I had a tele that desperately needed some love. After a tune up at Finley & Gage it has never sounded better. It plays like butter and I’m now going to drop off my other guitars

My father had two guitars that were in need of some restoration and TLC: a 1969 Gibson Les Paul deluxe gold top and a 1987 Gibson Chet Atkins. After calling around to a few places I stumbled upon Finley + Gage and the fact they were a neighbor of mine enticed me to call them and check the place out. Sam made my first interaction in their store very welcoming and ensured me that this was the right place to take care of the guitars the right way. And the work that Jason did was immaculate. Love that the guys are local but even more so that they’re knowledgeable and honest guys. The guitars sound great and are back to their original glory. Thanks a lot and I HIGHLY recommend what I’m hoping becomes a Maplewood staple for music.

I brought in a 1951 Martin 00-17 that was in an unplayable state. Their high review rating had caught my attention so I figured I would get their opinion. When Sam said he could fix it I was shocked. I was even more shocked after I picked it up weeks later and it was repaired and restored into amazing condition. Jason had done an amazing job transforming it back to original playing condition (great guitar to just sit down and play for hours) A highly skilled and very personable staff was a pleasure to deal with. I’ve brought multiple guitars in for set ups and I’ve never been disappointed. They also have a unique collection of stringed instruments for sale. Obviously I have become a big fan of Finlay and Gage. 👍

Truly excellent experience from start to finish. I had them do a basic set-up on an acoustic guitar, not really knowing myself what it needed, just having heard that it might be easier to play if the action were lowered. I was reassured from the very first conversation that my guitar would be in good hands and would be better suited to me after their work was done, and they were able to communicate confident professionalism without ever making me feel embarrassed for being a novice myself. Each time I have picked up the guitar since its return has been a joy, and Im so grateful for the results and the excellent help along the way.

First time visiting Finlay and Gage, couldnt be happier. They were able to fix the poor setup that another shop had done, and did a fantastic job re-crowning the frets. This 30 year old guitar was a reverb purchase and is now the best playing guitar Ive ever had.

Was recommended to me by a professional musician friend and I can see why. The guy in front of me was getting extremely thorough cello bow repair advice (it was a goner), after which my ultra-beginner hand was held while buying $5 guitar strings. There was also a store lab puppy, which doesnt hurt.

Finlay & Gage is a fantastic music store! I recently had my guitar refretted and it was done perfectly. It takes skill, knowledge and effort to do it right and I could not be happier with the finished work. I would highly recommend anyone who needs a repair or maintenance done on their music instruments to go to them. It is not easy to find a professional and quality luthier and I feel lucky to have brought my guitar to them.

One of the few stores I found with basses in stock. The employees and owner are very friendly and will let you try the instruments. Theyre also very helpful with making big decisions and making shopping for an instrument less stressful
