Always sad to see a business closing! Especially an iconic department store like this one as a child i can remember looking through the big jcpenny catalogs. But their prices are through the roof even with the 60-75% off they are currently offering

Lot of sales going on now. My husband bought two pairs of dress slacks for $20.00 each. They used to be $80.00 each. A real deal.

The JC pennys closing sale is great but they are only open until May 15 so if youre going to visit do it soon!

Theres some good deals, but theyre starting to run out of inventory. They close permanently within a week.

I bought several sets of bathroom towels. Good quality and excellent selection. Cashier was friendly and efficient. I deducted one star because I had to roam around the store to find a cashier!

I like the clothes that you can find at JCPenneys and I truly like the employees theyre always really helpful. One downside is that I do not like the prices, everything in the store seems overpriced even when they have 25% to 70% off of items. For that reason alone I dont recommend going there.Today, February 13th 2021, I went in there because the store here is closing and everything is 50 to 70% off but when you get inside a lot of its really just 25% and 30% and even then everything is still over $20, those are just the necklaces that are $20. In my picture is a wristlet that I got that was 25% off and it was still $30, and because I bought it at liquidation I cant return it.

The employees in the jewelry department are so awesome.. They were so helpful and all knew the merchandise very well. Great staff members at the Mattoon branch!

Bought an engagement ring here and the woman behind the counter was very helpful and knowledgeable.

Its a shame i dont shop here more often. There was a time when JCPenney was place to find nice clothes and just about everything else.

Kinda disappointed in the store. Barley anything in there only small sizes and employee said there will be no trucks till after the first of the year

Even with going out of business the prices there are outrageous.

Low prices and awesome sales! Dont forget to check for coupons on their website or app. Its a great place to buy plus size, petite, and other types of specialty clothing.

Was looking for the Maidenform bras I always buy. No luck, but I found a Warner that may be even better. Did buy 1, get 1 half off, PLUS an additional 30%, which meant I got them for a little over $20 apiece. Very happy with the experience - and JCP!

Well organized small store. Team members are very nice. Customer service was outstanding.

Charged my husband full price for an item when the cashier told him he got it for half price. She issued a refund instead of making the item half price. When we discovered this on our bank account we went into the store and out of 3 employees, no one knew the correct policy regarding returns. Couldnt even find the phone number for us to call to fix it, and said they couldnt fix it in-store. Poorly-trained employees and overpriced.

The entire store is currently 20% off.

They had a great after xmas sale. I didnt know about a few sales and a worker approached me and told me all the sales they had going. Their employees were very polite and knowledgeable about materials and sales. I will be back again soon.

Very limited selection for boys dress clothing and dress shoes. Also, $50 for a mens dress shorty seems pretty steep to me.

One of the last name stores still in mattoon Illinois. Clean and neatly set up.

The cashier couldnt even do a basic transaction. If I had not been watching, she would have charged me $9 than an item cost even after I pointed it out.

Theyre ok I guess. I went there to buy some jeans but they didnt have a whole lot to choose from & they are very plain looking but I guess thats jcpenney for ya. If you want nice pocket jeans then maybe the buckle or maurices. Anyway I got 2 pairs of Arizona jeans for $40 bucks & they felt comfortable when I tried them on but Ill see when I wear them to work all day how they fit then :)

Used to love this store but now its a remnant of what it used to be. Not much to choose from in any department.

There are always things on sale & stylish items for less than other stores. Home items are also great because they last a long time.
