Love the helpful staff, atmosphere, and fantastic selection of beautiful yarns, patterns, and accessories! I have also enjoyed their knitting classes!
Great,friendly place
All the employees are very nice to me. They’ve taught me a lot about knitting and crocheting, and sometimes I go there just to work on a project and talk to other people who love to work with yarn. It’s a very welcoming environment!
Love this store. Great yarns. Loving my Berroco socks I bought there. Helped me find a keeper for my circular needles.
Lovely store with tons of yarns and samples to inspire your inner knitting Goddess. Knowledgable and kind staff on the spot to help in anything you can imagine. I was visiting the area for the week, but will be back every time I am back in town.
Absolutely WONDERFUL yarn shop! The owner and all the staff are just fantastic! This shop has an excellent selection of yarns, including high end luxury brands and quality yarn manufacturers! They also have a good selection of project bags and nice variety of notions too! The shop atmosphere is always pleasant and you never get the feeling that you are being watched or feel like you are pressured into buying something! The owner and staff remember their customers by name and ask about how they are doing in their own personal lives if they are a frequent customer! My favorite thing is you can just cmon in and browse the new yarns they have for future project that you have in mind. The front table which features a particular type of yarn always is a highlight and always looks so appealing! I live in Hamilton OH and this shop is always worth the trip to make out to Mason! Keep up the awesome work....youre customers do notice! :-)
I am just learning to knit (thanks to YouTube and Craftsy). I stopped in here to see what they have to offer, and specifically to see how friendly they were. Chris greeted me, we talked, she helped me by special ordering a yarn I needed (I bought while out-of-state, and I could have ordered it online). There were several ladies sitting at a table talking and knitting, and before I left, three ladies had come up to the counter (all separately) and struck up a conversation with me (giving their helpful advice to me, a beginner). Because I feel giving business to local shops vs online, I think I have found my shop. Thank you ladies, and thank you Chris for being helpful and professional.
I was unfamiliar with this store and the owner made me feel right at home. When I found yarn that I wished to purchase there was not enough and she went out of her way to order more and to try to get the same lot number which was accomplished.
They have a great selection, all price ranges and yarn types. The shop is well organized and the staff is very friendly and helpful... If I lived in the area, Id be in here all the time!
Its a very organized store with friendly staff. They are reasonably priced. They have a wonderful selection. A great place to go for all your yarn desires.
While visiting my daughter in Kings Mills, last weekend, she asked if I wanted to visit the yarn shop I had read about online that was close to her. So we arrived mid afternoon on Saturday, Aug 11th and ironically, during the annual yarn crawl. The shop was filled with women working on projects, looking for yarn, or just browsing. In the midst of all this, a really nice woman at the counter asked if I needed help and I told her I was just looking....but Ive never walked out of a yarn shop empty handed in my 60 years of knitting and crocheting. I decided that I would knit a tunic type top that was popular last year online and told the woman about the pattern and from that point on, she graciously helped my find the pattern, find yarn and then figured out how much I would need to make this for my 3 yr. old granddaughter. She pointed out a yarn that was on sale and I bought was left on the shelf in the colorway. There was a wonderful selection of yarn in all price ranges as well as knitting needles and other knitting notions. I did not see any crochet items, but that was fine with me as I have more than the average person needs. I think the lady who helped me said her name was Donna, and if not, I apologize. Both she and her partner were warm, courteous and extremely helpful. It is a lovely shop, and I look forward to visiting again in the future. Next time, I will be a little more extravagant, because that is what a LYS is all about...new, exciting, beautiful and in many cases, hand crafted and dyed yarn. Thanks, for a very nice visit and experience. ))
One of the best knit shops in Cincinnati. The owner and staff are always friendly and helpful. Classes are very good with excellent instructors. If I have any knit problems, they are always there to help. If I need a special items, they search the internet, find it and order it for me if they dont already have it in the shop (which they usually do). Finally, if I just want to sit and knit with like minded people (knitters), there is always a seat available. Its my go to place.
Went there for the first time and LOVED IT!! lots of variety and the owner(?) was super nice and helpful. As someone who has had less then stellar experiences at LYSs since i moved to OH it was like a breath of fresh air.
Pretty Woman on Rodeo Drive treatment! I have wanted to visit this store for over a year and while my mother was in town we were so excited to go. Unfortunately, the HORRIBLE lack of any kind of service or even acknowledgement was terribly dissapointing. My mother has MS and uses a walker. It was quickly clear that we werent wanted in the store and we were the only customers. Not a word was spoken to us for 15 minutes past a forced hello and we initiated a thank you after we chose to leave and spend her hard earned retirement money elsewhere! What a terrible shame to have two people in your store ready to spend a significant amount of money and not initiate any kind of salesmanship conversation whatsoever.
Whenever I travel, one of my must-see places is always the LYS. I have to stop in every one I see, since I can never seem to find them near my home! Thankfully though, when picking up medicine for my pet at Yost pharmacy, I noticed Main Street Yarns, right next door! I was absolutely thrilled to find a yarn shop close to home, and I stopped by as soon as I could. The first time I stopped by there was a sale going on with 3 stuffed laundry baskets full of yarn, all heavily discounted and ranging in price and material, and there was a knitting group right next to the sale table! I felt like a kid in a candy store seeing all those gorgeous yarns from all over the world in person, and the knitting group was full of friendly women who, despite not working there, were happy to point out different sections of the store that might have been of interest. At the time I dont think the owners noticed me walk in since I used the street entrance instead of the back entrance (Ive since learned haha), but it wasnt long at all before I was asked what brought me in. The workers were more than happy to ask me what project(s) I was working on, and if there was anything they could help me with.Another thing Id like to mention is the topics discussed in the knitting group and store never make you feel unwelcome, since there is a store policy of promoting hygge, which is the Norwegian word for cosiness. No politics, negativity, or rudeness are allowed, making for a very calming environment. :-)The first time I visited I bought a Churchmouse fingerless mitts pattern, and my plan was to use some handmade yarn I had at home. Well, it turns out it was too chunky, and I didnt have nearly enough of it anyway, so I stopped back in a couple weeks later. While I didnt have the pattern with me since I was just at work, the woman working there at the time was more than happy to help me find the pattern in the stores pattern book! We couldnt find it in the store, so she looked on ravelry and found it. They even had the exact yarn mentioned in the pattern in store, so I bought a gorgeous hank of alpaca/merino yarn for $14. I also thought I had the right needles at home but of course those were already in use, so I bought some handcrafted wooden needles here as well. I was trying to decide between a bamboo set of DPNs and a wooden set, and one of the owners came over to help me choose. Those are now my favourite needles, and I plan to buy more in other sizes soon! The whole experience was very nice, and while I was browsing (I always take a very long time to browse) I was asked a few times if I was finding everything okay, and also if I needed a basket. Overall, I would absolutely recommend yarn lovers to stop by Main Street Yarns, as they wont be disappointed.
My mother and I are visiting from out of state. As an obsessive knitter, I like to visit the local yarn store to pick out yarn for my souvenir project. We made the mistake of choosing this store. We browsed the store for 15 minutes, during which time there was a knitting group around the table, not needing assistance at the time, and two employees not busy with any type of customer service. Certainly not with us, since neither could be bothered to even say hello. And certainly not for lack of opportunity, since my browsing brought me within a few feet of them. Its not a store that one can hide in. We got the hint that our kind was not wanted and left. Good thing the Cincinnati area is not short on local yarn store options.
This is a great place to find your next project or get help on the one you are working on now! A great selection of yarns and accessories and helpful staff.
Super friendly and helpful staff. Nice selection for a small local yarn shop.
When traveling I check out local yarn. Shops and buy sock yarn this shop is nice clean organized and very friendly
Friendliest and most fun yarn store in the greater Cincinnati area with a wide selection of yarn and she will order anything you want!
