Excellent service. Took a set of wheels and tires over to them after another shop in town failed to balance them properly. McWhorter not only fixed the issue, the brought me out in the shop to show and explain what had gone wrong. Theyre honest and have good prices. Ill be a life-long customer.

Took a truck here to get aligned and a few days later took a car to get aligned. I felt they knew what was going on with both vehicles and explained to me what I needed to know!

2/19/19I called yesterday to the downtown location, they thought they might be able to do a front end alignment and an oil change by end of day. Discount Tire did hang on to my truck about an hour longer than I thought they would. By the time I got to the downtown location, another vehicle showed up so that pushed me back. I was told ..If I got my truck there by 7:30am that my truck should be ready by lunch.This morning I was still told I should have my truck back by lunch. 2014 Ford F-150. Front end alignment and oil change. I called just before 2:30, I figured the truck was ready they just forgot to call me. NOT THE CASE. When I called at 2:30 I was told they needed about another 30 min. It’s just after 4 pm and I’m Just now getting my truck back. I was told the alignment would be $65 and oil change $31.99. I think it was Mike that told me my total was $156. I’m figuring in my head how $65 plus $31 can equal $156. While Mike is ringing me up, he discovers they forgot to “add the price of the oil change”. NOT THE CASE Again, they didn’t DO the oil change.I told him that yesterday And this morning I was quoted $65. He tells me that’s the price if they don’t have to get a cam kit. My bill was double what I was quoted and I was never called and asked if it was ok to continue. My bill was DOUBLE what I was quoted AND they forgot to do the oil change. He asked if I wanted to bring it back tomorrow for an oil change ;-)He did not off $20 like I was supposed to be grateful for that. I’ve been there before for an Inspection. This was my first time using them for any type of service. Unfortunate.

Good place to get the maintenance done. I havent been to other places but I am happy with this so didnt check with others. Got inspection done for 7$ without waiting. For alignment they charged 65$, that day I was in queue but was offered a ride to my office. Nice to get a ride, when your vehicle is dropped for service right. Looking forward to have other services like engine oil change etc.,

Best place to get tires in Lubbock! They guarantee their tires and if u have a flat somewhere else they can come take care if your tire! Great folks and have been around so long they have a great reputation!!!

Honesty and integrity!! Those are the words that come to mind when dealing with McWhorter Tire & Auto. My Tech students vehicle needed work done and McWhorters was recommended to us. I knew what needed to be done to the vehicle since we had it diagnosed when she was home, but time didn’t allow us to get it done over Christmas break. I called and spoke with Mike, and just talking with him on the phone, he immediately made me feel like I’d chosen the right place. He was beyond nice, very informative and helpful! When my daughter dropped off her truck, they were able to quickly give her a ride back to campus. The estimate was in line with what our usual mechanic back at home would have charged for the job and the final bill was just as expected. Before doing the work, Mike even called to ask some additional questions regarding the “symptoms” just to be sure the job really needed to be done. He commented that they just didn’t want to charge us to do a job that may not be necessary–which really impressed me. When the truck was ready, my daughter was going to have a friend drop her off. When that friend’s class ran late and my daughter had errands that HAD to be taken care of, we once again called Mike and, thankfully, he was able to send someone to her dorm to pick her up and take her back to the shop. This is customer service at it’s finest and that is something that you just don’t always find anymore. I can’t say enough nice things about our experience with McWhorter Tire & Auto Downtown; if we ever need work done on any vehicle while in Lubbock, McWhorter’s will be doing that work. I wish I could give them 10 stars, they deserve every one of them! Thank you so very much!!!

This place is amazing! I had a flat tire and it was 20 minutes from their closing time. They took me in right away and stayed open late just to fix my tire. It took them 20 minutes and they were done! They didnt even charge me a thing! These guys have excellent service.

I purposely called ahead and asked if they had time to do a motorcycle inspection. A lady answered and tells me that yes it can be done. I get there and a man at the front desk tells me that itll be a few hours and then tells me that theres no women that work here. Then a second man reminds him that theres a lady upstairs who may of told me this. After coming to the conclusion that this is in fact who I spoke to they continued to say that theres no way she would have told me this. Okay I guess Im the asshole for calling ahead.

I just have to give a huge Thank You for this business. My 91 year old dad set out the other day to go play bridge. When he went out to get in his car, he noticed his tire was flat. He called McWhorters to come fix it for him. He thought his day was ruined. However, he got a ride to his bridge game and left his garage door open for the technicians. They came to his retirement apartment complex and fixed his flat. When he got back to his apartment, he went to check on his car. The tire was fixed and everything met his specifications. He became a bit frustrated because he couldnt find a bill. He called them back and asked for a bill so he could pay them for their service and he was told the service was complementary. He was so thankful and his family is grateful. Thanks McWhorters. You have my business from now on.

Went to them because my tires were low and they said that they checked it and that there was nothing wrong with my tires but when I got home I had a flat when I got back out to my car that evening

Brought in my car thinking my battery was bad. Turns out the battery cable was lose. Charged $80. Menu pricing, nothing I can do was the response when I asked for a break. I think they need a new menu! If you have the cash to throw at them, be my guest but as for me - fool me once...

I have been doing business with McWhorters downtown as long as I can remember. Ive worked across the street from them for the last 29 years and they are always so helpful. Last week, I had a flat and didnt know it; since they had repaired this tire, I called them on a Monday morning because we couldnt get one of the lug nuts off ourselves. They didnt question that it was this exact tire, when looking my car up in their system, however it was, it just wasnt noted since my tire was in the trunk when I took it to them the previous time for a repair. Needless to say, Randy was so pleasant on the phone, had a guy come out to my house within 30 minutes of my call. The gentleman not only took off my tire finally, but took it to have it repaired and returned to put it back on my car, all at no cost. Then I went into the store the next day and they had a new lug nut waiting for me, even before I asked since the one stuck on there was damaged. Would not go to this location. Technician ruined our wiring in our steering column. Went in for a simple inspection and was failed because of a steering knuckle issue which i totally agree with. But one of the technicians said the upper column housing was loose and showed me by twisting it more than half way around the column. After leaving i realized the blinkers were shorting out. Come to find out when the technician twisted the upper housing which has the turn signal switch in it, it pulled out some wires and broke some. Now i have to take the car some where to wiring in the column repaired.

We paid $950.00 dollar to get and Alternator place on my car and few other things done ok no problem it need to be done even though I didnt understand why he charged so much for a part on a Alternator because he said they no long make the one for my car but anyway a couple of days ago my Alternator goes out again I go get a battery not the problem mind you it hasent been a year and I have barely put 2,500 to 3,000 miles on the car so I get the car boosted to them on a friday didnt have time to look at it cool when you get a chance is fine with me get a call he will look at it Monday cool with me. Monday come I get a call my car is ready to pick up do to its still under warranty ok I get there to pick up my car and he goes to get the car a now he notices a loud noise takes my car to the back now my belt and belt tensioner need to be replaced which I just feel where messed up by them because ummmm sir you where under my car to replace an alternator you telling me you didnt know or notice that before you called me and told me my car was ready for pick up I call bs on that one because they had to fix what was under warranty at no charge they came up with something to get money anyway they could if he would have said that before calling me to pick up my car I would have believed him but the way he went about it is disgusting ended up paying another $266.66 Mcwhorters Downtown is about ripping ppl off well at least me they where there is no way my Alternator should have went out this soon especially when I dont even put a lot of mile on the car and your warranty no extension stays the same as original date extra slap in the face but no suprise we all no this alternator wont last either Highly dissatisfied customer and God My Heavenly Father is too do better Mcwhorters God wont bless you ripping ppl off

Awsome. Ive used Mcwhorters for years. They do whats best for you, not whats best for them. Multiple times they could have upcharged, but then explained why they didnt need too. Ive used them with multiple cars and multiple times . They will not disappoint.

They stand behind their work, they are honest, they will quote prices BEFORE doing the work, they complete service in a timely and reasonable time frame, and they will recommend services with a true opinion of how necessary the repair is at the time. Recently I referred them for my sister because she had been duped by another company and was leery of returning there to be price gauged. The service was completed by McWhorthers in a timely manner and the cost was VERY reasonable. Ive gone to them for years and have no plans on changing at this time.

McWhorters downtown is a wonderful place with friendly staff. I stopped in a few months ago when I noticed my tire was flat. They fixed it for me at no charge. I have gone in for a few other minor things, since it is so close to my office, if I need to leave my car with them I can walk to work. I stopped at the gas station next door to put air in my tires. After struggling with the stupid machine that ended up being broken, a nice gentleman from McWhorters offered to air up my tires for me. Not everyone would go out of their way to help someone out like that.

Theyll misquote you on prices to get you in the door then jack up the price when your car is in the shop. They installed a part on my car wrong then said they would fix it for free. After I got my car fixed the guy lied and said that he didnt agree to that and charged me over $200. STAY AWAY from this place!

The Frankford location provided terrible service. This facility literally charged me double the cost for a standard wheel alignment and the results were terrible, my car how drives semi straight while the steering wheel constantly tilts to the right ~5-10 degrees and I was told only AFTER the work was completed that it included no warranty. As insult to injury I personally overheard the mechanic who worked on my vehicle tell the employee working the register its bad, really bad as he passed him the keys to my car not knowing I was the owner. I would never take my vehicle to this facility again and would strongly suggest that you seek another facility if you are presently considering this one.
