I visited 4-5 bike shops around the area. All had nice gear, none had the service, knowledge and willingness to discuss in-depth the equipment and bike. If you want a solid bike with the best service in town, this is the place to go. You can’t go wrong here. They have everything you need to ride on pavement, gravel, dirt or wherever your adventuress heart takes you.
I was in the market for a gravel bike at around $2000 with some stretch. Landrys didnt quite have what I wanted (not their fault given the national bike shortage) and JRA did. Staff are knowledgeable and very generous with their time -- I was having a lot of trouble with front mech indexing, and Tom spent literally hours getting it as dialed as possible for me.Perhaps the only bad thing I could say is that accessory installation labor isnt included with a bike purchase like it is at some other shops. The rates are reasonable, however, and it was a non-issue for me since the cost was such a small fraction of what I spent on the bike.
This was a wonderful experience, especially for a guy who does not know a lot about bikes, to schedule a quick bike repair and be able to go into a local shop and get almost immediate feedback and support. I highly recommend this bike shop as a place to get your bike repaired from a friendly and knowledgeable staff.
One of the best mountain bike shops in the Boston area! Fantastic selection of bikes, clothing, helmets, and upgrade parts! And the prices are awesome too! Very knowledgeable and fun staff, not like some of the yuppy road bike shops in the area!
Did a great job on my ride wrap instation!!! Team at JRA is great!
These guys are the real deal. I have been in a few times to try different bikes and every single time, the sales team has been so helpful. Can’t recommend them enough.
I’m usually not one to leave bad reviews but hear me out, I called early in the week about a bike they had and I wanted to come pick it up Saturday. 2 different people told me to be price of the bike was non negotiable even though it’s a left over and I’m driving 4 hours to come pick it up, ok no problem, I give them my down payment and tell them to have it ready for Saturday. Saturday I drive 4 hours to get the bike, they make me pay for the bike in full before they bring it out, ($4000 bike mind you). The girl comes walking out after the payment goes through and they didn’t even bother to check the bike over, both tires were flat, the suspension (being a full suspension bike the suspension front and rear needs to be pressurized) had almost no pressure, when someone assembled the bike they ground the chain against the carbon swing arm and couldn’t even bother to have put valve caps on the tire valves. I didn’t make an issue out of it while I was there because I had just drove 4 hours and just wanted to get back on the road, these are all things I can fix myself and I knew what I was buying but for a shop to sell you a $4000 bike and not catch all these issues is pretty sad. Usually you get an owners manual and paperwork with a new bike and they told me to they didn’t have anything for it. All in all the lack of caring left a bad impression on me and if anyone reads this then pay attention if you plan to buy an expensive bike.
Always a super helpful and knowledgeable staff. I have been getting my bikes worked on here for the last four years. I highly recommend this place.
Bought my bike here and will get it serviced every time. I know almost nothing and was guided to an unbelievable bike for commuting. Service is fast, comprehensive, non judgemental, and I always leave knowing what to do better. I never feel ripped off, pressured, or disappointed in making the trip. Road bikes, mtn bikes, accessories, rentals...everything you need from the people who know it all.
Friendly bike shop that can meet all your needs. I have purchased a mountain bike here recently and the experience was very pleasant. Even through COVID they have been attentive and safe, while still helping as many people as possible. I now dropped off my bike for service and they were willing to listen to my list of needs and really help me get to the core of what I needed. I have been looking for a bike shop Im ready to work with exclusively and I found that at JRA. Friendly and knowledgeable.
Very helpful, respectable staff. The cost is also reasonable. I will definetly service all my bikes there. 😊
Was able to get a diagnostic appointment same day and fixed my gear quickly the day before my triathlon. Friendly staff.
Every time I come here it’s a positive experience, I went to a shop in Somerville last week with a buddy and needed a quick emergency fix . (We we’re riding at the time ) and they wouldn’t even look at the bike.. I get it you’re busy but jra has fixed 3 of my flats and helped me with a rear axle issue (of which no other shop was of help) and I know for a fact jra is swamped with service. If they said they were too busy I wouldn’t even be mad because they actually take the time to look at something and treat you like a human even though they’re probably the busiest shop around.
I bought a Mountain Bike here in March. They were very friendly and helpful. Ive loved riding my bike this year.
Great customer service! I took my Electric bycicle for a tire and tube replacement, not only did they have better and durable tires for me it was also completed on the same day! Most bycicle shops avoid working on E-bikes to be safe on their side but you have no worries at JRA CYCLES! Highly recommend.
Very nice and clean place, service is ok. It would be 5 🌟 if I didnt have 4 employees asking me if I needed help every 3min, Wondering if if thats the way to say get out. It a small place so everyone can see each other. Felt very uncomfortable.
Got training wheels for my kids bike, which were a goodndeal. I was very pleased with the staff answering questions from a bike novice. The shop seems mainly aimed toward dedicated/professional cyclists, but has a huge selection of bikes available
This is an excellent bike shop. Been a few years since I have visited. Great place to purchase a mountain bike.
Great shop knowledgeable staff
This bike shop is so so expensive!!! They wanted to charge me over $500 for basically a tune up on my bike!! I left that shop so fast and a different shop in the area was able to do the work for around $50. Im never going back.
Great customer service! I got a biiiike
If you going there just for a flat or anything cheap. They wont take you. Go to ACE wheelworks or Somervelo instead. They will take care of you right away and wont screw you on price. #bikelife
Had a problem with my bike tube up, they addressed it quickly, cost effectively.
Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and great staff. Good selection and decent prices. Super covid safe too!
Great customer service by the staff.
Anything about bicycles and cycling. They know their stuff. Excellent customer service.
Fantastic shop run by some of the nicest people in the business. My go to for anything bike related in Metro Boston.
Brian is a great mountain bike resource. Very knowledgeable
I mean, Best shop ever is an understatement! Would highly recommend. Knowledgeable shop with best service one could ask for. Support local!
Brian was extremely helpful during my new bike purchase will definitely be going back there soon!
I have been going to JRA for 20 years, and Brian, Adam and the team just get better every year. They are absolutely the best shop for mountain bikes in Eastern Massachusetts
Absolutely outstanding!I called 3 other shops to get a wheel trued, and none could take it as they were straight out (completely understandable). I have never been to this shop, but its really easy to find, and a true gem. GREAT service. Thanks a million!
JRA is awesome! Great customer service, knowledgeable staff and nice selection! Glad to have a LBS like this place!
They were very.prompt fixed my flat tire right away. Reasonable prices..i love them.
Unbelievable customer service.
Decent service, but a little disorganized.
What a wonderful customer service! I had driven to the Fells to go mountain biking only to realize that I had left my helmet at home. I went to JRA cycles - the closest bike store - to see if I could rent a helmet for the afternoon, and the awesome guy there let me borrow one for free! That just doesnt happen!!! This is my new fave shop!!!
Went out there way to find even a small item for me.
Very reasonable and great to work with. I have all my bikes repaired here and feel as though they always treat me fairly and do great work.
CourteousProfessionalFast
Good service
They still dont allow customers in the store, but if you press the doorbell they bring the customer service to you.
Professional and friendly.General service is good. Had a bad experience where a tech hastily inspected a bicycle and diagnosed the fork as bent. They said it was unsafe to ride and should be replaced. I bought a new fork from manufacturer which I dont know what to do with now. It was actually pent up pressure (from accident) in the shock absorber which released when removed. Got it inspected by multiple techs at Cycle Loft and they said it was good.
Bought a bike rack for our car. Very helpful and they offered to help if we couldnt figure it out. Good to support a local business.
Amazing quick, friendly and professional service! I’m new to the area- My first visit- I’m very impressed!!!! Grateful!
Very polite and helpful!
Very friendly staff, reasonable prices. Helped fix a flat quickly, and without drama. The mechanic walked me through what might be a better pressure for my tires to prolong their life, and offered great suggestions for just overall maintenance. Cheaper than a few other places in the area Ive been too; will be back again!
I love this place! Great stock of everything you could need. Super helpful staff and A+ mechanics. If you live within 25 miles totally worth the effort to get to JRA!
Expensive bike shop. Lots of eletric bikes. I couldn’t find nothing under 1k for myself.
JRA might have technically sound people but they definitely lack the will to help out a customer. While I was trying to load my bike into the car, I requested any of their members to kindly assist me with the task. This was close to the shops closing hours. The guy inside didnt even hear me out and just kept signalling me that the shops closed. I had expected better from such a reputed store but now I know. A little compassion goes a long way.
Best bike shop around. Great customer service and the best mechanics around.
Came in due to a flat and my gears werent working - fixed the flat (and added pressure to the other tire) and brought my gears back to life...in 20 minutes. Great service would recommend
Excellent bike shop, they have excellent technicians, who know what theyre talking about, friendly, not cheap but worth the money.
Whoa.. never knew about JRA. Excellent and quick service. Have lots of options. Staff is very friendly. Would definitely recommend.
Just had a great experience here -- was looking for a part to affix my headlight to my handlebars, couldnt find it, and the guy working sent me away with a rubber band and some bike innertube to strap my light on and get me home. Will return to actually buy something for sure! Very friendly and helpful staff
Great place to get information, gear and bicycles.
Great service, knowledgeable staff
Great customer service!
Awesome shop. They helped me with my broken part provided great advice.
Multiple visits here and theyve met my expectations every time! Ive even had issues mid-ride and stopped by and they were able to fix issues on the spot.
Great service and friendly staff
Super busy @ time, didnt know we needed appointment (been a while since I been to a bike store!), but the dude with the beard was incredible nice during overall stressful times. I will be purchasing my bikes and accessories from JRA as long as they are there.
Great folks
Hopped in there this morning. Great attentive staff that put in the extra effort to solve your problems. They take their time and put their customers 1st. Great selection of gear too. All types of bikes from bmxs, road bikes, mtbs. Thanks for helping me get my bike on the road today and great advice.
The nicest people!
Probably the best bike shop Ive ever been to. Great customer service, good place for just a tune up or if youre getting into some serious biking. Not so great for say your kids first bike though. As far as purchasing bikes and parts they are top of the line aka top of the price range. The staff is awesome though so if youre new to the area and just need some tips on where to ride, go talk they dont bite!!
My favorite bike shop in the area. Knowledgeable and relatively friendly employees are also awesome local racers. Excellent mechanical work and thoughtful service. Ive been able to source weird parts here a few times, and they have excellent taste in tires and bikes.
This is a great shop. They were excellent for me on many occasions. My bicycle needed repeated modifications. They were patient and friendly. They sincerely wanted to make sure my bicycle was in perfect condition and to my satisfaction. I highly recommend them!
Knowledgeable + friendly people run the store. JRA carries loads of parts-- in stock--which is perfectly convenient when you break your things and need new stuff quickly to go for bike rides. Generally everything you could want if what you are looking for is a high end mountain bike shop
JRA is the best bike Shop around.
It was a great experience Adam Kline was very helpful I appreciate his skills thanks a lot Adam
Really nice and helpful staff. I didnt end up buying anything, but I learned a lot that will help inform my eventual bike purchase.Good selection. If the dont have a size of bike currently built, theyll make it happen so you can sit and take a test ride before pulling the trigger.
Exactly what an LBS should be. Such a rare find these days. Brian and his staff are awesome. In over 25 years of riding I have yet to find another shop that treats all of their customers so well. They know their stuff, theres no pressure, they want to help their customers and they genuinely care. Kudos to everyone at JRA.
Ive visited the shop many times but ended up buying there as they were the most helpful and personal in assisting you. This is whether it be a purchase or for just information. Theyve also assisted on minor repairs while I waited so I can get back riding. Ive seen them go from a small shop to a larger one without sacrificing service or personality. Highly recommended local bicycle shop. You will not be disappointed.
Ive never brought a bike here, as I found the selection a little limited for those who need a small frame. However, the staff are so helpful!Ive stopped here plenty of times with questions, and accessories. Theyve always been really nice and personable and most importantly, patient, especially to someone whose not very quick on understanding road bikes (Im a runner, its all I know).I found service prices to be very fair as well.
Nice bike shop, focused on expensive high end mountain bikes, but also carries road and hybrid bikes. Selection of accessories and large selection of clothing.Fast and friendly service. Can get crowded during peak time and you might need to wait 2 weeks for a tune up appointment.
What an LBS should be. Brian (the owner) is incredibly friendly, helpful, and even remembered me 5 years since I had last ridden with him (moved out of town). Hes gone out of his way to come over and say hi at bike festivals and events, and is always super helpful. The guys in the shop also reward good customers - theyve thrown in a few extras now and again because of the bikes and other accessories Ive bought there. One of the few shops Id trust to do the small amount of work on my bike I dont have the tools to do at home!
Always a pleasure to go to JRA! Im in a wheelchair and theyre very accommodating to help me get things fixed up asap when they break. They even made a ramp for the step at the front of the store so that I can get in!
I cannot recommend this place enough. The staff were extremely helpful and patient when I wanted to test drive several different styles and sizes. I will be using the bike a lot for commuting so I usually have a backpack full of stuff I bring back and forth. To get an idea of which bike was going to be more comfortable, I asked if they sold backpacks so I could load up some stuff to try it out. They didnt have any they sold but one of the employees actually gave me his bag and loaded it up with spare bike parts for me!I definitely would give this place a try if you live anywhere in the area.
Great bike shop. On the short list of places that I trust to service my bike. Also has a large selection of new bikes and accessories and clothing
Incredibly nice and supportive staff! They are more than willing to work with you and are really committed to helping you find what it is that you are looking for. Despite the many thousands of dollars of bicycles in their shop, you will not detect an air snobbery here.
Just wanted to take a minute and thank Brian and Adam for there help on my purchase of a Pivot mach 4SL. I was trying to decide between a Pivot trail 429 and Mach 4SL and Brian really pushed for me to b buy the Mach 4SL. Honestly, I was a little skeptical, but boy was he correct. Bottom line is they really no there bikes!! I cant recommend them more. Awesome shop.
Great shop. Alex fixed my bike (Specialized Roubaix) up and fit me into his tight schedule. Price is competitive and my bike rode better than tune ups Ive received at other area shops. Would recommend!
They do not like to take phone calls. Especially “Brian”. You might as well just show up and hope for the best when you need to buy something.
I’ve been taking my bikes here for a couple of years. They are courteous and knowledgeable, and not too salesy. Can be a little pricey but it’s worth it for supporting a local business that values its customers.
Brian, Aaron, Adam, Wil, and the whole team at JRA are some of the most knowledgeable and courteous bike shop dudes youll ever meet. I walked in there as a doe-eyed new customer a year ago and was helped out to get all of the stuff I needed to ride. They get 100% of my service work on the mountain bike because they truly are the best in the area. Most of the guys ride locally too, and when Ive run into them on the trails, theyre not only friendly and cordial, they have helped me work on my skills and getting faster. There is no better bike shop in the area.
Great buying experience. Everyone is extremely helpful and spend half hour with me to figure out exactly what I want :-) Highly recommended! Any questions in mind, just ask. There are plenty of bicycles in-stock, too.
I use JRA for all my bike needs. They are really knowledgeable, friendly, and always provide lucid advice. Highly recommend them.
Great service
Very high level of service and knowhow. Fun to shop. Great clearance section. They know their business.
A nice local bike shop. Labor prices here are fair too. A lot less expensive than some of your other bike shops
I have been coming to JRA for years for my bike and my kids. Most of my visits have been for bike service - that team here is pretty awesome. They are patient and explain everything very well and are great at scheduling your repair and work to make sure its ready on time. On more than one occasion the repair guys have quickly fit me in for a last minute repair - even once after they were closing their doors. I normally love to do my own fix it work - its saves a lot of money and isnt too hard. But I feel so good about giving JRA my money that I dont hesitate to have them do the work.
Good selection and friendly service, but I had to come back after a tune up and tire repair: the fender was lose (just one day after the tune up) and my tire had another leak. I suppose that the flat tire could just be bad luck. But they fixed the fender and tire right away and at no charge. And I installed some Kevlar strips.
Had a flat tire; they fixed it for a good price. :)
Great service. Highly recommend them
JRA has been exceptional at working with me to demo the 5.5, Switchblade, and 429 so that I know when I buy a pivot that Im getting the bike that works best for me.
This shop is great! They clearly love what they do and theyre interested in getting you on the right bike, not on selling you what they have.
