Offers many lower end to high end Bernina sewing machines and sergers.All staff is quite knowledgeable on the products and Steve knows the techy stuff.Bought a used higher end embroidery machine with a steep learning curve and am learning a lot in the new owner classes which are free with your machine purchase.They have very cute fabrics too!

I thought it was a really great thing for Mel to donate one of her babies (quilts) to help my mom out with the Nativity Catholic Church Fall Fest Plant tent!! The best quilting shop around! Not only do they have the best selection of fabrics, patterns, and supplies but they also inspire you and help with all aspects of sewing, from quilts to clothing. The fabric selection is always new and fresh and everything is easy to find. Machine maintenance and cleaning is always done quickly and thoroughly and they also teach you the proper way to maintain your machine. I’ve been coming to this shop and taking classes for over 15years and they are like family. The best ever.

Very nice local quilt store. They carry a wide range of fabrics: quilting cotton, batiks, jersey knit, canvas, cork, etc. Nice range of zipper colors and handbag hardware. Ive rented their long arm machine in the shop, time is very reasonably priced. Staff is super helpful and friendly. The shop dogs are awesome. Be sure to say hi to Louie and his new little sister Sadie when you stop in!

Bernina Sewing Centre is a fabulous quilt store with a large selection of beautiful fabrics and top of the line sewing machines. The thing that puts them over the top and above everyone else is their customer service. Steve and Mel, the owners of the store, are gracious, knowledgeable, and accessible. Their staff is absolutely the best. They are always courteous, friendly and ready to help with any question or problem. The classes are fun and informative. The new owner classes have been so helpful and you can take them as many times as you want. I drive an hour and a half to get to this store and it is so worth the drive.

They let us hold our project Linus sewing group here monthly and have sale fabric.

If you havent visited this incredible store, youre missing out! This is a husband and wife owned business and their service, products, knowledge and attention to detail is the best you will find! With Steves assistance, he pointed me to the perfect machine that met my needs (not the most expensive one!). This is a full service store, so they will be able to maintain my Bernina 790 as a one stop shop. And Melody has an incredible talent for designing beautiful quilts and embroidery pieces. I absolutely love this shop! I purchased a Janome in April and just recently purchased a Bernina 790. The new owner classes are wonderful. I have. enjoyed taking many classes from Mel, Cheryl and Hannah. I have never felt so at home and comfortable with a store like I do with this one. I had a problem with beloved but older Bernina . Called Steve at the sewing center 3 times. Each time he asked a few questions and gave new suggestions. Finally we decided I had better bring Baby in. When I got there Steve fortunately, had the time to look at Baby. He quickly diagnosed the problem and got her back in performing state. I have never had a repair person who was willing to take that kind of time with the phone with me . Incredible. Once I was in the shop, he explained everything he was doing. Outstanding. I love this guy. The shop was beautiful I am sorry that I did not have time to browse but I had traveled from the Villages and needed to get home. I would highly recommend the Sewing Center to anyone for Service, Machines or Beautiful Fabrics. I would be willing to travel back down for fabrics because I think Joanns is lacking in custom fabrics. I also will definitely return to buy a new Bernina when I am ready to buy, which may be soon. Ive recently bought my first Bernina machine from Steve and Mel and I love it. The best thing is the classes that they offer with your purchase of your machine. I have taken my first machine class with Cheryl and it was great. Just learning all the different function is so helpful. Looking forward to #2. This past weekend I took Steves machine maintenance class. It was worth everything plus. I encourage you to take the classes. Steve is highly knowledgeable and trained on all the machines. Im very thankful that these classes are available. So many things that I never thought about. But with the investment I have made I want to know everything that I can to keep my machine for a lifetime. You will love the store and the people. They all are helpful and make you feel that you are apart of their family. Thank you all, I know that Im excited in getting back into my quilting and learning so many new things. The Bernina Sewing Center in Lake Mary, Florida is the best. Mel and Steve are warm, caring and very knowledgeable. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and valued as a customer. Fabric selection is extremely appealing and simply gorgeous. Their staff is very friendly, helpful and provide great assistance in picking out fabrics if you need it. I do and appreciate their time and interest. . Classes provided are for all levels of sewing and emboridery. If you need to bring your machine in for problem, Steve will check it out immediately and repair while you wait if possible. This has happened to me twice. Each time the problem was caused by something I did incorrectly and was easily fixed. This means a lot when you travel a distance. I recommend them unconditionally. They are a class act.

This is a fabulous shop. Mel and Steve Hicks are the nicest people and very knowledgeable about the Bernina machines. Steve is factory trained in machine repair and always very helpful when you have technical machine questions. I purchased my machine from this store and today I was taking a class and had a machine problem and Steve took it into the shop and fixed it in just a few minutes and brought it back to me and I was able to finish the project. Thank you Steve!

Quality and quantity! I had to have a repair on my 1980s Bernina, it was done quickly and at a reasonable price. But the selection of patterns, materials and quilting and sewing machines was amazing

I love the stores yearly token for savings throughout the year. Of I am looking for something and they dont have it I have always been offered that they will order it. Steve is awesome, always remembers you, makes you feel welcome, and treats you like more than a dollar sign. Everyone is friendly. The only reason for a lack of 5 stars is that I wish they carried more Art Gallery Fabrics. Would not hesitate to recommend though and love it there.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BUSINESS.This review is motivated by a repair by Steve - I cannot say enough good things about him! PROMPT, CHEERFUL, HONEST, EXCELLENT will do for a start! I broke a needle and the tip went flying into the hook mechanism (completely my fault, 100% operator error.) I was afraid Id broken the hook, and thats $300 for parts + labor. Dropped the machine off with no warning, and he got to it amazingly quickly, and was able to get the machine working again with no parts replacement! HONESTY is wonderful to find in todays world - he could have told me I needed a new hook and I wouldnt have known any different, but he did what was needed and no more, and my machine is perfect again!We bought the machine there, and the people there are always SO friendly and helpful! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BUSINESS.

Having a lot of opportunities to visit many sewing stores in Florida I give 1st place to this store. Steve and the entire staff have mastered customer service, finest quality machines with education, maintenance and repair, and a beautiful selection of fabrics, notions and related products. It is worth the 2 hour drive for me to attend classes and make purchases, and to have queations answered over the phone as needed. If you are a quilter, seamstress or embroidered you owe it to yourself to find your way to Lake Mary, Plan To Spend At least 2 hours. It is inviting, cheery and products are displayed with ample lighting and in easy reach. The classroom is spacious, with large tables on which to work but cozy for everyone to be heard and share their stories. Dont wait 40 years like I did to get a Bernina, even the top models can be financed with excellent terms, you can even take a class and try a model to determine what is best for you. If you love sewing you should love yourself enough to sew with the best of us!I especially want to thank Mel for so quickly assisting me with downloading embroidery software. How many places can you just pick up the phone and get help immediately, and then to meet with you at your convenience to troubleshoot and resolve technology issues ? Above and beyond are sometimes words overused or applied insincerely but this staff earns my business and loyalty every time I visit and I always look forward to the next one.

I bought my Bernina ten years ago from this business and I have not used it that much but when I had a problem yesterday, I called and left a message with my name, phone number, and what the problem was and I got a call back with a suggestion from the owner and chief repairman, Steve. When I tried his suggestion, I still had the issue. The next day I packed up my machine and went to the store where Steve just happened to be available to look at it immediately. He gave me tips in threading that the owners manuel did not have. In a matter of a couple minutes it was running perfectly. Best part was he did not charge me. What a great business! No wonder they have been around a long time!

I trust the owners implicitly and can rely upon them to steer me in the right direction.I was at the shop when my machine fell on the pavement and was damaged. The repair was completed while I waited and for a very reasonable price.There are high quality classes available on a daily basis. Mel and her staff are constantly working to keep things interesting by offering new and exciting courses that teach new skills and improve technique. The teachers are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The teachers are also employed at the shop and make themselves available to answer questions and give good advice, pretty amazing.New interesting and high quality products constantly appear in this shop. I have a Bernina machine. I have made over 15 quilts with it and I have never had an issue with this machine. It purrs like a kitten.I did have a question with one of the attachments (I did not quite understand it), but Steve, the owner of the store sat down and showed me what I was doing wrong. Problem solved!If you like to sew you need to visit the shop. Beautiful quilts, stunning material, and lots of sewing supplies.

I was in the middle of completing a quilt for Christmas when my Bernia suddenly went bonkers. I took it into Steve and expected it to be returned in several weeks but was amazed and delighted when I received a call from Steve the same day. Hes the bomb! He must have sensed how stressed I was. Although there is a closer Bernia dealer near me, I will always travel the extra miles to have my machine serviced here. Steve is always friendly and tries to accommodate my needs if possible. The shop is beautiful and has the largest selection of fabric in town and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this shop to fellow quilters!

The first time I entered Bernina Sewing Center, it took my breath away. I loved the beautiful quilts hanging in the shop and all the gorgeous fabric displayed. I was new to quilting and thought I would never be able to make quilts such as those hanging. Mel and Carol assured me that I would learn, and with the help of BSC, I have learned to do much more than I would have thought I could. The classes offered at Bernina Sewing Center are taught in a large room with modern video equipment and expert teachers. Mel, Steve, Carol and the rest of the staff are very straight forward and offer expert advice and attention to their customers in the selection of fabric, etc. It is no wonder this is one of my favorite quilt stores in (and outside) of Florida.

Bernina Sewing Centre is the ONLY place to to take your Bernina sewing machine for service!!! After my machine broke, I took it to another Orlando based Bernina dealer to be fixed. They were completely clueless and told me get a new machine. I was about to give up and just buy a new one when I decided to get a second opinion at Bernina Sewing Centre. Not only did Steve IMMEDIATELY know the problem (and how to prevent it in the future!), he was willing to take the time to do the diagnostic testing to verify his hypothesis. Now I am good to go, and I couldnt be happier. The folks at this store KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. I will happily drive the extra distance for their expertise.

It is worth going out of your way for!Updating my review a year later: Yesterday I rented the Q24 longarm quilter to do my first pantograph on a special queen sized quilt that I had made for my daughter. I had no idea how much time it actually takes to trace a pantograph, especially if you are inexperienced. It took me until well after closing time. Steve, Cheryl and Mel patiently and quietly went about their tasks, exerting no time pressure so I could finish. This was way above and beyond for them, and I am so grateful. This exemplifies the level of service at Bernina Sewing Center. I cant thank them enough! (Next time I have a difficult quilt to do, Ill rent longarm time on Thursday!)
