The employees are great and I couldnt ask for more. I have no problem paying extra at a local establishment. That being said at the same time the owner should pay the employees a better wage instead of requesting customers to pay a premium and be asked to tip on every order when the employees are not tip workers. Pay your employees a better wage!
This place is an absolute gem. The food is phenomenal. The staff are an absolute delight. The ambience is just great. The staff at the register guided me through their menu and didnt judge me when I mispronounced focaccia(which is no longer on the menu, but thats okay). I ordered the cranberry turkey on wheat with a side of house chips, and the fan favorite Mango Berry Freeze smoothie. There was not a single thing I disliked. Beautiful presentation and colorful combination of tastes. The smoothie was refreshing and perfect for hot summer days. The self-serve ice water station is a great touch. Everything about this place is wonderful, amazing, beautiful. From the youthful, but laid back ambience, to the music (which felt like they reached into my Spotify playlist and pushed shuffle) that played throughout the joint. Again, I cannot express how kind the staff is, the two FOH staff that I interacted with during my visit are accommodating, courteous and friendly!I wish I had their names, but I visited yesterday [9/9/21] around 11:00am. I hope to visit this spot again soon and try more of their delicious menu!
We were excited try a new spot to us. Ordered lunch, sandwiches tasty, but very slim with ingredients/portions (looked like I could have made at home). Mac n cheese generous with portion size, average in taste. Will return to try again. 😊
First time and it was excellent!!! I will definitely be back.
Stopped here for lunch while I was in town to take a dog to kstate for a medical issue. Nice atmosphere, good staff, good food. The portion size for the falafel tacos I got was smaller than I expected, but it tasted great and the zucchini noodle salad I got with it was very fresh and flavorful, so I dont feel I can really make it a formal complaint. I just imagine it might be less food than some would expect.
Terrible service today. I bought a breakfast burrito and was asked to warm it up in the dirty microwave for two minutes. I was shocked that I paid to warm up my own cold burrito. Terrible breakfast food options today. Not recommend.
The portions compared to the price are disappointing, to say the least. They make a French restaurant look like a bargain food chain. To supplement the poor amount of actual food, they provide generic chips/ pretzels like youd get for $.25 at the store. The main course itself was unremarkable, one might as well go to Subway to get a better, cheaper, more filling meal.
Great food and atmosphere! Enjoy their Sunday Jazz Brunches!
Ive been to Bluestem a number of times over the last few years and its been a middling sort of experience pretty much every timeThe good, the staff here is always very cordial, and the atmosphere and amenities provided are better than a lot of coffeeshops and such in the area, its a nice environment for working on schoolwork, youre next screenplay, or whatever else. They also have access to a meeting-space with a bulk drink discount available for large groups, which works very well for groups of any sort. The middling, prices are rather expensive for the quality of food specifically. Drinks are more reasonably priced and of excellent quality in comparison, but their kitchen is more of a kitchen of convenience. One particular memory that comes to mind is order breakfast burritos, and being informed to microwave them around the corner. Its certainly understandable for food to-go and such, but dont expect a meal per-say, more a snack or something to go along with your studying.Theres nothing expressly bad about Bluestem, but my experience has been very average for the quality of food, pricing, etc. A wonderful place for a coffee and a hang
Been here a few times with a great atmosphere inside or outside. Whether it is studying inside with great coffee or other drinks option or bring a dog and hanging out on patio furniture. Service and the taste of food has always been wonderful. I just figured out I am slightly lactose intolerant and they were extremely helpful with needed substitutions and questions. They also have few options for vegetarians or vegan food and they also have paleo food options. Most recently I had a gyro and smoothie. There patio is dog friendly as long as there food behaved and stay off the nice patio furniture.
I visited the Bluestem Bistro for the first time today with my two brothers and had an enjoyable experience! The cashier greeted us when we walked in and said thanks when we left, which is a very hospitable thing to do so I appreciate that. The space is quite large offering both indoor and outdoor dining. I liked that there is a private dining area for groups that want to meet together, and that the outdoor seating area is dog friendly! The inside overall is airy and inviting which makes it a great space for studying or catching up with a friend. The cortado I ordered was prepared well and definitely did the job caffeine wise! The biggest downside I noticed was it is quite hard to find vegetarian friendly items on the menu. The veggie focaccia is really the only vego friendly item that has some substance to it so I ordered that with pretzels. What I liked about the meal is how soft the bread was and all of the ingredients on the sandwich were very fresh! What I did not like and the reason for docking 1 star came down to lack of vegetarian friendly options, the side of pretzels were sort of dumped on the plate from a larger bag and I think for the price of the meal the value just wasnt there for me. The sandwich itself could use more ingredients on it especially since again its the only vegetarian sandwich available. I think adding some onion, tofu, extra peppers, black olives, anything really I mean theres a lot of veggies that could make this sandwich ten times better and more filling. Just a suggestion! For future I would recommend others check out this cafe and play a game or get a coffee. If given the chance to come back again I would give Bluestem Bistro another try.
Love Bluestem! It’s affordable, has great food and kind, welcoming staff. I think my favorite part is how kid-friendly they’ve made it - You know how you can technically take your children most places but you still kind of feel looked down on? I’ve never felt that way at Bluestem and I believe the owner Kevin has really driven that atmosphere. Would highly recommend if you want a sweet local Manhattan spot!
Good coffee and food. Always nice place to stop
The employees were very friendly and my green tea was excellent.
I really enjoy Bluestem! As far as food goes, this is an amazing place for breakfast/lunch. The pastries are great! Though, as far as coffee goes, I cant say its my favorite location in manhattan. The coffee (counting both espresso beverages and drip coffee) is good, but not great In my opinion. This comes down to consistency and the beans that are used. But overall, its still a great place to study or each lunch with friends!
Very friendly staff and they have always surprised me on how fast they serve the drinks and food. I personally love their lemonade. Atmosphere is very comfortable and pleasant.
Friday lunch special is a deep dish pizza. Better than anything from Chicago. Order it, but be early.
Very ordinary lamb gyro, small!Mango margarita was bitter, acidic, no mango flavor. Tasted like it came out of a plastic bag delivered on tuesdays.Disappointing..
Fast service & delicious food 😋
Didnt expect to get an owners reply with star reviews only. Hence I might add something.Environment/atmosphere is topnotch, and staff is really friendly.
This is my favorite coffee shop in town. They have a tumbler for sale thats $20 dollars and every time you use it here you get a discount on your coffee.
Always yummy 😋 always gracious 🙂
Great little cafe in the heart of Aggieville serving a variety of baked goods and pastries, with a huge selection of coffee drinks, teas, sodas, and other delicious things. Local live music will occasionally pop-up on the outdoor patio for your enjoyment.
My coffee and muffin were fine, but the interior of the coffee shop smelled like vaporized grease. We sat outside to enjoy our coffee. We would have ordered another round of coffees, but were told that they had shut off the latte machine an hour before closing time for cleaning, and all they could see were teas.
The coffee was great but the cinnamon roll and scone were not baked all the way through and I only could eat a few bites😕Also it doesnt make sense to me to leave a tip when I have to heat up my breakfast in the microwave by myself.
The nicest staff, and great food/coffee.
Great coffee this morning and the chocolate expresso scones were amazing!!!
Great food, great prices and lovely atmosphere. Plenty of areas to sit inside as well as a nice patio for good weather and for a safer experience during covid. Bathrooms are clean and nice and have an diaper changing station.
I had the hazelnut coffee. Very good! My daughters and I shared the quiche, biscuits & gravy, a mixed berry scone and a piece of banana bread. I loved l the fresh fruit and cheesey hash browns on the side. Service was fast and the atmosphere excellent.
Wonderful cinnamon rolls!
Great food, great coffee, great service. Ate here the other day and was pleased with my experience.
My first time here and their special was pizza. So I had the Friday special with salad and a Latte for about $10! It was fantastic! The service was great, atmosphere good, prices good, food taste was fabulous! For a quaint little bistro beyond expectations! ❤
Dog friendly
This place is amazing, by far my favorite cafe. I got a french soda and it was perfect. I also got a scone and it was amazing, would most definitely recommend this place. The service there was very fast we just had to wait for around five minutes and then we got our food.
Great atmosphere, great coffee. If you need a place to study this is it.
We ordered cappuccino, draft beer, the bistro salad and chicken bacon Alfredo. I like the draft beer and coffee. They use the zucchini pasta which tastes fresh and healthy. It’s good place to start a day.
Where to start? Great food with a very diverse menu; lots of drinking options and the coffee is always great. The brunch specials are nice and sometimes they have live music! Nice outdoor seating though the inside can be a little cozy, but I dont mind that. Best place to study in town!
Im not into coffee houses, sorry. Its a social status meeting place. The food goes beyond creative, so it either impresses or is a total let down. The prices reflect the social status quo too. They definitely try to impress, it just wasnt for me.
Bluestem is by far my favorite coffee place in town! Chill, classic atmosphere. Food is good too, I would recommend the chicken pesto pizza
Great food!
Not for breakfast. Overdone old bacon, came out cold. Eggs had to be remade, priced high asked for tip upfront, when you do not recieve service past them handing it to you....Just note to self....self dont do that again.
Bluestem Bistro is one of my favorite places on earth. I have spent many summer days sipping cold drinks on the patio and many winter days inside curled up with a hot drink. I am a Sunday brunch regular, and I know several of their baristas by name. That being said, I dont think that they have adapted well to the current situation due to the COVID outbreak. They have added a sneeze guard in front of the cash register, and employees are wearing masks, but they did not put one up between the line of customers and the baked goods on display next to the register. There is also not a barrier along the drink counter, and while I was waiting for my food, I saw many people put their hands on the counter while asking questions or picking up drinks and it wasnt sanitized between every touch. Actually, I stood there for about 20 minutes, and I didnt see a single surface be sanitized. They have not removed enough tables, and it is difficult to navigate the restaurant and maintain a 6 foot distance. Actually, its impossible, because they still have tables down the middle aisle. The patio is equally crowded. Older people sitting on the patio are not relaxed, because the college aged people are not courteous about keeping a distance. The environment is downright uncomfortable.Bistro, I love you, but I did not feel safe going there today. Im posting this review in hope that you will review your choices. I would love to see your business continue for many years, but Im worried about what an outbreak at your location would do to your reputation. People who are high risk for COVID should stay far away.
Held two events in one day at the Bluestem to celebrate our daughter ‘s graduation. Brunch in the morning and a happy hour later in the day. The staff was great. They were flexible in every way and so cheerful. The food and drinks and the private room worked out perfectly! And we came in under budget! Thank you Bluestem!!!
Greek salad is my fav!!
Still looking for the blue stem, though.....
It is a nice cafe with a pleasant atmosphere. The food is very good, with a home-made quality. The service is great.
My favorite place for coffee - staff is friendly and helpful! Love their pastries and lunch menu too, I’m never disappointed. Try out the patio when the weather’s nice!
The ambiance was comfortable and open, not too crowded or loud, light and airy. The staff were all genuine and friendly, and seemed enthusiastic and whole hearted about good, honest, healthy food. We got great recommendations, the food was INCREDIBLE! Such tasty, succulent, unprocessed comfort food. They ran out of spoons, so my sister got plastic ware, and they forgot my Italian soda which showed up later with very little syrup, but, overall I was delighted and I hope to go back soon.
Extremely diverse menu, fun atmosphere, and the frangelica is a stellar cup of coffee.
A quaint place to grabe a bite to eat or a cup of coffee.
Great for meeting up with other people or try to get some creative input for an assignment. Busy with college students most of the day so snagging a table can be rough, but the food is good and prices are okay for the location. Nice atmosphere.
Go see Nicole and friends! Theyre so sweet and do are the treats and good food! Great job guys!- Shayla 😘
Friendly staff, great outdoor seating, good food and drinks
Tiny portions for greek plate and veggie sandwich. Veg sandwich is mostly bread with a little lettuce. I asked for more veggies due to small size and received a few olives. Bluestem used to be so much better.
Clean restaurant, friendly staff. More of a coffee place than food place. They call you when your drink is done, but cant hear them in the back of the place. Food was decent. Pork was soggy, bread was tough even for foccacia. I git the bottom of the chip bag, so I got mostly crumbs.
The scramble of the day when I went for brunch on a Sunday morning was Caprese, with tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and a balsamic drizzle mixed with eggs and potatoes. It was pretty good but something was a little too chewy, like sun dried tomato chewy, not mozzarella chewy. Im nit-picking a little, because it really was good, but thats why I didnt give five stars. The short line to order moved quickly and the food came out quickly. I just had whatever their house coffee was and it was very good.
A true gem of Aggieville! Great drinks and service plus delicious food! The atmosphere varies but is always a great place to meet, study and more.
One of my favorite places in Manhattan, KS. They have a great staff and are always helpful. Their food is A+ (the white bean chicken chili is my personal favorite) and they offer wonderful drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Portions are just the right size too.
Its what youd could expect of a coffee shop. Its a nice touch having alcohol there. The audience there is college students so its whats youd expect of that. Definitely a mellow place.
Love the americanos and energy bites. Nice atmosphere for studying as well.
Fantastic! Hummus and tomato Florentine soup was best I have had. Turkey on Paleo salad tasted like it was cut from a Thanksgiving turkey right out of the oven. All ingredients fresh. Hostess/cashier/waitress friendly and helpful customizing hummus plate to include only veggies. Highly recommend.
Wonderful and speedy service. The salads are amazing and the pastries are great. Would definitely recommend. Great place to have a lunch date or have a study session.
Great coffee with great service. Attracts a trendy, college crowd as well as other locals. Serves smaller plate meals, pastries, cocktails and craft beer. Small tables indoors and outdoors are good for smaller groups and individuals. Best coffee shop in town.
Casual atmosphere, great tasting food, generous portions, and a very caring staff. I highly recommend dropping in for a wonderful experience!
The food is great; its all very fresh. The baked goods are awesome too. Their salads are amazing..and I dont even love salad - so that says something!
My sisters and I had lunch here, everything was great! I had the Bella Salad, and they had the Fiesta Salad and Greek Salad. I recommend this place. (Bonus points for the awesome patio and interior!)
I love how the staff invites an atmosphere that is welcoming and at the same time hard working. You all are doing a fantastic job serving Manhattan and us college students. Im here often and there is not one staff member that I have not seen involved in the peoples lives as much as they are in their work, which is just a special place to be.
Great atmosphere to get some homework done in the mornings or evenings. Afternoons are busy, but still an awesome place to grab lunch. Their highlander grog coffee is the best and they have the best quiches in town.
Fantastic college town coffee shop. Been going for 5 years and it still makes me smile when the staff knows my name, asks about my life, and remembers what I drink. Coffee and noms are fantastic, especially all the baked goodies! Sunday morning jazz is a great family spot after church to meet up with friends. Bistro love forever!
My first time there and I enjoyed it. I had the Almond joy and a cookie and both were good. The staff was friendly and suggested the items I ended up with. Parking is limited but worth a small walk.
Local and friendly, with great coffee and great snacks. Good place to see local art, study, or meet friends.
Nice sandwich and coffee shop food was delicious.staff was friendly and helpful.
Outstanding employees. Very busy. Good food at reasonable price.
The people make this place, as does the tremendous food (hello deep dish pizza Friday) and delicious drinks - try the Soy Good for You smoothie for breakfast!
Love the coffee, food, and the back patio. Come between 8pm and close for $1 pastries! After-hours drinks are also lovely. Wish there was space for some cozy seating. Can often be crowded and loud and WIFI occasionally has trouble keeping up with demand.
Not bad but feels like a place meant for business workers, students, and hipsters. Least that was the vibe I got. The food and drinks are good though.
Sunday mornings are made so much better when we stop by the Bluestem Bistro... Great breakfast, wonderful easy listening jazz with Wayne Goins and Rick Smith, really friendly service... its all good!
Every time I go here in thrilled with my food. The chili last Friday was great! The energy bars are a great snack.
Love this place! Definitely going to be a regular. They have delicious breakfast burritos and plenty of options for everyone. They even have Paleo options. And you can bring your dog and sit on the outdoor patio. They even have a conference room for large groups. Great local spot.
Great coffee and very friendly staff that go above and beyond. Pricey food but good portion sizes and quality make it worth it. My favorite off campus study spot!
I was greeted with a smile. It just got better afterwards. Highly recommended!
This place has pretty good vibes. And has amazing drinks and food! Their iced Caramel latte is the best.
Bluestem Bistro is incredible. The prices are reasonable and the selection is wide and varied: a full coffee, bar, and food menu. The staff is delightful, and the ambience is always full of laughter.
Some of the best coffee in town! Cute atmosphere to bring homework or a book and sit down for a while. Located conveniently from the university and right in the heart of Aggieville. The locals are always friendly and the staff are helpful.
Quality local coffee shop. Good food, draft beer, good coffee.
This is my favorite coffee shop in Manhattan! Its a great place to spend several hours studying, drinking coffee, beer, or wine, grabbing some lunch, listening to live music, or catching up with friends. The patio is intimate and private with great ambiance, especially at night. Theres a room inside that can hold a group for a meeting or small party is you request it early enough. Local artists adorn the walls. Staff is friendly and quick to serve. The Snickers Latte is sensational! You cannot go wrong with this hole in the wall, gem of Aggieville!
Quaint place. Good food. Good coffee.
