Very pleased with these guys! Chad (dude obviously knows his stuff) walked me through pros and cons of several different rifle/optic options for my kids. I felt very confident that I made the right purchases after he gave me the “nuts and bolts” tutorial. Everyone was helpful and personable. I’ll definitely be a long term customer here.

2 days ago I made a comment that this business was the worst customer support I’ve ever seen, well I want to retract my comments because as soon as i wrote my comments,hunter email me and wanted to know all the details of my visit at his store and after several intensely emails I now know that I made a terrible mistake and was given the wrong info from the beginning,and i now would not shop any where else because of hunter wanting to make things right ! And BELIVE me we email for hours and hunter believing that the customer is always right . Hunter I want to truly apologize to you and ever one at Gun N Gear, I really appreciate everything you did to correct this mistake !

*update* Ordered 200 rounds of ammo from these guys and it never showed up. Been calling 10 times or more to get some kind of answer and keep getting the run around. “The owner will call you” never did. “Here let me call you right back” never did. One star review for a terrible gun shop giving someone in another state a hard time about ammo that will never arrive at this point. Ordered in February off of Wikiarms and now out over $200 because of these dudes. Take your business elsewhere especially if you’re trying to order out of state. I’ve got all the proof that shows I bought it but no email confirming anything ever actually got shipped out.After the struggle of getting the ammo they came back with an actual reason as to why it never sent out. This gun shop made it right and then some. I’ll change the review from the 1 star. Thanks for taking care of it! Ammo finally arrived!

The folks here are knowledgeable and will share the information you need in an objective fashion. They don’t just have an opinion, they tell you why they like what they like. They are able to help you understand new equipment and the options in equipment that are available. Overall, they aren’t just here to “sell” something, they are here to provide!

It started out rough but ended well. Difficult to close bolt on an 8mm Mauser done by an expert gunsmith during a time of major changes in his shop. Communication improved markedly once the gunsmith was able to work again. Did it take longer than expected - yes. does it matter if something is done perfectly and with straight answers - no. Fantastic customer service! Ordered some bulk ammo from these guys online and they shipped it out extremely fast. Several rounds were damaged beyond use when my order arrived, and within an hour of a phone call and an email they had replacements already dropped off at UPS. With ammo demand as high as it is (Feb. 2021) they still were able to personally take care of me and make sure my order was correct and without error. The folks at Guns N Gear will definitely have my business in the future! 10/10

I went in a little over a month ago and spoke with a gentleman about a mag extension for a Glock 43zHe pointed me to a E.M.P +2 enhanced mag plate.After installing it I noticed it would only hold 1 extra round not the 2 that was promised. After carrying it back to them another gentleman looked at it. Took it apart and handed it back to me and said. Shouldn’t have bought this brand. You should have gotten another one. So after selling me a misleading/defective product not offering for an exchange or anything. That’s all I got.SO THEY WILL SELL YOU SOMETHING THEY DONT RECOMMEND AND KNOW ITS A POS!!!Avoid if possible and do your research on your purchases

Great inventory for a new business. If they do not have something in stock they will try and find it for you. The sales people are so much more knowledgeable than what you find behind the counter at most big box stores. This is a great gun store that meets my expectations of what a gun store should. The staff are friendly and know about what they sell. I had a conversation with everyone there in my short visit. The selection of firearms was diverse and the prices were very fair. I was able to handle several of the latest pistol models recently released (G19x, Sig P365, Hudson H9, Sig X5..etc). There are no trigger locks on the guns on display like the big box stores have, so at GunsnGear, you can actually try the trigger and check out the gun completely before you purchase. They also have extra mags available and nice selection of the more popular name brand accessories. If you are in the area, check them out. This is a great place for folks that enjoy guns...and gear.

These people could care less that you want to spend money in their store and act too proud to give you the time of day. There are definitely better options as far as new and used firearms. Prices waaayyy too high for the vast majority of their inventory. Will not return.

My first time going to this store they was very friendly and nice but today it was the complete opposite. I left out the store feeling depressed and destroyed they was very rude!! Stopped by for seemingly cordial visit. As I was leaving police entered parking lot, ended up getting pulled over in Madison city by 4 units, and questioned, and given long sobriety tests. They said store called them on me under suspicion, of course I was sober and let go. Called store to ask what happened and they denied calling. So after throwing me under the bus, now theyre throwing the police under the bus. These arent good people to consider doing business with.3 years later no response. They couldve returned an email or a phone call, explained their logical reason to take police action against me and being they were wrong couldve offered apology and bought me some wings next door or bbq now. Were neighbors and still made no effort to make things right. They cant show a video tape to explain themselves. I still want some justification for putting me through a 50 minute interrogation in a bank parking lot by the police for stopping by their store. The shopkeeper was so scared of me for no reason he pulled his personal concealed weapon out of his pants just to show he had a gun! They traumatized me still to this day! Hunter you still have option to make things right? I can take this down but you have to man up. People notice Im the only review with no response. Too bad but understandable they arent bbb certified then we could get some answers, meanwhile so many other good options out there.I cant hold a grudge against the sheriffs department or Madison police for taking a call. It was the doing of this shop.

Guns-N-Gear has a great group of guys who will go out of their way to help you. I have requested some hard to find parts and accessories and they were able to locate them. They were also able to mount some scopes and replace my factory sights on several pistols with the TruGlo sights they ordered for me.Are they the biggest? No. But I doubt if you will find a group who will try harder to find and order whatever it is you need.Im glad they are local and not some out of town internet sales store. Im glad I have someone I can talk to face-to-face. Im glad they are in Madison and helping support our local economy.

Been seeing them advertising for a while been wanting to check them out went in today just want to get a scope mounted got drilled on where I got it then want my driver license just to mount a scope never go back what are you doing stealing peoples information would not buy a gun and give them all your info

I went in days after the store originally opened and they were polite and awesome! Gave me a free Koozie! I was told the transfer fees were $25. My current location charges $30 and Guns N Gear is in my immediate community, so I thought Id support my LGS and save $5! Eventually, I transferred a used weapon from an online sale to them. When it arrived, I received an email from USPS and was in the area, so I stopped by to grab it. When I told the person why I was there, he seemed irritated and responded with, Well, it mustve just arrived and grabbed a priority box within reach. He told me to wait a minute and proceeded to finish whatever tasks he was doing prior to my arrival. Moments later, another customer arrives that he recognized and he assisted them with their order while reassuring me that hed help me soon. While assisting me with the transfer, he and a coworker constantly made insulting comments about the quality of my purchase since it was a police-used weapon and not a high-end item. Once the transfer was completed, I asked how much I owed them and was told $30. Puzzled, I told them that I remembered being told $25 and the gentleman responded by pointing to a piece of paper on their counter that said Transfers: $30. Then, he informed me that its $25 if you have a Concealed Carry permit. I paid the $30 and left the store without protest. I will never return and will tell my peers within the community that were looking to support a LGS to spend their money elsewhere. I realize that guns sell themselves but its shocking that places would alienate their immediate community members when online competition is destroying brick and mortar locations.Edit on 5/26/2017In response to the business owner: During my visit, there was a piece of paper somewhere by the register near the front door that listed different transfer fees. I clearly remember the gentleman, Hunter, pointing his finger to the paper before irritatedly telling me about the CCW distinction. However, Im sure youre right and it was $35 not the $30 I previously misstated. Im certainly mistaken regarding that detail. I should clarify, this visit was not recent. However, instead of disputing minutia, how about apologizing to a customer from the local community for an unpleasant experience? A reasonable apology wouldve gotten this post deleted. You guys have a shocking lack of customer service awareness.
