This was a very interesting spot. The entrance was not very enticing and there was no mood or atmosphere where I walked in slightly after lunch. Quite honestly I thought they were closed down. The lights were dim, you could see packing boxes everywhere and when I walked in the woman was on the phone. Though she quickly got off to ask what I needed it was still rather strange.I took a glance at the menu, of which I had reviewed online to make sure they had the beef gyro I wanted. The chef then came out of the back and began to chop it all up with his knives little did I know this was going to be a fantastic sandwich.In less than 10 minutes I had a fresh gyro wrapped up to go for about 12 dollars. I said my thank you and proceeded to eat my sandwich in the car.The sandwich was delicious to be fair one of the best I have had. While I don’t think I would ever go there for a formal sit down as the location was not enticing. I would go back and order another takeout. The ratio of beef to vegetables was great and they didn’t over do the white sauce. Most gyros sandwiches are over done. The meat was not over cooked and the vegetables were well seasoned as well.Kudos to the chef.

This is a Mediterranean delight. Went there for a friend’s birthday dinner and so glad to have chosen this place. The staff is extremely accommodating and helpful. They even played the birthday song while we cut the cake (which was really nice). Everything we ordered was so refreshing from the Tabouleh salad to the falafel platter and the Sahara chicken. Highly recommend this place if you’re in the area. Super friendly on the pocket. Will definitely be back again.

Amazing food so happy we ended up choosing this place last minute. The food was fresh even though we came an hour before they closed.I had the split pea with spinach soup and I also the grilled chicken sandwich and my girlfriend had the chicken tandoori both were sooo good.The owner was very nice and the atmosphere felt like we walked into someones family kitchen.All the best.

The service was overall good. But sahara chicken was dry and felfels were greasy. The skirt steak was not seasoned. The only good point about food is that its halal.

They are very quick in making food, as well as the food is in high quality. Youll get your food literally within minutes of ordering, whether dining in or through delivery apps like uber eats, etc.

Ibrahim the owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The hummus appetizer was great. My mom has the chicken soup and spinach pie and enjoyed it. My sister and niece had the falafel sandwich and both enjoyed. Be careful with the hot sauce.

Ive been meaning to try Ali Baba for a while now. The first time I tried to go, they were closed due to renovations. Now that theyre reopen again, I finally got the chance to come in one Saturday evening. A friend and I went for dinner and we decided to share the 40 Thieves Mix Grill (combination of grilled chicken, lamb kabob, beef gyro u0026 kufta kabob, served with garlic lemon sauce, rice, hummus u0026 baba ganoush). This was a lot of food (on top of the complimentary pita and hummus they serve you once you sit down). The menu said that it was good for two people but we definitely had enough to serve a third person. My favorite was the lamb and the beef, especially with the yogurt sauce (?) they give you. The chicken was okay - it wasnt dry but it was just too charred for my taste. The rice came with almonds (you can opt out of it) which I thought would be weird at first, but it actually ended up adding a nice texture to it.Tip - its BYOB. I think this means water too because when we asked for a glass of water, they brought out some Poland Spring and then charged us for it. A little sneaky but not enough to keep me from coming back. Overall, I really enjoyed the meal.

It was a lot of food and a little of everything I. Waitress brought extra pita and tzatizki sauce (which.if youve read my reviews of Mediterranean places Im finiky about. It was right on) Everything was perfect. If you ask the owner makes his own hot sauce right there. If you like heat at all you have to try it!Beautiful family owned, it will be remodeled soon with open air eating etc but dont wait. It was fantastic. Authentic Turkish/Palastinian fare. Honey cake with semolina, tahini yogurt. And if we had not been completely stuffed they had fried HALLOUMI as an appetizer!Will definitely return if ever in Jersey again. Maybe see it after the remodel.Below is the bakliva and the honey cake. The Turkish coffee is authentically made with cardamom. Just an awesome evening.

The best falafel outside of the middle east...I’ve been visiting this place for over30 years, and it never ceases to amaze me how delicious the food is.We recently catered a party for 60 people, we ordered the Chicken Kabab, Kufta Kabab, and beef Kabab. Everyone enjoyed the food... it was delivered piping hot, with a great smile.

I was undecided for lunch and looking for something different I came here and ordered a beef gyro to go. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this gyro. It was fresh, full, it had scallions, red bell pepper, and on top slivers of some kind of mild pickle. What a nice touch and only $7.49 with a free beverage. I will definitely be back for that and to try their spinach pie and baklava. Also the woman who took my order was very welcoming and friendly and the decor inside is warm and decorated beautifully. Looking forward to my next meal there.

Not sure why I haven’t ordered from here previously, but that’s my loss. Haven’t eaten inside yet, but have gotten delivery. Delivery is quick, food is still warm, and everything I’ve tried so far is delicious - chicken tikka, hummus, baba ganoush, med salad, pita. Can’t wait to order again and try some other dishes!

One of the oldest restaurant in town, so it was a must try, even though we were late for the dinner, they served us very well. Falafel and soup were great. They have good variety of desserts.

I love Ali Babas they always deliver! The owner is super friendly as are the rest of the staff. Even the rice is addicting!! Im sure its cooked in butter or drippings.The only thing I wish is that they would add more veggies to the plates rather than just one pepper and quarter of a tomato-- but this seems to be pretty typical for most middle eastern cuisine.

I’ve been wanting to try this place so badly and finally got the chance! Service was great! Mix Grille was juicy and tender! And please don’t leave without trying the homemade baklava. We tried the pistachioand the regular one. To die for!

I was just blown away by this place. The staff was extremely nice, helpful, and answered all our questions. The food came out very quick, from the hummus, falafel, rib eye, lamb chop, gyro etc... My friends and I had a royal feast! It is just mind-blowing how good the meat, vegetables and the overall dishes were. Let me finish this review saying that the mint lemonade was the best I had in my life, not too sweet, not too sour. Just very well balanced. If youre in the area and hungry, you have to come to this place.

A wonderful experience. I used to come here as a kid and stopped coming for almost a decade but the food did not miss a step. Still delicious. Stellar service. This place has been in business for almost 40 years and once you come and eat you will understand why.

First of all, it’s not a Turkish restaurant. The food is not fresh. We ordered kids menu for my 4 year old and chicken came burned. We felt the same burnt smell in chicken sandwich. We ordered mousaka and it was clear that it cooked days ago. Friendly staff. Hummus is complementary.

The food was Okay.Their online ordering vendor (Beyond Menu) is nothing but terrible. I put in an order, they called me and asked so many questions for verification. Once I arrived at the restaurant I was told that the order was cancelled by BeyondMenu. No heads-up, no courtesy call, no nothing.Ordered 40 Thieves Grill Mix (for 2) which was much less in quantity than for-2 meals Ive had in do many other restaurants.

Hands down the best Middle Eastern restaurant in all of Hudson or Bergen counties. We ordered delivery for the first time last week, during normal times we would usually just drop in or pick up. They have been here since the 80s and that is because they make wonderful food and have really nice people working here. We live exactly 2 miles from them and when I asked if they would deliver the owner said absolutely! I prefer to order direct when I want a delivery versus any of those delivery places. The food came hot and quick! We ordered a lot of food, enough for 4 or 5 and we are only 2 but we wanted leftovers and we are really happy we did. Everything was cooked perfectly, juicy chicken, awesome beef gyro, lamb kabobs were tender and full of flavor and lamb chops, my hunnys favorite. He said they were to die for! He didnt share them with me but he already said we need to order again soon and I want those lamb chops! The 40 Theives dinner for 2 people is the perfect way to have a taste across the board of what they have. You get beef gyro, chicken kabob, kufta, lamb kabob, homemade hummus and baba gannoush, seasonsed rice and a white garlic sauce very similar to a tzatziki just milder. Their meats were terrific and the baba gannoush was nice and smokey while the hummus was simply spot on! Have to order a side order of that next time to have more :) Also ordered Lamb chops, as I said before my hunny LOVED THEM. He has brought them up several times the last few days. Even though we had chicken in the 40 thieves, we also ordered chicken tandoori this was really tender and nicely seasoned. Not spicy at all, but I asked the gentleman on the phone which was his favorite chicken dish and he said this so we tried it,. Really very good, next we will go for the spicy and try Chicken tika. We tried grape leaves, spheeha and spinach pie apps. All very tasty and good. Overall, a terrifc meal, just as good being delivered, packed well and arrived hot. Cannot wait to go there and sit down and just have them bring us platters of food! If you want something different for take out this is the place. Love to support the local businesses and hey after 35+ years they definitely know what they are doing.

My husband and I got the Forty Thieves. Its a mix of chicken, lamb, kefta and beef gyro. All of which was amazing. The hummus was perfect. Ahmed and Vanessa took very good care of us. Highly recommend the pistachio baklava. This place is a new favorite for us.

The ambiance of the restaurant is average and as I entered i did not expect much. I ordered an vegeterian couscous. Surprisingly it was the best middle eastern dish I have ever had. It comes with a blvegetablensoup and couscous. It tasted very good and thanks to the server who helped me out to pick the dish. Also we ordered the pistachio baklava which also tasted awesome. Worth trying if you are in the neighborhood.

My family and I had an amazing experience at Ali Baba. The owner treat you like a family member. He was such a Kind person, as I went inside of his restaurant with my new born baby he moved his SUV from front of the store so I can park there. The restaurant is super clean. I have a lot to say about this restaurant but in short just dont go there.First of all, it is not a Turkish restaurant. It is Arabic kitchen! Secondly, food is terrible. Do NOT trust the images. They’re totally fake! It is awful. I ordered one of the dishes and got only bite and returned it and i paid $30 for it.Still everything is fine. I mean, food can be terrible but the staff is worse than the food too!Waitress tried charged me %18 tip for such an awful food. I went to Ali Baba for four people and paid $153 with the highest tip without asking me. I told them the tip is too much. Then I paid without the tip. So, for few days I found out that Alibaba charged me twice! First for $153 and $139. I called them for such a terrible mistake and they told me that they can not cancel the transaction which I am sure that all restaurants are able to do that. So, i called my bank to cancel transaction. After waiting to hear from the bank, Alibaba called me for their mistake and they told me that I should come to the restaurant. I went there and they told me that they can transfer the money to my credit card. Now, I find out that they charged me again for $149.I just wanted to have a good time in that restaurant and I’ve been regretting for weeks.PLEASE DON’T GO THERE!

This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The food is extraordinary and the service is fabulous. The outdoor seating has a beautiful view of the hi rise towers in NYC, everything is amazing.

The New Look is phenomenal! As usual, the staff is absolutely delightful and welcoming! The Hummus was outrageous, perfect consistency, and was not overpowered with salt. Their salads were on point and dressed properly. The Baba Ghanoush was smokey, flavorful, and delicious. Try the falafel they are delectable...a perfect bite to give you that crunch factor, and contrasting crispy texture that is always craved. Overall, an A+ experience. A must try for anyone who hasnt yet.

They are a fixture in the neighborhood, with good vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices, and possibilities also for gluten-free eaters. I had my last birthday lunch there, and got great service. I typically go on Sunday afternoons, when they are less busy. I can recommend everything except the desserts, but especially the split pea soup, the hummus, and anything with lamb.

The food here is AMAZING! We went on the recommendation of a friend and were blown away by the quality of service, the quality of the food, and the variety offered! Best Middle Eastern food we’ve had in a very long time! The falafel sandwich is to die for and the tahini is phenomenal! The salad is also über fresh and delicious! I was confirmed that I could have a falafel without jalapeño, but it tasted spicy. Grilled chicken was a little raw. Instead of a regular glass of water before meal, they served us bottled water. Although, I’m not even sure if we had to pay for it (I assume we did), because our check didn’t have any information about the order, just the amount we had to pay 🤷🏼‍♀️

Coming back from the city, I had a huge craving for authentic middle eastern food on my way home. I decided to do some quick research while I was sitting in traffic with my wife (she did the research). We came across Ali Baba Restaurant. Little did we know, this place is a staple for the Hoboken area for the last 36years and best known for their Falafel. We decided to pop in and give it a try. Man was it amazing. We were quickly greeted by the sweetest waitress Jackie and then by the owner Abe himself. We honestly felt like we were regulars from the moment we sat down. The place had such an authentic and warm middle eastern feel. From experience, these places are hard to come by and if you do, often something like the food or something doesnt quite turn out. We placed our order for Falafel, Hummus and a mixed dish that consisted of chicken and beef skewers on a bed of rice with salad and a piece of Kufta. This was the most authentic, delicious middle eastern food Id ever tried... hands down. My wife and I ate until we were about to explode. The portions were so generous we literally had to take the rest of our food home. We ate it all the next day and tasted as if we just picked it up! Definitely worth the experience and I would honestly recommend checking it out. Places like these are rare and few. Take advantage while they are still around. I know I will!

Absolutely delicious food! Theres nothing I wouldnt recommend, but personally love the fresh fried falafel with the hummus, and the shawarma sandwiches. The rice dishes are fantastic too, as are the fattoush salad, and desserts! Def check it out!

I can’t speak for much of the menu because I don’t eat meat, but all of the vegetarian options are exceptional. The owner is usually there and he’s a really nice guy. However, I felt a little scammed by the fact that they automatically bring you a bottle of water without asking and then charge you for it.

Good food, good environment, out standing experience... what more can you ask for? We had dinner for 5 last night, it was like 10 degrees outside. I went in to ask where the best place to park was and Brother Ibrahim literally stopped what he was doing and pulled out his car in front of the restaurant and let me park in his spot. The food was a reflection of this type of behavior. We ordered 2 40theives which was more than delicious and was more than enough for all of us. Matta fact i had that for lunch today. And i dont even write google reviews. Ali Baba in Hoboken gives you that authentic middleastern feel that would only rival the mideastern resturants of Paterson. Go there if you want good food and a good time.

Hands down best middle eastern spot I’ve been too in NJ. The falafal sandwich was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. Its got the perfect amount of heat and the tahina and homous was the best I’ve tasted. This is my goto for sandwiches now. Apparently theyve been in Hoboken 36 years! One of the few Hoboken gems still remaining. Great for vegans!

Ali Ba Ba is a fantastic secret Hoboken spot. The chef/owner makes traditional dishes that bring culture to Washington street. The tikka masala platter is a not to be missed dish for anyone who loves spicy food. The moussaka is flavorful and delicious. I highly suggest that you do not miss the Honey Cake for dessert. This family owned restaurant has a whole lot of heart and spirit in Hoboken, and you will walk away feeling satisfied with the middle eastern cuisine.

Wanted to try something new so went too this place a week ago and I most say hospitality amazing, delicious food,just ordered for delivery,they got here pretty fast, food was still nice and hot,,this restaurant is definitely in my top 5,most try.
