Why am I just finding out about this amazing store. I was a kid in a candy shop. Everyone was helpful. If you ask them for help they will assist, and walk you all the way to the product! Will definitely be going there again!

Went there to buy a fishing pole and some line. Actually had a wonderful conversation with our sales man in the fishing section. Great prices and friendly staff.

I spent $400.00 at this place.. mostly football stuff. There was a pair of football gloves placed on the shelf. No big deal beside the one I bought was under the impression they cost 19.99 not 40.00 so I said to the cashier you might want to check the shelves because merchandise are in the wrong spot. I already paid I thought I was giving them heads up. Well he call supervisor and this guy snatched my receipt out my hand. Just rude! Then goes well they was put in the wrong spot. I looked at him like my he dumb. Not a nice person

The staff is friendly and very educated on their products. Their armory has a great selection at the best prices in the market for a brand new firearm.

Totally garbage if a store. I ordered a canoe and when I went to pick it up and it was very damaged. They tried to pass it off as not that big of a deal and then when I refused it, then gave me $10 offer. Completely horrible customer service.

This store is great! The prices are awesome! They have the best prices in most categories. I’mNot sure if they price match but so far I haven’t had to ask. They do occasionally have discounts for public safety members which is awesome! It’s nice and clean, easy to maneuver. I recommend this place and will go back.

I thought it was just me, but now that Im reading these reviews over, its starting to sound like misogyny. Mix that in with the laziness of some of the staff being complained about here ignoring customers on the line right when their shift is about to end, well I wouldnt take my sons here for their equipment if you were giving it out for free. Make some improvements, beginning with your personnel, as youre not the only sporting good store in the general Sanford area, let alone Central Florida.

Great folks. Almost always have a friendly visit here. And the once in a while that is not plesent, the manager is ready to make it better.

I had an AMAZING experience here yesterday. My 6 year old nephew was wanting a trick Bike as he called it for his birthday. I took him to this store and a worker named Nathan( I think) was so kind and helpful. He talked to my nephew so nicely to find the perfect bike, adjusted the seat for him and even danced along with him. This made my nephew so happy to have a worker treat him so nicely.

Wow this place has gone downhill faster than Joe Bidens approval rating. What a dumpster fire! Employees are clueless, unhelpful, & rude. There is literally no reason for this place to exist, take your business to Walmart. Or, just set your money on fire, Itd be less painful then going here.

I frequently spend money in this store and am usually satisfied but after my last experience here will not be returning. I was hounded by numerous employees while shopping around for a Father’s Day gift and rudely approached by one lady employee while trying on a pair of shoes with no intent to help out. It made me very uncomfortable and decided to leave, being treated as a thief. You lost a sale today and a customer forever.

The staff at the fishing, tackle and real area were excellent! Nice ppl and they threaded our lines on our poles. Extremely knowledgeable and easy to get along with.

I live within 5 minutes of this location, it has by far the worst fishing department of any store I frequent. Go there any day of the week and try to find a penn combo. Sold out every time with hundreds of feet of empty shelf space. Walk down any aisle in the department, half of the peg hooks are bare. Whoever is running that dump should be canned. I drive an hr to go to bass pro instead. You should too.

I ordered a bicycle online and I was so excited! I searched so long, and researched so many bikes . I made sure that all of the dimensions fit for my sedan, I had safety equipment in case the trunk didnt close so I could transport it home... And I drove 40 minutes to go pick it up at a location that said it was in stock. They canceled my order via email, even though I signed up for text alerts, and unfortunately had already gotten to the store. I know they were going to confirm when it was ready, but I was so excited I couldnt wait. When I went into confirm that I would not be able to purchase the bike after all, they just said it didnt meet standards. There was no explanation as to if it was cosmetic, safety, mechanical, etc ... there was no option to approve or reject the bike from me the customer, and it was unavailable to ship. They didnt offer me any solutions, other than telling me that a store 30 mi away might have it and I could check there,and just a very lackluster excuse about covid. I get that things happen, but this is disappointing. Im so sad. The customer service agents were not bad, not great. I know it wasnt anybodys fault, I just wish that I had gotten the option to see the bike and decide if I wanted to purchase it.

Today is December 23 2020,Drove all the way from Mount Dora in search of a bike for my son. Borrowed money just to pay for it. They had one left in the back and Steve the manager helped me find it. But it didnt stop there. As I was up front trying to pay for it the card machine for some reason(God) wasnt working and then Steve came up and said he would buy the bike for my son. Im still in shock over this because I never get anything or win anything.God bless you Steve and the staff at Academy. You guys are awesome. Merry Christmas!!!

Purchased something a few weeks ago and the customer service was fantastic. From associates, to who I believe was the store manager- all nice, informative and friendly. Would recommend if you’re looking to purchase anything in the hunting/fishing area.

Not as big of a selection as other Academys I have been to and the changing rooms were very dirty. I was going back and forth between 3 stars and 4 but the dirty changing rooms that were so bad they changed the color of my new socks dropped their rating. But very nice employees and they do price match.

I went to buy swim gear on Black Friday because of their large signs saying theyll match any price. I asked them to match Dicks Sporting Goods sale and was informed they dont price match on Black Friday. Take the signs down if youre not going to honor the policy!

I find it very frustrating that a Sporting Goods store doesnt carry golf shoes for women. I guess they dont realize that women play golf. Seriously undeliverable.

I chose this story to buy a pellet gun that I needed. The counter people were very helpful and I was able to purchase the rifle I needed with no problems I highly recommend this business!

Rude “manager”- the pool we wanted was not available in Daytona Beach, so I called Lake Mary. The gentleman I spoke with was very nice, told me they had the pool, but the only way to save it (as they only has 2) was to put it in the cart online and pay for it. He then said we could come pick it up and that would guarantee we would get the item. I was on the phone with him and he walked me through the process. I had my husband call back when I received an email saying we had to wait to pick the item up until we received another email from the store. A female answered. My husband explained to her that he wanted to come pick it up but that the email stated we needed to wait for them to contact us. He let her know that since I was not feeling well, he would be picking it up. She rudely told him that he could not because it would have had to be stated online that he was picking it up. I asked so you mean even if I tell you he’s coming to get it, that’s not good enough? She said no. I said so what if someone comes in and buys the pool before you get verification of the order, which she stated could take up to 2 hours (the reason the email said to wait for them to contact us back) she said then it’s sold to whoever buys it. I said, first the guy on the phone walked me through switching stores and purchasing the item, secondly I didn’t see anywhere to put a name for someone else to pick it up and thirdly the reason we did it this way, was so we would be sure to have the pool. My husband asked for a manager, she rudely informed him she was the manager. She insisted I had to come and they would check my ID. So, I got my sick body in the car, we drive, pull into designated parking spot and then summons them to bring it out. The guy put it in the car, didn’t say anything to us. My husband asked if he was the gentleman I talked to on the phone he said no and walked off. Long story short NO ONE ADKED FOR MY ID, for any confirmation email, nothing! So, I came all this way sick why????? Rude manager, will never shop here again!

Wonderful selection of clothing, work out gear, weaponry, sporting goods, etc. Kid behind the register had his mask under his chin, but most of the other employees wore masks.

Ordered and paid online for an item for curb side pickup which I prefer where possible.I checked in online when I parked in a pickup parking bay and an associate came out after about 5 minutes.Unfortunately the item was not complete, accessories missing.When I asked about this I was told something along the lines of “I’m just the picker”So I had to go inside, and wait for someone else to help. They didn’t seem too interested either but we finally got it sorted out after another 15 minutes.Not bad... not great... not convenient

I went to their Clearance event tonight, and found a cheap pair of magellan shoes on sale. Our Son in Law owns a landscaping business and wears out sneakers in 2 or 3 weeks. So we decided to buy him 3 pairs of these since they are WaterProof, were on sale and are basically throw away shoes. work in them, wear them out, throw them away and get a new pair.So, We take them to the register and the girl says she needs to double check the price. so we wait for a kid to walk to the back of the store and check. and sure enough the price was correct, and they were clearing out the inventory because they arent going to carry them any more.So then she had to call the night time manager. The takes like 25 - 30 minutes to come out of his office and walk up to the register. We got out of line and let like 10 other customers go in front of us.She asks him to do a price override on the clearance shoes. and he just says no. and says he wont sell them to us, and tells us to go buy something more expensive. this is after weve been standing at the register for almost 40 minutes waiting for price checks and for his fat lazy butt to walk across the store.Then he tells us the item on the price sticker isnt the same as the shoes we have, and both me and my wife pointed to the skew number on the box and it was the same. and he still refused to sell them to us.Why ?????He literally told us to go back and buy something that cost more money.Just a classic bait and switch, but he wasnt even nice about lying about the prices. He was rude about it.They Literally turned us away from their Clearance event for buying Clearance items, on Clearance, which they were advertising with 40 foot tall CLEARANCE banners, hanging in front of their store, at their Clearance event.Again.... Why ????

Honestly I wish I would have had a good experience with this store because it’s a nice store, but we live 45 minutes away and after months of shopping around for a pool for the kids they have one in stock. I called and asked if they can place it on hold and the man on the phone said they could and we automatically get in the car. We get all the way to the building and go inside and according to them they sold it while we were on the phone when I overheard them on the radio saying they specifically had one in stock. Not even 30 seconds of them agreeing to holding it and me hanging up they “supposedly sold it”.Instead of just saying they couldn’t hold it they wasted my time.

I think Academy Sports is going the way of Sports Authority. It was a ghost town. It was obvious that stock was depleted. No one not once asked us if we needed anything. My wife needed new sneakers. Prices of sneakers were high also. A big change. Hope things go back to normal post Covid.

Wish I could go with a less than one review. Dropped my firearm one month ago and after it being there for 2 weeks was never shipped out some lame excuse they missed the email with shipping label. Now they tell me when I come to get it I wasn’t the one who dropped it off it was my wife. When we both dropped it off they took both of our info and where specifically told we could both pick it up I drive 15 miles out of my way to get it and they tell me I can’t get. Poor customer service and poorly educated staff on policies.

Love this place. Neat, friendly people. Plenty of supplies for fishing, camping (maybe could use some more variety on the tents and kayaks) but overall a great place for outdoor supplies.

Nice helpful staff and decent prices

A great store for everything from workout clothes to outdoor equipment. They have some great specials right now. Found some workout clothes that were normally $30 marked down to $10. It was not super crowded or anything either so no concern about COVID safety. They have social distancing markings near the checkout as well to keep things super safe for customers.

Most of the Youth softball apparel was nonexistent. Staff wasnt really able to assist other than to tell me to go online.

I understand the holidays depleting stock. Shocked there was basically only shotgunshells and 2 boxes of 200 rd 5.56 @90+ dollars a box. When I asked the sales guys he acted as if I was an inconvenience with minimal feedback. The doorman was very pleasant and tried to help instead of brushing me off like the gun counter guy.
