Always good experience here. Gun department is awesome with good selection. The staff is always nice. Never had trouble here. Wish their automotive selection was better. I would stop here more often if it was.

Theyve got great prices if they are in stock but they rarely have everything available. They are also terrible with pick up in store online orders. My last order it took them over four hours to go pull the product for my order. In the mean time, it was sold out. Like I said great prices but be prepared to be frustrated by out of stock product.

We always get our layer feed from here, its the most economical that we know of. We get seeds and the best garden transplants. We bought 4 arborvitaes and they are beautiful.

Love this place, has a lot for your home farm life and great clothing too! Staff is ready to help their customers above and beyond what other places have done. Dislike they brought in cheaper socket tools and clearanced out Milwaukee.

We we’re on a road trip and had to stop here for an emergency repair on our trailer. Since this was an expected issue we didn’t have any tools with us to complete the required repair. We asked the manager on duty if they had one or two tools and without hesitation she called over her employee Andrew and asked him to assist us. He quickly grabbed a shopping cart and collected the tools he might need. Unfortunately there was a storm rolling in so we had very limited time but Andrew was determined to get started. When the rain started we took shelter inside. With time to kill we enjoyed some popcorn, found that the bathrooms were clean, and staff was very helpful. As the rain let us we headed back outside to find that the parking lot had flooded but that didn’t slow Andrew down. (See picture) We pulled into Rural King at 3:00PM and Andrew worked on it until 7:45. They had the supplies we needed and more than anything they had the staff that was willing to help. I can’t say enough good things about him and I feel he was truly a blessing. We were stranded and I’m not sure what we would have done without him. A million thanks to Andrew and to the lady upfront who knew he would be able to help!

Rural King is practically a 2nd home for my husband LoL we are in there all the time, whether its for farm equipment, animal supplies/feed, automotive stuff, tools and more for just about any project around the house, guns and ammo, and more. All four of our children LOVE accompanying for the popcorn, to check out the toys, see the animals (and of COURSE Rootie the 🐓 Rooster) I enjoy their boot selection as well as I LOVE their flip-flops, as well as checking out their large variety of plants, trees, veggies, herbs and more during the warmer seasons!! My husband and brother also like getting clothes from there, as they hold up wonderfully!! The employees are always friendly, happy and very helpful!! It is a typical country store, as simple concrete floors (the kids also LOVE the chick 🐥 feet prints leading to the back where they keep them), and the bathrooms are definitely nothing fancy LoL but they are typically clean and maintained well. Whether you are searching for something in particular, or just trying to kill a little time, you cant go wrong stopping in and wandering around for a bit 😊 as mentioned, their employees are always near by/ easy to find one if you need assistance, and are very knowledgeable, as well as honest if they arent sure. They also have great prices, and you simply cannot beat when they have clearance items, the prices are too good to be true at times, honestly!!

Very disappointed today. They had signs everywhere saying they wanted to make customers happy but the only person that apologized for the ordeal was the cashier who seemed new but she was nice. We wanted a chain link dog pen that was priced at $309.96. No one could figure out the sku. We told them the price they rang up wasnt right but it didnt matter. Then, the manager, who I think was named rob, was called over. He couldnt have walked any slower or with any more grimness if hed been walking to a gallows. No personality, no smile, no apologies and ZERO polite customer service. We waited out back for 15 minutes for someone to come out and unlock the fence panels. No one showed up. We had to call and tell them we were still waiting. It took half an hour to finally grey the truck loaded up when it shouldve taken ten minutes. AGAIN, no apologies, no smiles and ZERO polite customer service. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Just about the worst customer service from a store EVER!!!

I would like to share my experience at the Huber Heights, OH Rural King. I called the store last Saturday, and was asking about an electric fence, ans was forwarded to Bonnie. So I drove 25 miles to see her and WOW did she take some much needed time to each me about electric fences. Her attitude toward me was amazing. I had no experience in this type of fence. She walked over every detail and more. I took home a load of electrical madness and today my fence works perfectly. Without Bonnie I was lost, thank you Bonnie and Rural King. The fence is stopping the animals from entering another area!!!!!!! Thank you Bonnie!

The mattoon location always has the best inventory. Doesnt matter if its sports/ outdoors, boots, clothing, automotive, equestrian, or even live baby chicks and rabbits they have it all and at fair and affordable prices. I wouldnt sleep on this store. I would not be afraid to shop here anytime.

Dont order from them online and dont trust the reviews on their website!I dont live anywhere near a Rural King store, so when I found the right kind of fencing material on their website, I took the chance and placed my order. The shipping charges added about 50% to the price, but I urgently needed to extend an existing fence and wanted it to match. So, I paid the price. The shipment arrived several days early, but was clearly not what I ordered. Clearly, because I could tell from the outside of the box that it was incorrect as the roll was too slim for 100 of fencing and 6 instead of only 5 tall. When I opened the top, it became also evident that it wasnt the 2x2 mesh but a 1x1 hexagon wire. I immediately informed Rural Kings customer service department of the mistake and send images as proof. We went back and forth for a couple of days until they informed me that the item had shipped directly from the manufacturer (Red Brand) They had emailed them and I would have to wait until they heard back from them. I begged Rural King to call them, perhaps involve a supervisor, they refused. Nothing more they could do for me. So, I contacted the manufacturer myself and received a response within 12 hours. They apologized and informed me, I didnt need to return the incorrect item, which allowed me to temporarily close the gap in the fence and protect my animals. They also kept me up to date on the re-shipment. Two weeks later, I still have not heard back from Rural Kings customer service department.They did, however, invite me to write a review, which I did (much more to the point than this one). A couple of days later, they informed me, they wouldnt publish it, even though I have emails to support every claim I made. So, their reviews are absolutely unreliable.I dont know if Rural King placed my order incorrectly with the manufacturer or if the manufacturers shipping department made the mistake. Doesnt really matter. I placed the order with Rural King and paid them directly, so for them to wash their hands of any responsibility, is lousy customer service.Will never order from them again.

Didnt realize they had moved LOL. Like everywhere else, theyre low on guns and ammo but found a cool shirt!! So glad we still have stores we can purchase flags, back the blue, military and farm apparel. Hard to find so yea for Rural King for keeping it 🇺🇲

I really think the animals being welcome in store not a great idea. I dont appreciate trying to shop when dogs get into a fight.

I took the long 310 mile drive just to check out the Mattoon IL store last week and I am very impressed on how clean the store was, how friendly the staff is. I met with Vince the tractor manager. He seemed very knowledgeable on the Rural King Tractor line. When I pull the trigger and buy a tractor it will definitely be from him and his team.

Would like to see a higher quality product selection.. Doesnt always have to be the cheapest to get a sale

Very disappointed with Rural king. I placed an online order on May 2,2020 and still havent received it!!! I have emailed customer service to no avail, tracked my order and it hasnt even left the warehouse!!! Know I understand that it may take a bit longer due to the pandemic, but according to my local store, it should have shipped by now. NOPE. It didnt take but 1 day to debit my account though. I do not recommend ordering online with Rural King. Still trying to find a way to cancel my order and get a refund.

We always enjoyed going into Rural King but the new location is not great. The parking is limited and the signage indicating one way in the parking lot is hard to see & if you go the wrong way, the lane is too narrow for two cars. The aisles in the store arent much better! My encounters with the staff have generally been disappointing. There seems to be a lot of staff but they tend to be engrossed in their own personal conversations. No one was particularly friendly, helpful or interested in their role in customer service.

Do not under any circumstances buy anything online from RK guns! This company is a total scam. Please look up other reviews on this place not just here. I dont know how theyve manipulated the reviews but every where else they are rated 1 star and deserve it! They will take your order and it will go into limbo. I called to track my order two weeks afterwards, sat on hold for an hour and was told Were behind, it should go out in the next day or two I called back again another week later, sat on hold for two hours and was told the same thing. No real customer service attempt, no attempt to find out where the order is, just basically told Youll get it when you get it WARNING....DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE, ITS A SCAM!

Great place for plants. They are healthy and watered regularly, unlike other places that have parking lot plants. Love their household goods, tools and mens wear. Never a wait at the checkout!

Went in to purchase a new tree stand the only one they had left so they say because no one ever scanned it was the display. I asked to buy the display and they refused and just said we have more coming in. I walked out called over to Charleston asked if they had one they said yes but is the display and before i could say anything else the guy said Ill start taking it down for you. Mattoon rural king lost my business that very second i will never step foot back in that store. Its a shame that the customer service there since they moved has gotten so bad.
