This place is truly a historic gem! They have so many options in terms of musical instruments and levels of experience. I bought, for the first time, instruments easy to use- cowbell and drum sticks for some low key drumming. Just walking around is exciting and staff was super helpful. Check it out!

As Im moving away from being an Acoustic Guitar Player (I Have two Taylors!, but NO Electric Guitars?!) to Finding myself feeling embarrassed constantly borrowing my Dad, Brothers and/or numerous Guitar Buddies Nice Electric Guitars way too often, Not really liking the idea of Going to my local Guitar Center, or Sam Ash Music, I went on a friends Suggestion to check out DTLAs (International House of Music) having a budget of $2,100 -$2,499 hoping to buy a decently good Hard Rock Style Electric Guitar, I really been liking (having Borrowed my Familys & Friends Charvel/Jacksons, ESP/LTDs, Schecters & Kramer Guitars!) and beyond that,I went interested in also purchasing a fairly Decent/Good Amplifier and Multiple Effects Unit, liking the Boss Katana series Amplifiers and Boss GT1000CORE effects unit. Well I got there, and it seemed like the so called salesman not only didnt give me any options or variety other than a couple old fashioned Fender Guitars that were Priced Insanely High, like full RETAIL Price! Same with EVERYTHING ELSE I was Considering Buying that Day at International House of Music, was RIDICULOUSLY HIGH Full RETAIL Prices?? They 100% Payasos! Not realizing I get the Sweetwater Catalogs, and go to GC and Sam Ash on occasion, and I absolutely know what things Cost generally in music instrument retail, also the Guitar and Amplifier Effects Salesman Guy couldnt adequately Answer any of my Questions about since theyre a FMIC Dealer, could I Order a Charvel? or Jackson Guitar?, (I dont know??) since Charvel & Jackson Brands are owned by Fender, and he didnt seem to answer any of my additional Questions about the Boss Katana Amplifiers( seeing only the 1X12 Version in store, kinda interested, could I get the Boss 2X12 Katana Amplifier?) & or couple technical questions about the new GT1000Core MuliEffects I was interested in 👎🤔

I came to buy something for mi Niece, I ask for something. And the man who assist me recommend a different Item, I take is word and buy it, but didnt work to my Niece. I tried to return it, and they told me cant be return. What should I do? Thrash it myself because she will not use?? The staff is great, but I expect it to be better. I came here with my nephew for credit because of their in-house-credit. He was approved and got what he wanted. However, why we went there in the first place was due to a recommendation.We were highly recommended and ask to speak with Oscar Jr or Senior based on the recommendation. Instead, we were assisted by Daniel. We did not receive ANY discounts (not even with accessories-10% discount) based on the recommendations! What was the purpose of the recommendation? If that was the case, we should have gone to Sam Ash or Guitar Center.I thought Mom & Pop stores would do better than corporations. Well, I was wrong, at least with the International House of Music.Overall, the music store great but not so great with recommendations.

First visit to IHOMI yesterday. Great selection, prices, and service.

It was the customer service for me .. it was awful.when I was ready to check out no one asked me if I was ready I had to look for some one to help me even when I was ready to pay and standing in front of all the cashiers . I was completely ignored . To make maters worst they kept pressuring me to take a 5 string bass in a color I was just not feeling . . Sam ash in Hollywood was were I was looked out for just fine . I dropped almost 2gs on the perfect bass they had . They have a large variety of guitars and bass guitars . In other words Sam ash helps you out and makes the experience great .

Pretty cool audio equipment shop from instruments to studio setups. Saw some nice audiophile brands.

I have come here on and off for years....NOT HATING, just being honest. Yes, there is a decent selection of musical instruments. The staff act like they are doing you a favor and seem annoyed all the time. As God as my witness, the guitars/basses are OVERPRICED. The same guitars have been on the walls for years. I try to be polite and reason with them. They will NOT budge on the prices. How they have stayed in business for so long is beyond me. Their overhead must be absolutely brutal and with the thugs and homeless out front, my God, I do not envy the staff or the owners. I wish them the best.

Only bad thing is parking, but I knew that going in. Great selection, great help and got my daughters violin fixed and tuned.

Went here a few months ago in search of a new accordion. Ended up looking at a Hohner Compadre, after a few minutes of demonstration one of the workers (Eduardo) really tried to push me into buying it, a bit suspicious like. I liked the accordion and about 10 minutes from trying it out I had purchased it. I made a mistake of not looking at it from all angles because hours after I had left the store I had found many dings and scuffs on the bottom and side by the air valve. After a while of playing it as well I had realized the reeds inside the accordion were out of tune. I live 7 hours away from this store so this was all very inconvenient for me. I called the store a week later to see what they could do for me, I spoke with Eduardo, he denied knowing anything about the scuffs and said there wasnt much he could do, but talk to the manager. They did offer to fix the reeds and tune them however, they wanted me to send it to them from my own pocket. This store will only treat you like royalty if you are famous and give them publicity online. I will not be returning.

Carrie is an amazing piano teacher and mentor for anyone seeking greater achievement and enjoyment in piano studies. She is highly experienced and very professional which you can see in her lessons and in the results she has created in Alexa. Patience is a virtue, but it is a must in a piano teacher, especially for a beginner like my daughter Alejandra. My daughter was easily frustrated and discourage, but Jessica inspire her.

Theres a very good selection at this Latino-friendly music store. Its a large store with a sizable stock on the floor for getting your hands on. Its clean and well-lit, even if its in a bit of a run-down block of Broadway. This place has everything youd expect from a music store: acoustic and electric guitars, mariachi and classical guitars, keyboards, drums, electric pianos and PA set-ups, amps, DJ equipment... Downstairs is a treat with a vast selection of traditional and ethnic percussion. You also probably wont find more accordion options anywhere else in the city. This place has like 40 to choose from

The worse place to shop. Extremely overpriced. La Gente compran porque hablan español pero Les cobran lo triple. If they do not have an item or have never heard of it, they will tell you to your face that it doesnt exist. Like others have said, look for a Sam Ash, guitar center or online.

Used to visit this shop back in the day, and Im glad its still going strong! I was in today and saw two instruments of interest. I plan to purchase one of them in the not too distant future from there.

I usually LOVE Music Equipment stores but this stores employees act as if it doesnt need customers or as if you are annoyingI usually spend a LOT of money on all types of equipment. I had such a poor experience that I may never return. I will purchase my next drum set and new synthesizer on line!

I dont know what is wrong with this guys. I took my instrument to repair and they were not able to get the job done.I wanted to do it myself but they dont sell the parts either. So frustrating..!

I checked an online product but decided to walk in and purchase the product but the clerk noted me the products price went up. I was a little unsatisfied. I shouldve ordered online. Wish all their merchandise was available online since a few things are missing.

It is a good place to go if you are a musician. They have things that a musician might need, but it feels like the staff lack musicianship skills. If one is a musician, it will be fun in there regardless. You are allowed to use the instruments in there.

Great selection of new releases and used records alike. The digital listening station was pretty complete, but there were a few releases I wasnt able to find in the database. I just wish I had more time! Parking can be a nightmare, so arrive early!

They will deal on the- list price. Just bought a bass there. See Angel if he is still working there as of October 2014. Very over looked place with a fantastic location. Perhaps one of the best kept secrets for Anglo musicians in the City. I live in DTLA.

Extremely poor customer service. Called to see if they had an item available at their store and the lady on the phone put me on hold for 5 minutes saying she was gonna check but never did. Defitely not worth my time and money even if they do sell the product I wanted. hire someone who is aware of what they sell cause clearly she sounded lost.
