Very happy with the custom work done on my gsxr 750s exhaust! I will definitely be returning!
They want to charge $450 for a stator of GZ250 2004. LOL, unbelievable! I took my bike back and they charged $130 for checkup.
Mechanic has got a sour, condescending attitude, and doesnt know how to talk to customers. Not the most patient, respectful, or empathetic mechanic. Not sure Id trust him with my bike.
These guys did a variety of unusual work in addition to a few normal stuff like brake work and an oil change. They were very creative, skilled and sensible about installing a Zumo GPS mount. And they had a mess to fix and clean after mice a bunch of stuff. All with friendliness and professionalism. I am very happy that they are around!
Quality services but customer experience is poor.
These guys are pretty knowledgeable and have a great stock of parts. My first impression was that they tried to kind of show-off their knowledge and at the same time diminish the value of my thoughts, which was inconvenient, but with some planning and practice and careful word choice and assertiveness I was able to speed up the process significantly - its now very fast, efficient, and mutually enjoyable. Some of the reviews here claim the guys are unfriendly and I can definitely imagine why someone might think that at first, but these guys definitely love the sport so are very helpful and friendly once you get down to business.I do get the feeling that Im being subtly persuaded into giving them every possible dollar sometimes, which is annoying considering how much money Ive spent there and that Ive really gone out of my way several times to give them my business and want them to do well. Frankly it gives me a little apprehension whenever I visit, but it gives me the impression its an old habit and they basically do it unknowingly, so its easy to tolerate and forgive. Thats the only thing that stops me from giving 5 stars and being more expressive about my appreciation for these guys and their work.
Ya wj talks loud and is gruff but no matter what anybody puts on here saying he is rude he is not rude he is just damn busy and the reason for being busy is he and everyone that works there knows motorcycles and there good at what they do. I take my 22 year gold wing in there for service and they have always taken good care of it they give a fair price for good solid work. You will always get treated fairly and better yet your cycle gets taken care of by good honest guys.
Great place. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They were able to squeeze me in for a tire change when no one else was willing. Definitely will be returning there in the future.
Nice guys. I would recommend them for fixing up your motorcycle but they can be off putting at first. They are actually nice guys, but you kind of have to get to know them. Knowledgeable people all around.
They were a little pricey but excellent at what they do!!! Got my bike running awesome and gained 6 hp off the custom map they put on my power commander 5. My bike never ran this good before and pulls hard. They even asked me where I wanted my power at. For a custom map this is the place to go!
Had a great week of warm February weather, and I was able to get my dual purpose bike serviced, new tires etc., all within a couple of days, so I am ready to roll. They did this faster, more conveniently, and at a better price than some of the others I checked. They accommodated easily my ability to ride the bike during a stretch of unusually warm winter weather, and I am ready for Spring too with the new tires etc. Great job.
Great place to take your bike that isnt a major dealt so I feel like you get a better deal and I always feel you get the honest truth. I never ever feel ripped off here.
Very disappointed !!! with their customer service talked to Bill on phone they might have had some knowledge but werent willing to share with me just had a couple questions to see if I needed a coil that they had but cut me short explaining situation told me to email him? Bought bikes and parts from them in the past but I this will be my last time. They were short with me once before thought I would give them another shot but no luck, evidently there is no money to be made with a phone call that would intern lead to parts purchased.
Extremely knowledgeably mechanics. They know bikes better than anybody else. Theyve helped me sort out tricky electrical problems. They also have a dyno- not something every shop has. These are high quality mechanics.
I called to ask if they would change a rear tire for me. They said yes and told me it would be $20-40 depending on how much work it would be. I brought my wheel in and was thrilled with the work. The owner wasnt the nicest, but I figured everyone has a bad day from time to time. I called two days later and asked if they could do the front tire. They said sure and quoted me $40 again. I brought the wheel in and the owner started to take my info. I told him no biggie if they cant get to it today. He shouted at me. YOURE NOT GOING TO GET IT TODAY! I laughed, smiled, and said, yup, I just said thats okHe then said its going to be $65 to put a freaking tire on wheel that was already removed from the bike. I said, wow, thats so much more. He looked at me and said, we could cancel it. Knowing that I could get it done cheaper elsewhere, I told him to cancel it. As I was walking out he told me I caught him in a moment of weakness when he did my rear tire two days before and he was charging me extra for the front because the rear tire was a challenge to work on. I thought to myself arent we done here? But instead of saying that I calmly said well, thanks for your weakness and walked out. I went to Suters. They did the tire change on the spot for $35!!Thats one cranky dude. How can someone ride motorcycles and be that unhappy?! Motorcycles bring me joy and for the rest of the day while riding mine I thought to myself Im glad Ill never be as cranky as the owner of Motorcycle Performance. Especially since I have $30 more in my pocket by not having him do the work.
I dont understand the previous negative reviews? These guys are awesome. I called up looking for advice. They suggested I bring my bike in for them to take a look at. I took it in that afternoon and they went over it right away and gave me awesome advice. I havent had repairs done there yet but these guys clearly know their stuff. I will be getting all my work done here from now on!
These old geezers know what they are doing. I am Thankful they are still in business
I have been a customer since the mid-1980s. I have had numerous bikes worked on by Motorcycle Performance and never had the work not properly done. Im no mechanic, and they know it, so they often point out things needing attention (and if its simple enough theyll sell me the part and point me in the right direction) otherwise I have them do it. I had the shop build me a custom street bike (a contemporary café racer) in 1996 and Im still riding it (2016) with no unexpected problems. Some complain that they are expensive, but in large part its because the owner pays his employees better than most shops, and they stay at his shop for many years. Fair wages to workers and not lining the owners pocket? Heck yes, Ill reward integrity. While I ride, they get my business. They have earned it over and over.
Fantastic shop, very knowledgeable and did fantastic work on my Ducati!
Absolutely terrible and one star is far too much generosity for them! They sold me the wrong battery for my bike, which burned my circuits and they took no responsibility about it. They began blaming me about it, and they alluded that I had given them the wrong bike model, to justify their error in selling me the wrong battery. When I told them how come they did not know the model of my bike, nevertheless they had changed the front wheel of it the week before. They said they never look at their records.Dont even get close to that place, its a loosing proposition. Youll probably end up in small claims court to recover from the abuse of the quality of work and customer service.
Very knowledgeable, however the mechanic I talked to made me feel like a real idiot. They know their stuff but are fairly expensive for the work provided. If youve got the extra cash go for them, I will be shopping around in the future.
Did a lot of work on my honda ruckus and it runs perfectly, Dyno report is very interesting to see how much you improve the performance.Very helpful guys, very knowledgable, and with a shop not quite like Ive ever seen before. They are pricey, but you are paying for top quality service, will for sure be back again soon.
Rip off artists! Got my oil changed on my Honda Elite scooter there last year $80! Its a single cylinder 4 stroke, no oil filter to change either, less than 2 quarts of oil. This year took it to Scooter Therapy on Few St. in Madison, the owner Randy, did it himself and made some minor adjustments. $30!!! Bill W. you should be ashamed of yourself! No, I do not wish to finance your racing hobby. Go anywhere else people!!
Ive had decent luck with these guys in the past - overall they charge a lot compared to the competition, but the quality and thoroughness of their work has always been superior - though I did get some of that youre a dumb college boy attitude in past visits, it was not a big deal.I moved away from Madison over the winter, leaving my bike (valued at less than $1000) behind with a known electrical problem. I called MP to tow it to their shop and investigate the problem. Within a day or two, I was given an estimate for almost $900.00 for:towingdiagnosticreplacing the battery and testing the rest of the electrical systemreplacing worn front tiregas tank line cleaning/fuel replacementoil leak patchand a seventy-four dollar fee to wash it first, because of the dangerous pigeon poop that had accumulated over the fall/winter.Obviously, most of this stuff is a bit extraneous for an old tank like mine - the only thing that really needed to be done was replacing the front tire and the battery. I told the guy (William Wisenant) to skip everything but that, but he insisted that he would not start repairs without charging me $74 to clean it - and still said it would be ~$600.00 for the tire, tow, battery, and further electrical diagnostics (which I had already said I didnt want)Since thats obviously ridiculous, I had took the time to drive to Madison, replace the battery myself (purchased elsewhere, thank you very much), and wash the stupid thing (it took like 5 minutes, $74 my ass), and then asked them to charge the battery for me and replace the front tire. I was going to take it somewhere else out of irritation, but they told me they could have it done the next day (they did). Both on this visit and on the return visit to pick the bike up I could hear the mechanic (William, presumably) swearing and yelling about my decision to do it myself, the battery, and the labor it took to take the damn seat off. Overall I escaped with about $300.00 in charges, which was not unreasonable for the tow, dead battery diagnostic, charge, and front tire replacement. The front desk guy (another William) was pleasant and seemed a bit sympathetic about the situation, but overall it was a fairly uncomfortable experience, and I wont be using them again. Motorcycle performance, you are not doing me a favor for getting my bike running again. Even if Im the biggest cheapskate in the world, Im still paying you an honest fee for the work I DID have you do. You wasted an entire day of mine to make me come up there to avoid ridiculous fees and unnecessary diagnostics. I dont know if the problem is just with this one mechanic, but this is an unacceptable way to run a business.Unless you have a really nice bike that you want to keep in tip-top condition (and are willing to pay out the nose to do so), I would stay away. Suters on the east side works cheaper and more politely, though the quality is not as good.
As a novice biker, I took my 1980 Yamaha 850S by to ask their opinion. A gentleman was a bit terse, but took time to perform a cursory evaluation.Recently my rear brake locked up - they found the needed parts and rebuilt it in a timely manner.Seem to be bikers bike shop. No nonsense. When my bike was inoperative, one of them offered me a ride home. Thank you WJ an Bill.Good to have a knowledgeable shop so handy.
They do good work here but are incredibly condescending and short with people. Unless youre a serious motorcycle guy and an old gear head they treat you like youre stupid and are wasting their time. Im going to Englehardts next time.
Had my 2003 HD FLSTFI converted from chain to gear driven timing with new cams and oil pump. I couldnt have asked for better service! I wasnt expecting before and after Dyno testing but they did it and the results have me very excited! I have a trip out to the Smoky Mountains coming up soon, they worked hard to get it finished so I could get some riding in before the big trip. I have nothing but good things to say about this shop! Highly recommend!
Couldnt be bothered to help me with something I was unsure of. Rude on the phone.
First time customer and will never be taking any more of my business to them $200 dollars of pure regret. Now I am not taking anything away from their work which is excellent, but they will be condescending when talking to a lowly customer. Definitely the “you’re to stupid to work on a motorcycle by yourself” type. Also they will charge you A LOT for whatever they do, again not taking anything away from the work they do it is good, but they overcharge for parts and will hit your cap or go over if they happen to set on. As a new Ducati owner I planned on taking my bike there for everything I didn’t feel comfortable doing myself, but after my first interaction I will gladly travel somewhere else with my bike on a trailer to get my maintenance done. I would not recommend taking your stuff there unless you’re the type who easily is easily convinced by a mechanic that something needs to be done. A great example is timing belts they charge at least $85 dollars for them and them being a CA cycle works parts dealer they get them for $50 or less as I purchased them for CA and got the pair for $100. Again if you don’t want to be talked down to by a condescending prick of a mechanic, and feel about as important to them as pond scum then go somewhere else.
Flat out outstanding!! Took my 1979 750 CBF to these guys to have the carbs worked on. Had carb work done by a different shop a few years back and it ran ok... These guys made my bike run like a top!! Outstanding work, have never had my bike running so well. Highly recommend for all your motorcycle work or parts!!
Great folks, great bikes and service... lots of accessories
Got a bunch of attitude asking about tire mounting and was told I wasnt st the top of his dance card very rude and ignorant when trying to ask questions. Avoid at all cost
Tried calling 2 times for info on a part they said they had in stock. Talked to two different people. Very dismissive, told me just to come in and buy the part. Said they were too busy to deal with me on the phone. You want poor customer service, go here.
Honest!!!
Rude people, not pleasant to deal with.
Dropped bike off for tire change, returned to my brakes replaced and a bill I was not expecting with no heads up. Will never return for service here.
My go to place for service if not under warranty. Not the cheapest but could be the best.
Lousy. Dishonest. Arrogant and expensive. That summs it up.
