Handle bars broke on my knee scooter. I wasn’t able to come in until almost closing time. The staff still chatted about my issue and worked swiftly and talked with me about options to repair. Twenty minutes later I had a drivable knee scooter. Thank y’all for helping. Made my day exponentially better and more accessible.

Store is amazing. every staff member is very helpful and always available on phone to help with any question. I bought a bike last year and got a great maintenance plan as well which is not usual if you buy from any other trek dealer. It helped a lot for a new rider like me as I had frequent questions and challenges with the bike. Ben in particular helped me a lot to get my bike ready all the way as I prepared for me first century ride this season. I was able to finish that successfully (Trek100) and then I just did another one (Evanston Bike club - Northshore century ride). None of this was possible without great support from George Garner Cyclery. I am very thankful to the staff there for their help and support to enable my passion for riding. The guys on the sales floor at Libertyville were helpful and welcoming. I am older and not very physically active. They never judged me but worked to find me a bike that fit my needs (comfort, sit more upright, mostly neighborhood riding). When it came in, they made sure it and the accessories fit me well. They worked as though they actually wanted to see me enjoy biking. And I think I WILL!

Very disappointed in the level of service. Walked in and he told me to go look online because they had no bikes in stock. As a beginner, I don’t even know what to look for. That’s why I came into the shop. I thought he could’ve at least spend some time giving me some basic information about what to consider when buying a bike. If I wanted to shop online I would’ve never come in in the first place

Walked in to ask about getting a tune up on my bike I purchased here a few years ago. Was putting on my mask as I walked in and as soon as I opened the door the cashier yelled, need a mask on. Very unprofessional, will not return for service or future purchases.

First time trek purchaser I had an issue with my bike that I bought at a diff bike shop. George took care of the whole problem within a week or so. I use to go here as a child and loved it. This past summer I got the biking fever and checked out a few places. This was the place for me. The bike mechanics/sales dont screw you over and give you advice just for the sale. They really want to make sure you are getting what you need.Tony is someone Id recommend as he seems to be one of the most knowledgeable there. Super friendly.I will continue to purchase my equipment and get advice from there.Easy in/Easy out.

The staff at this shop is so incredibly helpful. I was driving down from WI to meet a friend at Lakewood forest preserve for some gravel riding. I realized too late that I left my cycling cleats at home. I pulled into the store at about 9:30, one half hour before opening. Three of the staff approached and asked what problem I was having. I explained the situation and they let me in the store early. I purchased a pair of shoes, SPD cleats and was 15 minutes early for the arranged time I was supposed to meet my friend. I so appreciate the staff approaching me to determine the problem well before opening time. They saved the day and my bike ride.

I had a very good experience at the George Garner Libertyville store. They fixed only what needed fixing and turned my bike around in a very short period of time. They also rewrapped the bar tape at no extra charge. I would take my bike there for repairs again.

I would not buy a bike there. The staff was not knowledgable of their products. I was shopping for a computer (for measuring distance, speed, etc) and the sales person recommend a brand and said he loved it. However he didnt know the measurement features of the computer and didnt know that you hand to buy the computer and the magnet/sensor separately. So why would he tell me it was his favorite but couldnt talk to the specs at all.

I recently brought my bike in after its brakes started squeaking and the staff made every effort to get it serviced as soon as possible. They know bikes and were able to offer in depth knowledge about products when I had questions.

I attended a tune up class here today and it was outstanding. I learned a great deal and Jim, Mike, and Tony did a great job while welcoming customers at the same time. These guys are pros! Ignore the bad reviews because that was different store management. Its a new team and I cant say enough good things about these guys. This is my only bike shop!Jeff B

Amazing! Iam in town on business and notice the awesome trail system and just kept thinking, if only Ihad my bike here!. Well I notice Libertyville Cyclery on the way back from dinner so I pop in and check to see if they rent bikes. Sure enough they do and I got to spend time riding trails to my hearts content vs. sitting around in the boring hotel room. The staff was amazing and had me rolling in no time at all. Pricing for the rental was also very reasonable. Thanks for making my trip great guys! I will be back!

Well, I dont think this place is as horrible as most are saying on here. I agree with the comments about service. The first time I went in, the guy that helped me acting as if he wanted nothing to do with me and like he just wanted to leave. Although he did give me a slight discount on a very expensive seat. But when I found a better cheap for much cheaper, I went back to return the seat I bought and got lectured for 10 minutes on how not getting the seat I had was going to give me prostate cancer. Glad I got my money back. Just go to the cyclery in Round Lake.

The stuff lacks basic knowledge about bikes they are selling, incompetent !! They didnt fit me with the bike the right way. I spoke with 2 different young man, and both didnt know answer to my question. I dont understand why they are not trained to do their job ! Very disappointing !

Its time to update my review. I have been a loyal George Garner Cyclery (specifically, Libertyville) customer for 3 years now. In my previous review, I talked about the care that was taken of my wife during a grief-stricken time where she was thoughtfully guided into the purchase of 4 incredible bikes.So much has happened since then and it is too difficult to quantify the number of positive experiences I have had at George Garner. Colton Chapman is the head mechanic at the Libertyville shop. His mechanical aptitude for working on bikes is only surpassed by his knowledge of bikes and excellent customer service. I will regale you with my most recent experience to give you one of many reasons why this should be your shop of choice.Two of our familys bikes were stolen somewhat recently right out of the garage of our home. One was my hybrid (one of the bikes my wife bought me) and the other was my stepsons mountain bike. It was very distressing, especially if you consider how often we ride and how much we love our bikes. I filed an insurance claim and had to reach out to Colton to get information on all of our purchases with regards to what was stolen and so I could file a complete police report. Colton tirelessly worked to get me all documentation associated with what was lost. Believe me when I tell you that you dont want to have the frustration of obstinacy or red tape when you are trying to get information for submission to the police or insurance.When Colton told George Garner, the owner of the shop, about my plight, he handled my case personally and worked with me financially in a VERY generous way to allow me to purchase a new bike so I could continue riding. There was an incredible amount of understanding and compassion.Please note that I am a small business owner so I do not EVER expect something for nothing and I NEVER try to hassle business owners to compensate me for difficulties I have in my life. The selflessness of George and Colton, in this situation, expemplifies why you it is important to patronize your local bike shop.I give George Garner Libertyville Cyclery 5 Stars and would recommend it to anyone who rides a bicycle or wishes to do so.
