Well worth the drive from Mission - best grocery store in the area - huge selection from grocery basics to high-end specialty foods to ingredients for special diets. Excellent quality butcher, bakery and deli. Plus the whole store is nicely laid out and pleasant to shop in.

The largest and cleanest Hen House I have been to. Lots of lunch options in this place. Went in to grab a salad and couldn’t believe how many people were inside. Salads, sandwiches, grilled foods, wing bar and even an olive bar. I went around lunch time and cars were circling and waiting on people just to get a spot. Plan on just parking in back and walking a little bit. The line for Starbucks inside was wrapped around the corner too. My photos are just from one side.

Im really impressed. Its such a fun place! I found everything I wanted and more. I got all the ingredients for my friends birthday dinner. Am especially happy with the fresh salmon and special cheese for the quiche!!! Even got a Rewards card at the checkout. Nice people also. Will be going back soon!!!

This grocery store is far above average. The quality and breath of selection of produce is excellent. The bakery has a great selection of Tippins pies, breads, and very good pastries. The meat department is outstanding. Superb cuts of beef, pork, lamb, and veal you usually dont see in most grocery stores. Likewise the selection of fish is great. The rest of the store gas the usual, but sometimes a wider selection. The ice cream area also has a wider selection of treats than others. Parking is ample, easy in and out.

Store was clean... A little hard to find some of the items I was looking for but the employees and other customers were helpful.

Absolutely love this store. The people in the bakery are friendly and very helpful. Prices are high, but the quality of food is exceptional. Nice to go to a store where the employees are happy!

They have good solid ingredients but the burritos are awful because they refuse to mix the ingredients together before wrapping. The result as you an see is a couple bites of just egg then a bite of solid melted cheese then a bite of chopped bacon. Arghhh!!!!!!

April 20, 2018It was late, steak was on sale, meat man wasnt there, so I left my number. Next morning meat man calls and cuts up 100 pounds to my specifications. Since he hadnt been there, I checked out the floral department. I bought a bird nest with Robin eggs. Lynn Silvey, Floral Manager, very talented. She made the cards in the pictures. Deborah F., cashier, very cheerful for being so close to closing. She loved my perfume, I brought it to her when I picked up my steaks. I cant forget Jay, hes responsible for the communication between the meat man and I and showing me where to find the last few things on my list. I have a book of coupons I bought the next day that saved me $10. I will be back.

Town Center Hen House in Overland Park at 119th and Roe has a great selection of Fresh produce, handmade like homemade sandwiches ready to go, a salad bar, cheese bar, Deli and a 5 foot flat stone grill for making fresh stir fry, along with a variety of meats to slice and about a dozen vege/tuna/ turkey/ chicken salad mixes. Reasonable to higher prices for quality products. Helpful staff and clean store. Disabled accessible. This is one of my Favorite Grocery Stores in the entire area. Mgb. 4-12-2021

The store is immaculate, well organized, (easy to find what you’re looking for) well lit and has good prices. My wife swears by this specific Hen House Market and I never realized why until I went with her.The only issue was that the self check out was a little finicky but that’s a corporate problem, not a local problem, so it doesn’t seem right to deduct a star.

Best grocery store in the area, with a wide variety of merchandise, well stocked, clean and well chosen staff who are attentive and hard working.

Like most of the workers as helpful and courteous. One or two are harsh to deal with....nice layout, easy to get in and out.

Love a great deal of things they do at this Hen House, wonderful meats, fish,deli! One HUGE problem - doesn’t matter whether it’s strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, bananas, limes or lemons - they ALL. go moldy after several days, over & over again! Hen House is very clean and they are taking great pains to insure masks are warn. Jackie the customer service desk is a great example of friendly knowledgeable down home service. She should train new emoyees.

Beautiful store, great quick meal options, and my favorite part: Laura, the cheese monger. If you need cheese she is GREAT! She really knows her products, is super helpful, and has a great attitude. Did I mention they have roughly 200 cheese options here?! Amazing! Personally, I prefer the cheese department here over all the others I have visited in the metro. There are a few cheese choices that Whole Foods has a better price on but for the convenience and helpfulness of staff, I’ll stick with the Hen House. Well done, Hen House, well done!

I love this location so much. The deli, hot food, sushi, fresh salad, bakery...can I just live here? The employees are so nice, its always so clean...and my children arent here screaming.

Very unsatisfied with the cashier named Cheryl. Usually, their cashiers service is very nice but not this one. I heard she ask her assistant to check if anything in our cart after I paid. This is very impolite!! I hope the manager can educate her to being polite!

What I love -- The grill where you fill up a bowl and they cook it in front of you for $8/lbWhat I hate -- They only have the grill open until 1:50pm (they advertise 2pm but have it all put away before then)

Good produce, a nice deli, salad bar, Mongolian BBQ and a Starbucks. A bit on the pricey side for typical groceries, but its very convenient and if you buy things on special, its not too bad.

It was very clean and they had what I was looking for. I needed a large amount of bulk arugula for work. I manage a restaurant and ran out of this ingredient due to the popularity of the salad it goes in. The people who work there were very friendly and helpful. I was able to get in and out quickly.

BAD FRESH MEAT (DO NOT PURCHASE)I officially am never going to use this store for their fresh meat (butcher) again. I love this hen house for its higher quality variety of basically everything but the last 5 times Ive gone to this store for fresh chicken, it has been awful. Any other hen house I get chicken from, the chicken lasts a few good days in my very cold fridge. This hen house chicken ALWAYS lasts MAYBE 2 days before it starts to stink bad. At first I just told myself I would make sure to only get it if I used same day. However, my last trip to this store, we walked into the meat section and immediately realized the entire butchery smelled like bad meat. I got a little chicken, smelt it just to be sure, it was completely fine. I also always check the sell by date when they give it to us and Ive realized that the meat is always long past bad by the listed sell date.I dont know if the temp of where the meat is stored just isnt cold enough or if they are just keeping meat way too long but I would highly suggest no one gets fresh meat from this store.My main hen house (College & Quivira) does not have as much variety in items which is why I sometimes go to this one but I can confirm their meat is ALWAYS good and lasts a reasonable time and has never once made us sick. Plus their meat section has NEVER smelt ROTTEN when just walking by it!!Everything else about this store is great which is the only reason this review is a 2 STAR and not 1 STAR.

Always a good experience. They disinfect shopping cart handles so I only shop at Hen House now and after the pandemic.

I only shop Hen House occasionally. I feel their prices are more expensive than their competition with the exception of some of their sale items. I like their selection of meat and seafood. Their produce always seems to be fresh as well. I shop there when convenient and for sale items.

Love this particular one with Mongolian style grill, Starbucks, home style wings, and great selections on seafood and aged steaks. It’s cleaner than most of the grocery stores in town and better in quality as well. Love the fact that they support local vendors. The only downside to this store is that they need more help at checkout.

One of the best supermarkets I know. They have nearly everything I can wish for and the personnel is very knowledgeable about their products and above all very friendly. Only feedback I can give them is that theyre by far not the cheapest supermarket, which makes me often go to other places.

The Store is always clean, well stocked and offers items that other local stores do not. Went into the Store this am to see if they had any of their Multi Colored Freshly Fried In-store Corn Tortilla Chips, which they did. Great store to shop, Chopped Salad is great & their Bahn Mi Chicken Sandwiches are the bomb!

Just shopped our wonderful neighborhood Hen House--however, only half of the employees were wearing masks (75% of the customers were) Please help all of us stay healthy.

Hen House has FRESH squeezed Orange Juice, which you can make yourself. They have at least a 6 foot diameter stone grill, where you can watch your selected menu items grilled by chefs, while you watch with only a few minutes waiting time. Hen House has a wide selection of fresh produce, pastries, fishes, and items only they have. The prices are higher. Convenient location by Town Center and lots of parking.

This store has a really nice atmosphere. They do a great job with displays and provide plentiful samples in the produce area. There are lots of ready-to-eat fresh meal options that you could pick up for lunch, for example. The prices here are sometimes higher than other places, but the store has everything you need and feels high quality.

Our unlikely destination for a quick dinner. We love the fresh Mongolian Barbecue. The Pho is good too. Tried the Pork Ban Mi but found the bread wasnt fresh.

Im having a hard time writing this review because I hate that this has happened... TWICE. First let me premise this by saying that I love Hen House and I go about 4-5 times a week to get chicken from the butcher. However, last night was the second night that an unfortunate thing occurred. The first time was last summer and my son and I were at the cash register. The lady scanning my groceries, looked at me, looked at my bi racial son, looked back at me and asked if he was mine. She then asked when I was going to cut his hair. I told her I dont know? why? I was so caught off guard. She then looked at me from my shoes up with judging eyes and asked, Do you work?. I was so shocked and confused with what was going on. I didnt understand her reason for asking these questions. Second incident happened last night: Im at the check out and the bagger looks at my 3 year old son and asks, Is he yours? I said, yes in a tone that made it clear that his comment was unwanted. He then said, Im going to ask a personal question, but is he adopted? He kept prying as in he couldnt believe that my biracial child was mine. The cashier looked uncomfortable, I WAS uncomfortable. I wanted to tell him it was none of his damn business but I also did not want to cause a scene and my son was watching. I called the store manager immediately and he preferred to have the official store manager call me today- Im still waiting on a call. This is absolutely disappointing, disgusting, and I cannot believe that someone had the nerve to ask such personal and invasive questions about my son.

This is one of my favorite grocery stores for many reasons. First of all they are in a fantastic location, the store layout is new and fresh, and the employees are the most helpful. I will say that the prices can be a little more expensive but its worth it for the great service and convenience. The Herb Roasted Salman is amazing and the fried chicken is so crispy. The salad bar has an excellent selection and always looks clean and well maintained.

I tried to order flowers to be delivered to KU med at Indian Creek. I was put on hold for 15 minutes. Two calls later when I finally reached the floral department, the woman could not have been more rude. Her first question was How much do you want to spend? To me, this is not helpful. Not knowing what their pricing is like, its totally random to pick a number. When I asked when they would be delivered, she less-than-helpfully responded that she didnt know. The delivery guy was already gone. I told her I thought it might be better for me to go somewhere else. She replied, Fine. Bye. and hung up. Wow.

This Hen House has always been a good grocery store, but Im really impressed with their Mongolian Barbecue. The Mongolian Barbecue restaurant inside the store is fantastic and equal to other restaurants with Mongolian grills.

This is my favorite Hen House. I will go out of my way to go here. They have a variety of choices at lunch: sushi, sandwhiches, salad bar, Mongolian grill, preprepped bar with chicken and other items. The dining room is modern light color decor with a lot of natural light and a large fireplace.This is also a great place for those days where no one in the family agrees with what they want to eat. My picky eaters can always find something which life much easier.

Full selection of Boars Head meats and cheese in the deli. Full selection of Farm-to-Market bread right next to the deli. What more could a shopper ask for?If youre going to the deli at Hy-Vee or Price Chopper (or even worse, Walmart) instead of Hen House, shame on you. Even if you live in Smithville, Platte City, Kearney or some other remote place north of the river, its worth driving that far.

Had meatloaf, half of bake potato, and stir fried vegetables for lunch only $6.99. Every restaurant was so busy. Glad I ate here. It was delicious.

Clean store that is very convenient. My only issue with this store is that it is sometimes hard to find things and and the signs do not tell you everything in a given aisle but rather only lets you know what is on the first 1/2 of the given aisle.

Decent selection of fresh kosher food. Pleasantly surprised that had fresh baked goods and deli. But was a bit pricey and didnt realize that Kansas taxes groceries.

I’ve really enjoyed shopping here but today’s experience was so wonderful that I wanted to make sure I let people know.For the last two months I’ve decided that I wanted to get my wife a special chocolate toffee French silk pie. Today is our anniversary so I thought today would be the right time. I came by and they were not available. The ladies told me that they stop making that pie. But that if I Had 10 minutes they can make me a fresh one! So I browsed about and learned about other wonderful products they had available that I have not seen before then lo and behold one of the ladies showed up with the pie. Although this scenario seems inconsequential, let me remind you I’ve been thinking about getting this pie for two months. As a special treat for my wife on a very special occasion. These two ladies made me smile so much I’m pretty sure I left the store with the very same smile as I had when she put the pie into my hands. I wish I had gotten their names. But I am extremely thankful for their service. They are both women who have good hearts and care for other people. I’m sure they are so genuine as to have done that no matter where they were. Congratulations to henhouse for having amazing people on their staff !

Great store with all the options you can imagine, their food court has so many options and cuisines to pick from. My favorite part is the cheese stand with the hundreds of options of fine cheeses.

Everything looks so fresh, displayed beautifully. People always friendly. I mostly visit to purchase the Tippins Quiches but always walk out with other things. They are a little expensive but if you shop their ads and seasonal things, you can keep things moderately priced.
