My girlfriend and I decided to check out the new shop after eating at Bufflo Wild Wings and talking about guns. When we arrived, I couldnt believe how opened and clean the place was. And I didnt have staff immediately come up to me and pressuring me to purchase a gun. We took our time, looked around and actually found a gun for the both of us. When we needed help, staff were always near by ready to give us a hand. They were very helpful and very professional, and they werent trying to sell us extra stuff with the weapons. She got a Springfield 911 and I got a Black Rain Ordnance Spec-15 rifle, something Ive been looking for months but everyone were sold out, including the company themselves. The prices are a little high for the weapons, but these are weapons I have not been able to find ANYWHERE for MONTHS. I had a wonderful experience and will be looking forward to coming back in the future to use the range or buy another firearm.Edit: I forgot to mention all the military vets and active military members working there. Its great to see them actively supporting the military and giving people jobs they feel most at home with. Coming from someone in the Marines, that was really great to see. I just wish they offered military discounts like every other gun shop and range out there.
Not beginner friendly. It can get expensive if you’re taking friends that haven’t shot before or have their own gear. A good place to go if you have all your own stuff.
Bought an ak there and I love it. They had ammo and weapons when everyone one else In Lansing was out of stock. Highly recommend they have the best variety of firearms in the area!
Went there today. Was my first time stopping in and they have a pretty good selection on guns. Prices are a little high but I wont complain. The salesman I dealt with was professional. Very happy on my choice. Ammo was there and they had a good selection of it. Prices were high on that as well but they have it. I was very pleased all the way around. Store was very clean. Will be back soon.
Yikes.Save yourself hundreds of dollars and go somewhere else.if you want to buy ammo youre better off buying from a dude on Armslist whos up charging from what he got it for because these guys are literally trying to scalp people. $37 for a box of 50 of seller and bell at 9 mm that was $10 for months ago? I just bought a box for $16 at Total Firearms last week and I thought I was over paying. The pictures above will detail the outrageous pricesEdited for owners response: Nothing says you care like a pre prepared statement to all the one star reviews and your response that seems out of touch with reality.Every other shop may have empty shelves but thats because they kept them at reasonable prices and continue to have to restock. But good luck staying open past 6 months.Edited 7/27/2020: The owner is now trying to say its out of state people leaving these 1 star reviews. Buddy its people who have been in the store or seen the Pictures. U can have all the good intentions u claim to have in your 7 paragraphs. But gun owners with more than 1 week in the game will not forget what u did.
750-1200 for a factory glock? This is the absolute last place I would ever purchase a firearm from. Shameful...
This is a very nice establishment, well set up.People who have great knowledge of the products they sell. The help is impeccable .
The personal is very friendly. Good at meeting your needs. Very good classes are offen. You can’t never get through when you trying calling. They never answer the phone don’t care what time you call.
Range 517 is now my favorite place to shop by far(and I hate shopping for anything).Every employee that I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with here is extremely kind and helpful. Also the entire store and range are very clean and very pleasing to be in. I Purchased an HK416 as well as some ammo here and again, everyone was extremely nice and more than willing to assist myself and my lady. I did plenty of research on ammo/gun prices and as of writing this (9/5/21), we found the in-store prices are about 15-20% cheaper on most items for guns & ammo(and that’s without a membership). My first gun store experience in the area was at Total Firearms and it went absolutely horrendously due to the D-bag range safety officer who was being very rude and condescending(if you look through their reviews, I wrote a legitimate one expressing my horrible experience with them earlier this year). So naturally, I was skeptical to try out 517 but it is now my new favorite store. Cant wait to buy more guns& ammo from these folks. Thank you guys.
Wow, Ive heard reports that gun and ammo prices have went up recently but I noticed several items 2-3 times higher here than at other places. I was in the store 15 minutes before I was greeted but I noticed a couple guys who walked in after me were approached by an employee first. Ive had my CPL longer than most and have owned firearms most my adult life! So with that said, teach your employees to greet everyone and dont leave out a woman thats dressed professionally cause I actually informed your employee about some holsters he had no clue about when I finally was approached. The displays are about the best thing here, but customer service and prices are more important so I WONT BE BACK!
Hello, I am leaving a review from my impression of my first time purchasing a gun from them, my impression of the store, prices, and some feedback.I also have a little bit of an issue with the gun I purchased, which if corrected properly, I may edit this review.Im so happy that Lansing finally has a big range building, for people who dont have their own property to shoot on, or a place to go for guns nearby. Im a Union Ironworker, we work all over the state but we sometimes work 7 - 12s with no time to do almost anything, Travel considered. Something like this nearby could be a gun hobbyist in the trades solution for gun time. I commend you guys for the selection, you have quite a few guns I havent seen around and have really wanted, like the pistol I purchased and am reviewing over.Sadly, the new startup was plagued by the pandemic, but the price issue is just too much, even places having problems stocking their shelves STILL sell the guns for what they are ACTUALLY just worth, no gouging. The gun I purchased was a Gen 4 Glock 21 SF. 10 rd, glock rail. It MSRPs for about 550 to 650, give or take some even more drastic differences.I was sold this gun TOLD it was Brand new, never been owned.Okay, 749.99, mind you, I had waited almost an hour just for a worker to try and find me a glock 21 just so I could feel the difference, because thats important when buying a gun yknow? The workers seemed lazy or undertrained, they asked things but made alot of clumsy errors that slowed it down, including I didnt like the way they kept picking up the product I was purchasing and just setting it down almost uncaring like onto the counters, its not theres, stop touching what Im buying. After about 2 hours of finally buying this gun, I take it home, get a better look at its internals and everything, this thing already has slide damage, scratches at the ends of the barrel, inside the bottom of the barrel is all marred up like its been shot decently, and deep scratches in the ejection port area, probably from rounds hitting it.Edited: [( Chris got with me on the gun, it came to them brand new and had shipment ware they said, and made things right the best they could. )]Your guyses membership sounds like a scam, you have to pay alot upfront and then you can pay off the monthly, I have a friend in Detroit whos range out there (topgun) is cheaper and the price is Yearly or Monthly, not so much a 1 time fee privilege to pay it monthly. I shoot a .45 acp vector, looked at their ammo prices: Yes, and it made never want to buy ammo there. At Topgun, I can buy the SAME box of about 400 rounds of 45 acp Winchester FMJ for literally HALF even NOW, 150 vs 75, and its in Detroit area, Im sure PLENTY OF PEOPLE shoot there or buy ammo there. Yeah, they may run out quick then, but atleast their customers will come back for that same price. The price gouging and blaming it on Covid or Buyers buying things isnt really an answer for that, or the membership fee, or even the class fee (cause you guessed it, theyre higher than average even now too.)Some feedback; Maybe lower prices, instead of ways of paying a gun off and not being able to have it is a better market strategy. Maybe hire better trained or better motivated staff, ones that dont waste time, act unprofessional infront of your customers, play around with their product like its not something Im literally here to purchase for ME. MaybeYou guys have such great potential, I really hope you find a way to make this right for us, because you are what we needed in lansing, except youre not what we want to pay an arm and a leg for. Things that are already fairly expensive and hard to get people into shouldnt be made to be even worse in both categories.Thank you Google reviews.
They had what I wanted, when most other stores have no inventory. It was priced reasonably well, and their service during the wait was impeccable. The facilities are clean as a whistle. Thanks, guys!
Nice place although prices are a bit high
Great customer service, decent prices, and high prices quality firearms.
Took my CPL class here which was in the fall time so it was nice to be indoors for 8 hours. Chris aka Buzz is a top of the line instructor and a great guy to work with very honest and safety oriented.Have come back many times to get accessories for prices similar to online such as a speed loader, carry holster, personal protection ammo when I need it. As well walked out of there with a S&W Bodyguard in 38 which I have been hunting for, for months now. It was a great price, the gun was basically brand new. The 2 people who helped me were not pressuring at all and were happy to get my paperwork done and moving. Overall I was in and out in about 40 mins albeit it was lunch time so that helped. Definitely recommend coming here for handgun classes, fire arms, and accessories.
Bought a semi automatic shotgun and only got 10 shots through it and now the barrel is sliding off. Take it back into the store and they say there is nothing they can do for us unless we are members. We can take it someplace else to have it fixed or they suggested selling a broken shotgun and then actually buying another one from them! I honestly think they took this gun as a return and sold us a used / broken one.
I just finished another extremely helpful handgun class. Ive owned and shot handguns for over a half century and there is no better way to confidently carry and learn different/new techniques. The instructor Chris was great. He has real life experience and is helpful. A fun and informative day. Thanks!2021 Update: I participated in Handgun 3. Fun class and fine tuned a lot! Instruction and feedback from the instructor Chris helpful.Note: As of Feb 01, 2021 Range 517 had lots of practice ammo (9mm, 5.56)
Facility was clean. Customer service was good. Ammo prices were on point with online pricing. Firearm prices were slightly higher than online pricing, but within reason given the current climate. Range costs were good. The only reason for 4 stars was that I took a buddy who had never shot before to try out the range. He was told over the phone (I dont know when) that he could rent a Glock 43 for range use. However, we we arrived, we were told that the rental program had been suspended. If/when the rental program gets reinstated, Id be willing to move the review to 5 stars.
People need to understand that Range517 is primarily a Range, not your mom and pop gun store. Yes the prices are high, but thats to encourage you to get a Membership! If you get a Membership you get 10% off anything in the store including firearms. A $700 Glock 19 comes down to $630.I took a CPL class here as well, Chris the owner, taught the class. I would to say that Chris is best firearm Instructor I’ve ever had! He said that He only teaches Philosophy based training. He doesn’t teach gimmicks, or cool range ninja tricks that look good on YouTube. He teaches what WORKS. For that He has my respect, and I will be taking more classes from Range517!
These guys are pretty cool. If they dont know your answer they will tell you, I dont know. Google does lol. Honest range for an honest man. Still want to shoot your tommy gun. Thank you again for your time.
Had a 1 on 1 training session where it was my first time firing or experiencing a handgun, a perspective altering experience is how i would describe it. Jason, the instructor, was very personable and thorough with the real world, legal, and ethical responsibility that comes along with owning and carrying a firearm. Very experienced and dedicated staff in this building and although the prices for the firearms may run a bit higher, you are paying for the quality and care that ought to be put into owning a weapon that can end a life. Thank you so much to the 517 range team and keep up the responsible and necessary work needed to keep our communities here in safe the safe hands of everyday people! ✊🇺🇸
I recently purchased a Smith and Wesson m&p the staff was super friendly and prices seemed reasonable as I have been to many smaller mom and pop shops that were charging more. I just came from another larger gun store down the road that stopped serving people 2 hours before they closed. I went into range 517 an hour before close and they still were letting people use the range and managed to help me purchase before leaving. Would definitely go back and maybe take a class or two.
I took my very first private class today with Jason. I was totally impressed! He took the time to explain everything I needed to know and made sure I was comfortable before going on the range. The service is great. The staff is fantastic and personable. I will certainly be a repeat customer!
Wow, this place is awesome, prices are a bit high but it is 2020. Went in for the first time on a Monday around 4 o’clock and a employee of the name of Richard came up and answered every question I had and let me know everything there was to know about the place. Very good looking place.
Highly recommended Range 517. The range is incredible and the service is off the charts. Just completed the CPL class and am looking forward to the next training class. The training programs Range 517 offers are exceptional and I urge you to speak with Chris, the instructor, regarding the classes. My husband and I signed up for memberships, it saves us money on everything at the range, i.e. guns, ammunition, all retail items and classes! Again, highly recommended, you won’t find a more helpful group of individuals.
Drove an hour to be at this place when they opened april 28 to get some range time . Range is closed for maintenance. Let’s be smart here business guys and do maintenance on the range outside of customer hours. They are too poorly managed to deserve my business.
Do not buy your ammo from here. Seriously dont.Do your research first and look online. The prices here are out of control and its obvious price gouging. You’ll pay more than double the going rate even during the pandemic. This is the type of place that preys on new gun buyers that dont know better. The staff was nice enough but honestly I’d feel real gross if I worked there.
They seem to think they’re the only place in the country with ammunition. Price gouging is the name of the game here. Very rude staff, especially when I said that the prices were through the roof. Over a dollar a round for .223 and 9mm. I didn’t believe my friend when he told me they were expensive, that was the understatement of the year.
Very cool employees and great atmosphere with a huge selection to choose from
Just did a firearm transfer just before Christmas. Of 2020. Overall customer service is lacking. Theyre definitely price gouging on their ammunition right now as of in December 2020. Total Firearms definitely has some cheaper ammunition at the same quality... gun range looks nice. But the 517 range is lacking positive people nobody seems eager to help 90% of the time they have to be told to go help a customer....
Had a Personal Trainer session today with Chris. Never owned a firearm before and learned a great deal about it, and more importantly, safety associated with it. Chris was very thorough in stressing safe handling and proper body positioning. When we moved to the range he was very positive and reinforcing of all aspects of what he stressed in the classroom. Would definitely recommend beginners start here.
Awesome place, state of the art! The atmosphere reminds me of a store/range I went to in Las Vegas. Cool to have something like this in Lansing! I researched prices before stopping in and store prices are in line with what I saw online. Also, many items I checked into were out of stock on my go-to sites but this spot was fully stocked - awesome. Staff was knowledgeable. Met the owner and you can really tell he’s passionate about what he does. Five stars for Range 517 - can’t wait for my next stop in!
Took the CCW class on Sunday 10/18/2020. I was very impressed with the facility and staff. Chris is in my opinion one of the best instructors in the country. Awesome experience. Very knowledgeable staff and intelligent instructors. I walked out confident, comfortable and very educated about carrying my weapon. Anyone who’s not that experienced and maybe a little intimidated will walk out feeling comfortable when you leave. I can’t say enough great things about this place! Thanks guys! You truly get what you pay for. So please quit whining about the prices it’s not that bad!
Every fire arm is over priced by $100 or more. do your research and buy from somewhere else. They have tons of ammo and 100% mark up of other stores. Nice place and clean but I will say this. I will never set foot in Range 517 again.
Ive visited Range 517 several times now and had a great experience every time. The building is large, open and clean. The range is reasonably priced and has an observation window. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Brian spent considerable time with my husband and I on our first visit, pulling out each and every pistol we thought might be the one for me. His level of knowledge with each specific guns feature, as well as practical info about carrying in general, was impressive. I left with several possibles in mind and never felt pressured to buy. I was helped by a very kind, elderly gentleman the second time when I had narrowed my choices down (unfortunately they were out of stock), and then finally on the third trip when I returned to purchase my brand new, beautiful Sig Sauer P365. My apologies to the young man who assisted me... he was very polite while I hazardly wielded my pocket knife to cut the zip tie... and my thanks to all the staff! We will be back!
Great facility, great people. Took their CPL class this weekend and had a great time. Chris Periott, or Buzz, was the instructor. I highly recommend this place. The ranges are great too. One of the few indoor ranges in the area that allow rifles bigger than .22LR as well.
Stopped in excited about a new “fun store” in town. Beautiful facility, but the prices are higher than every other store in town. I was deeply suspicious that might happen given the cost to build such a place and in the “high rent”neighborhood to boot. The employees seemed eager to help, if not somewhat uninformed. Nice place to visit, but I would strongly encourage shopping around before you drop any cash there to ensure you’re not being gouged. Despite the owner’s claims, I have seen plenty of inventory elsewhere in Lansing and the surrounding areas.
Selling 22lr ammo for 3 times the value! Very rude when asking a worker to wear a mask, and the only business Ive seen Without a lexon shield at the register. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Love the range. Super clean easy to use target machines. Staff is very knowledgeable of the weapons they have for sale and also the ones you bring in. Fair prices on ammo and range time. Very comparable to other spots in town. All around great facility.
I took there basic hand gun class and it was very informative and the instructor was easy to talk to and answered all questions. I cant wait to take the rest of the classes they offer.
Clean, inviting. Kind knowledgeable staff. It seems the new shooters fail to realize that ammo is expensive everywhere on the planet now. Itll get better once ppl stop buying it in bulk quantities. Ive been through a few of these shortages. Just take what you need and not what you want and this will blow over. Great business, give them a chance as its a crazy time for all businesses now.
Absolutely, unequivocally, the best experience, customer service weve ever had in a firearm establishment. Jason went above and beyond standard expectations and provided real-talk experience for my daughter to better understand her purchase. Doesnt go unnoticed! Thank you!
Me and my husband enjoyed our time that we’ve spent at 517 they make you feel very comfortable rather it’s your first time or not. I wanna say Brian especially made the visit memorable.
I went to their range on Saturday morning and had it all to myself from 10am to 10:30am. Every employee I met was very friendly and courteous. The facility is very clean and state of the art.30 minutes on the range with 1 target and military discount was $19. It is right down the street from and I will definitely be back.
First time going in today and first time purchasing. Incredible experience. Safe, fast, but not rushed. Employees know their craft, and are as helpful as you want them to be. I will certainly be back!
Great experience from the time we entered the door until leaving; we even came back the same day for range time. My husband and I decided to see what Range 517 had in store. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and offered assistance. Jason showed us various things I was looking for and gave us a tour. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. It was clean, organized, and I felt safe. We ended up coming back the same day for range time. Jason helped me feel more comfortable in the range and with my gun. Again, he is very knowledgeable and helped me a lot. Everyone who helped us was kind. I will be returning and I look forward to it.
I have loved all my visits to Range 517. The staff is kind and helpful. The stock is great, especially considering the current ammo difficulties. The range was fantastic and well maintained. Can’t say enough good stuff about them.
So lets address this idea of supply and demand are the reason for our price gouging that I see these clowns arguing.Across four different stores Ive found the same brand, caliber and round count box for numerous different rounds. Lets compare.6.5 creedmoorJays in Clare - $44Sportsman warehouse - $45Gil roys st Johns - $45Range 517 - $67450 bushmasterJays - $45Sportsman - $47Gil roys - $46Range 517 - $57Do I need to go on? These people are exactly whats wrong with the gun community and dont deserve anyones business. 0 stars absolutely sickening.
Drove by there a few times and finally checked it out with a friend. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and what they had in stock. So far ARs are plenty but could change as its a brand new place still and gun sales are high due to the political climate. Prices are where i expect in to be. Ive seen slight higher at other places at times than others but it wasnt extreme here for me and seeing the complaints on this left me scratching my head as my first visit today left me and my friend wanting to go back especially for the range. Staff was helpful and nice.
Clean facility. Nice lanes. Prior to this place opening, I would drive all the way to centershot in Dorr. This is my new range.
Went to the range tonight with my son. Ended up making a purchase. I thought the pricing was pretty much in line with respect to handguns to everyone else if not a bit lower. Didnt pay too much attention to rifles today. Spent some time at the range. Prices were fair and the guys at the range were not only VERY polite, but at one point someone in the range was fiddling around with their gun on the floor which is NEVER a good idea and someone was in there quick to reiterate the rules. Interacted with a total of five people including our salesman. This place is top shelf and I will return. Nice to have someone competing with other shops where they seem to need an attitude as a by product of the business. No room for that. Keep it up Range 517!!!
95cpr for steel case 223. Also their 10% discount is worthless. Im glad they can make cute stacks for display of ammo that is beyond ridiculous as far as pricing goes. Guy had no idea what a Ruger Mark IV was. Hard pass on this place.
New store ......very nice ...It seems to me that the cut and paste answer rings true and thats why they use it.If other stores are selling new old stock versus current pricing its no wonder its cheaper.BOLD move in todays world to open a new business especially a firearms store with a range. It is my understanding that you dont have to buy there to shoot there so support the range and support a local option for enhancing our rights.
Really nice place! The range is spacious and air conditioned. No sweating like at other nearby ranges. Eric was amazing! Shot the Thompson, M5, and AK 47! Was just as great an experience as in Las Vegas! The staff is very friendly!
Insane prices, they seem to only have cool guns and no others, everything is insanely overpriced and the range is barebones.
Awful price gouging on both firearms and ammunition. The owner of this place should be ashamed of what hes trying to charge people. Heres to hoping they go under sooner than later because shops like this give honest shops a bad name.
Super expensive prices. They are definitely taking advantage of the pandemic. Range is clean and new, but given how much they charge to shoot there it should be. $30 an hour, or a year membership for just shy of $700. Ouch!!Not a horrible location, and there is a Great Harvest next door. The best part though was I only had one person ask me if I needed help instead of bring bombarded by sales people.
Its sad to see the trolling in these reviews. This range is amazing and a welcomed service in our community. Well done and much appreciated! This cancel culture is insane.... theres something for everyone in this great country❣🇺🇸
This place was absolutely AMAZING! The owner and staff were hilarious, helpful, and genuinely kind! My sisters and I had a blast! We each left with a brand new firearm that we love, and will 100% be back soon!
Great experience. The staff is very knowledgeable and took time to explain the different fire arms and features. Thank you guys! I will definitely be recommending you.
Range 517 is great, and dont let anyone tell you different. I took their CPL course with Chris and it was excellent. Hes very knowledgeable, quick on his feet, and above all, safety oriented. Ive been to most of the ranges and gun stores in Lansing, including Not Just Guns and Total Firearms, and I think Range 517 hits its interest group very well. I like both TF and NJG as well and their prices are better on ammunition, however if I cant get the ammo their prices are irrelevant. Range 517 consistently has ammunition in stock, including 9mm, right now, in store, and they will next week as well. If I have to pay more for that because they have to fight for whatever is available on the open market, well, thats capitalism and supply and demand.
Although the facility looks very up-to-date very clean and very organized I find the prices to be quite insane. Bought my glock 48 about a week ago before I walked in to take a look at their facility it was almost $200+ more abouts. If you want to know about the pricing of my glock 48 I paid $448 plus tax. Theyre ammo is quite expensive not sure why youre charging about $0.89 per unit while other places are charging at the max 60 cents per unit around the same area. But it is what it is when online stores are prices are around $1 per unit. I will say that I would check out other competitors before making a final decision. Best of luck Im sure you will be around sorry you just dont fit my needs at this time. I will say that your range pricing for a new facility and state of the art is probably on par and I wouldnt mind trying it and I made within a week or two. I will say your range is quite amazing and the selling point its badass.
Amazing customer service. Answered questions and were happy to show and explain features of each firearm.Great experience for first time buyers. These guys are working hard despite opening during a time of unrest with shortages and inflated prices.Check out Range 517!
Had one on one handgun training with Jason today and it was excellent. Jason walked through all of my questions (multiple times) and assisted me at the range. Knowing next to nothing when I walked in, I am confident after one session that I can indepently handle the handgun. Well worth the time I spent.
I had a great experience using their range and am very happy to see a range open in Lansing! All these reviews complaining about the prices dont seem to understand the situation. Range517 just opened at the same time as one of the worst gun and ammo shortages that weve had in years! Of course they cost more, everything does right now! Its more impressive that they even have ammo in stock to provide to us! If you look online, youll see the same high prices and stores that dont have high prices are sold out. Thats just what we have to deal with right now, and paying a 3x markup is better than not being able to buy any ammo at all.
Range 517 has a great selection of firearms. Drove 75 miles for a class with instructor Chris. Signed up for another. Crew very knowledgeable
Went into building to buy a gun. I walked around and the team members were standing talking with each other.. I didnt get a hello how can I help you. There was a lady at front was helping a couple and two other men helping other customers. But the 3 workers standing around and talking to each other and not helping. 8 mins later I walked out.
Great handgun training experience, the instructor provided concise instruction, with tailored tips and feedback throughout the class.
Great facility, helpful staff and a nice selection of firearms. We purchased a S&W j frame on opening day and took the inaugural concealed carry class. Were very happy to have such a great place just 10 minutes away!
Top notch store and range! Recently visited while in town visiting and wish we had stores like this in MN. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and a super impressive store. Keep up the good work!
Good experience purchasing my first firearm. Everyone who helped me was very knowledgeable and friendly. They have a great selection of firearms and ammunition. Prices here are currently pretty rough but Im hoping what they say about the current economic situation is why and they lower them in the future.
Brian was extremely helpful and patient. He answered questions and provided excellent customer service.
Horrible service. Worse price gauging I’ve seen at a gun store. Went in to buy my wife a 9 mm and the one she wants was $100 over the prices of other stores even after I called and was told it was similarly priced compared to other stores. When I asked about the high price the employee was rude and told me that’s the price and they don’t price match and I shouldn’t have been told the other price. Not doing a very good job of building any type of clientele by screwing them over. Would not recommend to anyone. The 1 Star they got is for the man running the range. The only decent person I interacted with there.
So glad I stopped in. Excellent experience! With the current shortages, this is a honey hole. After visiting a few stores that looked all but cleaned out, I got what I needed. Kudos to the staff, too. They helped when I needed it and let me do my thing when I didn’t. I will be coming back for the range and more shopping in the future. A must visit if you’re in the area.
Chris is a great trainer with incredibly thorough teaching. Would recommend anyone to take this cpl and his handgun classes, you’ll be better for it.
Price gouging at its finest. More dirtbags perpetuating the ammo shortage.
Price gouging, gas lighting... this shop has it all!
I enjoyed my time here. The price I paid matched the research I did online. Ammo was a little pricy, however I have noticed they are one of the few that have it in good supply. Range was clean and professional. The staff has always very personable when I have gone in here. I have been here three separate occasions now and I can without uncertainty say I will be coming back again. The quality I have experience supercedes the higher costs some of the other comments mention.
They don’t even deserve the 1 Star... Terrible customer service. The only person that was nice was the guy in the range. Horribly overpriced!! Definitely won’t go back!
Impressive selection of guns and extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. It was great to actually have a lot of ammunition to choose from, unlike many others in the area. Looking forward to my next visit.
Took the CPL course here and it was an amazing course with a great instructor. All of the staff was helpful and was ensuring everyone had all of the appropriate equipment to shoot even though they were technically closed.
Went there today AND HAD A GREAT FAMILY DAY. Jason the instructor was really informative to my wife and son. Taught them BOTH PROPER SKILLS when handling a firearm and rifle.Jeremy was very helpful with showing us the PROPER WAY TO hold your firearm and rifle. Also he was kind enough to let me challenge him and not embarrasse me in front of my family (STILL THINK I CAN SHOOT BETTER THEN HIM LOL), but seriously I would recommend ANYONE to go to Range 517 and get a membership . The WHOLE STAFF will help you with anything. Thanks again guysJeremy L Mitchell Edmonds
Exceptional customer service, Knowledgeable employees. Cheap range prices, very well air conditioned. Only gripe is the price of Ammo.
Clean facility, Its definitely new and still trying to establish itself. During the pandemic they have opened their doors and its a struggle for any company currently let alone a new one. I have personally talked to several staff members and they have acknowledged the complaints about the costs of guns and ammo.Ask yourself these questions:With all priced hiked around the country and limited supply how did they stock the facility fully knowing the mass traffic that would come into their doors? How much did they have to pay/overpay for rounds and guns to get them in stock for those who came into their doors and absolutely needed the ammo? They werent sitting on a stockpile of resources for years and could be communicating with the vendors that they use to say hey we see whats happening we need more ammo and guns now. They were already ordering guns and ammo when things were hiked. Give them some slack. This is a supply and demand market and if you need it youd pay $500 for a glass of water in a desert. Give it some time and things will stabilize out.The staff are very knowledgeable. Took the concealed carry course and i was impressed with the level of knowledge that they had in the room. Staff on the range might come in a ask if youd like some pointers if there is something that they see you doing wrong or something that could help you. Theres tons of places that make you pay for that kind of information. I enjoy speaking with the staff whom are mostly veterans about weapons plans that they might do for the facility to bring a unique product to the community.Theyre going to be slowly fixing things and adding more. Ill be patient and watch everything normalize like it has done in the past. I would hope that you would do the same. Keep your eyes out for upcoming things at Range 517
Super friendly, love the open concept! Getting stocked, and awesome display. Can’t wait to go back and use the range.
The CPL class was awesome! Very informative. Chris is a great instructor. He was well verse in Michigan gun laws, dos & donts in self defense for gun owners and aspects of everyday awareness. He was also really good in teaching basic mechanics (i.e. grip, front sight focus, break point, etc).
Prices are so out of line. Go to Mason and save! Shame, nice place and close to home but do not recommend.
The prices there gave me heart burn so bad I thought I was thrust into the middle earth.I appreciate the store management answering my review with a copy and paste. I sure feel like this store really welcomes me and my opinions (sarcasm)
The owner responding to all these bad reviews with a copy/paste response is a bold lie. You would be disgusted if I showed you real up to date dealer pricing. They are blatantly price gouging.I would have kept to myself if it werent for the bold face lying responses to reviews by the owner....There are other issues with the place as well...like poor ventilation on range. Had to step back after every mag to breathe. I was the only person on range...Being muzzled, multiple times, by some expert firearm instructor takes the cake though.I wish my friends there well, but this place needs major changes to happen.
The place itself is really nice the people there seem really nice but then u see prices and ur eyes get really big pretty much everything in the store is double or triple over priced there range time is almost double that of other ranges it was gonna cost me 60$ to shoot for 30 min and a box of 50 9mm then I tried to pay with card and they turned me away told me cash only tried to put a review on Facebook they deleted my comment and blocked me and also did the same to my sister. wish them best of luck
Obvious price gouging going on here. A buddy of mine told me about their prices so I stopped in to see it for myself. If youre a new gun owner, please avoid this place like the plague. You can find much better elsewhere.
Has a great time on the range! So glad there is a nice range in town. My son and I will be back!
Had an awesome time ! Jason our instructor was very perfessional and helpful! Cant wait to come back!
My group and I care to use the range and we’re all greeted and treated beyond respectfully the Range it’s self was a very great experience prices on the guns may be a little high but they have a great selection I will definitely return to shoot more
