I just completed my fourth experience with the Zimbrick Body Shop group and my first with the office on Stoughton Road. My insurance company wanted me to take my car elsewhere after a deer accident. I refused because I knew the Zimbrick Body Shop on Fish Hatchery was great. When I went to that body shop they said I would need to use the shop on Stoughton Road because I have a Audi and thats where European models go.Dan Kroninger at the Stoughton Road location worked with my insurance company to help minimize my out of pocket costs. It was worth every penny. I felt this area where the damage was would be difficult to restore. They did a amazing job. I am so excited to have my car back looking so good again.
The body work that was done on my car was quality. However, while my car was in the possession of the body shop (which was over two weeks), it was left unlocked outside and items were stolen out of it. I had to ask specifically if my car was left unlocked, not broken in to, before they told me that detail. When talking with the body shop manager about this, he shared that it is Zimbrick’s policy to lock every vehicle any time an employee walks away from it. Ironically he went on to tell me that they have had other issues of theft and vehicles being unlocked. He said that their wall surrounding the property “should be enough protection” but they lock vehicles as well. However, obviously they don’t. They reimbursed me for the items that were stolen to the best of my memory, and thankfully I didn’t keep anything too valuable in the car. However, my registration and insurance information was in the car with my home address on it. This has left me with a very uneasy feeling. Zimbrick was unwilling to compensate me beyond what was tangibly lost, so my only option is to write a review about my experience. I went to Zimbrick body shop because they were supposed to be the best with VWs. The Zimbrick dealership that has serviced my car has been fine, but this body shop was different. I will say the customer service I got from Dan in regards to my repairs was great, but this experience with the theft and how it was handled beyond Dan is why I give this place one star. If you can’t trust that your property is going to be safe, nothing else really matters.
Quick, responsive service from everyone involved. The work they did was impeccably executed. Some other reviews mentioned the repair cost being higher than the estimate, but that happens quite often once the car is taken apart and structural damage is uncovered. They provided a prompt update on the estimates prior to repair and included detailed pics and breakdown of BMW parts, after-market parts, and labor and enabled me to make an informed decision about my repairs.
They have provided me excellent service on my BMW.
Very impressed with this place! Hooty was extremely communicative, transparent, and helpful throughout the process, including coordinating with our car insurance. Highly recommend and if I ever require car repairs or service again, we will definitely be coming here again.
I will talk about the feeling after repairing the car here. The car dealer called me and said that the car can be taken. When I went to get the car, I saw a dead mouse behind the trunk and the smell in the car was particularly stinky. They said to clean my car. They told me to take the car tomorrow.I thought they will clean it well but, When I got the car tomorrow, I saw a lot of bugs on the mat. They did not give me a good explanation. They said that it was not their problem that it was the customers problem. It’s not like the customers going to put the mouse in the trunk. We also found black hand prints inside the car. The rubber sheet is not combined well. I want to tell everyone that this repair shop is really bad.
If you plan to repair your vehicle here, be prepared that the final charge can be 4 times of their initial estimate. And they won’t let you know until they ask you to pick up the vehicle.Besides, if your insurance gives a lower labor rate then Zimbrick and you need to pay for the labor rate difference, make sure you ask for a detailed summary about that amount of money before you pay. Because, they won’t even mention about that in your repair summary. It took me tons of emails to finally figure out how the labor rate difference is calculated. And then tons of emails to explain to them how they overcharged me and finally got them agreed on that. Besides, after all of these troubles, they won’t even give you any apologies.
They are awesome. Great work and great people.Thank you !!!
Amazing customer service!!!
Went in for an estimate for some scratched paint (2 by 8 area on the bottom edge of a door). The estimate was ridiculously over the top and included things like $400 for pre-repair and post-repair scans, a glass-installation kit charge, and almost 18 hours of labor, including for mechanical labor. For paint scratches? Really? The tech also claimed that several adjoining panels would also have to be removed so they could compare and match the paint--on a 2-year-old car. Buyer beware!!!
Some of the worst communication I’ve experienced with any business. Period
Excellent European vehicle service using OEM parts. Manufacturer trained and accredited technicians.
Will see how they do on my Benz. So far so good.
They replaced my good and trunk. Now the windshield washer dont work and they broke the trunk gas spring.
I trusted Zimbrick to repair my dream car after a deer ran into my side mirror. I knew they were charging twice the price of my local body shop, but I wanted a shop that specializes in VWs, I trusted Zimbrick, and insurance was paying for it. When I picked up my repaired vehicle, there was more damage than before the repair. There were multiple dents from where an inept technician had man-handled the car while dissembling and reassembling the door. The manager confirmed the damage. Their excuse? We put the wrong person on the job. I asked, So you used my brand new car to train a new technician? They said, Yes. I was disgusted. Dream car ruined. The previous damage, a broken mirror, could be replaced. But this new damage caused by Zimbrick is permanent. A dented car will never be the same, unless maybe you replace the panels. I did not trust them to fix it, which was their only offer. They had fixed my car enough, I thought. If Im going to pay more money, Im giving it to a shop who deserves it. Besides, I had just spent almost 2 weeks in one of their disgusting loaner cars that smelled like an ashtray and body odor, so I didnt want to go through that again. My insurance company had already paid the $2,700 bill, except for my $500 deductible. So my only leverage was my $500 deductible. I suggested that some sort of adjustment in cost was appropriate, and I did not trust them touch my car again, not only because of poor workmanship, but also because of the unprofessional treatment by management. I was always polite—no swearing, no name-calling. But they treated me like garbage, I supposed because I dont drive a $70,000 BMW, just a modest VW Golf. When I suggested an adjustment to the cost (for my benefit and my insurance company who I felt was cheated by paying for horrible workmanship), I was told that would be insurance fraud. I was also told I could not take my vehicle until I paid *MORE* money. They ruined my car, and they wanted $500 *MORE*. They had already let me take the car while I waited for an appointment with the manager, but now they would not let me leave with the car again unless I paid $500 more. At this time, two additional employees appeared and pretended to be polishing the car parked next to me, blocking my exit, to intimidate me. I stood my ground and refused to pay more. I politely told them I would be late for work after my lunch break if I did not leave then. They did not care. I told them I would have to call my insurance company, the police, and my attorney—they did not care. They sat there while I made those calls, refusing to allow me to leave. My insurance company, the police, and my attorney, all confirmed that I would not be committing insurance fraud if I did not pay my $500 deductible to the body shop, so they lied about that. The police department confirmed that they do not have the right to confiscate my car, but at this point it was a civil matter, so they could not get involved. My attorney pointed out that their small print asserted that my car could be used as a lein against payment, but that does not mean they can confiscate my car. So they were holding my car illegally, but the police could not get involved. Finally, after 1 hour and 45 minutes, the manager said, Look, I offered to waive the $500 deductible, but you were not interested in that. That was another lie. Finally they let me leave with my damaged vehicle that will never be the same. I have never been treated so unprofessionally in my life. And remember, I am a *CUSTOMER* who they are supposed to *SERVE*. They had already made over $2,200 on me, and now they wanted more, all for doing an unprofessional job, insulting me, lying to me, and trying to intimidate me to force payment, while I was never anything other than professional and polite. I will *NEVER* do business with Zimbrick again. Now Im stuck taking my VW to Monroe or Dubuque for service, because I cant trust Zimbrick. I made a mistake, and I will not make that mistake twice. Stay away from Zimbrick—dishonest and rude.
Can never get a hold of the manager Curtis or the body shop director Tony for the past week whatsoever. They must be that busy to the point where they are never by their desks to check emails or voicemails.
They only work on foreign cars
Very good service
Great service
Fast honest service
Ok place
The service has always been efficient, competent, top notch. I am treated respectfully and courteously, like a highly valued customer, which I appreciate as a senior woman. They are always ready and prepared for my arrival, like a doctor whos read the chart before coming into the room. Im sure its not the cheapest place to go, but you expect that when you buy a German car! I always leave Stoughton Road feeling the work and the experience was about as great as it could be!
