Strange dichotomy here. Have heard lots of horror stories from past and present employees about this establishments poor treatment of staff and kitchen practices. Employees take no pride in their jobs, and treat customers horribly, and rewarded for that. Hot bar is greasy, seafood staff are miserable, everyone who works here seems to hate their jobs. Try Super One the staff their are exceptionally friendly and they offer a much better product. Have watched this place deteriorate over the years into a sad wasteland, health is not a part of the practices of this store, chasing profits, but still in debt as a business, maybe try and treat people better and people wouldn’t have to travel out of town to get their organic products like so many in this community do.

I was in Marquette camping and heard locals at 2 different places talking about food from the co-op (specifically a walnut salad), so we had to check it out. The prepared food section is heavenly. The famed walnut salad lived up to the hype but I especially loved the kamut and cranberry salad. All the hot foods available by the pound were incredible, the Greek meatballs are the best meatballs I have ever had. Great cakes for dessert too. This was the perfect place to stock up on healthier options for camping, and this place alone makes me want to come back to Marquette again and again.

Great Co-Op. Super good service. Jack is a friendly cashier here. Cereal is above average, as well as some other items. Yogurt, beer, and loose oats have fantastic prices! Would like some of the loose beans to have coffee roast dates, however the coffee from Velodrome is roast date labelled in bag form. Overall a really good experience, except the person pushing me to wear a mask in order to come into the store. I understand, however it kind of diminished what was a great experience.

Edit: As of when I left my review, masks were only recommended, NOT required. Unless it has been made mandatory since, claiming that masks are required is a lie. Its clear the co-op has encouraged a customer base resistant to masking and basic health measures.Original (still true):Has a decent selection of things; but most brands and products they carry can be found elsewhere (including at other local businesses) for significantly less cost. Expensive has become an understatement, while the selection has suffered for it.Despite shopping here for over two decades, I give up. Its simply not worth it with the unnecessary risk to health in such a small space and the weird bigotry of the staff. Why bother?

Awesome deli! Chickpea spread is better than mine. I dont say that easily because I always like my stuff better. 😁 Make sure to get a Honey Mammas lavender rose chocolate bar. Its easy to spend money on junk food but their food is nourishing and more satisfying as a result. Well worth it!

Asked person working in the deli for half a piece of fresh salmon, sense most of the one side of the fish was fat and discolored. The man proceeded to roll his eyes at me and told me he would cut the rotten piece off, but I would have to pay for the whole filet. Really? Won’t be back.

A little spendy but a very nice, local store. Its the kind of place a person feels healthier just going into. The deli food looks delicious.

I have been going to Marquette food co-op for over five years. Always friendly staff, fresh produce, and a great selection of organic, vegan, and local foods. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Very clean and fresh, well kept store. They have a section where you can purchase organic house made items that are delicious. Also was able to grab some locally handmade soap and jam! So worth the trip inside!

I can always count on the food coop to be well stocked, clean and inviting. The staff are friendly and they have the best couscous salad!

Marquette co-op is a grate place to go for unique food and health items but also everyday staples. They try and cater to locally produced foods. They also have a large selection of gluten free and vegetarian items. They have a meat and deli counter also. Staff is very friendly. I am a member but you dont have to be to shop there.

Fantastic selection including many products you cant find elsewhere in town alongside the staples everyone carries. Somehow the Jilberts cheese is cheaper here than at another major store in town, which keeps me coming back for all my basic needs!

Excellent selection of food, I love how they have everything marked with red tags that is gluten free.

Really cant stress enough how much I love this place. We checked it out while we were passing through Marquette, and all of the vegan options were so exciting for me (especially in a part of the state where they are not easy to find).We purchased snacks and some food to bring back home and try, along with the vegan breakfast Sammy. I love the bulk section, and so wish I lived closer.

I love the food they make. I get good deals the store is always clean.. Prices can be an issue if your on a small budget. But as a mother of 5 mostly adult children know that an organic grown Apple fills them up. And a chem treated one keeps them eating.. It saves to be healthy in choices where you can.

Found Thimbleberry jam here and was very happy! Everything else is really nice.

You can’t even begin to believe the true quality of product that exists here. I love every thing about this place. From the plentiful gluten free options to the fresh made sandwiches to order. They offer an abundant bulk food section along with a great assortment of organic alcoholic beverages. Does not disappoint!

My favorite grocery store ever! I could spend hours in here. They have wonderful healthy, alternative, and local options. I especially appreciate the bulk options to fill your own containers with shampoo, soap, etc. Quality stuff and a great ambience.

And I appreciate the lengths the staff here goes to to give assistance/ help customers with their shopping experience,from having designated hours for those whose health makes them vulnerable to curbside delivered for pick-up to special orders and especially to individualized assistance in the store. Special shout outs to Rachelle, Shelly,Tyler and all the cashiers and the switch hitters at the special order counter; Eric,Christine, Kelsey, Megan and a couple people whose names I cant remember right now.I also am glad to see diversity so that someday we dont have to think about diversity. One of my favorite places to shop

A beautiful grocery store fully packed with high quality, organic foods. Plenty of bulk items available, all natural soaps, locally made products, and much more. Even a recycling area for batteries. Every time I stop in the Marquette area, the Co-op is a must stop location for me. I will admit, the prices compared to other stores in the area are very expensive. Some products I find for half the price if I shopped at a store a few minutes away. Overall though, an incredible atmosphere to be in, I recommend.

Has some stuff but not what I was expecting from a co-op

I absolutely love this place!

A great selection of everything organic, vegan, locally grown, gluten free etc. They have a huge bulk food section with tons of grains, beans, rice, nuts, dried fruits, spices, and herbs. Lots of produce as well as shelf foods such as cans, jars, cereals, pastas, etc. I noticed this co-op doesnt have an actual cafe like some do, but it does have a hot food and salad bar, as well as pastries and hot coffee.

Ive been involved with the co-op since autumn 1882, when for a time, I was the only one operating it. One full day a week. I checked out ingredients, made bread in the early morning and sold it to neighborhood customers the following week. Now, elderly disabled and not a member, I still buy 35 - 45 % of my food there. Joys galore for the gourmet, the good food diet folks, and even the poor can afford much of it. Serious bang for the top quality food buck.

My favorite place to shop in Marquette. Their homemade sausages are the best. Try the chorizo- it’s my all-time favorite for breakfast burritos. Exceptional selection of locally brewed beers and local honey and maple syrup. Very good sandwiches and deli products. Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend.

The co-op has a decent selection of quality foods. There are very good prepared foods that you can take to go or eat in a small seating area. While you can get most things here, it does not entirely replace a traditional supermarket. There are some items that you dont need the upscale quality of the co-op and on some items the selection is limited. But it is still a great market.

Much larger than any other food co-op Ive been in. Interesting selection of produce, with some intriguingly unusual items. Very good labeling of origins and ingredients. Great bulk section. Prices are excellent on some items, frighteningly high on others. Fresh fish is not kept under ice, as it should be. Local meats look gorgeous. Very easy to become an owner with their time payment plan. You dont have to be an owner to shop there. Interesting looking cooking classes, very active in the community.

This is a great store. They have all the healthy food options of Whole Foods and Trader Joes without the large corporate baggage. The store is the perfect size and has a very warm look and feel. It feels like you are shopping at your friends moms store - it feels good!

The Hot Bar is the best grab and go option in town! Lots of great healthy options that are both sustainable and environmentally crafted. If youre looking for a Sunday newspaper - they carry the NY Times on Sunday mornings - right at the Customer Service desk!

Love their bulk section so I can bring my own jars and purchase organic foods, soap, shampoo, etc., without plastic packaging. (Better for our health and better for the planet.) Their jalapeno-cheddar sausages from the meat department are delicious, and their salad bar/hot bar is the best in town, made with organic food, locally grown whenever possible. I do wish theyd expand their seating area and add a coffee counter, but surely that will come.

Its a great experience going there. Its more than just buying great food. Staff is helpful and friendly, and you always run into people you know from town. The hot bar is always extraordinary, and the products are worth going there.

OMG AMAZING!!! In love with this co-op grocery store. All are welcome, no membership required. Beyond amazing selection of food. The soup options are delicious. Vegetarian options!! Fabulous deli sandwiches. Reasonable prices. Bulk items too. Dried mangoes are divine. Loved egg salad sandwich, tomato bisque, vegetarian chili, curried chickpea sandwich and cold salads. Yummy!!! Great place for lunch honestly, you can get a really nice salad for pretty cheap, same with deli portions. They do good things for their staff and it shows. Spices can be bought in bulk for cheap as well, but I could never grocery shop regularly here. Just out of my every day grocery price range.

I first joined in the early 80s when it was small and difficult to park. The evolution has been amazing! Now in its 3rd location it is larger and can offer SO much more!! Friendly, knowledgeable staff. LOVE it!!

This is the best place in the UP to buy groceries...organic, unusual, bulk, gluten free, fresh local sourced meats, fair trade, homemade food and all around groceries. The staff is helpful and always wonderful. I am from Florida and wish I had a market like this near me. GREAT PLACE!!!

This place is all organic/health type food. They had a lot of vegetarian options / bulk nuts and grains. Personally I would stop here for organic, glass-bottled milk but couldnt afford to buy all of my groceries here. If youre looking for non-organic foods, youll need to shop somewhere else. There is an adorable little deli inside as well if youre looking to grab a quick, healthy bite!

We’re lucky to have a store like this in Marquette! They have a very large variety of quality healthy food options as well as foods that cater to dietary preferences or restrictions. The deli is also great- and my favorite place to ‘eat out’ (due to diet!). If a clean, welcoming storefront full of the best foods and beautiful produce isnt enough- the staff at the co-op could win anyone over. Go there, you wont be dissapointed.

We were so excited to discover this place. Great produce, locally baked bread, vegan/vegetarian options, cheese shop and fish in addition to other alternative grocery selections - this place is an oasis. If youre from out of town check them out. They helped make our camping trip even better.
