Personal service in an old time hardware store. I love the ambiance.

The mood of the staff here can be hit or miss, in terms of politeness and willingness to help, but overall just glad to have a non HomeDepot/Lowes option close to home.

I went to pick up some ice melter that I had bought last year. I was happy to find that they had it in stock. I also was look for some small hardware parts. They have a very large selection of hardware item. I found exactly what I needed.

Great place I like the fact if they dont have it there they are happy to order merchandise for you

Normally like to support small businesses in Maplewood, but the guys staffing this place have not been wearing masks through the entire pandemic period. This is a small, intimate store with narrow aisles, so its pretty hard to distance. Cmon people! How hard is this? This suggests a lack of respect for customers as well as a lack of basic common sense and business savvy.

I stopped by here a few days earlier to have a key duplicated and thought I’d stop back again whenever I needed to buy something for my apartment rather than order from Amazon or Target.I have never been the type to write negative reviews, but when you ask for help, trying to describe the product you’re looking for and the employee answers in a way that makes you feel extremely stupid for not remembering the name of the product, I feel like that warrants a review.I left without buying the product and won’t be going back again.

I have a 1981 VW and no one else in the city could make me a spare key! But I came in on a hunch and the people at Scheidt could! I had 2 copies made and now I dont have to worry (I also picked up some bird food)They were so nice and friendly! A+

This is the perfect Hardware store. They have an amazing selection, We at Maplewood Plumbing and Sewer make this our first stop when needing things.

Sheidt manages to have just about anything you need while preserving the atmosphere of a very old (100+ years) hardware store. The owners are from prior lives in the in renovation. That is, they are happy to provide informed answers. They are one of the few places that still provide screen repair.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I will not be coming back, and from what the employee said to me, they “won’t miss my business” anyway.Very rude and snarky employees, both times I went in. NOT helpful, at all. Inconsistent information, that I specifically asked about. And one of the employees literally said “I’m not trying to argue with you” after clearly arguing with me.

My experience today is the same that it was a few years ago hence why Ive not been back. I went here thinking I would rather support a small business rather than a chain. Never mind. Ill drive to the Westlake True Value in Brentwood rather than ever step foot in this store again. If you are looking for honest to goodness help this store will not be the answer. Its a cool old building that would make a great bar or shop. Something other than what it pretends to be. When someone shows you what they are about believe them.
