Dislike this store immensely. My experiences with the owner makes me feel he is a gas-bag buffoon most of the time. Terribly difficult to deal with and the store is in a very bad location.I strongly suggest Leithold’s and Dave’s. #GoPackers

If youre a stringed instrument player, go there and see Tom B to get a setup on your axe. Hes really good. He takes careful measurements, keeps good records, and will give you a quick tune-up in the following days if you need it, free of charge. So he clearly stands by his work.Cant ask for more than that.

Had a great experience with everyone I talked to at the store. Tom got my old guitar set up better than new and several others helped me try and track down a new case. Everyone there was friendly and attentive.

My daughter takes guitar lessons here with Kyle and we also saw Tom who is giving her guitar a tune up. We had a warm greeting when walking in the door from the lovely ladies working there as well. Fairly priced and highly recommended!

Very fair selection for all band related needs. Came in for picks before a show and ended up walking out with a few spare sets of strings due to their very fair pricing. Guitar selection was decent enough, with only a few brands and models in store but all are well taken care of. For casual gear Id say this place is an absolute must. For the bigger stuff you may wanna shop around.Its also worth noting they have an expert guitar tech on site willing to repair your axes or install mods to save yourself the immense pressure of tinkering with your prized instrument.

If youre looking for companies that helped during the pandemic so you can support them, this company is NOT it. They had my daughters trumpet before shelter in place(March) they brought it back to the school April 9th so we havent had it for almost 2 mos but have still paid. They told me if I want to return the instrument I have to drive to the school or band teachers house, get the trumpet then drive an hour to bring it to LAX. They made sure to remind me that until I left home and did this theyd continue to charge me. Im immunocompromised so thats nice of them. If you return an instrument a day after you paid for the previous month theyll charge you for the full next month as well even though you had it one out of 30 days.

Great little music shop. New and used instruments available. You can rent your kids band instruments here instead of buying them. If you choose to buy, theyll give you a credit for part of what youve paid in rent. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Id love to see SSE expand to the surrounding areas and open shops in other towns. Tomah, Sparta, and Mauston would be great places for a music store.

Rented a well used instrument for 3 years at an inflated price due to their commitment to make up for it on the back end with a forgiving rental credit policy. Big mistake, as their staff added strings when it came time to follow through. Deceptive, dishonest, and their communication skills are a mess. In the end, an extremely poor value. Will definitely look elsewhere for next instrument rental.

SSE gives a variety of music options for all instruments, and voices. The staff is super cool, and well informed. They know everything about every instrument.

I have only been here a couple times over the last 10 years. Each time, the staff were very friendly and helpful. I only play guitar, so of course Daves is my number one. SSE did not have the high end guitars. However, I bought a back up acoustic here and got a great deal. Plus, its handy to the northern La Crosse area when you need supplies. I have nothing bad to say about the place.

I have always had wonderful experiences with SSE Music from instrument rentals, to buying music and needed supplies, as well as having service done on said instruments. Any time I have had questions about reed sizes, different neck straps, etc., they were full of helpful information/advice.

It was awful service. They said things that werent true. I eventually walked out with an Armstrong but will be trading it in soon. They had nothing ready. They were unorganized and it was a mess. At least I got my flutebook. .

I am a student at Viterbo University in town. SSE Music offers us a discount on ordering vocal scores because we are students. They are always able to help me find the music I want, as obscure as it may be!

I dropped of a bass guitar to have it set up on a Saturday. I told the gentleman at the counter what I wanted, and I filled out the tag with my information and what I needed done. I was told SSE would call me. By Friday of the next week I had not heard from SSE. I called, and my guitar was untouched. I asked why not, and I was told by the guitar tech that he did not know what service it needed. So it sat there for almost a week for no reason. When I called the person with whom I spoke could not find my guitar at first. Then I was told they would get ot it, and SSE would call me. So, no initiative, no clue, no proactive customer service, no anything.Please go to Daves Guitar Shop. I would have gone there first if SSE was not co close to my home.Abandon hope all ye who enter SSE Music. Take your service work elsewhere.

SSE repeatedly has screwed up my orders and in-store purchases. I ordered a box of reeds (for my instrument that would take about a week and a half to ship to SSE) in my name and they sold it to someone else. I came back in to pick them up once I got the call and they told me that they didn’t have them. It took 35 minutes and 3+ employees to figure out that one of them sold my item to another person. Deeply frustrated, I left and went to Leithold’s and had zero issues and actual quality service. In addition, the customer support is pretty meh; the employees are always really slow when I go there and most of the time can’t help me. They seem really unsure of themselves if I ever need to find something or have a question. From now on, I’ll be going to Leithold’s even if it is a bit further out of my way...
