We had a very large oak limb that hung over the top of our home that needed to be removed. Hancock Tree Service was one of three companies that provided an estimate for me in March. All three were in a fairly close price range; Hancock was in the middle. I chose them because of their positive reviews and the professional manner in which they seemed to do business from the onset. I was not disappointed! The estimator (John) followed up my initial call with great communication, arrived when scheduled, took time to answer all my questions, and let me know that it would be a few weeks before they could get to me due to recent regional storms which they were helping with clean up. We tentatively agreed upon sometime mid-April, which is exactly when he checked back with me to schedule the work. I didnt have to reach back out to them...they followed up as promised with me. Once scheduled, the cutting crew showed up right on time, were polite and professional...and did an incredible job! They ended up zip-lining the heavy limb sections, which was both impressive to me and fun to watch! This was a team that worked well together, that showed up when they said they would, knew what they were doing, did the work promised, and cleaned up afterwards as expected. If we need tree service again, we will call this company without hesitation.

We needed some limbs taken from a giant tulip polar tree in our front yard and some brush mulched and stumps ground in our back yard. Hancock was the first tree service to respond to my inquiry. (some took over two weeks just to return a call) They gave us a very competitive estimate. It took a while for the services to be performed because it’s just really busy at this time. The wait however was not so bad, and the end result was better than we had envisioned. They will go the extra mile for you. I highly recommend their services. John Shockley will treat you right.

Received great service from Hancock Tree! I had already scheduled a tree removal when a storm hit and a neighbors tree fell into our yard. They moved our appointment up two weeks and cleaned everything up the next day. Prices were reasonable and all the employees were friendly and professional.

I contacted Hancock to give me an estimate because they had once rescued my granddaughter’s cat from a telephone pole. They were so kind to do that and I thought I would give to a chance to tackle my “Forest” We had dozens of tall pines that were probably 60plus feet tall. They were just very close to our new house. John gave us a great price so much so that both my neighbors hired them too. When the team arrived I was so impressed with the number of guys they sent and the amount of equipment. They had a chipper, dump truck, log truck, bucket truck and skid steer! They moved at an incredible pace!!! I was very pleased with how thoughtful they were about the process. Some of our trees were dangerously close to our house, camper, and dog lot. But they planned their strategy, worked with precision, and as a phenomenal team, managed to safely fall the trees. They chipped up what they could and hauled off the rest. They removed probably 60 trees or more and dramatically changed our landscape to protect our home. The guys were fast, affordable and good! We are grateful to Hancock and to John as well. He set up everything for a wonderful experience!

They were able to fit my job in early due to a cancellation. The crew was right on time, got right to work, cleaned up everything quickly, and we’re gone before I knew it. I had Hancock Tree Service remove a tree right next to my house that was partially dead and dropping limbs on my roof. This was in a very tight area and had to be dropped in an exact spot. They brought in the right equipment and enough people to do the job right. The guy on the chainsaw was amazing to watch! It was down and cleaned up within an hour. I highly recommend them!

A tree fell in my yard due to a storm and had been there for two days. I saw them working on a tree in my neighborhood and they were able to send their bidder out within an hour, give me a quote, and remove the tree same day.I want to add that the tree fell on top of two baby blueberry bushes and they were able to remove the tree without damaging the bushes further. They listened to what I wanted, were there faster than Ive EVER had tree work done, and gave me a reasonable price. I highly recommend this company.

I have tree removal scheduled for a few weeks from now. On Sunday evening a very large branch broke and was hanging over my front walkway. I sent a picture and explanation to Hancock Tree Service. They showed up the very next morning and quickly removed the damaged limbs to make sure the tree was safe until the scheduled removal. I was extremely impressed by their punctuality and professional service.

The service & clean up was great! We had 2 trees cut down & a big oak tree trimmed back from our house. We also had the entire back yard bush hogged & cleared of all under growth & fallen limbs & trees. The guys were in & out in about 4 1/2 hours! The only thing is they dropped a limb on my grill & left a dent in in & didn’t say anything to me or my husband.UPDATE: John Shockley from Hancock Tree Service contacted me the day after my original review & apologized for the damaged grill & they replaced it. The guys with Hancock Tree Service worked hard to remove a huge Maple from my back yard. They made sure to wait until the ground was dry so that their machines would not completely tear up the ground. I truly appreciate all of their hard work! They even hauled off a brush pile I had before the tree was cut down. :)

We had an emergency in needing a tree dropped that started falling in the direction of our neighbor’s house. Despite advertising 24 hour emergency services, they don’t have an answering service and no one ever called me back. Horrible first impression. Definitely won’t use them for the trees we were already planning to have removed.

We have four pear trees that needed trimming and Hancock responded quickly to our request for an estimate. John came out and gave us a fair quote promptly and we decided to go with them. The crew came to the house on the scheduled day and asked how much we wanted trimmed and then trimmed the trees to those specifications. They were very quick and did a great job in cleaning everything up. The trees were not butchered at all like we have seen so many others do to pear trees. There is still a good amount of green on them and they were shaped very nicely. The crew was courteous and professional and we would not hesitate to call Hancock again if and when we need tree work done. I will recommend them to my daughter for work she needs done.

John was very nice, and, ultimately, I did get my trees removed and they did a good job. However, I had to call a third time to get a date for the service after 1 reschedule and 1 no call/no show. And, while removing a stump, they severed the underground internet/cable line to my house. We were able to get the line replaced at no cost to us except the inconvenience and one lost day of working at home. When I informed the company, their response was simply “sorry for the inconvenience and I’m glad everything else went well.” So, while I do have my trees down and they did a decent job, I can’t, in good conscience, recommend this company. UPDATE: Both the Owner and Forman have reached out to personally apologize for my experience. They were very nice, and while it doesn’t change what happened in my case, they do seem very engaged in ensuring a quality experience for their customers.

Excellent value compared to other quotes Id received and the work was outstanding. This job had a very difficult 75 foot dead tree to remove that was completely covered in multiple vines. If the cuts werent just right there was a chance, I think, that it could have fallen on the house. These guys were like surgeons that evaluated each cut before making it. They cleaned up nicely and hauled the massive tree trunk pieces away. The only issue I had was never quite knowing when they were going to show up to finish up a few things but they did have some problems with equipment breakdowns which might have delayed finishing the job.

John was honest and knowledgable about all my tree questions, and gave a reasonable quote to clean up a large split Bradford pear tree across our driveway from storm damage. The professional crew came out with all the right equipment to take away the mess. They made precision cuts to drop the rest of the tree to avoid challenging obstacles. They finished up by grinding away the stump, leaving a smooth spot where the monster used to be. Highly recommend Hancock and will use them again in the future. Thank you for a job well done guys!

We had several quotes and went with Hancock due to the reasonable quote and their experience and safety record removing a tree of this size in a residential neighborhood. On several occasions Mr. Hancock and his team cut down and cut up trees on our property. The work was done in a very professional manner. The Hancock Tree Service personnel were courteous and respectful, going about their various tasks expeditiously and with focus. The work was done in a timely manner and the landscape neatly cleaned up. The estimates and work were very fair in value and we are well pleased with this company. Mr. Hancock made a point to do an after-action inspection to ensure all was done according to plan. John came out same day to inspect and evaluate 70 ft. oak that I needed removed. He spent the time to discuss options and how they would actually carry out the job. Quote was extremely reasonable. He informed me it would likely be two weeks out before they could get to job, but due to a break in schedule they were back in 3 days. This is the second time I have used Hancock Tree Service. They show up on time. Work the whole time they are here and clean up the whole area. This time I had a large Silver Maple that they got completely down in just a couple hours. In just a couple more hours, the large stump and root base was history. Very friendly, dependable, and a good price.

After receiving three quotes to remove two large oaks near my home, I chose Hancock even though they were not the lowest quote. I know a thing or two about cutting down large trees. Hancock not only answered all my questions correctly they walked me through what they planned to do and how they would do it. They did more than they promised to. The sawyer even cut me a nice cookie from the base of the largest oak tree, a keepsake I still have. I heartily recommend their tree service.

We had hired some other guys previously who cut down 2 trees and in 5 days still hadnt finished hauling it off. We called multiple companies, however John at Hancock Tree Service was the most thorough, knowledgeable and friendliest. We needed wood chips for a fort and swingset we had built in the backyard. The crew arrived with extra woodchips for us and they did an excellent job! They took care of 6 tree stumps, trimmed the branches of 2 huge trees away from our roof, chipped all the wood the other guys didnt remove, and cut some huge logs that required a larger chainsaw than we own. All in just a few hours! We are grateful for their excellent work and professionalism! We will definitely be calling them again!

Contacted the company for a bid to remove a tree on my commercial property. Once the bid was confirm we had zero problem scheduling the work. The work was completed on the day scheduled and my tenant is now extremely happy with the results. The site was cleaned and the stump grounded down so it never looked like a tree was ever there. We hired Hancock to take down a large maple at the side of our house close to a privacy fence and a small maple actually leaning against our fence. The team did a quick, thorough job and with no damage to the fence. The price was reasonable, and everyone I interacted with (John, the men that took down the trees, and the man I spoke with from the office) were personable and professional. I would highly recommend.Edit: I have just now got around to editing this review 10 months later. Sadly, I do have to take away a star because we paid extra to have our large stump ground beneath the ground, and as the wood chips and debris cleared away we saw the stump is still there. Still would recommend, but would recommend to not pay extra for stump grinding.

I had a tree fall onto another tree on Thanksgiving. I called ALL the tree services the next day and Hancock Tree Service was the ONLY one that called me back. It took them 2 hours to cut down 3 100+ foot trees that were 30 feet from my garage. No damage to my house or yard and they cleaned up afterward. HUGE shout-out to Hancock for making a long drive down just to rescue our cat, Duff! He had escaped and scaled the telephone pole by our house--perching on one of the black covered boxes with no exit strategy. They got him down gently and safely, and were very nice about the whole thing. Kitty cooperated long enough to be rescued--then couldnt wiggle out of my arms fast enough to run back home. Hopefully a lesson learned. Either way we will be recommending them for any future tree services (and not just the cat related kind)!

Great work. Got out to a tree that was already dropping large branches on our home within two weeks while the other company we contacted said they couldnt get to us for 10 weeks. They also hauled off the wood on top of cutting down the tree for cheaper than the other company quoted us to just cut down the tree. Very nice people. We were getting 3 estimates to have a poplar tree removed from my moms back yard which had been hit by lightning. John was on time for the estimate and was very professional. We had already received an estimate from two other companies. John asked what it would take to get our business. We were taken back and pleased that he would be flexible enough to get our business. To access the tree was difficult. He walked us through what he would do to take the tree down. John kept in contact with us appraised of when the men would be here prior to the appointment. A small side yard fence had to be removed to get a bobcat back to remove the wood. The men that did the work were very courteous. They took the fence down, removed the tree and limbs, then cleaned the yard up and put the fence back. One suggestion I would make to John would be to make a follow-up call after everything was completed to make sure we were happy. It would have allowed us to compliment his workers on the outstanding job they did. We will hire them in the future for any tree work we need to have done.

Hancock tree service really helped me out after a bad storm took down a tree in my front yard. I am a capable person of cutting of the tree and stacking it by the road. However, the city of Knoxville sent me a letter stating it was too much to haul off and I needed to remove it. After calling around, companies would not pick up the debris unless they cut the tree down. I told Mr. Hancock my situation and he had the debris gone in less that 24 hours for a very low price. Since, that moment I used him twice for large tree removal over my house and stump grinding. The job took about 2 hours and the were gone in no time. I have recommended him to everyone. Personable guy that will work with you.

The crew showed up on time and well equipped to take down a very large dying maple tree. All brush was chipped up and removed as promised. They ground the stump, too. Hancock tree service today took down 5 giant weed catalpa trees on our property. Some of the limbs were threatening to fall on a mobile home on our property. John gave me an estimate for this just last week. I had planned on getting estimates from multiple services, but after his quote realized that no one was likely to beat it. He expedited the work, and then the work was done quickly. They did a thorough clean up afterward. We have many trees on our property and Im sure we will need tree services again and, when we do, we will be calling Hancock Tree Service!

Was relieved with how easy and affordable Hancock Tree Service was to use for our backyard projects. John came out very quickly (a couple of other tree services wouldnt get back to me or texted me once and never texted again) and was very knowledgeable and honest about my box elder tree that had been held up by suspension cables for several years. The actual tree removal process was great, I touched base with the crew when they got here & then they got the job done relatively fast (we had 3 separate trees in the backyard they worked on). I even held my son & let him watch the bucket truck in motion & the man in the bucket truck was waving to him and all of the staff were extremely professional and kind. I highly recommend Hancock, oh & also worth mentioning I had at least 3 other quotes and Hancock was by far the most affordable and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend.

I was very upset because I was hearing awful dangerous stories about the Bradford pear tree.. Mr Hancock came to look at it and said not to worry because it is a Bartlett pear tree and it will be there for longer than me. He was honest and saved me from spending the money cutting it down.

I have used Hancock several times and they have been excellent every time. When I call they have come out the very same day to give me an estimate, which was a good price compared to other estimates, and had the work done soon after. I had told two other companies exactly how I wanted my Bradford pears to look and they both said it couldn’t be done. But John Gonzales from the company assured me they could make them beautiful and I will always use this company!!!

The Hancock staff did a great job on my old Redbud tree that needed some thinning out and load balancing. Dead limbs were removed that helped to relieve some weight on the main trunk that was splitting apart. The staff knew exactly what needed to be done, and how much could be removed without harming the tree. This was done during the winter while the tree was dormant, so that helped also. Great service at a very reasonable price. Would surely recommend them for your tree work!

Great service from Hancock. We (Glenview Home Owners Assoc.) had a large tree that had been undercut by water and was, frankly, dangerous and ready to fall. Hancock gave us a date for service and said they would put us to the top of their list for cancellations. They called to say they had an opening and took care of the tree the next day. We were grateful and very pleased with their work/competence/workers.

Unreliable, higher prices than other companies. An extreme hassle to even attempt to work with. East TN tree service was quicker, honest and less expensive.
