Manager is psycho and likes to get in your face. They dont throw out expired food, and when you accidentally buy the expired food that they DONT throw out, they refuse refunds and scream at you. There are PLENTY of other grocery stores you can use that wont treat you so poorly
Not a fan of shopping somewhere knowing they not only dont properly dispose of expired food, but still sell it to customers. Also yelling and getting in someones face, you could shop at any other market in Madison and not have this issue ever.
Poorly managed over priced
This is our favorite corner store in town! The products are consistently high quality and the space is clean. The owner is very thoughtful and always updating his products based on customer needs. For example, one time he saw me limping on a sprained ankle. The next day he had an ankle brace in stock! Very nice guy. To top it all off, he keeps prices incredibly fair. Highly recommend all around.
Very rude.
Have been stopping by for last minute ingredients and chatting with owner for years. This week I stopped by, complimented his hat and he mine and he shared a poem out of a thick sheaf. As a poet it tickled me. Shop local for little surprises!
Food no good an the women always got attitude
You pay for the convenient location. Its not somewhere youd go for all of your groceries, but when you just need something quick this is your place. The owner is hilarious once you get to know him.
Friendly local store.
I live in this neighborhood and shop here a few times per month. While the building itself is old and unconventional, the location is convenient, the hours are favorable, and the owner/employees are friendly and helpful. Items are slightly over-priced, but thats to be expected for a local non-chain store in a mainly residential area. Overall, I would definitely recommend this store, especially for late night ice cream cravings.
Calling the store run down and ragged would be putting it nicely. It has clearly seen better days. As another reviewer mentioned, there is a ~200% markup on everything in the store ranging from canned vegetables, desserts, and sodas.Other than that, theres not much else to say. It has a few of the same things a gas station convenience store would have (the chip selection could be better), at least has convenient hours in that its open till 11, and a small selection of vegetables. They also sell beer, but theres a liqueur store about 8 feet away thatll do that for cheaper and better selection. If theres somewhere else that you can go, Id recommend doing so. If youre nearby, though, maybe the convenience might be worth the cost for you.
They may be over priced, but in the end Ive had he nicest and sweetest conversations with the owner. Talk to people; it may surprise you what youll learn.... But it would be nice to have the hours on the phone or web site. I work at night so I get there early.
One of the best shops in the neighborhood. you can get almost anything from food items to beverages and bear. All the people working there are friendly and caring. Th working hours are so convenient9-11 at night. highly recommened
I lived down the street from this place for 2 years. Loved the owner and the people who worked here. They always seemed to have what I was looking for (from Tums to Avocados to stamps) and treat everyone who comes in like a friend. Highly recommend.
Tbh there items there are cheaper there then that Festival Foods place, it may not be that big of a store but still a nice place to shop there, the owner a pretty nice guy who been running this store since 2001, btw the owner even sells these cool wooden objects in the back near the cat food (swords, cutting boards, bowels) I highly recommend this place, his cash register has all these old coins from around the world, its like a work of art, I hope this store continues to keep running its business
Neat and tidy little corner shop, but only shop here if youre desperate - a 200% markup on basic food staples is ridiculous. $1.50 for a can of cream of mushroom that can be gotten for $.50 at Woodmans? Come on, guys - charge $.75 or something but 200% is crazy.Other than that, its a nice shop. But I only come here when Im desperate.
Extremely rude!!! If you want common courtesy and people to treat you humanely this is NOT the place!!!
This is my favorite local pit stop!
Every time Ive been in. It has been a pleasant experience. I wish they were open longer hours.
The people there are really nice. go there all time on foot for ice cream sandwich and a sixer.
Its fine if you live in the area and just need to grab one or two things, but their prices arent great.
Dont like the owner. He gives me the creeps. The store it self is okay. Not many selection
Has everything!
