I have loved visiting the Red Rooster! The environment is welcoming, workers are friendly, and they serve great food! Recently I tried the banana bread mix, and it has become very popular with my friends in college. I’ll be returning to this store on my breaks to restock on items to serve my friends.

This was a great find. Alas,we were too late for breakfast, but those super fresh deli sammiches were fantastic. Mac salad is also first rate. The ladies on staff were pleasant and super helpful. Cant wait to go back again.

This store has the best country ham in the state! A lot home made preserves and pickled vegetables can be found here. Also, they have a small inside dining area. During this pandemic, they are mindful cleanliness and social distance. This is a real treasure in Hanover County. This is a place we will be visiting often.

Finally got to this place today and it was delicious! I got a BLT which was perfectly made. The oreo mint milkshake was probably the best Ive ever had. Not to mention, the ladies working in there were so incredibly friendly. Was looking for a delicious lunch experience and thats exactly what I got. Will definitely be back!!

That old school feel, stopped and got a couple sandwiches from the deli and pick up a couple other things while there. Nicest people, great food.

Good and interesting selection of items but service was extremely slow. I walked out after 10 minutes without getting any service with only three customers in the store. Disappointing.

Drove by this place last week and noticed a crowd. Looked at each other and said.... that has to be good!Well ladies youre on to something here that could explode if word gets out . What makes the Red Rooster stand head and shoulders above the rest is their quality. Their product quality is great. But the quality of their customer service is unmatched! The folks treat you like family from the moment you walk in! My little boy is a “rock star” to Ms. Shelly! She still remembers the first time we went there! It doesn’t get any better than that!!!

Found this gem of a country store out in Mechanicsville Route 301. They close at 6pm, we walked in at 5:55pm, eck. They happily welcomed us in and made us a milk shake a bowl of ice cream. Wonderful happy place. Great Customer Service. 💞

Great country store, all kinds of goodies!

This is the coolest little country store! It has locally made honey, jams, jellies, hot sauces, etc. There is a small lunch/ice cream counter in the back, fudge, candies that were popular in the 60s and 70s and they have a decent selection of gifts... Its almost like going back in time. Great little shop! Check it out!

My wife thoroughly enjoyed the country ham from this establishment. She was in bed with a muscle sprain in her shoulder and requested A good country ham sandwich. After a quick internet search (we havent lived in the area for terribly long) I came across Red Rooster Country Store. The menu seemed easy to navigate and the prices were great so we went for it! Red Rooster did not disappoint. We often joke that my wife is a Country Ham Connoisseur, and while she loves the stuff, she is rarely impressed. Well, the country ham sandwich and biscuits from Red Rooster were a big hit! She loved the saltiness but also the thinness of the meat. The bread was nice and thick, toasted just enough that it wasnt super hard. This place is definitely a winner in our book, and if she has her way then we will most likely become regulars! Thanks again for great food and service!

Quaint local grocery store and Cafe. It has unique snack items, seasonings and condiments. I got some unusual jam flavors for stocking stuffers. It is a treat to visit the store.

Called in an order during the present stay at home rule. Carolyn was very helpful in assisting me to find the food and gift items I needed. When I asked her to find some little toy or candy for my great-grandchild she picked the perfect items and even put a big bow on the bag. As soon as I pulled up to the store she came out and loaded everything for me with a big smile. There was a notice on the door saying only one customer at a time can enter. So nice to have her do all the shopping for me and then load it into the car.

Cant say enough about this place. I just wish more places like this existed. The sandwiches are great for the price. The ice cream is awesome. The selection of goods is perfect. Amazing selection of jams and preserves. Just all around great place that I hope is in business for many years to come.

Ibe been in several times and enjoyed the best sandwiches Ive ever eaten. The shakes are great too! Each time Ive received friendly service with a smile and paid a reasonable price. Its just very tough to find places like this any more. Highly recommended!

There is an area for eating ice cream, milk shakes, sandwiches and more. There is also the Famous Thalhimers Chocolate Cake for purchase. The best banana pudding is sold here too. Make a special trip to Hanover and stop in for a visit here. You will not be disappointed.

I just moved to the area and have visited the Red Rooster twice. Its a delightfully ecletic little place, with crafts, food and desserts. I had a turkey sandwich, which was excellent, and bought a bag of Squirrel Nut Zippers, which are hard to find. They also have local honey.
