Came in for a muffler and tail pipe. The service advisor noticed the incorrect muffler for our truck that was previously installed. When he looked up the correct replacement we discovered why as that muffler was gonna be $500 for the part alone. He got creative and saved us hundreds with a crossfit from another vehicle. That’s great service!!!

Go to waukegan or McHenry CarX. You will get WAY better service. Manny is completely unprofessional and rude every time I have gone in. And the way he talks to the employees make them rude as well. I’ve said “hello”, “thank you” or “how are you” on multiple occasions to the employees and they all just give a blank stare and completely ignore you. But that wasn’t my real issue.. I Went to check and see why my dashboard light went out (fully prepared to pay for employee time, diagnostic fees etc.) he just kept mentioning that their time wasn’t free (which I’m fully aware of, so no need to reiterate over and over again?) Didn’t even listen to me when I told him what was going on, continued to cut me off. I just wanted to know why my dashboard light wouldn’t come on and what I would need to pay to fix it. He mentioned my head light was out and wanted to replace the bulb and quoted me $40 for everything(Just bulb replacement and taking a quick look at my car). I told him I didn’t need it, and that I had just replaced the same bulb 3 weeks ago. Something else is wrong. He Didn’t listen. He then throws his hands up in the air and says “well then why do you even come here?” I was completely shocked at how audacious and rude he was being. And told him AGAIN that I only wanted to know what was wrong with the electrical issue on my dashboard and that I would pay for any time spent looking at it. He then said ok “give me like 10-15 bucks then.” Ok...? Super unprofessional and I gave him the money so I could just get out of there as fast as I could. He has tried to jump in my pockets every time I’m there and is super rude when I decline and say I would just like the service I initially came in for. If you treat all of your customers and employees like a burden as soon as they walk in the door why do you still work here? No I don’t have $400 to pull out of thin air and I don’t feel like dealing with you scoffing and cursing under your breath when I POLITELY decline. Idk if he was just having a bad day or what...either way,Completely unacceptable and I will never go back to this location. I will tell my friends and family the same .

The staff is very knowledgeable and definitely customer service oriented. They are honest about service needs and recommendations and truly consider the customers vehicle maintenance goals in determining these. The work is excellent and pricing is within reason and competitive. They also offer free ancillary services such as car loaners, shuttle service and exterior car wash which is a definite plus.

Manny, who is very friendly and courteous, quickly diagnosed and (or one of his mechanics) replaced the control arm bushings and changed the oil on the spot on a Saturday and was done right on time as promised. The price was much less than what if was quoted at three auto repair shops in the vicinity. Very pleased!!

Had a tire catch a nail on Saturday. Most shops had closed by then, but they were open until 4:00. I pulled in a little after 3:00, and they were very quick to figure out what happened, patch the tire and have me on my way.Prices were very reasonable for the work as well.Good shop!!

Brought my 2018 Subaru WRX to Manny and his techs after the dealer quoted me like 650 dollars for an axle seal. Brought it to Car-X and Manny quoted me 150. Told him thats a totally fair price (alldata and prodemand have this repair listed at 1.0 hours of labor so this is a really good and honest price he gave me) and to go ahead with the repair. We had to order the seal and Manny explained it would arrive Monday. Monday the seal came and Manny installed it, he calls me to let me know unfortunately the seal was not the issue and that something else is causing the leak. He explained he was looking into it and would call me later with an update. Around 3pm Manny informs me that were all good to go!. I asked what the issue was, Manny explained someone had installed an aftermarket axle and had damaged the splines in a way that prevented the axle from seating properly. He explained his tech was able to clean up the splines and get the axle to seat fully within the transmission. Total bill was $200 (I happily agreed to the extra 50 given that they had to have put 3 or 4 hours of labor into this repair) out the door, thats FAR less than any other shop in the area would have charged. Manny and his techs saved my day and got my car working right, I will be back for sure. These guys are the best

The overall experience was excellent. Owner was pleasant and informative and did not try to sell me on random work that did not need to be done. The car parts and service was very reasonably priced and was completed in a timely manner. Would highly recommend.

0 starts if I could. This place needs to be seriously investigated for pocketing money. Break job quotes for $248, upon pick up I was told $402. I had to get the police involved being the quote was wrote down by the same man trying to charge me more. I walked away paying $248 as quoted because this form of Price gouging is illegal

The air conditioner in my Ford SUV was not blowing cold air so I took it to Car-X for an a/c recharge. Manzoor and his tech told me that it was blowing 45 degree air which is good. They noticed that it was just not blowing out very hard. They looked into it further and found that my cabin air filter was so dirty that it was blocking the flow of air. I left as a happy customer. Highly recommend- honest, efficient, and knowledgeable, I have an old Range Rover- it was due for some big repairs. Dealership costs were astronomical- Manny at CarX gave me the honest news- what was needed, what was not needed (refreshing!) and then Manny researched where to get the best prices on the parts I needed. This is my go-to repair shop around town for oil changes and just routine car maintenance. Staff is friendly and honest. Prices are reasonable and I have never really had an issue here. I like that they check your car to see if there is anything wrong, even if you are just getting an oil change. Some places do this as well, but I have noticed that not all of them are honest about it. In Car-x, I feel like they are honest because everything that they have told me that needed to be replaced, actually needed to be replaced. For example, I started to notice that my serpentine belt was making some noises, but I didnt think much of it. Then I went to car-x to get an oil change, and they told me that my belt needed to be replaced without me even telling them that.

This place is great! Very friendly and helpful crew. Service is lightning fast. Prices are more than affordable. Im more than satisfied.

Oil Change October 3rdThe establishment down the street from CARX did not have the correct oil filter for my car so I stopped at Carx. Mr. Ahmad assured me that they had it and I would be in and out in a half an hour. Listening to the screeching and groaning of the lift made me uncomfortable as did the dirty, untidy shop but I figured he had already started so I would give him the benefit of the doubt. He came back in the office about 15 minutes later and said they would have to order the filter. When I voiced my displeasure he admonished me and said I had no right to be angry and that he promised me a half an hour and that was what it would be. The filter finally arrived and Louis started work on my car. As the time got longer and longer I would glance through the window and see Louis kicking the milk crate and just very upset with the way things were progressing with my car. I was growing more apprehensive by the minute and when I asked Manny how things were going he was very condescending and rude. It is my estimation that he would not have treated a male customer with the same disrespect that he showed to me. Louis finally had another guy come help him put the filter in. Once it was done and off the lift after much screeching it took two of them another 20 minutes to reset the change oil code. When I noted that there were two new dirty smudge marks on my seat, Louis cam out with a old rag and a spray bottle that would not spray. I refused the cleaning and left. Needless to say the entire experience was more like an hour than a half hour. I had a very uneasy feeling after I left so I stopped at the original establishment where in hind site I should have waited in the first place. They looked to make sure the filter was in correctly but when they checked the oil level they determined that the oil had been overfilled and had about two extra quarts. They finally ended up draining it and adding the proper amount back in. They cleaned the area around the oil reservoir which had oil all over it, rechecked the oil level, let me know they were going to order the proper filter to have on hand, charged me nothing and sent me on my way.I will never go to another CARX! They need to service their lift, clean their shop and get a new manager and more experienced help.

I purchased a used car and I went here to get some tires put on the rims. None of the tires were balanced despite spending total of $74 on the whole thing. I had to get the car to my trusted shop. + they tried to over sell me a front shock. Turns out, all the shocks are like new. I would never visit this place again.

This shop is thorough and honest! They will take the time to diagnose the problem, estimate the repairs, and fix them correctly with quality parts.

Car broke down 10 mins before heading to Florida.8:30 AM the owner went into hyper drive to find a rare part . By 9: he found the parts, had them shipped over and a couple hours later our family was on our way. Manny saved the trip.👍

Normally I do most of my own car servicing. However, when replacing the struts on my wifes 2006 Acura TSX, I was not able to finish the fronts due to time and some very stuck bolts. After looking online I decided to bring it to this Car-X. The crew was able to install the new struts flawlessly, and also aligned the car, and changed the oil as requested. Had my oil changed last minute a few months ago for a great price. Went to Jiffy Lube in Vernon Hills yesterday and they wanted $40.00 for the cheapest oil change! Needless to say I brought it back to CarX for an oil change costing $19.99 :-) upon further inspection of my 99 Honda Accord, Craig noticed the control arm on the left side was extremely weak (which I knew would need replacing prior to the inspection) had the work completed by the next morning for $300.00 and they gave me a loaner. Sidenote: My previous control arm on the right side was replaced by Platinum auto. Took them over TWO WEEKS and an out of pocket rental fee -_- I would recommend CarX to everyone!

Went to Libertyville for a used car test drive, I called CarX ahead of time to see if they can do a 3rd party inspection. RICK said there would be no cost - FREE. Its just that they cannot write up a list of defects because of their existing relationship with the dealerships. This is all good because I only want an honest 3rd party opinion.Test drive went well, drove the car to the shop and there was RICK! I mentioned I called in earlier and wanted an inspection. He asked for the keys and went right out. Took a short drive for me and jacked it up to look at the underneath of the car and stuff with 2 other mechanics.The car came out clean, RICK gave his honest opinion and I was assured that there was no costs involved. They had the car with them for a good 15-20mins, for FREE?! I was speechless and I could not walk away without offering them some beer-money :) Thats the least that I can do for such an excellent service they provided, for a new, walk-in customer!I am very impressed, these are the people who made my purchase a breeze. I am a medical carrier. I was introduced to Car X when leaving Condelll Hospital. My tire was shredded. Car X was close. They had a tire for $50 and stayed late to put it on. 👍Three weeks later at the same hospital--my car wouldnt start. They remembered me. Sent a crew to my car and determined that I needed a starter.They had a shiny new one on hand! Their buddy towed me there. And I literally drove off in less than an hour!Car X was like my personal Indy road crew. And, in my business this helps saves lives. ❤️

After getting new tires put on at discount tire they give you a promotional coupon for $60 alignment at car X( normally around $99 . Which is a GREAT deal of course I took it and went to a Car x to do alignment after all it saves me about $30. The guy proceeds to ask me Sir when was the last time you replaced your shocks and struts ? At this point I know where hes going with this and I say I know I need it done I will do it myself. He proceeds to tell me because your INNER and OUTER tie rods are loose. We will not do the job you are wasting your money now if you want sir we can order two front struts and inner and outer tie rods to the tune of $899 and do the Job but we wont do Alignment now. I am baffled at this point because if one tie rod is bad you would most likely need the other one done as well its only a matter of time. My brother is a mechanic and checked my car out two weeks prior and said ALL is good no rattles no loose nothing as he did a full inspection after doing my oil change. I left feeling like my car is a mess not safe to drive and I am scrambling to find money to fix it before this road trip. After speaking with my brother he said that weird I didnt see or feel or hear anything and since we did oil change I work from home I put on AT most 150 miles did not hit any pot holes nothing. He advised me to go to NTB and get a second opinion for $98 NTB did an all around inspection and told me no loose tie rods all is good and did my alignment and gave me 6 months warranty on it which CAR X did not offer any warranty. Bottom line is they wanted to make a fool out of me and make some money they took a big gamble lost a customer and made me feel like DOO DOO after I left. NEVER again will I go to them again WORST place to deal with not to mention dirty shop be advised STAY AWAY you will come in to get one thing and they will tell you that your car is falling part you need XYZ done. At this point i think they didnt want to do alignment for 60 since they normally charge around 100 which made no sense to me since if i came back and alignment is still off id have to pay again anyway to get re done since there is no warranty behind there work. UNREAL the guys name is SOCKET or something like that. I will be following up with corporate for deceitful tactics.

Took my car to get the exhaust welded back together, all you had to do was weld around and they couldn’t even do that. I had to get it re-welded by another shop because the welds CarX did had so many holes and they missed a spot. If I could give this place zero stars I would. The fumes coming up because of the exhaust leak made me feel sick

I came in the other day for an oil change the manager Brian then proceeded to try and sell me brakes and several fluid services. Little did he know I just had them done at the dealership about 1 month ago. It was my first and last visit to this place. Be care full this man will rip you off!!!!!
