Had a great experience storing everything I owned here for a few months in 2020. Great rates, clean units, and great service.

I like this storage. It is clean and its location is in general convenient for me. I dont like the price goes up every few months.

(1) Since a new management took over the the cost started to go up on an exponential scale - it feels like! I know I could look up for another place. The managements bet on this decision is patrons inertia. (2) Last week, I was verbally and gesturally abused by other patrons because I did not let them in, while I was going out, meaning breaking the MAIN rule that says NO and is expected by the management from us, the renters. It was the second time. It was all on camera. I told the CSR that a way to stop this kind of behavior would be to make the perpetrator pay for a percentage of the storage cost of the person insulted. He smiled and inferred to me that, probably, no measures would be taken aside from him going to confront them in person. On the positive side, the fact that I drive one hour to get there and I do not move the stuff closer, is not about inertia (physicists mind) but a balance of comfort between pros and cons that did not go negative, yet.

Your manager Richard Barnswell was very professional, very very helpful and he walked me through the storage units and helped me pick out a storage unit I’m happy about and the price a month is very good and he had me sold and I purchased the storage the same day and the 5 stars are very deserved and looking forward to a good relationship through the storage.

Ive been with Freestate a few years after they opened, its at least 15 years. They have been excellent, great customer service and a clean property. Every manager has been a pleasure to work with. The longest and one of the best was Donna. Now Richard is the manager, he continues their streak of having great managers. I hope Richard is on board for a while too. I lived closer, but moved and there are facilities closer to my house, but I rather stay with them.

I made a reservation online for storage space and Jamaal called me to check on the reservation very shortly after that. He was extremely forthcoming and polite and his manner and attitude helped us make the decision to rent with Freestate. The choice for us was between Freestate and another place.

I am a wedding and event planner and I have had my unit at Freestate for years and have been very happy. The units are well maintained and always clean. I have not had any issues with pest in my unit like had with other facilities that claimed to treat but clearly did not. The staff are super freindly and very responsive. I highly recommend them to my industry colleagues.

They maintain the facility very nicely, but their billing is not very friendly. I am on autopay, and they like to raise your rates without any notification. When they do make a mistake, its impossible to get your money back. billing system is very archaic.

Oh NO! Third rate increase in just over/around two years. Below is previous review. My rating is based on frequent rate increases and lack of support for longer-term customers. I rented a second unit recently. I paid full price but when I rented a second unit at another storage location, they appreciated my business by providing me with continued great rates for my long-term unit and gave me a discount for the new and larger unit. That isn’t the case at this location.Rate increase twice in just over 15 months! I’ve had storage units in at least four other locations and I did not have a price increase for a number of years? First price increase was within 6 months and the latest makes 2nd increase in just over a year. For price increases so close together, the rating is 2/5.

Freestate Storage is a great storage facilty. Its very clean and well lit and open 24/7. The staff is very polite and helpful for any questions you might have.

I first started looking for a storage unit last summer. I had to put it off until this year. I was impressed with the customer service I got back then. So when the time came this year my choice was obvious. The prices are fair, everything was clearly explained to me, I was even shown choices of the units of the size I was looking for. I feel very comfortable with my decision.

The customer service is outstanding and I’ve never had an issue with my unit. I’d recommend it to anyone and I did. My mom just signed up for her own unit.

Donna and her team are very professional, thorough and provide a very positive experience! Often moving and storage is very stressful; yet, they handle everything calmly and professionally. Everywhere you look is tidy and the entire campus is well kept. As a matter of fact, we were working on the unit very late one day and a huge storm was moving in. Donna came through and warned us to get out of the weather. Who else does things like that now a days? I would recommend them to everyone. Competitively priced and good web deals too!

When Mom went into the nursing home, I put her belongings in a Freestate Storage Unit. The facility is always clean and I felt safe going there, even after dark. Best of all, the people in the office are fantastic! They are friendly and helpful. I wish all businesses were run this way.

I have been a customer for 3+ years, the customer service is always excellent and the facility is extremely well maintained. Today we found we had lost the key to our unit and Donna stayed open late to cut the lock so we could get to our Christmas decorations and for only the cost of a new lock. If your are looking for an off site storage facility I highly recommend Freestate in Laurel.

The ladies (one younger and one older 7/25/15) in the office are lovely. More than just courteous and professional, they go out of the way to accommodate and ensure you have a full and thorough understanding of everything. I was dealing with a sudden and difficult time in my life which of course they were not aware, but I really appreciated interacting with them.

The facility tries to raise rates every quarter. I expect the letter for a rate increase come every few months at this point. Upon my previous review, the property manager had agreed to keep the rate set for six months. They increased it the following year as agreed but then within another few months, I got yet another letter for increase. My current monthly rate is $141. It started from $98.

I had 3 storage units in their Laurel, Md property. Their customer service and facilities were outstanding. The pricing was competitive to say the least. I highly recommend them.

Donna the manager here is the epitone of customer service . She made the entire transaction professionally done. I must say that her assistant manager was very pleasant and provided exceptional customer service as well.

I moved to Maryland in 2013 for a job. I had a lot of stuff leftover from my hometown and began scanning for the cheapest unit to rent for a bunch of boxes and a couch. Free State Self storage had the lowest base price and best intro deal at the time. I called and got the property manager Donna who was super sweet and informative without being overbearing. I settled on a unit and got a further discount for setting up Auto-Pay. She personally showed me the property and my unit. My auto pay fell off due to a changed credit card and I ended up being late a few times by 3 days or less, they sent me an email and called but were very polite about it; no threats to evict or raise prices, and no added fees. I moved out today to go to Boston and it was a very smooth process, I was already paid up thru end of the month so there were no extra charges, just move out my stuff and broom sweep the unit. Well run business with great people, highly recommended.

It takes a lot for someone to go online and leave a review for a storage unit. You dont normally have much contact with the office after you rent a unit. However, I have supplies for my job that are shipped to my unit and UPS has been a pain in my butt! The staff at Free State Self Storage has went above and beyond in helping me fix those problems. They have made sure my stuff was never left outside of my unit and has even went as far as putting my stuff in an empty unit with a lock on to protect my stuff. They are always so polite, helpful, and they communicate any issues. I really appreciate all the help they have given me and i would recommend using them to store any of your stuff!! Thanks again to the staff current and past as they always seem to hire great people here!
