7:30 am, Im on my way out the door to an appointment. My tire pressure light is on, I assume it just needs some air. Start driving and the steering wheel is shaking. Pull over to check, its about to blow. Im panicking, I cant miss this appointment and I dont know anything about tire replacement. Not to mention, I have a job interview this afternoon. No appointments available until this afternoon which obviously wont work. I call and the store manager, Brian, tells me to swing by and he will take care of it. I make my appointment in the morning and my car is ready with 4 new tires and an alignment by the time Im done. I cannot thank him and his team enough for taking care of me this morning. I dont usually use chain mechanic shops but after a recommendation from a friend I brought my vehicle there. The manager Brian was friendly and transparent about pricing and the work entailed. The technician who serviced my vehicle was quick and efficient, I would definitely recommend stopping in for any of you auto repair or maintenance needs!

This place worked a miracle on my Subaru! Ive been having problems with my AC and heat for over a year, and no one could figure out the problem. I took a chance on this place(I am very particular about how my car gets worked on) because my mom recommended them. Brian was super helpful and understanding, he was able to fit an appointment in the very next day, which was super convenient. He was able to figure out the problem within a few hours. The repair was a good price and the quality of work was impeccable. I will be bringing all 3 of our cars back for any maintenance they need. I highly recommend this Midas!

The Midas Team in Lake Zurich is top notch, starting with Joe up front, to everyone on the team. I came in with a potential issue to my exhaust system, but the team did a comprehensive review to ensure that the right work would be done - not just what I asked/thought might be the issue. When they identified some additional issues, they called me right away to let me know, and saved the parts in question for me to see when I arrived to pick up my car. They wanted to ensure I knew they only suggested necessary work, and to build trust. Been a good customer for years having multiple vehicles serviced. The guys in the shop have always been great and polite. No issues with the team. Without notice, prices went up through the cieling. Should have given heads up before servicing and then drop the cost bomb. I asked in advance and didnt get a direct answer. Last time I will assume getting a reasonable deal. $90.00 for an oil change? Always got it for under $50.00. Will go elsewhere. The cost of convenience is too high. Sorry guys.

I have been in the auto industry for 7 years at a local well known dealership. I sent my father over to get his exhaust welded up and they wanted to charge my dad 750+ dollars for an hr and half job and some pieces of pipe that might have been worth 50.00. Dont go here go to Velazquez muffler on Rand instead.

Great experience. Recently lifted my Jeep and exhaust pipe started scraping new gas tank skid plate. Dropped my car off at 8 AM and they ordered the parts and welded them to the pipe and had it done by 10:30 AM. They did a great job not to mention unbelievably convenient and quick service.There is ample space between the skid plate and exhaust pipe now.

While replacing/upgrading my exhaust system myself, I was unable to get the bolts off of the down pipes. I was quoted $400 for the removal of 6 bolts, including drilling out one with a busted head. Because I needed the job done same day, and the other service centers I called could not take the job until another day, I reluctantly agreed -- I agreed because I needed the job done that day. It took them about 2 hrs (maybe less) to remove the down pipes and bolt on the new pipe I provided. At $120 an hour, I really should have only been charged $240 -- since they had no parts or materials to provide. Upon check out, I asked politely if they could do anything with the price, and was told no because I agreed to that price. I again politely asked if there was anything at all they could do with the price since it only took 2 hours, and the front desk person replied, You asked us to do a job you couldnt do, and used our services to do it. The price is $400. Hey, I did agree to the price, so I paid it as agreed. Now, just to be clear. My low rating is not for the quality of the job nor that I paid more than $240. The rating is based on their poor business practice. When a business obviously and intentionally takes advantage of a customers situation, they are not striving to build a relationship with their clients. What I heard today from LZ Midas is making the most money possible from every customer is more important than earning your business again. In hindsight, unlike other businesses I called today, the fact that they had several open bays on a Saturday morning, is another good indicator that Im not the only one who will take my business elsewhere in the future. Good luck LZ Midas.

I came to this Midas a couple years ago and explained my situation with my breaks and what I was able to do at the time financially. They helped me out and got me back on the road, then two years later when I knew it was time to replace all my breaks I went back and got great customer service again. I even dealt with the same person as last time and he remembered my situation even though I had only been there that one time. They truly understood where my needs were and worked with me to make my car safe. I came back to them for a reason because of the service and astute attention to look over my car in great detail. I would recommend this Midas location and plan on going back for future needs.

I couldnt believe how amazing my trip was here. Ive been to many shops for simple oil changes and fixes in the last 7 years and Midas has been great. The Lake Zurich location was great today as they did my oil change, as well as a full inspection to help me understand why my car started kicking-like and why some lights came on the dash. They found all the problems as well as solutions. They also dropped the shop-recommended price tremendously to where I was able to afford. I was able to see everything up close and saw what was wrong and I knew I needed to replace a few things with how much I travel. AWESOME JOB!!!!

Good service and helpful and telling me what condition my car is in. Be careful not to let them lose your specialty lug nuts should you have them. That happened to me after a tire rotation and I did not realize it until a year later that they did not put it back in my glove box.

After going to multiple shops over the years and having people trying to get me to have work done that wasnt required, having certain associates elsewhere be rude and uncaring for my vehicle, I found this Midas. I could not be more happy. I stopped in today for an Oil change and some other maintenance. I spoke with a Brian today and he was extremely helpful. Took me into the bay and showed me everything wrong, was very honest with me about what needed to be done and what didnt. I respect that greatly, they got 4 issues solved for me in around an hour and I was out driving again! I would reccomend this place to everyone. I will definitely be coming back to get more repairs done in the future.

Worst place ever if Joe is working there I recommend you turn around as fast as you can before you end up wit more problems on your car. Plus he is very unprofessional he was smoking and on FaceTiming while under my car! I went for n oil change n 17 Miles my car was smoking n leaked out all the oil because he left something loss!!! Wow! I went in for a simple Oil Change based off a coupon that I found on-line and have to say that compared to the typical quick oil change places, this was the best overall experience that Ive had with any oil change that Ive ever been to. Blown Away! I got in right at my appointment time, the reception area was clean, organized and even had fresh good coffee. Within about 15 minutes, Brian Moore, the store manager who actually did the oil change took me back to the care and went over the 17 point inspection of my auto. Everything checked out good except for a few areas he showed me that I was unaware of were potential problems with my car. Very helpful and out of the ordinary drive up and get some oil with and air filter upsell experience that Ive had in the past. Great Service....I Highly recommend them and will be back to them for my cars future service needs. Thanks Guys.

Stay away from this place. Stopped by for an oil change, free tire rotation, and check the sound coming from the muffler. Upon the inspection, the Midas’ tech told me that my “center pipe” had a hole in it that could be dangerous to passengers because the exhaust fumes could get inside of the vehicle. (scare tactic.) Then, tech told me that he had “good news” because this pipe was in stock and could be replaced today for $460. Even better, he could do it for $400 if I do it now. (scarcity tactic - pressure to do it right away without shopping around.)Although the tech’s sale pitch seemed very fishy, I figured I would do the repairs since I already spent 20 minutes at the shop.A few minutes later the tech came to the waiting area to ask me if I really wanted to rotate the tires. This tech told me that my tires looked fine and by rotating them again, I could cause them to be “over rotated”! After that nonsense, I realized that I’m being ripped-off and told him to rotate anyway.So, I went to talk to another tech at the entrance and asked him why the replacement of a foot-long pipe costs that much. Without looking at the detailed bill, this tech told me that I got the best price since the total bill was for a “round number.” I guess, in Midas, you get the “best deal” if your bill totals a round number!Following the repairs, I went on-line and made a few phone calls to find out how bad I was ripped-off. Here’s the summary:Center/flex pipe, was charged 205.69 (sold for $60 - $92.60 in stores)Labor – 1 hour $119.99 (took them about .6 hour to replace the pipe, but will give them an hour)Exhaust caskets $33.98 (come free with the pipe)Total charged - $359.66 for the center/flex pipeThen, I called several competitors, who told me that they charge for the replacement of the entire center/flex pipe $180, including parts and labor.Total rip-off - $179.66Lesson learned… will never set foot in Midas again. And, neither should you.Update: A few days after this review (that lowered Midas rating to 3.6 stars), I noted several five-star reviews from Jose Rose and others arguing each issue raised in my review. Its apparent that this business posts fake self-reviews in order to keep its high rating. Look closely and youll see that many five-star reviews are FAKE.

Fast, friendly and personable service. I had an issue with a TPMS sensor that had run its course and explicitly off of the reviews on here I went in to have them look at it. A gentlemen named Joe was at the desk at the time and he very quickly found the problem. Unfortunately it was late in the day and they weren’t able to get the part in on time so he scheduled me to return another day. That day I was in and out quicker than an NTB could change your oil and at a very reasonable price and have had no issues since. Also they aren’t super pushy and don’t spend the wait time telling you a million more problems your car has to get more money before you leave. He simply informed me the other sensors have around 6 months left on them as well and sent me on my merry way. Will definitely be returning thank you all so much!

I was driving my sons car up to WI and the oil light came on. I pulled in and they took care of me right away so I was back on the road in no time!

I went in for a plug/patch for a tire. They told me they couldnt patch it and I would need a new tire. I was given a recommendation for two new tires since the front was a little warn. I knew better and went down the street to Firestone. Drove off with a patched tire and at a cheaper price Midas was charging. Dont trust this Midas touch! They try to take advantage of their customers and only care about their commission. All I needed as a plug and a tire rotation ($40), they tried to get me for two new tires ($220).

12/8/15: Took my car in for an oil change about 2 weeks ago. Another new manager! (probably at least 5-10 managers this year) The guy was nice enough to change out my wheels/tires to the winter ones, for free, since they had to take off the summer ones to check the brakes.HOWEVER!!! They also claimed my struts were original (2003 car) and causing problems to other parts, so they had to be replaced (all of them) and my control arms/ball joints were a safety hazard and all 4 needed to be replaced too! And I might be able to get through the winter with my brakes before needing new ones. A total of about $2200.00!!! UMM... NO! Second opinion!!Took it to a business who specializes in my make of car (I didnt go there first because they are usually more expensive and need special appointments, which can be inconvenient at times) for a second opinion.Their exact words, NEVER STEP FOOT IN THE FIRST PLACE YOU TOOK IT FROM EVER AGAIN! THEY ARE SPECIFICALLY SCAMMING YOU! Oh my goodness!! The second company said everything was great and working extremely well!This place used to be decent. Been taking many cars there. Dont go to LZ Midas.

Upon bringing my car to this location I was told I would need a replacement gasket on my transmission pan. After the gasket was in place my car started leaking transmission fluid. After bringing my car back and being told multiple reasons why it was leaking I was told I could drive it, which I did to another mechanic. It took the mechanic about 2 minutes to realize there was a large mark in the shape of a hammer and a large crack, it was obvious I was lied to by the midas technicians and manager. The midas technician admitted to using a hammer to try and loosen the pan, and he further admitted to the fact that it could have been a crack from trying to remove the pan. I was also informed it was dangerous for them to let me drive the car, and it was a miracle the transmission didnt give out when I started driving. To top it off, the original gasket was not even supposed to be replaced per manufacturer spec! My transmission is now garbage, I will be spending several thousand dollars to repair my car, and I wont have any transportation for the holidays. Horrible people here, stay away.
