Price Gouging? We were ready to buy.May decide not to buy a Genesis based on the way this dealer operates.Positives: dealer has a lot of inventory, the property is clean and the staff polite and friendly. All that said I’ve always believed that sales people will show their true colors in a “sellers” market, which is what we’re in right now.Heavy additional fees added ABOVE MSRP. “Market adjustment”?? Dealer adds which are always problematic are high too. But the market adjustment thing is basically saying they’ll charge more because they think they can. Two other Charlotte metro dealerships DO NOT tack on extra “market value” dollars to increase the price of a vehicle. Those other two dealers also will negotiate not adding (if the car is in transit) typical dealer adds that elevate a price: tinted windows, film on door edges, undercoating, nitrogen or helium in tires. Our sales associate did not know the product well, and continually confused the trims and packages for the vehicle we were interested in.So not a great experience to begin with, and the sales associate didn’t call us with an update on vehicle availability for three days.As a result IF we buy a Genesis it will be from another dealer, instead of one close to home. Will not recommend this dealer to others.*UPDATE* Accuracy in reviews is important if they’re going to do what they’re designed to do…inform others. Toward that end: Charlotte Genesis changed their pricing practices recently. The market adjustment is not seen on many of the vehicles arriving on their lot, and some customers have been able to negotiate waiving the dealer ads, further reducing the out-the-door price. Just be firm and unwilling to accept the first or second “This is the best we can do”.

Terrible customer service at this location. Just because cars are in limited supply and selling off the trucks doesn’t mean you should value customers any less. This is how it felt. It may be fine short term, but good luck in the long term when the chip shortage is over, cars start filling the lot, and those same potential customers never come back.I left the Charlotte location and drove to Genesis in Cary where the experience was a complete 180. Best customer service out of any dealership I visited and 100% worth the extra drive. I ended up placing an order for a GV70 while I was at the Cary location.

This place was awful. I’m looking for a new luxury SUV for myself and the salesperson (Lewis Gobble) was condescending and rude. He asked me if I was the primary decision maker, stated “are you sure… this is a $60,000 car, maybe a hyundai would suit you better?”. I was promised by Ali a test drive but was informed upon arriving I could not drive it because I’m not seriously considering the vehicle (at the time it was my top choice). They lost my business and I will no longer be considering Genesis for my next vehicle.

If you want a non pressure buying experience for a reasonable priced auto, this has to be hands down the best in the Charlotte region. My sales person was honest, up front as professional as they come. Mr Richmond, the best of the best.

I had a great experience working with the people here and would recommend them for anyone looking for a Genesis in Charlotte. Lewis answered all my questions about the car and even showed my wife how to make her way through the tech features. Great Job!

This is my 2nd Genesis. I love the car however Independence Genesis has horrible customer service. I took my previous car to Hyundai Fort Mill, so I do know what is possible. The sales team asked me to download an app to schedule service upon purchase at Independence. After I scheduled service, they told me the App has never worked after I called them to see why they did not show up to pick up my car. The service team never returns phone calls, doesnt give updates on your car. You have to call and leave messages even to get an oil change. The shift to have all service done for Genesis at Independence, Charlotte was a poor management decision. Cliff, the service manager at least today admitted fault. The car is awesome, but it is not worth all the trouble with the service department. BTW the 2020 G80 has 19 inch tires; in one year with very little driving I have had to replace 3 tires and I do not drive that much. My 2017 Genesis had 18 inch tires in which I never had a problem.

I went for a test drive for the GV 80 with my lead time of 3-4 weeks. The sales consultant said that If I have not made a decision, then he doesnt like to add miles. What a rude way to treat customers. If this is the attitude Genesis want to show, Good luck with your business..

Amazing experience today trading my stinger in for a g70 3.3T. Andrew was super helpful and made the deal happen! A lot of dealerships put unnecessary pressure on making a deal and I was given all the time I needed to make sure this deal was right for me. Another thing I really appreciated was that never once was my eligibility or seriousness doubted since I walked in the door. Being 19 years old, most luxury dealerships will not take you seriously. I praise Andrew and the sales team for this! 🙏

Today my car was supposed to be picked up from valet for a normal service. They had been texting me reminders from the same number all along until today. I keep getting a call from a random number that my phone marked as spam and I’m used to getting spam calls everyday so didn’t think anything of it. I then get a text from the original number saying they can’t pick up my car cause I didn’t respond/meet the valet guy. I call back the valet guy to explain the situation and he was super rude on the phone. He was frustrated at me when it’s genesis who caused the confusion. I now can’t schedule an oil change until July 21. My car keeps reminding me I need service done so I can’t wait. This was a ridiculous experience from a luxury brand and after purchasing a $50k car. I will take this review down if I can get my service done within the next week. If I can’t get this situation fixed I will be trading in the car and go to mercedes instead.

I am a owner of a new 2019 Genesis G70 3.3T,In the past week and a half, a new metallic rattling noise began coming from around the turbos. After extensive research on Genesis/Stinger 3.3T forums and talking with reputable motorsports shops that work on the 3.3T engine, the unanimous educated assumption for the noise was a waste gate leak (pretty serious issue). I took my car in for service at this location (April 23, 2021), explained the issue and all the research to justify my educated assumption, and left the car to be serviced. This is where the unacceptable experience at this location and with Genesis begins. Not only was a loaner not offered, but when asked for a loaner Genesis car, I was answered with a sharp response that they did not have any. No one tried to rectify the issue or apologize. Now when you purchase a new Genesis product, all models come with a valet service that promises that your car can be picked up from your home and an equivalent or higher model would be left for you while the service is performed. This was not held up.After a week of being in service, not once did anyone call to inform of the progress or issues they encountered. I had to make the calls personally to ask how my car was and when to expect it to be done, waiting until the next day to hear back. When I did get a call back, I was told that they were going to instead replace the throttle body, despite all the information and research that was shared with them. After a week passed with my car in service and without a loaner, I am called to be informed my vehicle is ready for pick up (April 30, 2021). After getting a ride arrangement, I complete paperwork, get my keys, and go out to my car. This is when I notice my car is the filthiest I have ever seen. The entire car was covered in dirty/dust and pollen, and dirt was caked onto the sidewalls of the tires (implying the car was kept in a dirt lot for a period of time). My car was never washed, cleaned, or vacuumed when being returned to me. After starting the vehicle and replicating the procedures for the metallic noise, I clearly hear the noise is still there, yet more audible and frequent this time around. It is now the end of business day and I cannot take my car back into service, so I take my car home for the time being. On the drive home, I notice I am not holding boost as I should and accelerating from a stop is more sluggish (pointing yet again to a wastegate leak). After getting home and popping open the hood, I notice some white liquid dried to the top of my hood. When I remove the engine cover, a notice this same liquid sprayed all over the left side of my engine, with the spray pattern originating from around the throttle body that was replaced. At this point, I have a new $49K luxury car with under 7,000 that still has the original issue, which has gotten worse since, and a brand new issue with a leaking engine liquid after my car is taken into for service. For everyone reading, this is supposed to be one of the biggest Genesis dealerships on the East coast. If this is what Genesis is about, if they intend to compete with seasoned luxury brands (Lexus, BMW, Audi, etc.), then Genesis is a laughingstock and is nothing as they advertise. Please heed my words and stick with the brands that have made a positive reputation for their vehicles and luxury services. After this appalling experience with a Genesis vehicle, the Genesis dealership and service department, and Genesis as a whole, I would not ever recommend a Genesis to anyone and wish I had went with a different luxury brand.

9-9-21 @ approximately 9 am, went to this dealership to look at GV70 interiors. The salesman insisted he had to copy my drivers license before I could look at anything. This seems like a scam to get my drivers license number.I was not asking to drive a vehicle, only look at the interiors. Not a trustworthy organization.

Service was done well and in a timely fashion. However when you buy Genesis you are told you will have a Genesis experience. That experience doesnt exist. Keffer always does a good job but theres no difference in getting service on my previous Hyundai sonata and now my Genesis. If Genesis wants to be an exclusive brand like lexus, bmw, Mercedes they have to up the service game.

Great Experience Leasing a new Genesis G70 3.3TTest drove the vehicle in late July and loved the styling inside and out as well as the sharp steering and handling. Our Salesman Lewis Gobble was great. Lewis politely and knowledgeably answered questions while on a test drive as well as afterwards despite a very long work day. We really appreciated the friendly (NOT high-pressure) sales experience.During the following weeks of looking for a new vehicle I began to steer away from the G70 due to a relatively tight back seat and small-ish trunk.Fast forward to Labor Day weekend and after visiting 4 dealerships and NOT finding a vehicle for the price I was willing to pay, began to feel that it was just not the right time and I needed to wait. Then late afternoon Aug 31st I received a call from Vishnu of Genesis of Charlotte explaining that he felt we could work out a deal for the price I was willing to pay. After considering a different 2 door car with a much smaller back seat I placed the G70 back on my list. Short story: we went into the dealership late on Saturday, met back up with Lewis and worked out a great deal for the G70.Visited a lot of dealerships through the years. This was one of the best experiences for leasing/purchasing that Ive encountered. If Id NOT been called by Vishnu Id likely still be looking and exploring vehicle options elsewhere. Have to keep pinching myself each time I walk up to this beautiful, absolute ball to drive, Himalayan Gray G70 to make sure Im not dreaming. From sales, both on the phone and at the dealership, straight through financing and delivery, it was a nice experience. Great job Genesis of Charlotte!

UPDATE 04/2021: Car was picked up as promised items were replaced however the engine is still knocking. All they say is No codes are showing up. If you start it in the morning or after being off for several hours it knocks and NO this is not suppose to happen for a new car with only 6k miles on it.UPDATE: Was called within a few hours of this post saying they will be calling me 4/12 or 4/13 to schedule service. Purchased a G80 sport first issue was the windshield was not properly installed which cause a leak and flooded the floor boards with water(took a few weeks but this was taken care of). Next issue is I have called 3 times over a period of a month to schedule service and was told someone will call back. The car has only 6k miles and now the engine is knocking which is not a good sign! Not happy that we cant get the car into being serviced. You cant even take the car in without an appointment!

Absolutely Trash excuse for a Genesis Dealership. Mother In-Law purchase a Vehicle from them LAST WEEK. After bringing it home and taking it for a test drive realized the Vehicle had a terrible brake vibration. After calling within 48 hours of purchasing the Vehicle I was tossed to the way side. This company does not properly look over their vehicles and then promises a Genesis level of look over. I urge you greatly to choose any other dealership to purchase your Genesis from.I have emailed this comapny and begged and pleaded to do this the right way without reviews and badmouthing. I gave them 72 buisness hours to respond to an email. That the Service Manager, Sales Manager and Fixed Operations Manager. Were CCd in. But since I have already purchased the car last week. Its no longer there problem what the looked over during their Genesis Certified Lookover.Buyer Beware: You will be treated like Genesis is a luxury brand anywhere but here. Maybe take them time to drive down to Hickory. To Paramount Genesis. The Genesis I drove past ... To purchase my car... from this dealership. Dont make the same mistake as me.
