I had been looking everywhere all day for beef shanks to make my first soup of our cooler season. I had gone to 6 places before I called and Nate was beyond helpful. He was able to pull some beautiful shanks and marrow and get them all ready for me to pick up. I couldn’t believe how perfect the cuts were.definitely doing my future special meat purchases from Knoche’s ! Can’t wait for my Thanksgiving turkey ans Christmas prime rib! 😃

The meat I’ve gotten at Knoche’s is of the highest quality and keeps me coming back. From ground beef to steaks it just doesn’t get better. It is so clean and truly a cut above of any other butcher shops I’ve been to. Plus, the guys behind the counter are fast, friendly, knowledgeable, and always make me laugh. The reason I give them five stars besides what I’ve already written is because I can’t give them six!

The premiere reason to come here is for their amazing deli section. Their meats are purchased by resturants all across madison because they are high quality while still reasonably priced. They also sell some other things one would find at a grocery store, they do not have a very large selection but their pricing is very good. I would not go there in place of a grocery store, but if you have something else to pick up while you are there it is worth the price.

A GREAT beer selection and the butcher helped me puck out the correct cut of meat. Everything was delicious.

I always love coming here. The prices are a little jarring, but honestly its some of the freshest meat you can get. When I can spoil myself, their rib-in chicken breasts and beef make the most excellent broths and soups. I highly recommend them honestly.

I agree with other reviewers who have observed unfriendliness here. Its a great place in the neighborhood but the cashiers I have encountered almost seem angry. The butchers are okay but not helpful. I walked in with my mask on to see a sanitizing station for customers. But the staff were not wearing masks, or sanitizing between customers. I decided not to buy any meat because the butchers were handling meat without masks and one was wearing only 1 glove. And no evidence of effort on their part to make the place feel safe.I want this place to succeed. Im not sure why they struggle with making customers comfortable.

Nice meats but kinda pricy

The quality of the meat is not in question. Its good quality stuff. However, the poor customer service and overall lack of friendliness by staff is enough for me to take my money elsewhere. An hour and a half until close but you wont slice some meat because the slicer is already clean? Say hello to the worker at the entrance and get silence? Its just not worth it. My money will go elsewhere.

Friend told me about Knoches a few years ago and have been coming here ever since. You wont buy meat anywhere else! Worth the drive in; check their site for the specials.

I have no idea why anyone finds this butchers meats to be anything special. The steaks I bought were nothing remarkable and the selection is pitiful. wont bother going here again.

Good quality of meat but poor customer service despite being empty.

We went today for the first time. We are from the Philadelphia area and have been looking for a good butcher. We bought severall items today, and if they are as good as the t-bone steaks we had for dinner, on the grill, they just earned a family of new customers. Thank you for being an actual butcher shop with great quality!

I found my forever butcher. Well, I recently found myself between butchers. Any foodie carnivore will tell you its an uncomfortable position to be in. For years people told me to try Knoches meat so I finally did. In my opinion, the combination of quality and price cant be touched by any butcher in Dane County. After two trips I have purchased and loved their ribeye, filet mignon, hamburger patties and pork loin. And dont forget the deli case. They have accomplished the rare feat of having equally amazing potato salad and coleslaw. Give Knoches a try.

Best meat in townWe drive from the East side of Madison just to buy our meat there

This place has the best meat and meat selection in the area! They also supply all the great burger joints and steakhouses in the area. I cant say that their grocery section is great as the prices are pretty high and theirs not much selection; but thats not the reason you come here. You come here for meat!

Got some cold salads from the deli. Had to use something else the next day as they were spoiled. Meat is a better choice there

I feel like the prices are to high for a small market, plus the lady at the cashier desk have this pad touch that she have to put the price in then charge !! And some people can see your pin that’s kinda strange!! The lady got a thing for Colored people also me and my friend came in there to get some stuff !! And she was look at us every sec!!! Which kinda rude and scary!! Yes my friend is colored and I’m mix ! So why look at like we victims!! It’s ok if you live close but just for some I felt disrespected 🤷🏾‍♀️These are my cons of the market

Excellent and unassuming local butcher and grocery. This is the kind of place you really hope stays afloat in the wake of Whole Foods and Metcalfs. For cuts, I recommend their NY Strips and Filet Mignons. Try the cheese brats! They mainly stick to the basics and dont offer many exotic cuts; go to Conscious Carnvivore if youre looking for Bavettes and Coulottes!
