One of the managers there really took care of our large order for materials as if it was for his own project. He reviewed all plans and shipped everything needed on a reasonable amount of time at a competitive price. Moreover, he was kind enough to cover any shortage on materials and send that our way. This home addition project was certainly made possible by these guys. They deal with you as if you’re the only customer they have, despite how busy they can get. If only there was an option for 0 stars. Completely unprofessional group of people. Started a warranty request which took almost 3 months to get someone’s attention. The manager Nicholas Cittadino tries to do smart talk, but just extended time as much he could and finally after 2 months of wait he handed over to this guy who seems like ghost employee Caleb Voelker. Every time I tried to follow up with this guy, he would straight away avoid even coming on the phone, and would be either out having lunch or speaking to another ghost customer or just simply out for the day by noon. It was hilarious sometimes but we were so much frustrated with their nonsense. We are still not resolved with our issue, and had to reach out to 84Lumber headquarters customer relations. Finally after 3 months we got to know, that there is some other company we have to reach out to now. This is simply not acceptable given the issue we are facing. I hope and wish such people like Caleb and Nicholas never work in this industry as they add more salt to the wound without fixing it, what they are really supposed to do. Very very …….very bad experience with 84 Lumber!
I’m a GC. Don’t use this company. Their philosophy is making the quickest buck over anything. It’s a short term business plan that ultimately will fail. Probably why they are dying off slowly.

Went with 84 Lumber, Manassas over Lowe’s, despite being $300 more on a $4900 deck order because a faster delivery was promised. Order was promised to be delivered on Friday... no delivery, reached out on Monday, said possibly Tuesday due to the manufacturer problem. I had to call on Tuesday, “Ryan” said 1st thing Wednesday. Told Ryan to call me on Wednesday as confirmation. I had to call at 2:00 PM to ask where my $4900 order was. Ryan said next truck on Wednesday. “Nick”, the manager, was borderline rude & unapologetic. I will never walk in or place an order with 84 Lumber again.

Good prices and good selection of basic lumber. I got sick of big box 2x4 selections where I waste an hour looking for a straight piece. Its much easier here to find a selection of clean and straight pieces.
If I could give ZERO stars, I would.It all started in December when my contractor ordered cabinets for my kitchen. They came in just on time before Christmas and we started work just after the holidays.In Mid-February, it became clear that two cabinets were not the correct size. In addition, two peninsula cabinets were delivered without finished backs.84 Lumber would NOT work with my contractor to make things right!After 2 weeks, my contractor went over their head and contacted the regional manager. The regional manager finally sent people out to look at the situation a week later. These folks agreed to make things right and the replacement cabinets were to be delivered last Friday. Then they were postponed until the following Tuesday then Wednesday first thing.My contractor sat around the house and twiddled his thumbs all day! The cabinets FINALLY arrived at 6PM. Another day LOST!Ive not been able to have company for OVER A MONTH because whats supposed to be in the cabinets is ALL OVER the rest of the house!The Timberlake cabinets are gorgeous! Just DONT try working with 84 Lumber in Manassas to get them!
I went to 84 lumber on a Saturday Morning April 23th and spoke with Kevin one of the co-managers about decking material. Told me he couldnt get me a quote till Monday. Never heard from him called him on Tuesday and emailed still no response.Talked to Kevin on Friday, who asked for me to send pictures of my deck.and I did. Said he would send a quote the next day. I didnt get one. Called on Monday May 2nd, told he was off. So with the lack of response I went to Builders first. Ordered the material needed and I am getting it on Thursday.So 84 lumber lost out on roughly 4,000 dollar sale. Dont plan on going back there.

Needed to special order some Cedar. Called and placed order on a tuesday, was informed I would get a call on thursday confirming receipt and then a call on friday for delivery. Never got the thursday call, I called them friday and they said the lumber was in and they would call me with deliver confirmation. I got a call but it was to inform me the lumber had NOT been delivered and wouldnt be delivered till tuesday ruining my weekend project for my wife. I explained the situation and asked if they could discount the delivery or anything in consideration. They said no. I canceled my order and went with a different vendor who happened to be half the cost! I guess it worked out.

84 Lumber in Manassas is hit or miss. If you get the 1 helpful employee out of 5 then things go smoothly. On the other hand, if you get one of the other employees who seems too preoccupied and/or doesnt know anything about building materials then you should just go to another building supply place and not waste your time. I prefer Groves Lumber in Remington or Barrons Lumber (which is down the street from 84 Lumber in Manassas). Builders First Source in Elkwood, VA is another choice, but they dont really have a showroom for drop-ins.The reason I have to deal with 84 Lumber from time to time is because I like to ask for 2 to 3 bids for my projects to make sure I am getting a reasonable price. 84 Lumber usually never gets back to me or I have to deal with someone that does not even know what an LVL is.84 Lumbers only competitive advantage is the fact that they are open on Saturdays until 4 pm. I think the only reason they do this is because they are losing market share to their competitors, who have better sales people.In case people are wondering, I build custom/spec homes. I dont purchase a lot of materials like the large commercial builders or tract home builders so that may be why I get poorer quality service. If you are a DIYer or doing smaller remodeling jobs - 84 Lumber probably is not the right place for you.
