Good vibe, nice aesthetics. Blueberry lemonade donut was okay, nothing particularly special. Wife really liked the lemon lavender donut. Vanilla latte with homemade syrup was unique, but a little too sweet.

The coffee here is amazing. The wait can be long if there is more than one person ahead of you getting espresso. But I cant help but wait; I think Im addicted. Its just so good. Seats fill up pretty quickly inside, but its good to see that its popular.

Personable staff. Delicious coffee. They balance out the high price of a delicious pour over by offering a more moderately priced filter brew. Baked goods arent bad either. Seating isnt the comfiest or most plentiful.

Found the name intriguing so I stopped in and was blown away. The atmosphere is relaxed yet vibrant, the staff are excellent, and the coffee will make you melt by both sight and taste! Cant wait to come back to Lansing to visit Strange Matter again

Went in with my own 20oz mug to get it refilled. I got a regular black coffee, no pour over, no latte, no cappuccino, just plain black already brewed coffee. Well this refill set me back...$4.98, THAT WAS AFTER THE SUPER GENEROUS 10% DISCOUNT. I will never go back to this place or their other location. The coffee itself, I had to reheat it twice and didnt finish it until after 1pm (bought it at 9am). The coffee was bitter and rather flavorless, literally brown water with some bitters added. I got a pour over at another place in Lansing that was far better and half the price!

Strange Matter has delicious coffee. Its a nice place to study, but its not very homey. Its more of a clean modern vibe. I hear their donuts are amazing though I have not had the chance to try them yet.

Nice little place with some great pour overs. Laid back atmosphere that has work surfaces and power outlets for laptops and phones. Some seating at the coffee bar. Lots of people relaxing here, especially late afternoons and weekends. Attentive, friendly baristas. A great, lively addition to downtown Lansing. Limited food available. The coffee is the star attraction here.

Strange Matter has friendly staff and good drinks and pastries. They have vegan donuts too so thats a plus. I wish they had vegan muffins and more tea flavors. My only issue with them so far is that they do run out of vegan doughnuts from time to time.Other than that, I would recommend them. Ive also found it to be a good place to study or get some work done.

Staff has always been friendly. and you HAVE to get the donuts. Absolutely amazing, pillowy, doughy (not cake donuts) and every flavor ive tried has been good. The coffee is solid, although nothing groundbreaking. Can sometimes be hard to find a seat, but that means its good!

Staff seemed to have a bad attitude about a guy who just asked if anyone had money for the bus. Also they were out of vegan donuts and the almond milk separated in my coffee. Hot cocoa was good and my kid enjoyed the gf donut. There is one all gender restroom.

First and foremost... their coffee is only ok. I’d prefer many other places before Strange Matter, and thus I probably won’t be back for their highish priced coffee.That said, they have a great interior... very modern, clean, and open feeling. Staff is friendly, though a bit snooty (as many coffee places are). If you’re in the area and want to try something new, I’d recommend it... just don’t expect the best cup of coffee you’ve ever had.

The staff is always friendly and understanding of a beginner coffee lover such as myself. The place is cozy and peaceful even when they get a rush.

Hands down the best Americano Ive ever had! Their coffee is super smooth and has amazing tastes and aromas. The vanilla latte is sweet but not overly sweet like some chain coffee places. The donuts are to die for!

The fact that they have oat milk and vegan desserts is AWESOME!! the coffee is ok, really nothing different than Starbucks. But the customer service.....every single time I come here the employees seem like they hate their lives and arent very friendly. Id much prefer spending my money at Blue Owl, vegan donuts or not.

Coffee is very good. I am a huge fan of the Nola Iced Coffee. I am not a huge fan of their donuts. The texture is a little off to me. However their scones are excellent!

Their other shop is usually pretty crowded and bustling. This new space is perfect and a little more relaxed and comfortable. Love the outdoor patio!

Amazing cute little. Place great ambience.. Very classy N artisian cafe. My favorites so far are the cinnamon & honey latte with oatmilk. Most of their donuts are pretty good. I also liked their lavender rosemary latte ;) the seasonal one; quality lattes I personally feel that they are a bit over priced for an avg crowd! !!

Their vegan donuts are the best. I live in GR and nothing we have here compares. We always stop there when in Lansing.

If you like coffee, this would probably be a good place. Since I dont like coffee, I can say that their hot chocolate and vanilla steamers are very good.

5 stars for the Goomba Hat!! Lol okay, seriousness/professionalism though. I really enjoyed the coffee and I hope to try out their exotic flavored coffee next time. I bought a plain old black coffee this time around. If youre into straight up coffee and not into the fun coffee flavors that are served at bigby, but something like Starbucks, this is the place to go, and a local business (bonus points). I really liked the shops over all look as well. Very relaxing and a great place to set up a small meeting and discuss business or plans. Maybe work on your laptop or just sit back and watch pedestrians. I had no complaints and definitely felt this place needs a shout out on here. Please visit and give this place a try!

Good coffee, but the attitude of some of the clientele was a little pretentious. Not a good place to bring children too. The seating is very limited and people often bring their laptops and work at what tables are there. They sometimes have events to teach people about brewing and roasting coffee and thats pretty cool.

A large coffee is 12oz maybe and the price is a little high for the price. They were a little slow especially when you are on the way to work. Good coffee though!

Small, but quirky-looking and unique. First time I ever got a leaf design in the foam of my latte...very pretty. They dont seem to have a dark roast, but the latte was yummy.

Great alternative to your typical coffee places. They take great pride and great coffee. Be forewarned, each cup of coffee has a high amount of caffeine. Its the real deal!

This is an excellent place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the summer out on the patio, or in the winter at the window watching the snow fall. The quiet and friendly atmosphere makes it ideal for conversing with a friend or finishing up some work at one of there tables.

Out of the 2 locations, this one (downtown) feels the coziest. The pastries are delicious and innovative (read donuts with everything-bagle glaze).The coffee is always smooth and carefully prepared. My barista was kind and thr wifi was high speed. Excellent stop in a busy day!
