They had cases of strawberries for $1. As I already had them in my basket, this guy was changing the price to, 3 for $1. And to top it off,ost of the berries had HAIRY mold on them. Why not keep them at, $1 for the case.I just left my cart and walked out. I even told them guy, you cannot just change prices as people are buying them.Be careful going here. Check prices and be alert to how your stuff is being run up.

I was driving by and saw their sign for dollar pumpkins and decided to stop. I didnt realize I was going in a store at 1st and did not have a mask. I went up to the door and the employees opened the door and invited me in! Such a welcoming experience. Most the people didnt have a mask on and it was amazing and refreshing. Stopped in this place for the first time today & it will be my last!The place was filthy,flies everywhere,smelled like rotten produce. I was afraid to move anything for fear a roach would appear!I can’t believe the board of health hasn’t paid them a visit.

They do not remove rotting foods from the fresh therefore it all becomes nasty. There was one employee working and it was busy. Customers were throwing semi rotten tomatoes around in the bins creating even more mess. There were a lot of bugs because of the rotting food. Thank God we have to wear masks so that you dont get gnats up your nose!

Tons of fresh produce plus lots of imported ethnic foods too. I always go to Evans when Im going to cook something special.

I like this market. They have a great selection. However it is a big task to sort out what is going bad and flies in those areas are plentiful. Prices are good, and in my multiple shopping trips I had only one item that was bad.

I enjoy going to this market for fresh fruit and veggies. They have unusual items too not found in stores.

I just picked up 5lbs Of 🍅 tomatoes for $1.00 . So I went back and got enough to make 20qt.of juice and crushed tomatoes. We all so picked up 4 zucchini for $1.00 & a bag of rainbow 🌈 colored peppers for a buck . The place isnt large but it is loaded with a lot of good things if you take the time to look around.

I give this place 5 stars because I understand I have not going here to shop at Whole Foods, I am going to Evanss Market.They have lots of produce, some truly exotic items that I cant get in Northwest Indiana & I understand that the orange peppers I bought 4/$1.25 need to be cut up and put in what Im cooking today or tomorrow, not next week.They fill a need in my book bu offering what they do & they are honest with their pricing. Fun to browse. Recently has become a go to. I can always get Curry leaves and green unripe papaya which I use for Indian recipes. Cant get those anywhere else in the region. I also pick up in-season fruits and veggies. Prices are great. Its not a grocery store, so I limit my selection to what I use in 3-4 days because they sometimes ripen quickly. Overall I love this place. Yes they sometimes have items that are overripe. I just move along to the fresher shipments. But Ive seen people buy some of these....possibly for stew or something. Lots of ethnic foods you cant get elsewhere. I would be tragically out of luck without this place. Its single handedly upped my Indian cuisine game, ever since I moved back from Indianapolis where I had access to international supermarkets.

I worked in this Evan Farmer Market for 5 months now. I really liked this job. My worker men really good care all fruits and vegetables. We did check cut fruits to taste it, make sure still fresh. I feel I have a close their family in the work. But I haven’t work for one weeks now. I just have no idea what going on.

I rated this place a 3 star simply because it is in the middle. Some days you will find really great deals. Other days it will be nothing much there especially if you are looking for specific things. You do have to pick through your fruits and veggies as some might be overripe or have mold but for the price you pay for the good picks you really cant complain. Me and my wife visit often. The employees are friendly and its never really too crowded when we go.

I love this place because most of the time it is cheaper than stores. You do have to be careful because some things spoil quickly because they are so ripe. I recommend buying enough that you will eat in a few days. I was so overtaken by the low prices, I bought too much and paid for it cause I didnt eat it in time. Love the diversity.

Unsanitary, very disorganized, and the staff are very very disrespectful. Mold on apples as they lay with fresh ones. Bugs are laying their babies on top of the watermelons. Very disgusting.

Love this place! You may need to pick through the produce to find the nice ones, as they are not the perfect, unmarked grocery store quality. That being said, I save a bundle on all produce. They also have a large variety of imported dry goods.

However i am still please and i am a filipino i got my other product there. And my husband is vegan he got his turmeric and genger there cheaper than Meijer and wholefoods,and yesterday we went again there and we got the oranges for $1 for 10 pcs amzing!and finally we found sesame oil there which is very expensive at amazon and whole foods.

Best place to buy fresh produce in the area. They stock local produce and have the lowest prices youll find. They do keep some fruit for a bit too long, but I think thats something we really need to do more for a less wasteful society. Also, they sell packaged goods from Eastern European, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern countries (good source of Bulgarian Feta).

Much cheaper then grocery stores on fresh vegetables and fruits, wish they would open more stores in northwest indiana but worth the drive!

Good produce for the price only when they bring it fresh. Also not good for 1week storage. Use it within 3 days. Goes bad quickly. Also, not well maintained. Always check for fungus growth when picking up boxed or sealed items because they will not take it back.

Some things are rotten, some things are good, some things are overpriced, some things are cheap. You really need to watch what you get here, but some of the prices cant be beat. Has a good ethnic selection of shelf items and the prices are great if you are looking for Indian or Middle-Eastern spices and beans or lentils.
