Well organize used vinyl records. Staff was helpful and instructional for someone just getting into vinyl.The new LP section was pretty extensive too.

This store is pretty well curated. Ive been there about 3 times and I always find something. Usually Im looking for used LPS of more recent indie artists. Im not much for classic rock, but there is a good amount of that used.Their new LPS are well priced, modern, and eclectic artist just off center of mainstream. They get extra points for being close to my house and Taco Palace, which makes weak margaritas but pretty great tacos.

By far one of the best record shops I’ve been to in Madison. Owners super cool and friendly and lets you explore at your leisure.

Came in to browse. They had a good selection of vinyl and CDs ranging mostly from rock and some more recent records to jazz. Friendly checkout experience and good prices. Willing to come back here to shop again.

I was appalled at the pittance (under $1.75 each) they were willing to pay for the vinyl albums I wanted to sell them, especially after seeing their website which states they pay more for vinyl than any other record store in Madison. If you have vinyl records to sell, dont waste your time bringing them here.

I bought a fistfull of records here today. A well curated store. Dave always has good things to buy. Covid worries? Putem aside. The store is cleaned and sanitized. Expect to wear a mask and gloves. Youll feel safe.

Awesome local music shop!! Great selection of records and CDs and even some cassettes! And, if you need anything they dont have, theyll order it for you!! Very nice staff, and the place is really clean and well lit! Have some nice Mad City Music merchandise too. Bought some local fresh ground coffee they sell there that Im looking forward to brewing! Great place that I highly recommend!

I already liked this record store before, and now that its moved to Atwood (and a slightly larger space) it has only improved. Their LP and CD selection is just as great as before, and the improved mobility around the space in Atwood is a good quality of life improvement while browsing. Combined with nice staff thats willing to help you find what you need, MadCity is worth a stop to find your next album.

This is my favorite place to be. The staff treat you like a friend instead of a customer.

Maybe theres a new store owner or something but I found this place to be somewhere Ill not be going back to.Selection: Tons of stuff no nobody has ever heard of, which is why I guess I saw so many hipsters in there. The selection of anything I was looking for from rock/jazz/metal were all absent.They dont take care of their records at all. Everything in the new in bin is jammed in there which anyone who knows records, IS NOT A GOOD THING. Want 45s? Go elswhere, they got them all thrown up into a bin to get all scratched and mangled.This part is my own fault, I was excited to find Righteous Brothers and bought them. Find out when I get home theyre scratched all over. Everything I picked up there was scratched. They apparently dont check anything they get in or are so desperate for customers theyll accept anything in.Staff was cool so thats why theres 3 stars. Prices are cheap, and seeing the condition..I can see why.Go to Strictly Discs, better selection and they take better care of their stuff and check everything that comes in.

Went in for the first time today. Super helpful staff and I found a couple gems in the dollar section. Didnt have exactly what I was looking for, but they were super helpful with telling me how often the artist I wanted comes in. Nice selection of newer and a lot of older stuff.

Every other wreka sto Ive ever been in has seemingly always had a quirk or three...atmosphere, staff that were apathetic or worse, price point way too high, etc... MadCity Music is now my go-to! No pressure, helpful staff, and the price is right. Come on down!

As an Okie whos used to seeing more metal in a record store I was left a little disappointed, but nonetheless impressed with the facility. Ended up picking up a promotional copy(!) of Pig Destroyers newest album on CD and a couple free posters to hang in the casa. Service was a little on the apathetic side but was made up for with the laid back, clean atmosphere and wacky random selection. Will definitely be back for those L7 lps when Im back in Madison!

Though Im relatively new to vinyl, Ive loved music for as long as I can remember. With that said, I had an absolute blast flipping through the multiple bins of used LPs. With a Sha Na Na album next to The Basement Tapes, I knew I would hopelessly spend many hours and many pennies at my new favorite place. They even have turntables set up to test/listen to the used LPs for quality, or for nostalgia. Overall a fantastic place that I will continue to frequent just to ensure that it never leaves me. Just like every good relationship, a healthy give and take.

My favorite record shop in Madison. Not the biggest or the most selection, but the prices are generally reasonable, good condition and the owner and staff are friendly.

Cool record store just a few blocks from the capital building. They even have turntables to test the records before you buy them.
