The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating (even lent me gloves so my fingerprints didnt get on the cymbals I tried). Pricing was reasonable (not too high, nor too low). On-street parking.NOTE: You need to set up an appointment to see the gong studio.

A privately-owned, long-established Drum Shop. We have traveled quite some distance out of our way several times to visit the shop. They are a full-service facility and carry a wide range of percussion.Their selection of symbols is outstanding. They also have unique singing bowls as well as a collection of gongs that are worth going out of your way to see. For the gongs, you do need to call ahead to arrange to see them.Though its out of the way, its easy to find and there is plenty of on-street parking nearby.

Memphis Drum Shop’s mycymbal.com is a tremendous aid. The biggest cymbal rooms in the biggest drum stores don’t have anything close to their selection. Several times now I’ve seen a favorite drummer playing a cymbal that blew me away, found out what the model of cymbal was, and then found several cymbals of that model on mycymbal.com that I could select for comparison to hear back to back. They record the cymbals so you can hear them in context with a drum set. Yes the mics color the sound a little but so does hitting a cymbal in the cymbal room of a drum store, which is unlike any room you will ever play that cymbal in again. At least if you do some recording you’ll already have an idea of how it will come out. And their customer service is outstanding. Jameson answered my questions quickly and followed up with a solution to my shipping challenges immediately. I could not have asked for a better experience.

Being able to watch a demo video on the exact cymbal I was looking at online was really nice. My cymbal is even better than i thought playing it in person. My order was shipped in an eco friendly cardboard tank. I have had cymbals shipped to me many times before but never with this much care! No plastic (aside from cymbal bag) or styrofoam. Shipping itself was rather quick and shorter than quoted. Overall a great experience and will be shopping here again. Thanks!

The cymbal soundfiles were most helpful in making a knowing choice. I was not disappointed when I first played my Istanbul Agop 22 Mel Lewis ride cymbal. I booked an hour long private sound journey in the Gong Chamber for my husbands birthday. He is used to years of me finding unique and unusual presents, sometimes a hit, sometimes a miss. But this was a home run. The whole experience was totally transcendent! The sound is so relaxing and ethereal and the feeling of the vibrations make your body so relaxed. I wish I would’ve brought a throw blanket because your body temp does drop a bit as you become fully relaxed and enter the meditative state. Nancy does an excellent job of guiding your relaxation at the outset and playing the gongs so skillfully. Highly recommend!

I contacted MDS from Perth Australia in an attempt to get a better deal as DW drums are pretty pricey here. Great communication and great detailed responses from the store. They even went to the trouble of working out shipping rates, box sizes and weights-everything I needed to work out costing. If their on-line service is anything to go by, they certainly provide great service and go the extra mile. Sadly the shipping costs (not MDS responsibility) and customs costs negated the savings on the kit. Excellent customer service. Im dissapointed I couldnt do business in the end as they deserved a sale!

I love Memphis Drum Shop! Their exact cymbal videos on the website are great because you can see and hear the exact cymbal you are planning to buy. Although everything obviously sounds different in person, its a great way to sort of sample sounds when buying online. I have also had very good experiences with their customer service via email and phone. I had questions about returning a cymbal so I called and the rep was very helpful and easy to talk to. He told me how to go about making a return and told me to send an email with a little info to their sales email address so everything could be documented and better communicated and they replied to my email within a minute with all the info and return label ready to print. I have bought a few cymbals from their website using different payment options and every way is easy to use. I love that they use Affirm and that it is so easy to set up. I have even sent in info and pics of cymbals to give me trade in or sale quotes and they are prompt in replying and the prices the offered me was higher than all of my local drum/music shops and they sent very clear, easy instructions on how to send in cymbals and get paid for them. Historic drums shop! I expected to see to see more drums and cymbals in their shop but I guess its mostly online.

I had seen the Memphis Drum Shop on line and the pictures were very interesting. I took a day and made the hour and a half drive to check it out.As soon as I walked in I was greeted warmly by Bill who took me on a tour of the store.They had very attractive displays of their drum sets from cute little kids sets up to the massive sets that would cost a second mortgage.I always check out the drum sticks when I go in a music store.They had every name brand and size stick to fit any type of music.Bill went to the back and found the perfect sticks for me.I also bought a cool black t-shirt with Memphis Drum Shop on front.I will definitely go back because a business where everyone is friendly will always be a success!
