So, I think my experience is extremely limited due to COVID, and based on other reviews my experience may not be standard. But, if going during COVID, read onThey were only serving MyMo single serving mochi. I certainly understand that as a response to COVID, but if I had known that, I personally wouldnt have gone. I was really looking forward to more authentic it homemade mochi and more options, but if just wasnt there. I can get the same exact thing, the MyMo mochi, at my local Kroger in nowhere Texas. The mochi was fine, and if you dont have any options then sure, but kind of meh and disappointed after seeing all the amazing photos from pre-COVID.

Mochi Ice Cream store was jammed packed with at least 30 people waiting to get their hands on the most amazing Japanese ice cream! To get here though, had to park (Staples) about 1/4 mile away with only one (1) hour parking. Purchased a snickers bar for $1.03 and got validation for free lol...Excellent Ice cream, worth the walk.

Fresh and tasty mochi! The green tea flavor is always my favorite! You can buy cheaper box of this brand in local Trader Joes or Costco but they are limited in flavors and not as fresh as in this store. They validate parking ticket here so bring your ticket with you if you park in the public parking structure.

The only good flavor I like was the butter pecan. I expected much more from an actual mochi place but the mochi I had from whole foods was way better. This was a bit more fresh but the flavors werent really there. It was pretty bland. The only delicious one was the butter pecan which was very rich in flavor. Price is really good $1.50 each and the place is small with very few chairs but its worth the experience. Its in a very convenient place so its ok I guess. The only bad thing is parking is bad and pricey so I wouldnt come back just for this place. If Im nearby I would come back for parking is much more expensive than the mochi itself. Only one cashier so line moved a bit slow so maybe more staff would help. The place looks a bit beat up and old but cant beat the price.

The ice cream was amazing. Mochi is chewy and the ice cream itself was the perfect amount of sweetness.I did not like the pumpkin pie mochi because it was too spicey.Coconut pineapple is like the Thriftys ice cream but better. That was my favorite. Chocolate coming in a close second. The chocolate chips add a really nice texture.Mango and green tea were good too.

Great response to COVID. Only letting in a few customers at a time. They only have Mochi, which is in single serving containers ready to-go, packaged snacks like chips, and a small fridge of bottled drinks. The Mochi is a wide range of flavors, some of which I have not seen before. Lot a lot of the places in Little Tokyo, be ready to wait outside for a bit until other customers leave.

We were watching Kid in a Candy Store on the Food Network. They were showing this place in Los Angeles that makes pudding, yogurt and ice cream to order with any flavor you can almost think of. It seemed like a good idea, and it was!!We stopped in on a cold afternoon so the place was not busy. We both ordered our own mixtures in ice cream. She had them made up in about 10 minutes. It was very well worth the wait. It was really good. It was interesting to watch how each item was made and then when they add the liquid nitrogen it is even more interesting. We do plan on going back as it was worth the trip. If it is a nice day, you may have to plan on a wait. I am sure it will be worth it.

The selection they had when I went were a bit bizarre or odd for my tastes, and I tried the Mint Chip and it wasnt what I am accustomed to, so I opted for the Vanilla flavor, which was good... but generally I never order Vanilla at an Ice Cream parlor because its so basic, plain and uninspired. The service here was nice and friendly, as they let you sample flavors too.

Maybe it was just the day we went in (mid afternoon) but the employee at the register was just plain rude. There was a short line (someone ordering, another small group, then us). When it got to us (multiple orders so a friend was going to order first), the woman (late 20s or 30s) rudely told us that we were in the wrong spot for the line. Okay, there was no signs posted and we got behind the group before us. There were tables blocking the area for the line too (after we figured where the line actually started). After sitting down at one of the tables, we noticed that the same employee didn’t tell new customers to get in line at the correct spot after they also went behind the people ordering (same thing we did).It is a bit sad to see how the service is now. I came to the store a few years ago and had great service with it being even busier in the past. Not this day I went in though so I don’t think I’ll be stopping here any time soon. I understand some people have bad days but to rudely tell off customers just because they stood at the wrong spot for the line, is not the greatest service.

THEY DONT SELL MOCHI ANYMORE.I do not write many 1-star reviews but here is my next one. This place is one of two places in the downtown LA area that sells fresh authentic Japanese mochi and they decided to stop making/distributing it now after the owners changed. They are known throughout the Asian community to be the mochi store. Now they will only be selling things that benefit the tourists and not the local Asian community. None of the locals go here for their ice cream. My grandparents stop by here and get a mochi every once in a while along with their friends. They are all over 85 years old. Now they have to walk another block over from their elderly apartment which is located further but also harder to get to.Such a disgraceful (and financially backed) move on their part ...
