We really enjoyed Hug Life, so much. The ice cream is just as good as any full cream ice cream. So much better than I expected. Great service too!

I didnt know this place was vegan until we got there. (Im not even remotely vegan, but I do like vegan food sometimes.) Id been meaning to try it based on the photos Id seen. The ice cream is mostly a combination of coconut and soy. Its extremely sweet. I liked the birthday cake, but the cookie butter was even better, with a nice ginger bite to it. I got those two flavors on top of a delicious, extremely sweet brownie (vegan baked goods are bomb) and topped all of it with whipped cream and cookie crumbles and chocolate drizzle. I can normally eat four extra large scoops of ice cream in a sitting. I ate a little more than half of this before I had to put the rest in the freezer. Even though the scoops are small, the ice cream and brownie are very filling. Its runs $7.50 for the brownie, 2 scoops and 2 toppings. The young woman working there the night we went was very pleasant and gave us extra toppings. Unlike most little food shops these days, Hug Life lets you tip on your card, which is great since I never have cash on me and feel terrible if I cant tip. I wish I could find the nutrition info for their food since Im tracking macros and such. I was told it was on the website, but I dont see it there. Corporate should add the nutrition info or, if its already there, make it more accessible. The shop is small and can only fit about 4 people inside with physical distancing, so theres a line outside. But it goes quickly. Take out only. Parking is street only.

Some of the best ice cream Ive ever had! Their flavors are so unique and delicious. Tried the honey dew and taro, both were amazing. The texture is so great, too.I love how theyre explicitly ANTI-dairy, because dairy is the worst! So cruel to mother and baby cows, and terrible for the environment. Anyway, love this place, excited to try a shake in the future. 😋

Hug Life is a low key spot. If not for the lights being on one night (and the lines), its tough to spot. Im glad about the visit, and good customer service. Sheila put together a tasty Snickerz Bar smoothie type drink. The store only allows one ordering person/group in at a time. This is a dairy free store though there are products with nuts in them.

This place is fantastic, vegan or not you will not be disappointed!

Hug Life! What can I say about this place? Its Bomb! Been there 4x thus far and have sampled everything... Yes, they will let you sample & I suggest you do it. There are some unusual flavors.. Earl grey, Taro, Vietnamese Coffee (Soo Yum).Really good dairy free ice cream or just desserts in general are hard to find.. That said, Hug Life is the best youll find! Im simple, I like 3 flavors in 1 cup.. It may seem a bit expensive, but the portions are very generous. 1 trip.. eat half/ save the rest for the next day.. FYI, my husband is an ice cream junkie and not Vegan in anyway & he LOVES IT! If your looking for something more decadent... the brownie Sunday, the cookie sandwich..all great. You wont be sorry! Oh Yes, the employees are super nice!!!!On a side note: Do NOT Park in any lot on the block! Theres a scandalous troll of a tow truck driver lurking, he will hook up your car and split within 3 minutes.. But there is plenty of street parking.Hug Life... I highly recommend!!!

I loved the ice cream, but didnt like the guy, Jason Thompson with the tow truck trying to extort people out of $150 to disconnect there car from his truck for parking in a lot, after hours, with no signs posted indicating no parking. This is the 7th time ive seen him creep down the alley, lights off at night. Taking peoples cars/trucks, illegally.

Enjoyed the Thai tea ice cream a while back. All non-dairy options. They have a gluten free cone too.

More than just vegan ice cream, (flourless brownie, shakes, cone bowls). Toppings werent that varied, but there is a food shortage. Im psyched for their gluten free cones, but also bummed that only one option of vegan ice cream is soy free (chocolate). Great local vegan option that I usually feel a little less guilty about consuming 😅.

This place is awesome. Its a must try. Recently tried it for the first time, had the brown sugar boba shake w oatmilk after the girl working said it was one of her favorites and WOW. It was so good! One of the best things Ive ever had, so worth it. Service was great and friendly, too. Good protocol during this time as well.

Omg I love the vegan ice cream here! Also Im so glad they have a long Beach branch. Now my ice cream fix doesnt involve an hour drive!!! I love the unique matcha flavor and the Thai tea!! The frosted flakes flavored ice cream is amazing and even the mint chip!! Same with Vietnamese coffee! Actually all flavors are mind blowing!! The brownie a la mode was delicious! Order ANYTHING, theres literally nothing you wont like! The catch is that is super overpriced, but almost all dairy free vegan stuff is, so I kinda expected it.

Very tasty vegan ice cream, much better than what some grocery stores offer, staff is always welcoming and friendly. Flavors are unusual and delicious and they switch up offerings on a regular basis. Yummy product, this shop is very much the embodiment of happy life. Can be a slight line depending on time of day but workers are good at managing the flow and the anti-dairy ice cream is totally worth any wait.

Organic, dairy free ice cream that tastes absolutely amazing. Cups, waffle cones and shakes will definitely blow your mind. They are so many different unique flavors that trying to choose just one is way too hard. So try them all!

Good Vegan ice cream 😋. But at 5.00+ for one small scoop, its rather expensive !!! Salt and Straw and Van Luven, have a smaller vegan selection but more reasonably priced.

Great ice cream shop, nice people, dairy free and all sorts of diet restriction friendly flavors! The banana is always a solid choice. If you are into waffle cones but not such a fan of lactose, Hug Life has your back!

Some delicious options here and very friendly staff! We tried the matcha monster and Vietnamese coffee. The latter seemed just slightly icy, but the former was great, especially with the chocolate in it!

This is a mom and pop shop, with not parking on-site. The ice cream was good and they have some unique flavors. They make the ice cream with almond milk, so no dairy is used. This place is all about veganism, which Im not into: they had flyers for a vegan/meat is murder-type rally and some kind of vegan convention. They also sell vegan beef jerky and other you cant tell the difference gimmicks. Overall, the ice cream and service were solid, but I dont want to be preached to when I go to get ice cream.

Awesome desserts, friendly place. Sometimes (especially in the Summer) can take 5-15 minutes because of lines. Go with an appetite, order the Hug-A-Bowl, and get three different flavors: its worth it!

It does not matter if you’re vegan or lactose intolerant or will eat anything that closely resembles food, you will like the ice cream at Hug Life!! It is so rich and creamy, nearly unparalleled for non-dairy ice cream, and great flavors like honey dew (I don’t even like honey dew but that ice cream!!), Thai iced tea, matcha and mint, etc. Super creative and yummy.Plus they have everything labeled if it’s gluten free, soy free, or nut free. I only wish they had some refined sugar free options..... but then I’d be there every day :DDefinitely check them out!

Cant have lactose, this place is amazing and doesnt go with basic/boring flavors which is great (and smart, I can get basic soy at Ralphs). Love their Reeses pieces flavor and my bf loved the mango tanjin one.

The ice cream is okay. The prices are terrible. They have some really good sounding flavors but once you taste them you may be a bit disappointed. The flavors are very light and way to sweet, I want to taste the flavor of the ice cream I ordered and not all the sugar. I orded matcha, mint chip and cookies and cream. The match could have a lot more matcha flavor, you dont get that earthy essence like when you drink a cup of tea. The mint chip almost taste like an andie candy but I think could have a little more mint flavor. The cookies and cream flavor needs REAL vanilla and it needs to be strong enough to cover more of the coconut flavor. I dont think I will go back simply because I can make non dairy ice cream for half the price.
