Pony tail guy was great and had a great attitude. He was very polite and kind. I will always go to this location first for my car parts.
I ordered a $10 fiberglass mesh online for curbside pickup because I was feeling sick and was waiting to get a COVID test. When I pulled in and called the store, the owner said “Everyone’s got COVID. It’s here on the counter when you want to come in and get it.”😨 I told him I’m NOT coming in to get it and the website said they had curbside pickup. He said he’d come out to get it but he’d have to photocopy my license because they’ve “been ripped off before.” Owner doesn’t understand how a pandemic spreads or just doesn’t care - I’m not handing him anything! There is no requirement on the website other than to show a valid drivers license OR a confirmation email. Period! He told me it was that or he cancels my order. “Cancel” it is!Drove down the street to O’Reillys and Seth was more than happy to bring that out to me! And Robert at Advance Auto Parts also brought my other order out to me!!!TL;DR Owner doesn’t care about preventing the spread of Covid. There are other nearby car parts stores that deserve your business.
All the men there are very knowledgeable I have known a few of them for quite some time If they dont have the part theyll find you the part Couldnt get much better for an auto part store
I had some hard to fine parts for my car Dave found them got them within a few hours. The second time I had to go there I had bought a defective part from autozone my car was in pieces had no way there to get it swapped out he got me a ride there and back he has won my business over for life!!! Highly recommended!!!!
Man at the counter with glasses on 4/19/21 made an error and cancelled my order by his own admission. His didnt apologize for his error but instead suggested I order the item online again. When I told him the order had a coupon he stated that they cant honor a coupon for an order at the counter. He then said I can call and ask the company for the money they owe me. On top of that the gentleman at the door and the man with glasses behind the counter are not following St. Louis Counties COVID-19 Mask mandate. I wont ever come to this location again. Hope that corporate sees how this location is hurting the company image.
The guys in here are friendly and helpful.
David was extremely rude when I returned my battery for the core charge. The receipt from Handy’s was a different dollar amount than that of what was charged to me through Advance Auto website. I asked a simple question about it and David proceeded to tell me that I eliminated him from the transaction when ordering on a website. He went further to tell me that he doesn’t do my job so I shouldn’t do his. I informed him that I was on duty at the fire house when my wife’s battery died on her and she was out on the road. I did what I had to do and found the battery. Never again will I shop at this car quest and definitely do not recommend anyone else shop here.
I deal with all the gentlemen at Handy, its has that hometown feel and they almost always have the parts you need. They are awesome with helping you and go above and beyond to make sure when you leave, you understand what you bought and if you didnt know about the part. They will help you understand that as well. Huge thumbs up for me
The guy in the ponytail strikes again...My wife went in to purchase a battery for her 2016 Fiesta and had everything written down regarding the model number and info for the battery as well as all the vehicle info. The only reason she didnt just order online and pick it up was batteries have a core charge and she didnt want to mess with paying it online, then having to get it credited when she got to the store, etc. Also, she had an additional battery that she wanted to use the battery recycling service that the store claims to offer. When she arrived ponytail guy started in with telling her she couldnt just buy a battery and get a core charge credit and that she had to go out to her car and place an online order and then come back in -- Which she wasnt going to do. He also was annoyed by the battery she wanted to recycle... stating I *guess* I can take it.He finally started to relent and was going to allow her to actually order auto parts at, you know, an auto parts store...when he started to look at the info she had prepared, first he b*tched that he couldnt read it and then said, Honey, is this for you?She replied that it was for her but that she sure as hell wasnt spending any money for it there. So, she went down the street to OReillys and bought the battery there with no issues whatsoever, the right battery was provided, the core charge was credited, and not only did they take the extra battery through their battery recycling service, apparently when you recycle a battery with them they give a $10 store credit...which the clerk also applied to the purchase of the new battery. My wife may not be a car guru, but she knows the basics and can have an intelligent conversation with people who are willing to have an intelligent conversation on the topic. In fact, many times at our regular car repair shop, she is the one talking to the folks, especially if it is a car she drives regularly because she is the one that knows *that* car best.Im very disappointed in this CarQuest as it had been my goto location for parts and anything really automotive for probably 10 years and until this incident both of us had always been treated like gold by the employees and the place always had that old school feel of being helpful, knowledgeable, and making sure the customer gets what they need by asking good questions and respectfully pointing out things the average person might not always know. Apparently, theres at least 5 other negative reviews about this guy, so I dont know if hes a relatively new employee or if we have just been lucky not to encounter him until now.Either way, it sounds like a systematic issue with this employee...one that management has had enough feedback on to do something about it were they inclined. Since they are not, well be moving on. Just have no use for the unfortunate part of old school auto culture that includes treating women like sh*t...which seems to be the only old school this guy brings to the table.
Most knowledgeable parts guys and machinist around
Went here to get some ball joints pressed and was surprised that it was Carquest
Great customer service love this place they have everything I needed thank you Chad for your great customer service
Employees dont wear masks. Visit at own risk
Employees refused to wear masks, even after asking them. I had to go to a different store to get what I wanted. Wont go back unless they start to wear masks.
IF YOU NEED UATOMOTIVE PARTS AND INFORMATION ON DIAGNOSING OR REPAIRING YOUR VEHICLE, THIS SHOULD BE YOUR FIRST AND LAST STOP. THESE GUYS KNOW CARS, PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
These guys actually know their parts. A dying breed in the industry.
Great service great people.
This place is more like an old school auto parts place, which is great in my opinion. There arent many places left that you can show a picture of an oddball part from an unsupported vehicle and they will search for it in an actual paper catalog. My service was friendly and Id gladly come back.
I’m the shop manager for a large landscaping and snow removal company with 85+ vehicles, a wide range of dump/plow trucks, trailers, heavy machinery and much more. I have come accustomed to ordering 90% of the parts I use on a daily basis from this store. The counter guys make it their duty to find me exactly what parts I need in a timely fashion THE VERY FIRST TIME with quality parts as they know “time is money” in both businesses. Highly recommend this independently owned company not only for the weekend mechanic but for large companies as well. Having an account with this company makes my daily tasks much smoother.
Guys know what they are doing and want you to have the right stuff. Guy with the ponytail took good care of me. Go here not autozone
The best of the best, these guys here have been doing this a long time and will do anything to help you anytime
If you work on your own vehicles this is the best auto parts store in town. Located in Maryland heights mo. They sell good parts and can help you with advice. They also have a ton of specialty tools. I have been going here for years.
Ponytail guy is very rude and refuses to help customers with legitimate questions. I wouldn’t be surprised if the business closed it will be because of him. Go to the Advance Auto across the street and get real help from good people.
What an amazing store! They are so helpful- turned my car that wouldnt start into a gem! Very helpful and informative. These guys know what theyre doing! I will definitely be back and so will my friends.
The long hair guy seems unprofessional. I was a paying customer and he ran me off cause my employer had a disagreement with him long before I even worked there.....
Extremely terrible customer service.. I was returning my water pump and silicone that I never used at all and was all brand new sealed in the box and the ponytail guy kept asking me why I was wanting to return it... I wanted to return it because I ended up not needing to do the water pump and just replaced my thermostat. He gave me an extreme attitude and claimed I was careless with my stuff because he saw a small bend in the silicone that was inside the box and claimed I did it. I bought it new like that and I don’t appreciate being accused of that as a customer. I will be shopping at a new parts start from now on. This place is terrible and I highly recommend you do not shop here.
This is an Advance Auto actually, still known as Carquest but I believe Advance Auto is able to order more or stock more parts? Its a little hard to see but worth it because they have 99% of anything you need & the staff knows what they are talking about, was there to get hoses for a part and asked person helping me if he knew which hose went to which side of part and without looking he said one is bigger so that one will go on the bigger side. He was 100 percent correct! I asked about a generic U-clamp & he opened a catalogue of parts to show me what types they had then when I made my choice he retrieved it in seconds. The store has a lot of Accessories which is great if youre into all that but at the same time that doesnt keep them from stocking huge range of parts specific to your model vehicle & you can check online to see if they have a part in stock too.Used to do a lot of car repairs when I owned older vehicles but newer cars are much harder to fix yourself, however for a small repair or maintenance needs this is THE place to go!!
Needed a window regulator that was being installed for me. Called Carquest, they said they had it. Drove over there, they didnt have it, but the service rep said for only $5 more I could have the motor and regulator together which they did have. I told him as long as I wouldnt pay more for the install, that was fine. He gave me a smart mouth answer, sold me the part, and I left. Took it to my appointment, turned out the part sold to me was not correct, it was for an older make and model vehicle. I took it back to Carquest where I dealt with the same rep. He never apologized, and when I asked him to confirm the part would work on my vehicle, he said, Its just the regulator. The issue was never buying both the motor and the regulator, the issue was it wasnt the right part for my vehicle. And of course, the fact that I had to make another appointment for my vehicle with the installer because of Carquests incompetence.Ive since found that Amazon has a feature which allows you to double check part #s with your vehicles make and model to see if they will work. I checked both part #s with them, and sure enough, the first part sold to me was listed as not compatible with my vehicle. Short story long, Ill either buy on Amazon or go to another parts store.UPDATED: Unbelievably, at the next appointment, I found out that while the part # on the ticket was correct, the rep had given me yet another wrong part. Even worse, it was the same part he gave me before!!! I didnt bother to check the number on the box, which was different than the number on the ticket. The number on the ticket, which I checked with Amazon, was the correct part, but the part # on the box was different and was the same part as that that they had sold me previously. After taking the part back again, they half-halfheartedly apologized and tried to sell me the correct part, but Im done taking my chances. My recommendation is stay far, far away, as they cant even properly cross reference their own part #s.
He refused to match their on website price, plus they arent friendly
Get the right part the first time. David has been doing this along time. Customer satisfaction is his priority.
Very knowledgeable people that work here
Ok
Very knowledgable the guys have helped me out when others couldnt several times
Knowledgeable old school service. Excellent!!
My husband has bought many parts from this store. He bought another today and when he got home, realized it was missing a small part. He took it back to exchange it and the owner became very confrontational. Made the worker return my husbands money and told him to leave. My husband is the kindest, most non aggressive person you would ever meet. This store will not get one more dime of our money and I would advise everyone to take their business elsewhere.
A real auto parts store. More options than the chain stores. They work hard to get what you want.Update, 8/25/21. I love all of the bad reviews about the ponytail guy. I cant wait to give him trouble. If you want good service its easy to avoid the ponytail guy he is the one with the ponytail. They may be gruff, but they know their stuff.OR you can go accross the street where they ask you if your Camaro is a Ford or Chrysler.
The staff at Carquest on Dorsett Road have bent over backwards to assist my wife in getting a replacement turn signal lamp for her car. The example of customer service that they displayed should be the gold standard for their competitors, who are numerous along that stretch of road. We just moved to the area, and they will be our go-to auto parts shop.
Great service great employees reasnable prices
First off I DID spend a lot of money here. I called to ask a simple question on the thread pitch of a bleeder screw so I could figure out the part I needed to order that they didnt carry. So instead of being helpful over a 10 dollar part he got confrontational with me and said he wasnt going to tell me because I was buying from someone else. Again they didnt carry the part. They just lost my business
The best auto parts store Ive ever been to. Extremely helpful and really knowledgeable. They have the best customer service around.
I buy my corvette parts from them. Always above and beyond helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend them!
Poor customer service. Doesnt want to explain correctly to customers what they properly need and the guy has no patients. Refused to help me and basically kicked me out the store. I WILL NOT be giving this location any more of my money or business.
I have bought many parts here for various jobs, every time theyve been very helpful and helped me get the best part even offering advice on tool rentals.
Always a pleasure doing business with these guys. They are always very helpful and very knowledgeable.
If you have a need, they can make it happen 9 times out of 10, and if they can’t they’ll try to help you find who can, whether it’s a competitor or the dealer. Great people.
They have what you need if you cant find it here they dont make it anymoore..
Good customer service knowledgable staff. This is not a chain store but local owned. They can get just about anythung with in a day or too at much higher quality compared to other autoparts stores.
Very knowledgeable and helpful getting parts
They had the part we wanted and helped us with fast, friendly, knowledgeable service.
Guys at the store were helpful in picking right product for my needs
Always great I drive across town to come here
Ponytail guy has horrible customer service. Rather pay more somewhere else than deal with his childish attitude.
Always great care knowledgable staff
They can actually find what you need. They have a good experienced staff.
Been using them since before they were carquest dave is an awesome guy and is always helpful, his staff remains helpful aswell.
Allen wrenches made in China and the price was $14.99 for 8
Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. My dad lives 2 hours away and still prefers to get his parts here.
