This was a great experience! Tammy was our sales manager and was very communicative and honest about the process. We went through several different companies until we found Midwest Rock Tops. Brian showed up as scheduled to template and the work was very professional. Tammy made us feel like we were important and not just another sale. I highly recommend this company!
Wonderful people! Everyone at Midwest Rock Tops is professional, accommodating and knowledgeable. Their vast array of granite and quartz is second to none!
I signed the contract and put half down June 11th. They said they would reach out when ready to template. Months went by and I reached out and they responded that they thought my order was already done.It is Sept 20th and I am still waiting for a reply to an email about when the remaining backsplash will be installed. I was told they would come last week Friday, I ask what time, and I had no reply and no one came. Two weeks before, after canceling 3 times, they came to install the counters… they started tearing out counters and had to stop midway because they realized they did not have the sink, or any sink! So we went almost a week without half our counters. The man who installed the counters was very nice and he did a wonderful job. The company however is not responsive and does not do anything to make their mistakes right. I am hoping they eventually come and finish the work, they did already cash my checks.Look elsewhere to if you want reliable, prompt service.
Midwest Rock Tops is terrific! If youre looking for a place to get beautiful new countertops, where you feel listened to, and want timely work done, read on...The team members at Midwest Rock Tops made the process of getting 3 new countertops easy. I went to their show room so many times and emailed back and forth with them a lot, that I wanted to give them a great review. I am very pleased with the outcome of my new countertops!Tammy: She was my main contact. She was so easy to work with! Shes the one who quickly responded to my emails, gave me the tour of all the slabs and remnants (many, many, many times...), was patient with me, (as I didnt know what I wanted), and above all, was super nice!Brian: Hes the owner. He answered my questions, along with my husbands questions (one time we FaceTimed Brian since my husband was at work and couldnt get into the showroom). Brian was never too busy for us, and that was so helpful.DJ: He came to our house to measure our counters, template our slabs, and installed the counters. He was very professional and helpful in all aspects of this process.Jade: She was so knowledgeable on just about everything. Sometimes shed help out finding slabs in the back, as they have many remnants to choose from! This morning, 3 of the team came to install. They did a great job and were very professional. Everything went in smoothly and Im super happy to finally have counters again! We ended up getting granite 2 remnants for our bathrooms (my favorite is our Fantasy Brown vanity top- the one pictured with 1 sink). Its so amazing!!!!!For our kitchen, we chose a quartz- Calacatta Ultra, after much, much, much looking at different color white quartz possibilities. Thanks Midwest Rock Tops!
I would not recommend Midwest rock tops. I worked with this company on three projects. With each project they under delivered their services. They showed up late causing me to be behind on my deadlines. There was damage to the countertops they installed which they did not fix. There was damage to the countertops they installed with they did not fix. They said they would offer me a discount which they refused to follow through with. I had to reach out to this company numerous times without any return in communication. Midwest rock tops was unprofessional with poor management and lacked quality services.
Our bathroom counter tops for our funeral home are amazing. We ordered counter tops from someplace else and they came damaged. Midwest Rock Tops were able to get us quartz counter tops in less than 2 days that fit perfectly to the bases for ADA compliance. Thank you for helping us so quickly so we could get our bathrooms working again!!
In July 2020 I started working with Midwest Rock Tops to purchase granite countertops. I purchased a beautiful slab in early August 2020 after working with a great saleswoman. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. On Sept. 5th my counters and sink were taken out, per request of Midwest, by an independent contractor and the week of Sept. 6th 2020 a template was made of what was needed by Midwest. With the slab picked out and the measuring done, and down payment made I was excited to get the new tops. I knew I had to wait due to the backlog at Midwest but that was okay. The week of Oct. 11th was going to be install. The crew came to install on Oct. 12th. The crew was friendly. When they were done it was very obvious that the bar top was cut short. There was a 1 gap on one end and a 2 gap on the other end of the breakfast bar. Nothing was said. I guess they thought I wouldnt notice. I brought it to the project managers attention. I was told that was the way it was when he measured. I had to show him pictures to show it wasnt. Also, the backsplash to go behind the sink was 2 short. Before they permanently put the backsplash in, I brought it to their attention. They were going to leave it short. The PM then asked for the balance payment. I said they would get the balance once the job is done. The PM said they would take the short backsplash back and cut a new piece. I said okay as long as it is from the same slab as the tops. They assured me it would be. Well, what they did is cut a 2 piece and glued to the first piece. They did not tell me this. I found it on my own. Also, I could tell just by looking at it that the breakfast bar was uneven. The PM doubted me until I went and got my level, because they did have one. The PM said at least the stuff would roll into the sink and not on the floor. They fixed it. The installer was feeling uncomfortable because he knew what was happening was wrong but could not say anything. The company was blatantly obvious in trying to convince me I did not know what I was talking about. The company doubted me until I sent pictures. I had to keep defending myself. It was really poorly handled. Thank goodness I know a custom builder who came in and handled some of the issues and had to finish a job that should have been finished with Midwest. It cost me at least an additional $600.00 after final payment to Midwest to get my kitchen presentable. It still is not like it should be.After asking for some compensation, they settled to taking $100.00 off but that was with much consternation. Not once did they take ownership of their errors, apologize or try to rectify the situation. I was always having to prove myself or defend my findings.I understand mistakes are made but the way Midwest handled this was far from professional.
I was looking to have a simple hole drilled into our existing quartz countertops. Midwest Rock Tops was the only company willing to work with me and do this small job. I had called several other places in the Madison area and they all said they were too busy. The customer service when I called was outstanding, and they were able to send someone out to do the work later on that day in between other jobs. The technician who arrived did a great job, cleaned up the countertop dust, and offered to come back any time if the hole needed adjusting later. Thank you so much to Midwest Rock Tops!
Midwest Rock Tops was a fantastic company to work with! Brian and Jade provided insight that the other companies didnt mention. Everyone that we met, before and during the instal, were very polite and their professionalism is unmatched in todays world. Their attention to detail and suggestions surpassed our expectations and were very much appreciated. Our project turned out perfect, and MidWest Rock Tops was a critical part in it.I would not hesitate to use them for our next project and would highly recommend them.Thank you Brian and staff!!Sincerely,Joe & Tami
Do not trust or do business with this company.Total nightmare! They will nickel and dime you every chance they get, and the level of incompetency you get to experience is astounding. They set false expectations about seams in the counters, and bait and switch last minute after you have already paid the non refundable deposit. The owner, tries to breathe down your neck during your layout and tell you how you can or cannot lay out the granite that you are paying for based upon the size and quality of the remnant that it will leave him.The work is shoddy and customer service is atrocious:1.) They left a gap in silicone sealing the sink that I had to touch up.2.) They cut the counter too short for the cabinets and had to replace it.3.) In my home they never wore shoe protectors, or masks.4.)They were late to my home EVERY time and never called to let me know when they would show up. I had to hound them every time about when they would show up. One time they showed up more than 90 minutes late on a Tuesday after the owner failed to tell anyone about the appointment he made with me the previous Friday.5.) Three days before our install date, I call them to confirm the time, and they tell me that they miscut our granite and couldnt use the piece we selected. I was wondering when they had planned to tell us if I hadnt called. So, they pigeon-holed us into a piece of granite last minute and we just took it b/c we wanted to be done working with the overbearing/obnoxious owner.Be weary- The owner is not transparent and will do anything to nickel and dime you. This is your fair warning. Go somewhere else where the parameters are clearer and the workmanship is better. Ask about seams early and get it in writing. Otherwise, you will be tricked last minute.PS - Their response time is Terrible. Lucky if you get an email or call back within 72 business hours.PPS - The owner has ZERO concept of customer service. You can tell by how he replies to his bad reviews here, and you will see for yourself if you talk to him in person. Ask him about laying out your pieces how you want and see what he says. If he tells you yea, layout your cuts however you want, I bet you its before hes got your NON-REFUNDABLE 50% deposit.YOUVE BEEN WARNED.Edit in response to Brians (The owner) comments below:No Brian, you didnt respond to emails or calls within 1 business day. That is factually incorrect. If you want, I cant post screenshots of emails and phone records. I documented everything very thoroughly. And yes, my quote did go down a measly $200 when we removed the backsplashes. When I say nickel and dime I am referring to you saying it would be an extra $1500 to add the 2nd slab back to the original order, which was included when we had backsplashes. How does that add up? Subtract $200 to remove backsplashes which included a second slab, and then charge $1500 to get the 2nd slab added back to the order? Also, hovering over your customers and telling them they cant pick the section of granite they want because it leaves you with a bad remnant is completely obnoxious and something that should be discussed up front so people know to expect and can buy elsewhere if they want. You can say you care deeply for customers on this review board all you want, and maybe you do now, and maybe youve had some happy customers. Maybe thats because they didnt have to deal with you directly, or maybe they had small simple jobs and the people working with them were prompt and professional. Fact is, you and the team I worked with were not prompt or professional. Their ACTIONS did not demonstrate a deep caring for me at all. There were 2-3 people on your install team that exuded customer service, and that made me feel appreciated, but unfortunately I never had that impression working with you directly. I am glad you are working to improve your process to be better in the future. Unfortunately, our bathrooms will be upgrade to granite with another local supplier.
I have bought counter tops from Midwest Rock Tops twice and will be there again shortly as we have begun another project. Their selection is vast and they are patient and accommodating. We have installed other quartz counter tops from several other places but we will be returning to Midwest Rock Tops now that we have had two wonderful experiences working with them. Their prices are reasonable and their workmanship exquisite. Brian is very kind, patient and excellent to deal with.
I had our very large kitchen done in early 2016 and it was perfect! We then replaced the vanity and sink in our bathroom a couple months later and the guys did a great job of installation.Fast forward almost 4 years and my wife drops a coffee cup in the bathroom sink and cracks the porcelain bowl....maybe the coffee wasnt strong enough? Anyway, I called and talked to Scott about getting a replacement bowl. They looked up the original job/records and still had the correct bowl in stock. A few days later they were out and removed the broken bowl and installed the new bowl. The guys were very nice and went right to work. They even cleaned the granite counter top and put a new seal coat. The price was very fair for what they did. Great job guys!
Shopping and searching for a slab can be a daunting process, especially when you are looking for a specific color with a leathered finish. Our first stop was at Midwest Rock Tops. We met with Brian and he showed us some very nice slabs, but since it was our first stop, we felt compelled to shop around and make sure we saw all the things that were available. Well after a few weeks of traveling to a variety of distributors and fabricators, we not only returned to Midwest Rock Tops, but purchased the exact slab that Brian showed us on our first visit. Great price, Very knowledgeable & Great service!
Brian was VERY helpful. We wouldnt have found our granite if it werent for Midwest Rock Tops. Great connections to finding the exact granite we were looking for. Everything looks BEAUTIFUL and we are just thrilled with all of their hard work. Thank you for helping us make our bar and bathroom look awesome. We couldnt have done it without you and the team.
We saw your booth at the Madison Home Show this weekend and what a wonderful display. That remind me I never posted a big Thank You for our counter tops. Sorry it’s taken so long to write and thank you for our wonderful Midwest Rock Tops counter tops. We had them installed about a year ago and love it!The counter still looks as great as the day it was installed it. We were trying to do an economical remodel of our smallish kitchen and our counter top space was a little longer than the standard one-piece granite slab. We really didn’t want a seam and then we stumbled upon Midwest Rock Tops. Brian was able to find a slab long enough which worked perfectly. When he came out to measure our kitchen he suggested used some pieces to make a matching top to a new half wall entering the kitchen and a shelf below the window which we would have never thought about. It looks great and we get lots of compliments!Thank you Brian and all of your employees!
Ive trusted Midwest Rock Tops on two separate projects and cant be more pleased with there service. Brian and his staff will ensure you are 100% satisfied with your stone. Feel free to shop around, but make sure you stop in and see these guys. You wont be disappointed.
I was promised install (in writing) on December 8, 2017. I spoke with Anna on the phone on December 6, 2017 when she called to verify hole placement and it was confirmed that the install was still on schedule. On December 7, 2017 I received a call from Anna that the install wouldn’t be until December 15, 2017. On December 15, I was told they couldn’t make it until December 16, 2017 at 8:30 in the morning. The guys showed up at 10:45 am. When it was installed, there was no overhang, which I paid for. So, again, I had to wait. Meanwhile, the grout line was done in black grout and stood out like a sore thumb. All the while cancelling gatherings that had been planned for months and scheduled contractors multiple times. Finally, on December 23rd the correct size counter was installed. When they were finished, it was at least 2 inches off center. All the silicone had to be cut out to be able to move it into center place. The silicone dripped onto the brand new cabinets, on the new hardwood floor. Also, I was told that it was $74 a square foot and all was included with that price. When I signed on the line, I did not do the math. I always assume good business practice.
From start to finish this process was amazing! We walked into the showroom on December 10th and met Brian and Charlotte. 20 minutes later we had picked out our granite, the edging and the sink for our kitchen. A few days later George and Christian came to measure. Today Christian and a crew of very nice men installed our new countertops. There was one hiccup but was resolved before 5 pm. I’m already thinking about my next project with them!*UPDATE*for the 2nd time in a month we are beyond happy with Midwest Rock Tops! After our kitchen was complete we moved on to the master bath vanity top. Again, the entire process from the showroom to the installation was easy, genuine and professional.
We ordered a granite kitchen counter top, paid a deposit, and 2 months later when we called for them to come and measure our the kitchen for the install, they told us the granite we ordered was one they no longer carried. So I went a picked another granite. Brian told us it would be another 2 months before they could get to our order. I complained that we had contractors lined up based on the fact we ordered a granite many weeks prior to install, and they are the ones who made the error of selling us something they did not have. So they moved our install date up by 1 month - which still had us scrabbling to reschedule our other contractors. Then at the install, the installers did a poor job on the caulking and one of the back splashes was sticking out past the edge of the horizontal counter top by about 1/2 an inch. I had to convince them to fix. Im a fairly reasonable person, but when you order something as expensive as a granite counter-top, get pushed back on your install due to their mistake and then have installers do a poor job, I cannot recommend this company.
We used Midwest Rock Tops about four years ago for our granite countertops. A friend just asked me who we recommend and I realized I never wrote a review. They did a fantastic job and I would recommend Midwest Rock Tops to anyone.
I cannot say enough good things about Midwest Rock Tops. Scott was unbelievably helpful and excellent about communicating with me and answering all of my questions. I made several modifications to our original design over the course of several weeks, and Scott promptly responded to my E-mails with revised plans and quotes following each adjustment. I also asked Scott to move up the timetable for templating and installation on extremely short notice, and he gracefully accommodated my request. The man who showed up for templating was prompt and professional, and the men who showed up for install were equally prompt and professional--two characteristics that are so important to me in any stressful home renovation! My under-mount sink was expertly installed, and my new countertops are flawless. The kitchen is beautiful, and I could not be more happy with the Midwest Rock Tops Work. I highly recommend this company and I would never use anyone else!
On a previous remodel project we used a local granite shop who ultimately delivered the wrong granite slab and sinks; what a mess that was to fix! On our next project, a kitchen remodel, we decided to go with Midwest Rock Tops and what a difference! They have a responsive and knowledgeable staff, a very nice show room of granite samples that are decent-sized samples plus a modest but high quality selection of sinks, faucets, etc. that made our experience one-stop-shop. Even better, we could look at large granite slabs in a comfortable, climate-controlled environment. Brian not only delivered everything on a timely basis, he provided some helpful insights on other parts of our remodel which meant our granite would go in correctly (and not crooked!). We had one minor issue with coloring on a seam and Brian fixed it to our satisfaction immediately. Id highly recommend Midwest Rock Tops. Their prices are better than anyone else, the showroom makes shopping pleasant and easy, and the service is prompt, personal, and customer oriented.
I am bummed I have to take the route of leaving this bad review. We were so excited to work with this company. We had a great first impression with the salesman, Scott. Everything seemed to be on the up and up and we scheduled our installation for the Uba Tuba. All final decisions needed to be made before the measurements were done. We went back 3 days beforehand to finalize which edging we wanted. Brian, the owner, helped us with that. We chose one but didn’t like the line edge it came with. He said it wouldn’t be a problem to have that smoothed over so it would be completely rounded. Ok! Great. We are excited. Installation day comes and they told us they were going to charge us $170 because we didn’t have the old counters removed. That wasn’t clarified in the quote nor in conversation. We thought “removal and disposal” meant remove from the property and disposed of. No. It means remove the counters yourself if you don’t want to be charged. Lesson learned. So counters are installed and both of us go to work. We come home to finally enjoy our new granite and notice that the edging line WAS NOT removed!!! He never made a note about it. Very frustrating. Ok. I send an email to Brian asking what went wrong. No response. I send another email 3 days later stating we just spent $3300 and got the wrong edging and to please respond. No response. Ok I’m really upset. Called and talked to Scott. He said he would make sure Brian gets in touch with me. That was 3 days ago and still no response!!!That is SO unprofessional. We need our basement bar done and there is NO way we will go through them.Be warned. Great customer service until you pay and have a problem. But, Scott was great to work with.
Very impressed with the work and stone! My wife and I couldnt be happier keep up the great work!
Great service and very pleased, the personal experience was great. Will shop her again.
We were replacing our countertops in our kitchen and we decided to use MRT, the ordering process was smooth and we put our deposit in and waited 3 weeks for the templating. The guy came out and measured everything (took a little over an hour) and then went into the shop a few days later to pick out the layout on the slab. When we were all done, we spoke to Anna and she said she would call us the week of the install to get us a time frame. The Monday of the week of install came (install on Thursday) and went. I waited and she emailed me on Tuesday morning asking about the hole placement (3 holes), so I called her as I was driving at the time. While on the phone, I gave her how the I wanted the holes to be, and then verified the time with her for Thursday. She stated that we were first on the list for the day and the guys get in around 8am and they should be to us between 9 and 10am.Thursday came and we prepped the area for the guys. We sat there waiting until after 11am, I called Anna to see where the guys were and she stated now we are in the afternoon, and that it could be 2pm as they were cutting the stone...maybe even 3pm. I asked her why the afternoon when she specifically told me first thing two days ago...no answer for that. I had planned for the morning so I was working in the evening instead. I spoke to Brian to find out why and where the communication breakdown was, no real answer..just they are working on the stone and will be there once it is done. They arrived at 340pm and started to work (I had to reschedule my evening plans now) and when they brought in the sink stone, I noticed 2 holes were cut not 3. I called the office and Anna said no problem, they will cut it on site and it will just take a minute. I asked why the issue when she had just asked me via email 2 days ago about 3 holes. No real answer, the guys looked at the hole and where is was to be put and said it would take about another hour, as the bit gets overheated and no water...he would rather take it back to the shop to do it right. He called the office and they said to it on site. He came back to me and his loom said it all...this is going to be a pain. I told him just forget it...as I was already upset and really didnt want another hour added to the day. They obliged and put it in. The small desk area was cut or measured wrong and when they attempted to install it, they damaged the wall. No one even told me, I had to find it on my own. I talked to Anna again and she stated no problem, they will talk to Brian about it. They finished the install about 520pm and I put in a few hours hooking everything back up.The granite looked great...just not happy with service and communication with MRT. Later as I was cleaning up I noticed that the 2 slabs (either side of the range) were different sizes from wall to edge...by 1/2in. Very noticeable.Called the office again and spoke to Brian and we scheduled a time to come back out and fix it. They came out the following Tuesday and fixed the sizing and drilled the 3rd hole.Overall, the stone is great and very happy with it. I,would not ever recommend Midwest Rock Tops to anyone as their customer service leads you to taking 2 days off of work, sitting around waiting all day, and you have to tell them about their mistakes and they simply dont care. I asked for a discount based on all the errors and communication as we were very inconvenienced by them and they stated no, this is how the trades work.Very unprofessional on their part.#dissatisfied #lousycustomerservice
All I have to say is Great work, Great service, Great times.
