I purchased my home in September 2020. Lori was very helpful from the moment she returned my call. She was very nice and helpful on the whole buying process. The office manager Sean even came to Columbus to meet me to sign papers just so I wouldnt have to make another trip to Marion. Even the on call guys (Ray and Marty) have been helpful with answering all my questions. (being my first mobile home) Helping me with new experiences from heat pump questions to a defective faucet they always made time for me. I appreciate the great experience that Clayton Homes in Marion gave me.
Prices on the website are not reliable. When contacting the company John said he would get back to me but didnt specify a time. I called back, he was clueless as to who I was and the gave me a made up number on cost of a modular home. Which he said was out of my budget - no details no explanation. When I asked him to send me details he said it would take a couple of days. Then not even 10 minutes later he emailed me some Outrageous quote he quickly threw together. Do not trust this company! I feel he purposely blew me off because I am a woman! He needs to be written up. Too bad because they came highly recommended from my bank.
We stopped by about a month ago wanting to look at only 3 different homes. We parked in front of the window at the office and walked around the lot for 20 minutes. We found all homes locked so we went into the office. Big mistake!! They wanted all our personal information before allowing us to look at their product. Frankly we had looked at 3 other home builders and didnt have to give all our personal information. We are not the type of people to waste your time. If we dont like the quality of what we are looking at we will tell you we are not interested and leave. But the woman who came out of a room right where she could see us outside walking around stepped into an office on the opposite side of their modular office and went straight to wanting all our personal information. We explained that we hadnt decided if we wanted a double wide, modular, or stick built and just wanted to view a couple of her models. She refused without us giving her our personal information. So we left. We do not like pushy sales people and that is one reason we didnt want to give all our personal information. Plus we find some places sell your personal information and that leads to a bunch of telemarketing phone calls to your phone. She wouldnt even give us pricing. She made us feel she just wanted our personal information. Very robotic type of behavior. I would not recommend anyone working with this company. Maybe your sales staff needs to take pointers from Wayne Homes or Schumacher homes. They treat you like they are interested in making you happy. I would give this company zero stars if I could.
Customer service is something this company lacks! We came in for INFORMATION! Somehow we are sitting down filling out an application. We were told if we don’t put the 1000$ deposit down, the price will increase at least 40,000. I was very uncomfortable putting the money down but wanted the option to still be there if the bank could get me a loan for our budget. I was told to go to the banks and was handed a list. Apparently Clayton sends your information to the bank anyway! I wanted to visit a few of the banks on the list for a pre PRE approval before I decided if it was finically wise. I wasn’t aware that my credit would be pulled during the process without my permission! After some deep thought, we realized that right now just isn’t the time for us. We were reassured our deposit would be sent back to us within a week. It’s been 3 weeks and I can’t even get a call back. Maybe the sales staff shouldn’t be so pushy when we were just coming in to see what the process was like. When will I get my deposit back!?Here’s a picture of the $1000 deposit we put down that was supposed to be REFUNDABLE!
The staff seemed nice but the second i asked to do the excavation on my own land to save on the expenses of the process and was ignored. Told the sales person the amount my wife and I are willing to put down (#14,000) and how much were willing to pay a month. They sent our information to a lender that wants 3,000 dollars more than what were willing to put down, and they want almost $2,000 a month for 276 months with an interest rate of 8.25%. We were approved by the lender for almost 200,000 but in the life of the thats almost 500,000.
My husband and I had decided to check this place out in November, looked at a few of the homes and then decided to put an application in, a gentleman helped us unfortunately I do not remember his name. He was not very helpful, didn’t talk to us about really anything unless we asked the question. Few weeks later we received our package and an approval phone call from the bank. We decided to wait, and if they called we would go from there. By February we still had never received a call from them to even check up or if we wanted to proceed. We decided we would go back in again and talk to someone different. We set up an appointment to meet with Lori. Lori was very nice, sat down with us and went over everything and talked to us about our approval and the different homes, she told us we needed to put down such an amount before we could have someone come to the land to get inspected. So we paid, and once we paid it seemed like nothing mattered anymore we gave money and she stopped communicating. She had told us she would talk to a couple more banks for the house we wanted was over our amount and she would contact within the day. I never heard so called a few days later and she pretty much didn’t remember who I was told me I needed to get the approval, pay the deposit and have the lady come look at property. And I explained that we had done all this already. And she said oh yes I was going to check on these banks. Which clearly she had not done yet. And I asked could we still get a home in the amount we was approved for if these banks do not decide to do more and she said she could. She then again said okay I will work on getting ahold of the banks and I said well we already have the approval, did deposit so can’t we still have the lady come check the land since you said you can still do a home regardless ( no one ever did call or come check the land) more days pass and still never heard from her, called and left messages for her to return our calls, never returned. Finally we decided this is ridiculous, we are done. Finally called 3 times in a day leaving messages for her return, nothing until my last phone call she FINALLY took it. She still had not checked with banks - then finally said it wouldn’t work to do any homes, no banks would go higher, but was checking at that moment with the banks. We decided to cancel everything and ask for our refund. We was told 3 days we would receive, called multiple times to find out where our refund was, we was told 3 days, then told 7 days, then told 14 days. 3 weeks later my husband received a call that the check was at their office. All said and done. I’m very happy that this DID NOT happen!!! I can only imagine what would happen further down!!!
Called for assistance with my mobile home, not to purchase a new one. The receptionist that answered the phone never hesitated to assist me to find the person to help with my situation.. Great person.
Not exactly what I wanted to hear
Great service and very nice homes
Have not bought a home from them yet, however, I had a GREAT experience touring the property today. We were able to tour all available homes on the lots at our own pace without the pressure of a pushy salesperson . Robert, our salesman was very friendly, relaxed, and easy to talk to. I had never considered purchasing a manufactured home before, but they look so nice on the inside I just might purchase one.
They have some beautiful mobile homes. We went through a 2 bedroom, 2 bath 2 car garage. I couldnt believe how spacious they were. Even the single wide had 2 bedroom, 2 bath wasnt bad. Very nice man explained how they set it up.
Friendly staff, unlike Rona homes is Pataskala. Had a decent amount of homes to view and a great variety. I love the the price is listed.
John is very professional and he offers honest solutions.
Bought home out right. Sales person was awful with being help and kindness. Everything is supposed to be under one year warranty i have contacted them several times for things no one comes out for service or returns my calls.Since i signed off on home before critiquing every little thing there are many things they will not fix. (Even though home is completely paid for).Took almost four months to receive title.
I had a real good experience with clayton homes in marion Ohio all the salesmen were very good to work with . I was on a real short timeline and they work with me to get me in on my time line thank you for all your help.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND CLAYTON HOMES!!! I bought a brand new home from them 4 years ago and there have been multiple problems. I was really upset when I needed to replace the roof, which is unusual for a home only 4 years old, and was told by several roofing companies that my roof had not been put on properly by Clayton Homes! Also, the staff at the Marion, Ohio office are very rude and inconsiderate. I have reported Clayton Homes to the BBB and Consumer Affairs. I’m trying to tell everyone I know about the nightmare I am experiencing living in one of their homes. Save yourself a lot of stress and do NOT buy a Clayton home!
Great staff!
Have rated before. Wish I could give 0 stars or even a negative 4. My house begin to fall apart immediately here I am three years into my warranty and they’re already trying to send me off to my extended insurance to make a claim They do not disclose that you have to go through arbitration litigation to get anything back out of them especially if your having a problem with their company they do not do everything that they promised they’re going to do I’m still waiting on a sidewalk they never replaced my electric pole that I paid for I now have a pool that is leaning into my driveway that must be replaced before it falls and I have no electric to my home I have water damage my home is unlevel after they’ve already came back and tried to level it to her three times it’s a disaster do not waste your time or your money with this company they will screw you over in a heartbeat once they get their money you mean nothing to them
Loved visiting and seeking options.Been workin with Lori for a few weeks! Lori knows her stuff and is always pleasant to chat with
Would not recommend using this company. We did get approved for financing but the payment kept going up up up! Didnt feel comfortable going through with the deal without knowing what we were going to have to pay. Communication is lacking big time. Did not have a good experience and was out $1,100.00 when all was said and done. Win some you lose some. Learned my lesson here. Becareful people!
I was able to find a home, get quick approval and on my second month in my new home and I couldnt be happier. I traded in my old home that was becoming my nightmare. Thank you Lori and Heather!
I was approved for the Doublewide I was interested in, but I only know that because I was contacted by the lender. I thought the payments were a bit too high for that price range so Laurie at Clayton Homes in Marion, was supposed to call me back. As a matter of fact, I left many phone calls and messages before I found out I was approved but she would never call me back. You have a buyer who is approved for a home and you’re still not making contact? That’s nearly a guaranteed sale so they are apparently too busy to even go after a sure thing. If you want to have to chase down someone to help you, go to Clayton Homes. I’ll use a real lender and a real estate agent because it’s just not worth leaving messages constantly, and hearing crickets. Oh and Clayton Homes, don’t even bother replying to this review saying you’d be happy to help me If I just give you a call, now that I’ve left a review. That ship has sailed and you’ve already lost my business.
Nice homes, but to charge half the price of the house to pour a basement was pretty surprising.
Had a very Good Experience with Clayton Homes. Salesman Zach was very Thorough with his job and explaining the process in which would be taken in our purchase of a home...Thanks again for your time!!!
Looking nicer each day it gets a new home in it I just might apply
Been there 2 times first guy was very informative, 2nd time guy treated us like we were wasting his time also have emailed 2 different people about 2 different homes and no reply from 1 and the 2nd said she would look into them.... that was a couple of weeks ago..... no word yet. I guess we will go elsewhere.
Place is a joke! They delivered my brand new mobile home with hail damage. Because there was a storm the night before so instead of repairing it they delivered it with the siding all damaged and windows and doors. They came out and replaced the siding and did a piss poor job the siding is all wavy and uneven. Would STAY AWAY from this place!
R. Hill lied to us for months and said house was made and at their lot and would be put on our property this week over and over. Drove 1.5 hours to meet contractor at property and he did not show. Took R. Hill months to get info to bank on house for a preaproved loan. Bank kept telling us all they needed was info from him...Nothing was ever done to our land after working with your people for 7 months. At least we got our money back. But not the expence of us living in a hotel and now starting over with a new builder who has done more in the 1 week we have spoke to him than R. Hill did in the first 4 months wth him
I canT believe the anount of display models they have, must have been 30 or so. Super nice sales staff, the manager actually made me and my wife a cup of hot cocoa.
