We have been here numerous times over the past two years. Amazing service every time. Staff is professional and friendly. The food, from breakfast to soup to fish, is always superb. Highly recommend for breakfast lunch or dinner. Only complaint would be that they had great chicken wings that they recently changed to breaded wings that are not nearly as good.
Not a huge fan of diners anymore, especially during the pandemic, but this was well rated on Google Maps.All of the employees were wearing masks and they were strategically sitting customers far apart enough to comply with social distancing recommendations. The food (corned beef hash and eggs, with a side of buttermilk pancakes) was simple and plentiful. The coffee was a bit weaker than I prefer, but it wasnt bad.Customer service was very good and it was nice to see how well known they are in the community. Nearly every other patron was a happy local resident or business person.
I really enjoyed the food. I ordered pot stickers, grilled chicken, mozzarella and pepper sandwich with fries. Everything tested so good, possibly better than other diners I have visited. The service was good. The atmosphere is a little dark, next time Id sit closer to a window.. I will be back here.
South Bay Diner! What a great spot to jump into for anything from a cup of delicious soup to their awesome burgers and beyond. Friendly staff, welcoming and food arrives hot and quickly. You wont be disappointed!

I dont live anywhere near this place was visiting a friend but was one of the highlights of our trip. Cant wait to visit her and come back here again.
This diner like all diners are trying to make a comeback from covid restrictions. Before that on a Sunday morning you would have to wait to be seated because of the great food and service. Still great but again like all food service businesses the prices have increased. I can only say if you are employed and not on a fixed income go and enjoy often.
Seated right away. Friendly staff, very good service. We were a party of four & all enjoyed their meals. I haven been ther in a while, & one thing I noticed is their menu doesnt offer as much as it used to. Would definitely go back.

I’ve been coming here for years and honestly believe this to be one of the better diners on Long Island, the food is great, the restaurant is clean, my issue lies with one specific employee. One of the hostesses, an older woman has now turned me away claiming “we’re closing early tonight” meanwhile there are tables still seated and i’ve arrived 45 minutes before their “closing time” her customer service skills are less than subpar, having an attitude while shooing me away. On a separate occasion she rushed my party to “finish up” and hurry up and pay meanwhile the restaurant was still technically open. I won’t be returning until something is done with this employee it’s honestly a shame because I do enjoy this diner very much.
I have been going here for years and they never let me down. The wait staff was pleasant and inviting, we were seated fast and out server was awesome. We went in for breakfast but wanted to try the B-52 wings which were perfect in texture and flavor, and mozzarella sticks. The coffee hit the spot as well, thanks for staying consistent throughout the years.
Staff are always attentive and courteous. The food and decor are an added bonus.
This was a very pleasant experience for my dinner meal. I had the Gyro platter which was huge and delicious. The meat was well cooked and as I said very filling. The dessert, which I selected was the lemon meringue and was out of this world. It was light and so sweet, it definitely hit the craving spot for me.
Associates were nice, friendly and accommodating. There was no wait on June 5 at 4:30pm. The place was not overly crowded and parties were seated in a social distancing fashion. The food was good and a nice portion.

Hello there my friends and followers. I finally am getting the time to write this looking overdue review of this wonderful diner called South Bay.This was our second visit to South Bay. While eating, I realized that I never have then a review from my first visit, so note here its my review from the second, such just solidifies my first visit.Raul took care of us. He was fast to take or order and to get everything out on a timely fashion without any overlap.We ordered the baked clams (6) stuffed in a foil shell... these clams are so delicious, most and tasty!! It is such a generous portion as well. We then had the coconut shrimp with a mango chutney. These shrimp were very large and crisp.... delicious.For dinner, my daughter ordered the jack Daniels burger which was oversized with fries!!! She enjoyed it big time. My order....OMG.....While going to our seat, I immediately saw a patron at a booth with a beautiful plate of meat....3 chops that were grilled to perfection, they looked amazing.....so..... that is what I ordered.The chop dish was on the specials menu, includes soup or salad, main dish, coffee and dessert for $24.95. What a deal! I ordered the lamb chops (3) each the size of my fist... like miniature porterhouse steaks!! They came out on a plate so hot and juicy with asparagus and mint jelly. These chops were just outstanding. They were tender, cooked perfect and full of that lamb flavor!For dessert, I took the rice pudding home!South Bay Diner is really an amazing diner. The decor is comfortable, the staff who greet you, take care of you and work the register are all just amazing with smiles all the time. This place always has a good crowd which is a testament to there array of quality food.Check out my pics!

The last couple of times my family has went to Southbank dinner the food has been not so good ! We went back tonight giving it one last chance and once again the food was medioca and we waited an hour and a half for our food!!! so terrible wont be going back there ever again!!!

Fairly close to home. Dessert display is very appealing when you first walk in. My waiter was very attentive. The food was tasty and the portions were huge. This is my go to diner now....I cant wait to try the lunch menu.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Run away.They put maple syrup on everything. It’s gross. Everything is sweet. The butter is whipped and maple syrup is added. The sausage had maple syrup. The bacon had maple syrup drizzle on it. The French toast (that’s fine but let me add it myself). Just overall gross place that’s masking it’s bad food with maple syrup.

One of the best diner to eat in on Long Island, the Shrimps with crabs meat is so very well prepared, and the crabs meat is very tasty but most importantly the shrimp arent over cooked. Love love having dinner there on the weekend.

Always enjoy going to south bay dinner the stuff filet of sole is outstanding Emily our waitress is very personable we go there when Emily is working shes an excellent waitress the coffee is outstanding the chicken and noodle soup is like homemade and the Greek salad is to die for.

Well worth the trip!! Although technically a diner, it sure taste like real food. VisitedSeveral times and plan this to be our new diner. Yes we have a couple local ones, but they have gone downhill. Not Southbay... delicious as always.
I have been coming here for the past 4 years. Todays service truly stood out from past visits. The server, Ben, was amazing, friendly and quick. Even offered a suggestion to modify an omelette to my preference which turned out to be a little less cost than the original omelette I was going to order.Ben made my visit all the more enjoyable this time around, thank you.

The breakfast is great and the burger platters are even greater.....i never left here at the South Bay Diner hungry....the portions are generous...the service is awesome,always a smile!!!!and the prices are average to compare to others....the Lumberjack breakfast will do you in the morning and for lunch or dinner a Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe can satisfy any appetite....Highly Recommended!!!!!!

Worst place ever. Super expensive. Poorly managed. Rude owner. Forgot our toast and milk. Catered meal was actually a la carte and totaled 155$ for 6 scrambled eggs breakfasts. I would have been cheaper to go to Brunch with bottomless Mimosas. Completely outrageous.
Excellent food, service, employees, environment etc! Great neighborhood, meeting, conference, etc., diner/restaurant with a fabulous menu! Take out, delivery, curbside service etc., Highly recommend! Try them out and see for yourself!

After a day at the beach, South Bay was a really pleasant experience. It had a nice and cozy setup, our server was helpful, nice and funny. Even the manager came up to our table and greeted us personally - such a nice gesture. And the food looked great and tasted equally as good. We know we are definitely coming back here.

I was with the party of six that ordered the catered half trays of food. They completely ripped us off and then used COVID as the reasoning for the small portions. Atleast be upfront if you will take 155$ for 6 people’s scrambled egg breakfast.
This place has to be the best diner I have ever been to. Pre covid every time I went the staff was always amazing and the food is always delicious. I ordered from Uber post covid and the food was still amazing. I love the fried chicken wrap. My kids get the grilled cheese, chicken fingers and pancakes with maple syrup. If you’re going to get from a diner this is the place to go to.
