I have purchased all my bikes from BB, but the service after the sale is so important. Repairs are thorough and done right. The estimates were right on. The staff is so helpful with any questions I had. Today picked up a bike rack and Andrew brought it out to our vehicle, explained & demonstrated set up. I had brought my bike and he helped show us how to secure it to the rack. Also took a look at a front brake that was acting up. Unbelievable service. Worst bike shop Ive ever seen!My bike was in the shop for a week and they didnt do anything! They said they called me once and I didnt answer. I asked if they couldnt have called me twice and the answer was people at the store are very busy. More over, the girl who works at the store doesnt know anything, price... parts... nothing. Dont waste time going there, believe me, its not worth it.

Very good service and very knowledgeable staff. Lately my bike had started making a weird sound while paddling, brought it to the store for a regular tune up. They started working on it as soon as I arrived and had my bike ready in 15 mins. They said my bike was in excellent shape, switched out my faulty pedals and lubricated the chains all free of charge. Highly recommended.

They do a great job fixing up bikes and have a decently priced section of bike accessories. My chain broke one day and they fixed it but for my right on the spot for free!

I took my bike in for a few maintenance issues during one of their busiest periods yet they managed to flip my bike over the next day and I didnt hafta flip over all of my cash- they even gave it some fine tuning it needed but I didnt hafta ask for. Their staff is professional, patient, and really listens to their customers. Thats why I havent taken my bike anywhere else for over 15 years.

Budget Bicycle has the best bike repair in Madison! Expert “Reverend Crewe” completely revamped my Townie that I’ve loved riding for so many years—He made my comfy old feel like brand sparkling new! Budget even added a water bottle & holder as a free gift! After a little accident on my bike, they even gave my bike a free “tune up”. Budget is now working on my daughter‘a vintage bicycle. Budget is the only repair shop In town that was willing & excited to take on her vintage bike! Kudos to “The Reverend” & Budget Repair for doing the most professional work! A great deal for the money—and such a friendly team!

I only asked for a replacement screw, but when they took my bike in to get the right size, they put in the part as well and then charged me an additional $10 for putting in the screw (labor I didn’t ask for). Probably wouldn’t have been annoyed by it but they also weren’t particularly friendly

Matt was awesome! I rode in this morning to get an idea why my bike wouldnt stay in a gear. Matt immediately put my bike up on a stand to check it out. He determined the rear derailer was beat beyond repair and offered to put one one immediately, even though there were customers streaming in the door. He put that on and then noticed the chain had a bend in a link. Another 5 minutes and he brought my bike out for me to take for a test spin. The bike was great, not even chain chatter! He saved me a lot of time and effort for a great price. I highly recommend Budget Bicycle Center and specifically Matt for service. Top Notch!

I took my bike in for one of my two free tuneups and was fortunate enough to have Christopher The Reverend Crewe as my mechanic. He did an incredibly thorough and meticulous job while simultaneously keeping the final ticket price well below the original estimate. He finished ahead of schedule and took the time to explain to me the how and why of every repair. After a test drive, I mentioned that I preferred my brakes at an unconventional setting and he took additional time to readjust them exactly to my liking. Cant recommend him enough. Definitely the best mechanic Ive worked with at Budget, or any bike store for that matter.

Ive been to BB five times or so for repairs big and small on a number of bikes, and I must say these guys are fantastic. The repair staff are fast, friendly, knowledgeable, and infinitely more convenient than the guys over at Erics Bike Shop on University, who once had me leave my bike in store for several days for some small repair. At Budget, by contrast, Ive had tires replaced, chains replaced, and brakes serviced (given, not all at once) on sight in 20 minutes or less. For the one larger repair I had done, which included a replacement of the cassette and a major re-working of the brakes and shifters on an old mountain bike, the work was done faster than promised and the end result was stellar.

I broke my derailleur and brought it in to Budget for repair. They were able to quickly diagnose the problem, and I left my bike with them for the weekend to fix. They finished the work ahead of schedule, the cost for labor was remarkably low, and the bike has been flawless ever since. These folks have earned my business!

The people that work here are great and so helpful. I feel that they really want to help people and will do what they can to get your bike in working order while being transparent and honest. They have a decent selection of budget parts that you may need and have been willing to order things if they dont carry it in store.

Easily the best bike shop in Madison--or, frankly, that you could want. Great low pressure new and used bike sales with lots of helpful advice. Excellent advice on parts, and they installed all my parts at no additional charge. They have also been very no-nonsense on repairs and recommend less than I thought I needed in every case--with the bike coming back in excellent shape.

Even with the pandemic going on and I couldnt go in the store, the staff was super helpful and helped me with the whole list of things I needed. They also answered questions I had about the options I had when choosing replacement parts. Very knowledgeable and helpful.

I just wanted to give an atta-boy to Hank for friendly, informed and informative consultations and service work during a couple of interactions over the past several weeks. This includes most recently this past Sunday’s chain, rear cassette and brake pad replacement work. All is running and stopping smoothly again. Service is hit or miss. Some of the guys are very accommodating and helpful. However, beware of one of the techs. Whenever I go in for some simple problem with my bike, he complains that the problem is much worse and says I need to spend much more for the repairs. Most of the other techs are not like that.

You know, I’m the type of cyclist that doesn’t do much maintenance on my bike. Oh sure I oil the chain once in awhile, and fix a flat from time to time, but when it needs repair I take my bike to a guy named Crew at BBC.

I bought a used bike from a friend and took it in for repairs. The mechanics talked through everything that needed to be fixed, showing me all the parts and the reasoning behind it. They also made sure the bike would fit me before putting money into it. During the repair, they found the derailer needed to be replaced. They called and talked to me about it, and gave me the old one and showed me where it was broken. The total price was under what they quoted me for, and I really appreciate the honesty and transparency throughout the entire process. Im confident the tune up and repair was done well, and I learned a lot in the process.I also looked at bikeseats while there. While seats there were a little more expensive than other stores, there is a comfort guarantee policy which I really liked. If you buy a bike a seat and its not as comfortable as youd like, bring it back within 30 days with the receipt and packaging and get a refund or exchange (I dont remember which). Overall, great customer service, knowledgeable staff, and friendly place.
