Curating the Cool is unique store and experience you wont find anywhere else. It has an awesome, always rotating selection of vintage items. I love that all the gifts and collectibles are local Colorado companies. What stands out about this place is that it feels authentic to the owner, Z. It isnt just another gift shop that has random stuff. Every item seems like it has a story and reason for being there. I love shopping here and always find something fresh to take home!

Good God, what an awesome place. Artistic and eclectic, hip, practical and zany. If you dont see it here today, come back next week. So many interesting things. This is the perfect place for buying gifts, re-connecting with your childhood, and just plain discovery. The owner is genuine, nice, friendly and fair. You will like.

Curating the Cool is hands down the best place to find vintage furniture and collectibles. I have bought so many awesome things at Curating the Cool ranging from vintage Herman Miller chairs to a 1980s Dukes of Hazard Lunch box. They also carry the best all natural soaps and beard care products available. Z and Mary Anne are super friendly and helpful. They are experts at both curating cool vintage goods and providing excellent customer service. If you are looking for vintage items and fun swag in Boulder County, you just cant beat Curating the Cool in Old Town Lafayette.

This is a fantastic gift shop! Ive been shopping at Curating for years and have been continuously pleased with the variety of art, vinyl, and apparel they have to offer. Whenever Im looking for locally sourced gifts for the holidays, I know where to go. On top of all that, the staff are friendly and helpful. Check it out and you wont be disappointed!

I rarely give the full 5 stars, but this shop truly deserves it. Three generations of my family went in to peruse the wares and each of us found ourselves marveling at the nostalgia the items offered for sale had given us. Each item is hand curated by the owner, who obviously is passionate and talented with his eye for the cool.Make sure to check out the vintage toy and candy room inside, and add the taste of your childhood to the overwhelming feeling in Curating the Cool.

Who knew a place like this existed?! Let alone the fact that it has so much cool that its hard to fathom. From the super sweet online website to the shops loaded with all the goodies, its hard to match CtC. Well, no one can match them, others can only hope to hold a candle to their flaming bright sunshine.

I brought my grandson a vintage typewriter for his birthday. I was very pleased with the service and the merchandise was just as the picture showed. Excellent condition. I would definitely buy from them again.

We ordered an item from you. We waited to get a call when the item was ready. We tried calling you, but your store number does not work.Five weeks later we drove down to your store and we were told it would be ready in a week. We never got a call -- a week later we drove down to the store and the item was not there. We weres told to come back the following Tuesday to pick it up.My mother drove down the following Tuesday and the item was not there. We were never notified, no one ever contacted us. The burden of the communication was completely on us and there was no way to contact you other than driving down.The store is great to shop, the people are nice -- the communication was rough.

I had a consignment contract with this shop and gave the owner, Z, a thousand dollars worth of product to put up on the shelf in 2015. A contract was signed and then never honored. Trying to get my product back was a nightmare, contacted them through email, website, phone and driving to the physical store a dozen times. Only to find the store closed for unannounced reasons, emails never answered and the phone just rang till the end of time.I have filed a complaint through the BBB and still tried contacting the owner multiple times to recieve my items back or compensation to no avail. Only vague promises that were never followed through on. Do no support this theif who has done this to multiple local artists and constantly changes his selling sources to avoid being caught or called out publicly.The owners response to this review is laughable. He has gone from claiming I was rude to his wife who he had give me back a few of my items but not even half of what was given to him. To now saying I attacked her. Wish you would have called the police when I ATTACKED her. Maybe next time you shouldnt be a coward and face your problems in person instead of hiding behind a woman.

Z, the owner, is such a great guy and finds all sorts of cool things from my childhood (the early 80s) and other decades too. Definitely check it out if your close by.

As an artist I cannot recommend this business. I thought Z was a great guy until I asked him to properly hang, price and return my art responsibly. He did none of these. I am tired of businesses taking advantage of good artists. I make a great living as an professional artist yet he was unable to sell barely anything of mine in his overpriced, dirty and cluttered store. He is not trustworthy, lied to me about returning my work to me and he actually blocked me from talking with him instead of communicating like an adult. Horrible customer service and horrible vibe from this person and this business. Shame on you, Z.

I love their eclectic assortment of Colorado wares as well as truly unique vintage COOL! Always a great place for a gift!

Since my last review I received most of my items back, but several were damaged, and he included 3 pieces of art belonging to other artists. They were clearly marked, and I did try to return them by way of Z, but he didnt follow up. So apparently he screwed that person as well. I am still getting messages to this day about how Z. is cheating, lying and blocking people from whom hes stolen. Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and the BBB need to know what is happening here. Dont support this scammer this Christmas.

Follow up to original review. My mother decided to take the owner of Curating The Cool to Boulder Small Clams Court. She wasnt feeling well that day so I helped her and she decided to settle with this huckster. She received most of her money back, but this schmuck outright lied to the arbitrator. Please City of Lafayette do your due diligence and show people that Z. Davis Robison and Curating the Cool do not represent your city. This guy is a fraud walking around Literally stealing from little old ladies! Please curate this doof out of business!

I am SOOOO disappointed with this business. I tried to sell my art there and was told that pricing and placement and return would all be one way. Meanwhile, they did not do anything they promised nor did they return my art to me the way promised. After insulting me, the owner, Z blocked me from messaging him any more and now I have to make yet another trip there to pick up my art. My first piece I picked up earlier today was bent, hung sideways and damaged. As an artist and a local, I advise you to not do business here. It is overpriced and poor customer service.

Great shop for vintage and handmade local items! Everything here is so unique, really good for buying a gift for those hard to shop for folks.

Really beware of using the webshop of this company! I have never experienced more dishonest and ingorant people in my life. They shipped me the wrong item and then refused both replacing it and paying me a refund, leaving me to have paid for something I never wanted. Very dishonest way of doing business. I would never trust them for anything other than disappointment.

Unfortunately I dont get to visit the shop in person, but getting cool in the mail is definitely the next best thing.

Sad to say that Im forced to give this so-called establishment a star. Ugh! Z, (real name Z. Davis *******) the owner, is one of the most despicable, lazy, dishonest, manipulative business owners Ive ever met. The Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and BBB should definitely be embarrassed by this owners seedy reputation! Ive talked to neighboring businesses as well as artists that have consigned in his store and they also are tired of his shady antics. This place should be called, Curating for Cucks. Two years ago my Mother decided to use Curating the Cool to consign some things. My Mother actually used to own a neighboring antique store and the building that Z leases, so we thought she had found someone who was trustworthy. Boy were we wrong! My Mother who is handicapped wanted me to oversee things. Z was more than willing to tell us anything to get her items into his store. I think she placed 10 items or so, one of which was a family heirloom, an old saloon card table. She was ok with the prices except she told him shed take nothing less than $1500.00 for the table. I was witness to this as I drove her down to actually meet and talk to Z. He was outside his shop putting thing on the sidewalk when we drove up. She met and told him in person outside. I asked if she needed to sign something to which he replied, Dont worry Ill handle it. Well some things sold others didnt. If they did sell We were never ever notified. Helping my Mother since they were her items I literally had to go in and check on the items every month or so to see if they had sold and collect a check. It was like pulling teeth to get him to pay. He even threw out an old typewriter that belonged to her saying is was broken. No communication from him whatsoever. He just threw something valuable out that we would have taken back. So I kept asking about the table and he kept telling me it was in storage. I bet I asked 10 times. Well a year later my mother demanded we get the table back if hes not going to sell it. I emailed and messaged him on Facebook that I need to pick my Mothers table up. Finally, he started a STORY that it was lost or sold. Wow... really your bookkeeping is that bad? This story went on for several weeks. After pressuring him he finally said it was sold for 375.00, 1200.00 less than what was agreed on. He said hed mail me a check. That went on for 2 weeks. I asked where he mailed it because he didnt have my name or address or my mothers. He said he mailed it to a PO Box in Denver. Come to find out he didnt know my mothers or my name since I always picked up blank checks when being paid. This was a month ago and no check. He has since blocked me and stopped communicating. Crooked Z and Curating the Crooked are to be avoided at all costs! Old Town Lafayette should be embarrassed by this business ripping off old ladies! Shop anywhere else but here! Beware of the seedy business practices this poor excuse for a shopkeeper uses. Its a matter of time before this guy will be Curating out of business! Do yourself a favor and BOYCOTT THIS STORE!
