Came to try a nearby coffee shop because I desperately needed some caffeine to get through the rest of today. The cashier was rude and condescending and really made no attempt to act professional. As someone with a lot of anxiety his attitude made me start questioning if I was doing something wrong somehow to make him act this way. To finish my experience he rolled his eyes at me when I just asked for my receipt, again, not even trying to hide his apparent distaste for me. The coffee was pretty good but I left with more anxiety and ill-feelings than I walked in with. Maybe he’s not always like that, everyone has off days, but it was an uncomfortable experience for me nonetheless.
Excellent!!! Perfectly frothy milk foam atop my flavorful Miel latte. As a former barista, this coffee exceeded my standards! The barista even made latte art in our drinks. :)
Pricing and quality are high, but from conversations with current and former employees the management at times has been “only nice in from of customers” which is not ideal.Convenient location, tasty coffees and baked goods, but might not be serving up hot cups of positive leadership (but hey, it’s coffee)
I love this coffee shop. Not only is it a nice environment to study in with free wifi, but all the drinks Ive tried so far have been really good. You can tell they really put a lot of care into this place and how they prepare their drinks and want people to keep coming back. The staff here are also super friendly and its just a really nice place to get your coffee or go study at for a while.
Well extracted espresso. Know what theyre doing
Ive had a lot of breakfast sandwiches, but the one I had here was by far the best.
Stopped into the shop with my 3 little kids and two friends with their kids. The owner went above and beyond to help us get all our stuff and find a comfortable place to hang out. The latte was incredible and the cinnamon rolls and vegan banana bread were out of this world. It was well worth the hassle of going downtown with kids! Highly highly recommend.
I never really liked coffee, but I stopped in here and had a cup. It was delicious. Great staff. Very welcoming. Stop when you have time! I will be back all the time.
Very friendly staff and great coffee
The best cup of coffee in town! David is a coffee bean aficionado, and it truly shows in each cup. I come every week, I’ve tried every drink on the menu, and I’ve positively LOVED each one. I used to dump sugar in my coffee but he taught me to enjoy the subtle flavors of great coffee beans and espresso. Also, Valentia’s cinnamon buns are out of this world!
Thankfully this space was taken over by new owners. The coffee shop that was here before was a hot mess.Coffee and food is delicious. Employees are fantastic! Environment is welcoming— I could spend all day here doing work.
First and foremost, really good coffee! The staff is amazing, and the owner is friendly as well! The baked goods are shoulders above the competition nearby, not sure if they make their own or get it from a local bakery, but good stuff. The students that come here are actually quiet courteous and humble. This places atmosphere and the price (worth every penny due to the quality of the coffee) seem to attract a crowd that I dont mind sharing space with. Love this place!
All of their baked goods are solid, but I am particularly fond of the breakfast sandwich. Best in town! Their espresso is well roasted and leaves no bitter tastes.
Coffee was good but disappointed to arrive to no dine in seating as google maps noted they were open for dine in :/
Valentia is such a cute coffee shop and its just starting off. Its beautifully decorated and has a great music selection which all add to the wonderful atmosphere. Not to mention that the employees really do care. When I ordered something the woman making it came up to me to offer me alternatives because I asked for no onions and then brought out my (delicious) avocado toast personally right to my table. 10/10 recommend.
I love this coffee shop! I have come here almost every day since class started so you could say Im a regular. The coffee is flavorful and prices are on par with the rest of the coffee shops on campus. My favorite thing to do is order for here and you get your drink in these amazing huge coffee mugs!!
Amazing coffee and amazing staff! They remade an order I ordered incorrectly (pre coffee brain). Incredible! Will be a customer for life. Thanks Valentia!
Coffee is great! People are wonderful. Happy to see a family owned shop in a chain-filled area
Cute space, friendly staff . Best Coffee in Madison. They prepare their mochas with real chocolate, not junk from a syrup bottle. Their cinnamon rolls are amazing and they have great breakfast sandwiches.
Good coffee, nice atmosphere, but not somewhere to go if your phone or laptop batteries are dying because the outlets are few. Also, no discount on refills (or at least that was offered when I ordered a second cup in the same cup I got my original dark roast in). Definitely a better cup of coffee than the standard Starbucks.
My barista Alec made the most WONDERFUL smoothie. It was an experience worth writing about! Will certainly return to starbuck coffee!
Super sunny space, STRONG solid cold brew, good sandwiches, and indulgent cinnamon buns (when they have them--go early, they tend to run out). Love that everything on the menu has a homemade feel, but the problem with that is consistency--the size of the ciabatta rolls for the sandwiches or the cookies is allll over the place (some days gigantic, some days small, some days well done, some days light) and sometimes the normally amazing cold brew tastes burnt like they poured regular coffee over ice. They always seem to be training new people, so just speak up if something isnt how it was the day before--the staff is kind and always willing to fix it!
Great atmosphere, high quality coffee, delicious food, reasonable prices, and amazing staff. I would recommend this place over any Starbucks or Caribou any day! My FAVORITE coffee shop.
I have come for lunch a few times, since it is right near my school. The food is delicious but the 10-15min wait for said food is not. I only get an hour for lunch and to spend a quarter of that time waiting in line for my food is just unacceptable.Get more staff for lunch!!!
Way too expensive. Coffee is fine, nothing special, but the price tag is hugely high. A good 50% higher than anywhere else for espresso drinks (a latte that is $4.35 at Starbucks is about $5.50 here) Not only is this spot expensive and pretentious, but slow as heck. I just had to leave after waiting 10 minutes with zero people in front of me and didnt even get my order taken. This is a place that doesnt care about customer service, despite demanding a high cost. Avoid if you can!
The slowest place to get a coffee in Madison. Turnover is ridiculous so youre almost guaranteed to get a burned coffee from a newbie. Obnoxious staff, especially the manager. The coffee is mediocre and the tip selection on the iPad is automatically too high. There isnt any soy offered so you have to ask and then they pour it for you because, we gotta be greedy with something, even if youre lactose intolerant. They do have excellent cinnamon rolls and an excellent location, leaving them as the only option when youre in the area and in a pinch.
Great coffee. Fun atmosphere. Complete cluster so dont go if you are in a hurry.
Great Traditional espresso drinks, and they move through line quickly, even during rushes. Online ordering helps too
The coffee speaks for itself. Baristas make genuine conversation: often about the subtler flavors in each brew, which I wouldnt otherwise be able to explore. The atmosphere is the most relaxing, beautiful of the indoor section of any cafe in Madison.
Really good coffee. The atmosphere is a little loud, I wouldnt call it a quite cozy coffee shop, but what really sets this place apart is the quality of their products. Its very clear that they put a lot of effort and heart into their drinks and food.
I would be in here every day if they offered any brewed decaf options at all (I just dont care for the taste of americano). I think the coffee is higher quality than the chain cafes nearby, its just too bad I cant drink it.
Valentia is a cute coffee shop located at a very convenient place in the middle of campus. Its the perfect place to go for a flat white!
Great cup of coffee! High quality single origin pour overs.
Went to Valentia today and had an amazing experience with a young barista with curly brown hair and a hip nose piercing! She was very informative, patient, and efficient despite how busy it was. I will definitely be coming back to get the lovely matcha latte she prepared for me.
This place has made it into my weekend routine. The coffee itself is great--freshly roasted, deep flavor without being burnt to a crisp--and the atmosphere is bright and welcoming.Aside from that, they clearly care about doing things *right*...not just doing things. Like the chai--they could just pull out boxed concentrates in order to have it on the menu, but they put in the effort and recipe development to make the chai in house. And the iced coffee--they throw a shot of espresso in there for you, so as the ice melts youre not left sipping on a watered-down cup of coffee.
The barista really knows how to make a first class cappuccino. Crowded with individual students monopolizing a table studying or texting. Go to the library! They need to set a reasonable time limit on the tables.
Great Pourovers and espresso. Knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices
I often hated hot coffees from the fast-coffee shops, but Valentia made the most delicious hot lattes for me! I can tell that the baristas really made the coffees to serve the customers, and not just for the sake of making them. I just hope they will add white chocolate in their flavor list, so I can get my white choc mocha! They can get a lil bit crowded during rush hours, but I usually managed to get a seat whenever I came around :)
Ciabatta Is made in house for their breakfast Sammies. Cinnamon Rolls are BOMB and The coffee is the best on Campus
Very good coffee, but so slow! I’d be in more often if it was faster.
Great family owned business with awesome coffee and food!
Valentia is the much-needed update to the former coffeeshop. The menu is simple while still offering a number of options to choose from. Its hard to go wrong with the drinks or food.
Cute little coffee shop with non dairy alternatives. Stopped in while it was busy and the service was still friendly and prompt.
Locally sourced, craft coffee, with intrinsic kindness as their mission. Highly recommend!
Wonderful pourovers, Bakery is great and the breakfast sandwiches are soo filling!
Super good tea! Also had a great, friendly vibe!
Great lattes, cinnamon rolls, and pourovers. I had the ethiopian guji and it was fantastic!
Handcrafted cinnamon rolls, welcoming atmosphere and AMAZING coffee! My new favorite and go-to in Madison!
A wonderful coffee shop with AMAZING coffee and even more amazing service!
Service was wonderful and in the morning sandwich hit the spot.
Pretty chic and some great tasting coffee!

Mocha Coffee hit the spot!
The BEST cinnamon rolls!
Avocado toast is really good
Overpriced; doesnt taste very good; luke warm; slow service; friendly people though....
Expensive, but good design and food.
