If you’re looking for a fantastic place to eat in Manhattan Beach, look no further. A great friend took me there for the first time and WOW! Their staff was wonderful and helpful in getting us seated fast. Right on their outside patio overlooking the Ocean. Now for the food, unbelievable and by far the BEST selection of whatever you’re craving. I had the Cajun grilled shrimp salad and it was fabulous, without exaggerating one bit, it was fantastic. Now let me tell you about their “Onion Rings,” absolutely scrumptious and VERY LARGE, couldn’t even finish them, but they were memorable to the last bite. Don’t miss this this place.
Today I had an early dinner here. Tried the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger. Ordered medium rare with fries. First bite it seemed like they had made it medium. But later on the dryness of the burger made me realize it was probably more of a medium well. It has been the same story no matter which burger place I go. I didn’t complain: one, because it tasted good; and two, because it would probably come back pretty much the same. I am seriously considering that on the next time I go to a place and order a burger, I’ll take with me a signed document saying I take full responsibility if I suffer from eating undercooked meat. Maybe then I’ll get a jucier burger. Well, despite all this rant about eating well done or medium well burgers, I actually liked this burger. Bacon was very good and BBQ sauce too. Fries were crunchy and tasty. All in all a good experience.
Overall a great restaurant. While there was a wait for outdoor seating, we were able to get seats inside quite quickly. I found the restaurant to be quite clean, and the wait staff satisfactory. For food, I had the angle hair carbonara with a side of broccoli cheddar. While the broccoli cheddar was a bit on the cooler side, the food was overall good. In the end I would recommend this restaurant.
So we loved it so much of course where going to bring good friends we havent seen for over a year do to the covid here, and once again not disappoint, the wait wasnt as long, 20min. And juzt loved the food and the company, great atmosphere and buzzing with happy people, our friends never been here and they told us there coming back with or without us, lmao, you totally got to try this Place out, 😄
Very nice for a good time and comfort food this will be a good place and they serve breakfast all day. Next time will be back for the breakfast. By the way the staff is awesome.
My bestfriend and I have this tradition to visit The Kettle for brunch every time we roadtrip to SoCal. Located on a corner just blocks away from stunning Manhattan Beach, The Kettle has a large selection of breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner entres.Service is friendly, food is good and compared to Bay Area prices, the cost is decent.I ordered a Half-Sandwich which came with a soup, salad or fries side. I picked the roasted turkey with cranberry mayo, a French onion soup with cheese and bread and this also came with sliced fresh fruits (honeydew melon, watermelon and pineapple). The sandwich was delicious, French onion soup was a tad salty and the fruit was perfectly ripe and sweet.Booth seating is a bit tight, Id recommend requesting table seatingCant wait for our next visit.
Breakfast with a view. Disappointed they didnt have the pot roast Benedict. I was told even if the cook comes in at 5 am its not ready til 10. I think the menu should indicate its available after a certain a time. Otherwise the menu has a variety of breakfast items, some traditional and some with a little flare
This place is absolutely fabulous! The customer service is great and efficient. The menu is absolutely fantastic. We went for Sunday brunch and we were absolutely spoiled! My best friend enjoyed am omelet that was not at all shy about all of the fixings! There was plenty of meat! The pancakes were phenomenal. The banana nut muffin was to die for. You can taste that it was made in-house and with tons of love. I ordered the honey fried chicken with biscuits and gravy and breakfast potatoes which came with a side of fresh fruit. First off, the fruit was the most ripe and fresh! The chicken was fried to perfection. It was very juicy and the skin was so crunchy 😋. The gravy and pepper biscuits were great and the breakfast potatoes did not disappoint. We each had both of the breakfast/brunch cocktails and had a nice buzz, not to mention, they were tasty! This will be an absolute go-to every time I visit LA!
I hate giving 5-start reviews because it leaves no room for improvement. That being said, here we are.I stepped inside per the instructions on the side outside. I was ushered to a booth with more than adequate social distancing. Coffee was offered before I even got seated. The Hangover was the recommended breakfast and it didnt disappoint. I didnt even look at the menu. /ShrugWhat can I say? Everything was right and service was perfectly balanced to provide service without being a nuisance.
This place was a regular for my husband growing up and he’s taken me a few times. The service has always been good in my experience with friendly staff. The greens omelet was great with a good amount of veggies but the chipotle sauce on top was just ok. And the potatoes are just ehhh with no flavor, not really worth eating. The blueberry muffin with butter is delicious!! My husbands chicken tortilla soup was really good with a large portion of toppings. His Reuben sandwich was great, though not a traditional Reuben since it has ham and turkey instead of corned beef. They only serve drip coffee, no lattes :( We will still be back!
Super fast service on a busy Saturday brunch large portions great food. Honey fried chicken with biscuit and gravy was a feast.
A nice setting, block plus from beach. Good service and good food. They are open 24 hrs, but much classier than a Dennys or Norms and serve high quality food at a reasonable price. I would go there again when in that area. (6am parking was easy. I can see as the day progresses, it can be difficult. Its street parking near the beach.)
This place is a hazing always. Open 24hrs good food. Amazing service. Its a one stop top make everyone happy anytime of the day
We stopped in after a day at the beach and enjoyed the atmosphere, food and drinks. The food portions were more than adequate. The shareable brownie sundae was enough for four people! I had the crabcakes, which were two large cakes full of crab and NOT filler. The mango salsa on top was very good. My friend had a barbecue chicken sandwich, which she was was very good also. She took home half the sandwich. The side of fries that came with the sandwich were delicious (I stole a few) and plentiful. We were seated and waited on quickly. The location is far enough away from the beach as to make the line much shorter than the places within a few blocks.
Just to report one of your establishment host rep, he is a male work the hour of 6am-7am. He was very inderectly nasty to me, wile I have a really good humble meal. The Lady Waitress was really nice and helpful. In the other hand back to the, frustrated representative he got so ugly that he walk out to the street and shouting said when Im here you are not welcome . Look at your security system.Regards
Great breakfast. Good hotcakes and the carrot raisin muffin was excellent.
Great spot. Loved the food. Went to Cali for the weekend and we ate here twice. Delish!!!Kia DWeTalkRadio.com
Service is pretty good here. The food is also nice here, and since its a diner its quite cheap! The mashed potatoes are chunky with some skin on it which is my favorite type! The chicken tenders were also seasoned very well, the fries are pretty basic but overall its a good place.
This bathroom was truly something special. The whole room was spotless from top to bottom. Also I was really into the tile choice. The blue mosaic lining the wall was very nice. I also want to comment on something that I feel is very important as a man, and one of thr primary reasons that Im giving the bathroom 5 stars; there was a koala care diaper changing station. Im not a father but its really nice to see that the restaurant is considerate. Great job guys!
Nice place. The wait was a bit long for lunch on a Saturday but I guess thats how itll be for popular places. The waiters need to come around a little sooner to take orders for seated guests. We waited a while. That was the only flaw.Once we gave the order, the food came quickly and the waiter kept checking now and then if we needed anything.Easily one of the best fried cauliflower Ive had. I dont like fried food typically but this was just right. Not too much of batter or oil. It was spicy with a mix of buffalo sauce. Thoroughly enjoyable. The onion rings were way too big. So get it only if you have the appetite to finish them. The quinoa black bean burger was perfect.
Good place to have a late night dinner with your wife and friends .
We drove up this weekend from San Diego for the Rolling Stones concert .had breakfast Sunday morning.the meal was incredible but the bananas nut muffin was to die for.We had to try it again for lunch on Monday and had the pot roast dip.It was the best sandwich i have ever had.My only regret is there is not one in San Diego,we even bought 2 muffins to take home.
Rude staff. Food has declined in quality since the pandemic.
We visited Manhattan beach today and saw quite a few restaurants open. We dropped in at The Kettle to have lunch. The restaurant requires all patrons to wear face covering to enter the facility. Customers are seated in every other table to keep social distance. We felt safe dinning here. This is our first time here. We ordered a fried cauliflower for appetizer. This is quite good compared to other restaurants. Since the waitress told us that the French onion soup is famous here, I ordered the BLT sandwich with a cup of onion soup. The soup is bit too source for me, but BLT is very good with a nice crispy beacon and half an avocado. My wife opted for the egg Benedict with fries. She seemed to enjoy her meal. Our waitress was very friendly. She enthusiastically helped us to select our food and periodically checked on us to see if we needed anything. I also like the atmosphere of the restaurant with nice modern decor and outdoor seatings. There seems to be a lot of people dining here as it’s located just two blocks from Manhattan Beach pier. In fact went down to the pier after lunch. It was a nice day out having lunch near the beach. We really enjoyed how it feels to dine out again after a few months of Quarantine.
This Is a popular place. It is usually crowed and now even more so. The food is good, the prices have gone up and the service is good. It is a French style eatery, but have some Mexican tossed in for good measure. Try it you might like it.
Stuffed French Toast Breakfast was yummy with 5 pieces of bacon, fruit, potatoes and eggs! What a deal!
The sandwich meats were disappointing but the fried chicken and french fried more then made up for it.
Food came out fast and was tasty. Portions are decently sized for the price.I gave four stars because the employees are a bit on the cold and insincere side. Also, an older female employee outside watering the plants had a nasty attitude and could learn a thing or two on how to talk to people on a normal plain.
First time for me. I and a friend went on a walk along the seashore. Came upon this spot.Well,we sat outside and enjoyed the ocean breeze and people watching. Staff were wearing masks. A delightful experience. Food was good and staff attentive. We had breakfast. Enjoyed! Don
The best. I love this place. I grew up coming to the Kettle with my family as a kid. 🥰
I picked this place because of the stellar reviews, but unfortunately our experience was not good.We ordered through google and, when we picked it up, they were kind enough to substitute the flavor of the juice which apparently, even if choosing correctly, the app just messed up sending a preset one instead of our choice. Well, thanks. When we opened the boxes though…Not only the food is basically diner food, but they forgot to add the breakfast potatoes to my already overpriced avocado toast. My friend’s eggs Benedict were overcooked, almost hard boiled, and sliced deli ham is NOT Canadian bacon, you guys. We were hoping the muffin would save the day but it was either old or not cooked properly, just tasteless and almost rancid. Bad experience.Hopefully someone else will have their dish served properly.
Susan the receptionist had no patience for our group to be seated and gave us her unasked opinions as to how we wanted to be separated. She went back and forth with us about our preferences. Ended up leaving because security and other employees made us very uncomfortable.
Dinning in I’d give The Kettle a Five star rating .. but I had recently order today a Door Dash order the exact same dish I ordered dinning in the Blackened Salmon Sandwich when I placed my order on door dash I expected the same thing I ordered dinning in but for some odd reason I didn’t receive the mamou sauce on the sidewalk stated in the description, I was so disappointed. It’s just like having your favorite food with out having your favorite Condiment to bring the dish more alive . .
The food is pretty amazing here and the service is incredible. Great place for the family and they have an excellent menu Im sure everyone would love.
Great food, great service..... beautiful location.... I always hVe to go there when I come home
I love The Kettle. Not only is it right by the beach, but the whole vibe is awesome. The spinach dip & naan chips... Yum. I get it every time. This is definitely a place I would recommend.
The food is delicious. Reasonable pricing too. Many options to choice from.We sampled their soups the corn chowder and the chicken tortilla. They were both good. If you buy one of their suppers a soup or salad comes on the side plus a garlic toast or muffin which they forgot to give us.So we got the stir fry chicken. It was good. Lots of veggies plus we got the chicken tortilla it tasted hot and cold which is interesting. Also we got the chicken club with fries. It was good. The portions were huge and just right. So make sure your hungry lol. They also have a patio. I love their flowers and decor inside as well.
The food was whatever but the service was great. My server was named jazzy and she made me feel like I was the only one there. She was attentive. I would come back just for the service
Good food, Zucchini is great, huge! Salad was very beautifully green and delicious...
We were greeted warmly and promptly by Jaxon. We were sat quickly and attended to right away by Monica. The food was amazing and the atmosphere is very warm and comfortable. The manager, Jeff, stopped by the table. What a great all-around experience. I recommend a visit to the Kettle whenever you visit Manhattan Beach.
Such a cute spot (and iconic). Clearly a favourite amongst locals. We got a glass of red (very generous pours) and dessert -- great place for a nightcap!
Wandered in here with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. This place has a charming old school feeling to it. Its a nostalgic place that made me feel like Ive been there before. Located at the corner of Highland and Manhattan is a perfect spot for people watch during a sunny day if yourre into that sort of thing. I got the french onion burger. If youre a fan like myself for good french onion soup then this burger will not disappoint. The meat to bun ratio is on point and the patty is gloriously slathered in caramelized onion along with a melty swiss cheese. It like someone poured a great cup of french onion soup over a burger but in a good way. The brioche bun is the perfect vehicle for soaking up all that goodness. Its safe to say that I liked this unique burger and will definitely be back to try their other many offerings of comfort foods...
Nice place. Open 24 hours. Great service. Good fruit and coffee.
Gave me food poisoning!!! I just ordered Postmates last night for some late night crab cakes, fries and onion rings just to puke it out! I’m sure the food is ok when prepared correctly, but I’m in pretty bad shape and I won’t be ordering again -first time and last time!
This is one of our favorite places to go in the LA area....we regularly drive down from Culver City to eat here. The food is always delicious no matter what you get, and made from scratch. The staff is super nice and attentive, but not annoyingly so. Also, they are close to the Manhattan Beach pier which is always a good place for an after-dinner stroll. But the best reason to come here, in my humble opinion, is the French Onion soup...some of the best in town!
Dinner was phenomenal and the prices were great! If you are in Manhattan Beach, make sure to visit. They had plenty of seating, every other booth wasnt used to allow social distancing, and face masks were required.Pro Tip - Get the French Onion Soup. Youll thank me later!
Sat on the outdoor porch which surrounds the restaurant. Grrst place to people watch. I ordered the French toast stuffed with cream cheese and orange marmalad. Delicious. Sampled may daughters French onion soup. Cheese good. A bit pricy but worth it. Handicap accessible
The food was not out of this world, but it wasnt discusting either. I wouldnt mind going there again to try something else on the menu. And their open 24 hours, thats always nice.
Great food! And after your meal you can a walk on the pier!
The food here is exceptional, they are open 24 hours I just really wish they had more servers. Other than this I love the place 😈
Honey chicken was good, onion soup was fantastic. Service was awesome. They are open 24 hours. I will be back to try more food.
The spinach dip was delicious and the rest of the dishes were big enough to share. It was my first visit but all my servers recommended items were good.
Good food, cool Manhattan Beach vibe, reasonable prices. Theyve been in business for decades and theyre open all night. Parkings a little tough on Saturday night, but thats not The Kettles fault. I highly recommend this place.
Been coming here for 10 yearFood and services are excellent. They have the best French onion soup.
I ordered the fish trout and I noticed that the fish was not cooked, and when I tried it it was not good and not cooked. I didnt ate it at all, but I did tell the server. The only thing that the server was, is she was sorry and that was it. The soup was terrible. Salty and overwhelmed with cheese. Didnt eat that either. My friend and just pay and left. Were very disappointed and dont know what to think about that place.
Really enjoyed the eggs Benedict and the ham & cheese omelette. So yummy I forgot to take photos. Definitely will return to give lunch a try
Good and fast service, food is nothing very remarkable
I have been coming to the Kettle for years/decades..... Always had good/great food, but this morning I had quite the opposite experience. French onion soup was was good except for the crouton on top! My fried chicken & mashed potatoes were barely warm and FLAVORLESS! My daughter found hair in her in her barely cooked fried cauliflower! But we didnt complain, paid full price & left...... Praying this was just a Mishap of COVID!
Such an iconic, and wonderful place.I live in New York but am in town for work and have been hitting up all of the old family stomping grounds. The Kettle is one of those classic places.I’ve been coming here with my family since I was a little kid. Every time we came, my dad ordered the Oeufs Pain Perdu, and my mom got their signature blueberry muffin - they are really special. There is one amazing waiter that has just been there for as long as I can remember, and today - when I stopped in for a little breakfast before heading to LAX, and back to New York - that waiter was there.Always a really wonderful experience at The Kettle!
The service provided by this team was so efficient and welcoming. Not once did I have to try to get their attention when my friend and I needed something. (Which makes it perfect, Im an introvert.) The waiters always came before beverages were way too low or gave us enough time to make a decision to order and checked back in right on time without us having to search for our waiter to come back. These are a few examples that I personally experienced. As for the food! So many options to choose from when it comes to the menu itself. The food we have chosen were absolutely delicious. Especially the appetizer~ (In case youre curious, it was a spinach cheese dip.) Totally recommend this restaurant!
Great home tasting comfort food ..good sized portions..friendly service..today was beautiful so we sat outside..great ambiance. We had the honey fried buttermilk chicken with house potatoes ..fried onions...the DIY Bagel with lox..and the kale and quinoa salad with garlic bread. All excellent choices!
Water tasted horrible🤮 but the food was excellent with generous serving sizes
The kettle has been a staple in my family since the 80’s. My mom was raised in LA and then passed this tradition on to me and my brother who once lived in Mexico and came to live in the South Bay. It’s become such a familiar restaurant for me. Despite my families tradition, I have LOVED every item on their menu. I’ve introduced this restaurant to all my friends and extended family. I know nowhere else like it. The kettle will always have a special place in my heart 💜!
Great service. We sat on the patio. Fun to watch the crowd walk by. Enjoyed the breakfast dish I had. Very welcoming manager and servers.
Always a staple when bar hopping in Manhattan Beach for late night munchies. Now living in a pandemic takes dining out to a new meaning. The customer service, value and energy here still remains the same and will continue to be a go to place for dining for all times of day. During my most recent visit we ordered the soup and salad combo full size and was perfect for sharing. Our food is always hot fresh and made with the finest ingredients. Cleanliness has never been an issue but have surpassed my expectations with how they clean in times of a pandemic.
We came to this restaurant last night Sunday August 1st 2021 which is only few hours from writing this review. Took forever to get our meals and still mixed up the order. Other people came after us but got served before us. Some of the dishes were cold not only just warm. Meals are over priced. Bad experience over all although we used to come here before and we used to love this place. I hope it goes back to how it was before. Won’t go there again for a long time specially on weekends and holidays.
Quick seating, excellent service and great bananas foster French toast.
