Great sporting goods store. Literally everything and anything you would need for camping, hunting, fishing, clothing and much more. The store is extremely clean and tidy. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
Got a great deal on a tent. However, when checking out, I received the most aggressive and consistent sales pitching I have ever experienced at a retail store. I am sure this is in line with store policy, however, after saying no 5 times to joining their rewards club (which she was equally as persistent about with the customers before me), I was badgered about it even after paying. This was a major turn off towards shopping here in the future.
This store is an awesome asset to the Albany area. They have the best selection of outdoor products and others you would not expect for the area. The associates are very knowledgeable about the items they sell and are very helpful. I have had to order shoes because they did not have what I wanted in store. The associate I worked with quickly found the shoes online and had them ordered for me to pick up less than a week later.
Ive been in this store a few times and the service was great! I recently went into the store to find my husband a Christmas present and the staff was tremendously helpful and patient. I had an idea of what I wanted to get him for Christmas, but Im not as familiar with hunting and fishing supplies like my husband is. The staff at Gander Mountain helped me find the perfect gift for him! He ended up loving his present! I recommend this store for everyone, even for those who arent as familiar with outdoor sporting goods.
Nice floor plan for casual shopping.Large gun selectionCamping suppliesReally like cooking sectoon. Great variety of dry mixes to make your own sausages.Clothing for all the family .Fishing, duck hunting supplies, gifts, shoes, boots, hiking, jogging, sandalsGreat service and very clean restrooms$$-$$$$
All the workers were helpful when my husband and i had to get some things for pike fishing. You could tell the worker had experience, and thats appreciated by all, as well as, they had a pretty great selection of things
Very friendly staff, that offer useful help and make sure you always find what you need. Great place to find everything ourdoors. Definitely more targeted to the area, which is a good thing. Little tired of the sales pitch for the good sam membership. But worth the listen to be able to shop in the store.
Everyone I spoke with today, at the Albany, GA Gander Mountain was knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. I think it is an awful shame that Camping World apparently has no better business sense than to restock this great store and keep these valuable employees employed! I spent almost $1,000.00 today at this store. I wont spend a dime with Camping World if they, as I have been told today, close down this Albany store. And I will encourage others to do the same.
BAD EXPERIENCE!!!! MANAGER BOB!I went into this store only hours ago and was greeted by a storewide clearance sign so i was eager to view what it entailed. Upon searching the clothing department I found just what I was looking for, a waterfowl jacket for the coming season, several of them were hung together on several racks all grouped in the same area. CLEARLY MARKED for 99.00$ on sale with no other jackets around, with matching pants for 89.00$, upon further investigation the matching names of the jacket in question and the 99.00$ SALE sign lead me to believe, as any competent human being would, the jacket was on sale. When checking out I was told, to my surprise the jacket was 150.00$, not even close to the sale price of 99.00$! After bickering with the cashier Kyle his manager who never showed up refused to honor the sale price and claimed it was for a different garment!! The manager BOB refused to even give me a reduced price for something that was CLEARLY HIS MISTAKE! The employees then proceeded to remove the SALE sign and offered no resolution.THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE WAY TO EXTORT MONEY FROM PEOPLE WHO WILL GIVE IN TO PRICE FIXING AT THE REGISTER!!I DEMAND SOME KIND OF RESOLUTION!!If given the opportunity I will purchase the jacket (guide series, weather proof H2O parka) and revise my review accordingly!Do not give in to price fixing!!!!
New look and fully stocked. Great deal on the good Sam club. I used the knife sharpening. It took about 5 minutes and had 2 razor sharp knives
Definitely a one stop shop for the various hunting, fishing and general equipment for outdoor activities you could need. Weve been needing a store like this that is able to cater to those needs for a while. The store is well organized with employees ready and available to lend a hand from the beginner to the experts and the intermediates like me in the middle. its a great store and even better experience.
Good prices if you are a club member. And a better gun selection than then old gander mountain. Would like to see more of a revolver selection.
Ive bought both guns I own from here. Always have been promptly helped by employees when I had questions. Sad to see this place go.
I like this place better than when it was gander mountain. Seems like they have a better variety of out doors equipment.
The store is huge and its nice to window shop, but the prices are simply too high for anything thats good or name brand. There are definitely deals to be had, but you have to dig through a lot of items to find the good stuff. So many items on clearance that are 10% cheaper online.
Dan Webb is an absolute staple of your Marquette store. He makes every customer that he comes in contact with feel like they truly matter. Dan is well versed in many facets of the outdoors, especially in the U.P.. He is more valuable to your store than gold and hopefully he gets compensated accordingly. Thanks Dan! I am sure that I will be seeing you soon!
Beautiful store and well stocked, friendly and educated staff.prices are high, real high. you better bring a bucket of money if you shop here.what a shame, cause they have everything you need in the outdoors.
Went in and got a lot of information from Boyd back in Guns/Hunting department. He got me what it was I needed and was very attentive to me while I was there. The entire team working back there was great, made me feel comfortable, had me laughing and smiling as well. So a Thank You to Boyd, Eric, Todd, and Tim (for double checking all information at the end), you guys were great!
Three different occasions being in this store and not one gun counter associate even acknowledges I was standing there. Was trying to purchase a pistol valued at 1299.99 and a laser for my father, but I guess they dont need the business.
I went in here to find an orange hat for fall work. I found one. They have a nice store here.
Store is excellent and very clean. Staff is helpful and if they dont know the answer they will gladly look it up for you.
Nice layout and good display. Prices are reasonable. A wide variety of guns and ammo in addition to other products for wide ranging outdoor activities.
This is a great place for hunting, fishing, and camping. The firearms (which is kinda like my candy store lol) has a great selection. They match the manufacturer warranty and they add a year to it, and give you a free cleaning too. They have really informative workers who definitely know what they are talking about. The workers are friendly as well. I have bought from here numerous times and will again in the future.
Visited this store today, mainly out of curiosity and influenced by their $10.00 off coupon I received in the mail. Thought it would be a good time to get my fishing license also. What a joke! NO fishing licences available. And throw-out the $10.00 off anything except firearms and marine electronics coupon. It can only be used if you join the club at a cost of $27.00 per year. Once and done for me.
Good Sam membership is a must. Love all the Magpul gear. Nice to not be paying Wally World ammo prices anymore.
I understand that the store may be closing in the very near future but, if you choose to put on the uniform and name badge of Gander Mountain and punch the time clock, therefore receiving money from someone for your time spent at Gander Mountain being Gainfully Employed, then you need to do your job! Quit avoiding customers who are looking for help with something! Lose your pissy attitude if youre asked for anything more than a simple, yes or no answer to a question! Dont make it so obvious that you hate being there! You should be thankful the company owner doesnt have you arrested and locked up! Hell, all youre doing is basically stealing money from the company each and every time you hit that clock and each and every time you receive a paycheck because youre definitely not working and earning the money they are paying you for simply being there. Theres plenty of others who would gladly take your place in a heartbeat just to have an opportunity to work and earn some money. It makes them feel like they done their part and it gives them a little bit of self confidence. Unlike you, who couldnt care less about this. If youre this unhappy with your job, please stay home. Id rather not see you or your bad attitude because you kinda ruins everyones day being this way. I believe you would be better off and Im sure future customers will be if you would just, Gander off away from the store and be by yourself! Do some self reflection exercises or something like that. Because what youre doing now just aint working for ya!
The only knowledgeable employee is Dan in the fishing department. 5 stars for him because he is always friendly and goes out of his way to help you. Other than that they have problems keeping popular items in stock, which the employees attribute to corporate ignorance. They claim they have no control over their inventory and stock what Gander Corporate sends them. Shop their website and save yourself the disappointment. I prefer to throw my business to the smaller outdoor stores around the area. Limited selection, but theyre willing to carry items you like if you recommend them, and they usually have the better reports.
The one I went to was in Indiana and has since closed . Cabelas and Bass pro shop have way better prices .
The Gander Mtn in Marquette is where you can find just about anything for outdoor rec in Marquette. The service is always good and knowledgeable and tries to help get the right product, not always the most expensive. The prices are good and competitive as well.
More expensive than Walmart but definitely has better fresh produce.
There is literally nothing in this store I cant find cheaper anywhere els. Just went to pick up some magpul mbus flip sights and they wanted 97 bucks for them. I immediately left and ordered them online for 60 dollars with tax included and free shipping. Gander raises all item prices roughly 5 to 10 percent compared to competitors then try to sell you the right to not be ripped off in the form of good sam club membership. Walmart sells ammo for up to 3$ cheaper and online is giving it away compared to them. Im shocked there are so many suckers in the comment section.
Fun store to visit if youre into the outdoors. Amazing selection. Even had some .22 LR cartridges!
Good place to shop for sporting goods. Helpful and patient staff. A little pricy, but I shop here often.
Awesome as you would expect at a gander mountain. Professional, knowledgeable and friendly staff at the gun counter. These guys are awesome.
Generally knowledgeable staff, prices are on the high side versus other stores such as Dunhams or Fin Feather Fur. I do like this store, so when Cabelas comes to town I hope they will become competitive.Their ammo policy is fine, every store that sells ammo wont let you return it. Its a safety issue. If you buy ammo, you should be responsible enough to know what youre buying.
A far better store than Gander Mountain. HUGE selection of ammunition and firearms. Lots of quality accessories. And the prices are A LOT lower now!!!
It has any and all outdoor equipment youll ever need.
Knowledgeable Staff and great selection of outdoor products. Ice fishermen, hunters, and firearm enthusiasts will enjoy this place.
Decent price on Columbia jacket. Rude white boy as sales associate. Not surprised they are going out of business with that type of customer service. Good riddance racist!
Since it changed ownership the store has really improved.
Several have posted about high prices... but when you open a store in Valdosta (USAF) and Albany (USMC) HUGE MILITARY AND RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES and dont offer any Military, or Blue Line discounts, well youre kindda doomed to survive. We take care of those who take care of us, and thats a big reason those stores in those locations didnt make it... well along with the fact that Corporate GM went bankrupt!Best of luck to Camping World and prayers for all the fine staff that are loosing their jobs across the country.
Was looking at fishing stuff had multiple workers walk by not even one asked I needed help they just staired at me for 5 minutes. Then at check out I asked if you guys where going out of business again I got the most nastiest comment ever and I bit my lip and walked out not happy!!!!
This store has been steadily going down hill. Stopped in to buy some 327 federal and was told we dont carry wildcat rounds. Really you dont know the difference from factory and wildcats? The elitists attitudes that the workers have there if your not wearing there over priced Gander clothing or Under armour you get brushed of like you cant afford to buy from them and dont deserve there time or get watched like your going to steal the store. Maybe you should get a staff that actually knows what there talking about and loose the gun snob attitude.
Freindly staff. Clean store. Great selection
We love to shop at Bass Pro in Pratville. This store seemed to have all the items we needed in Montgomery. A lot of sale items for everyone in the family. Shoes, clothing, nice outdoor grills cheaper than Home Depot and Lowes. We experienced fast friendly customer service from the time we stepped into the store. There were a lot of other people there so we appreciated being able to purchase everything and get in and out pretty quick.
Great place to go for any outdoor sports needs. Wish they sold more biking-related items
Love this store, hate that it is closing. The staff has always been amazing to deal with. Very knowledgeable
Still getting used to different inventory but good sales * helpful staff
Friendly staff love the giant flag flying out front decent selection of merchandise and ammo
Nice selection of firearms. Well organized friendly store under new management.
The sale associates were friendly and helpful, found exactly what I needed and was in and out.
My husband and I went in to purchase a hand gun and received excellent customer service. Mike was very helpful and knowledgeable.
Good gear selection and very friendly helpful staff.
I was expecting to be able to buy some camping and camper stuff but this place is a joke! Better luck at a garage sale!
I stopped in today with kids. I was only greeted by the cashier and the camping supervisor. I went in to get fishing supplies but I was unable to elicit any help from the fishing associates in the department at the time. I walked by them twice without even a hey how are you today! They were more interested in their cell phones and putting up inventory so I figured it was futile to ask for assistance. This place has severely gone down hill!!!
Had a good sale. Prices on shooting accessories high otherwise. Clothing selection good.
Great if your the outdoors type, everything you could need or use on a camping or hunting trip... And some.
Staff has no knowledge of guns, not sure if its the entire staff but its more than half. I ask about simple things that they are COMPLETELY lost on. Walter Craig is expensive but they have a knowledgeable staff, so I have to go with what works for me.
Friendly staff and products relevant to the area. Prices over all appear to be fairly priced.
Great selection of products. Excellent staff very good service and product knowledge.
Great selection. Good sales. Wish it wasnt closing
I absolutely love this place and wish I could afford to buy everything. Hope it stays!
I wish they werent going out of business. This store is great for the sportsman or even someone that just likes camouflage.
Standard Gander Mountain location. Gun selection is excellent. Almost everything in the store is overpriced compared to Academy and Amazon. Occasionally there will be some bargains on clearance, but usually their clearance prices just put them on par with other places.
Way overpriced on most items. I got my son a old timer knife that was on sale for black Friday. So happens I find that same knife for the same everyday price all over the web. What a rip off!!!
Went in to purchase fishing equipment. Had $150 merchandise in hand and needed a reel. The five on sale were out of stock so asked store manager what he could do for me on a more expensive reel since they were out of others. Told him I would be purchasing over $250 in merchandise and opening a gander credit account. Response was sorry nothing I can do for you and don’t know when any reals will be in. Walked out and emailed corporate with no response two weeks later. Sorry Gander will never walk in your stores again and good luck staying in business that way !
I am very upset with the stores exchange policy for ammo. My husband accidentally grabbed a box of 20 gauge shot gun shells instead of 12. When we went to the store to see if we could exchange them for the correct ones we were informed that they can not do that even though the case was unopened. So now we own 70$ worth of 20 gauge shells.
New store is great. Workers are very helpful..
Many off brand items, not any more economical then anywhere else. Shelves arent full.
I love Gander Mountain, but this Merrillvile Gander has the worlds worst employee. I am shocked that this man named John is allowed to be the way he is. I took the liberty to make sure I see his name tag & remember who he is. Its funny, a good friend of mine was JUST there & they had this guy to do a return for them. He seemed new, but he was kind & curtious. He did not know how to do a return, which was fine, as long as someone knew. A man named John asked his co-worker if he was dumb. Poor kid, no older than 18, probably felt embarrassed. Im not sure if it was the same John, but Im make sure EVERYONE that I know that shops there knows about this. FIRE JOHN.
Friendly staff and helpful, prices high
Excellent selection . Good ad sale prices. Lots of guns, wayyyyy more than any where else. Some of the are a little overpriced
Large selection but extremely over priced...asking retail prices for used firearms and over priced for new ones.. I liked the store but I wont waste money when I can purchase any of their firearms somewhere else for $100-$200 cheaper..$1100 for a S&W M&P15 I only paid $900 at MC Sports...$1600 for trijicon acog Ive seen them for up to $1200...just as an example..
Very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Very large assortment of almost anything in sporting goods.
Husband loves this place. I go for the under amour clothes and shoes. Lol
Prices are decent when factoring in the value of getting the items immediately, most can be found cheaper online but may be of questionable quality. Friendly staff.
Excellent place to buy guns. Great prices.
Gander was very nice, had everything you would need in this type of store. Closed the one in Sheffield, ohio.
Prices were a little high, but very friendly and helpful staff, very well stocked!
Had everything you would need in one place. The prices were good even if you found a a cheaper price they priced matched plus 10 percent extra.
Decent sporting goods store. Benchmade knives too.
GREAT Store! Great people! always find what im looking for there!
Of they were not going out of business I would stop back in.
Great camping gear exercise shoes everything you can think of in sporting
I called twice today to ask if they had a product in stock. Two time I was put on hold for 10+ minutes with no end in sight. I dont have the time in my day to be on hold for that long. What I was asking about wasnt a a tough one. Your employees should know their products! Its a good thing Cabelas is coming to town.
Great store with great staff!! They were so helpful and kind.
Huge selection of firearms and ammunition at excellent prices.
Sorry management once again gave it a try under new name hah! Funny still same ole same ole! Way over priced and was out of a sale item and couldn’t discount a like item to keep a happy customer! I’ll go farther to shop or online for that matter!!! #overpricedchinacrap
Pricey but nice to have something other then Walmart sporting goods
They always have what I need
Decent little sporting goods store, has a solid selection of pretty much anything you can want. Their branded apperal is quality.
The staff was very friendly, but after spending $350, my husband was packing for his trip to the French River in Canada that he is leaving on tomorrow morning at 6am and discovered the cashier did not give him back his 3 reels that he brought in to be spooled. The guy who spooled them put them up at the front register. She gave us back the bag with the empty boxes of line, but not the actual reels. We had numerous bags so we did not discover they were missing until 30 minutes after closing. I tried calling and they have an option for after hours assistance but no one answered it. I even drove up there but they bars were down on the store. He will have to buy new reels somewhere on the drive to Canada now. The group will not delay for 3 hours until the store opens as it is a 10-11 hour drive. If you dont trust your customers enough to carry their own spooled reels to the front of the store for check-out then your cashiers need to make sure that they give them to the customer. Disasterous start to what is a much needed vacation for my husband.
It sucked see why going out of business. And we still have all inventory. Dont waste your time.
Every time i go in I get rude service. Shop elsewhere, like local shops that have a better selection anyways.
A good place to find things that I cant find in my area
Love the gun section they offer along with the fishing gear! The go to place for outdoor activities
Super friendly and helpful staff. They have just about anything you are looking for.
Excellent deals during the 15% off storewide sale, got a pelican catch kayak(799.99),paddle(69.99), and an adult store brand life jacket and youth life jacket all for $843.48, you cant beat that anywhere, especially just the kayak by itself! It was $50 more than other stores but with the sale I came out on top. Thanks Gander mtn! Other than the fishing crate kits being outrageously overpriced, I would still recommend the outdoorsman to shop here! Now if you would excuse me, I think its time to get it in the water and snatch some lips!
