I really do like this place! I used to work nearby, so this is not the first time Ive been here, but it has literally been almost a decade. Walking in here was like a trip down memory lane. I didnt get the coffee this time, but Id have picked up the baked goods, which are always good. They now have a remote ordering app, which I take advantage of, and then walk in through the side door and pick up the order thats been labeled and is sitting on a table. They are taking the pandemic seriously, as masks are required.
Great place for a snack and beverage. Cozy atmosphere.
Great drinks & lunches. Cookies amazing! Excellent selection of wines and some hard liquor. Excellent coffee.
Not good service. Waited for the coffee for 15 min (no line was there) and got the wrong beverage than ordered.
Barriques is my absolute favorite coffee shop in Madison! Hands down best tasting espresso IMO. I love their oat milk lattes, and the location in Middleton has a great beer selection in addition to their wine selection. Very friendly staff. The fact that they have an app now is an added bonus! Love them, highly recommend!
Great food, drink, and atmosphere. Cant really get more Madison than Barriques. And when you go in, try the honey lavender latte. Just do it.
Best coffee in Middleton. No doubt about it. Go there instead of the place down the street.
So glad I found this place. Came across it randomly searching Google maps. Their iced black tea is some kind of amazing blend thats got some bergamot to it. Got a Blackhawk Breakfast bowl too and that was fantastic. Made to order, super fresh ingredients. They also offer some nice whiskeys by the glass which I will be returning to sample as soon as a I can. Great stuff!
Nice cafe/wine store with a good beer and spirit selection.
The sandwiches are good and I like there spicy drink
Sour and bitter coffee. Can’t even get real half and half in your coffee anymore.. only the shelf stable milk pods. I understand places need to cut back but jeez have some decency and buy real cream. Pretty pathetic for Barriques.
I was pleased with my iced chai tea. I love that they have a few options for plant based milks. And the location is great too. The tables outside are a bonus.
Really good wine selection and some unique coffees.
I love your staff & the cold brew! Never have I found nicer staff that consistently makes sure their customers are satisfied with their beverages.
Lavender latte was perfect
Do not recommend this place!! Ordered a breakfast bowl and it was the smallest thing and flavorless. It tasted of no salt and stale. Will never come back. The costumer service was also negligent. They took almost 15 mind to deliver me my food with no people ordering.
Relaxing place
Fantastic coffee and pastries! Calm and cozy atmosphere.
Great coffee and great scones but unfortunately NASTY customer service. Ive been a loyal customer since 2018, but Im only going to other Barriques locations now.
The food was good! Need dressing to go with the greens. Otherwise service was good too!
Very rude woman behind the counter and unreliable service. I thought I would try the Zoom tasting so I placed my order last week and it had me select a pickup time. I drove all the way here and went to pick up my order in the rain today at the designated time and the person said it was not ready and was very rude to me for not getting a confirmation email. Now I have to take time out of another day to try and pick it up again. She wouldn’t let me cancel the order either, so now I am wondering if I am just out the $30. First time trying this service and coming in to this location and I am very disappointed.
Relaxing atmosphere and a great cup of coffee. I especially like how chill all their employees are. Its a great place to chat with friends, work on projects or sit and respond to emails. Their honey lavender latte is my favorite! Its sweet but not too sweet and a a unique flavor that I have yet to find anywhere else.
Wide variety of beverages available from coffee to smoothies to even adult beverages! Barriques offers something for everyone with a price that cant be beat. Not only is this a great place to stop for a coffee beverage but they have an excellent selection of wines and libations, as well as all the accessories you might need(wine bottle toppers, tea infussers,etc.). They even sell cold brew systems for your home. If you love coffee, wine or chocolate definitely check this place out!
Great coffee. But they do not offer lactose free milk, they have the other substitutes that are not milk. Up your game Barriques. Offer lactose free milkThis is Wisconsin. Milk is milk with or without lactose.
I was excited to come here by they have zero handicap parking for their shop, not at the front, side or back parking areas... It’s really unfortunate! There was a handicap spot in the parking lot next to theirs but that’s not handicap parking for their location if you have to travel even further for that parking. It’s almost 2020, please become more ADA accessible and friendly!
This business has safe practices to protect their workers and the public. Thank you!!
Great coffee shop with wine, liquor and beer selection too! Cozy and delicious food. Boom.
The staff are always friendly and helpful, the coffee, tea, and food options are awesome.
Such a cool coffee place! Tons of energy in the air and every table was full. Good thing I was grabbing some coffee to go. Location makes parking tough, but the 1/8 mile walk was worth it.
Had a scene and hot chocolate, fabulous!
Cool coffee shop. Feel like I could just chill here for hours.
Great coffee, friendly staff, and I love the products on their shelves. Its also a relief that theres a coffee shop in the area that is taking the health of Americans seriously.
Really bad customer service for a Sunday afternoon and an empty store.
Barriques is a great place to get more than just coffee. I has an incredible selection of beer and liquor, as well. And, along with with the bakery and other options for a quick health snack, make it a one stop shop for the person on the go!
We go to Barriques after our New Years Day run. Fantastic coffee and breakfast sandwich choices and a great liquor section. One of the few places I know of to get a pick 6 of New Glarus including their limited releases.
Very reliable coffe shop.... Barriques always serves a quality product in eclectic environments. They all have a welcoming atmosphere and also sell beer and wine. 😁
Nice little coffee shop housed with a liquor and beer store. Good selection on both sides!
Customer service is great, but the drinks consistency in terms of darkness and sour taste are very off and are day to day on how good they are. Their shakes and smoothies are great though, also they have great food selection for anything small to medium sized meals. This place is a very good place to study and to concentrate on work. Overall I highly recommend it.
Cute little coffee shop! Great place to do homework/work if youre not an undergraduate student. Good coffee drinks and cozy atmosphere.
I loved it and they were very friendly
Really nice atmosphere. Their smoothies have almond milk without extra pay. Looks like a pretty good selection of wine as well.
Coffee and coffee drinks are consistently good. The staff are not rude, not overly friendly. Drinks are made well, so that can takes bit longer, but theyre not slow. Coffee snacks are always dependable. This place is no library- noisy with the coffee grinder and espresso machine hard at work most of the time. Nice place to sit with noise cancelling headphones and study. One of my favorite barriques.
Eh, its pretty good. Half liquor store, half coffee shop. The sandwiches are great but I really wish they gave you bigger cups of iced tea. Even the largest is pretty dinky.
Service was very good, and the workers as well as the shop looked clean and well kept. Coffee was good and fresh though not great. 3.5 stars
Mixed berry scones and chai lattes are my jam. Love this location especially for the comfy chairs by the fire place. Great place to sit and read or get some work done. They have great lunch options too. The Wingra bowl is delicious. I meet friends here for coffee at least twice a week!
Best coffee in town. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the food is great. If your looking for the perfect bottle of wine for a special occasion, they will help you find it and at a reasonable price.
Excellent mixed berry scones... Also good variety of roasts...
BEST COLD BREW! Seriously best cold brew coffee in town. Huge space, easy meeting area, and scones are delicious!
The barristas are friendly, helpful and capable. The coffee is brewed well. An excellent selection of wine and alcoholic beverages and the employees are knowledgeable about them. Good floor space and nice atmosphere, if a bit noisy at times.
Great local coffee cafe and so much more. The staff is fantastic and always pleasant.
Good food, friendly service, clean, quiet. A great place to work or study.
They know how to make the best dirty Chai latte. In fact, I think they make the best drinks in Madison. The coffee helps with that as well!
The place is half retail half cafe. It is average priced coffee. I didnt have any hot food but the espresso chip scone was delicious as was the almond milk latte. The uniqueness of the place is in its wines, retail and menu board. I dropped a star because the chairs by the fireplace are threadbare and need to be replaced.
This is a nice quiet location with plenty of seating. We ordered a couple of coffee drinks an some food. I had the crustless quiche and it was very good. There is also a good selection of wines available here for purchase by the bottle as well as wine accessories.
I struggle when reviewing Barriques because I absolutely love the products available and the atmosphere, however, the service of late has been hit or miss. My fiancee and I have been going to Barriques for a long time and it has been a favorite for us. On one of our recent trips, there was a woman working who seemed to clearly be new, although she refused to say anything along those lines. Rather, she gave the impression that she was unwilling to ask for help from others. She basically blamed my fiancee for the fact that she couldnt find an item on the register because thats not an item people really order here. It was a frappe. Even if no one else in the universe orders this product, my fiancee orders it almost every week! She then messed up my tea order, making it for here rather than to go, which wouldnt have been a big issue, but she wouldnt acknowledge me when I said something as she put it on the order up counter! Another kind employee remade it for me when she noticed us. Furthermore, we had ordered a scone and she never gave it to us. Granted, we forgot to ask because we were busy trying to get my tea put into a cup to take on the road. After this ordeal, we e-mailed Barriques and never got a response. This was the most frustrating part. We were not even acknowledged. It really changed our viewpoint and we are less likely to patronize Barriques because of this.
The tea tasted good. The cashier who took order was not feriendly.
Love, love, love the coffee here, but I can never get out of here under 15-20 minutes, no matter the time of day, busy or slow. Everyone here moves at a snails pace. Frustrating.
I love this coffee shop. Great food and drinks, friendly staff. My only complaint is that the parking lot is so tiny!
Awesome coffee shop, with excellent food. The baristas are kind and helpful.Wish they would open a location in Milaukee.
Always great coffee and menu. Try the blueberry tea and a Wingra bowl (if you like brussel sprouts).
I ordered their banana bread and pumpkin chocolate chip breads and both were expiring soon after purchase and they tasted every bit of stale and totally not fresh like I’ve had before.
Love this coffee shop, but the lunches seem a bit over priced to me. Updating in 2019 (taking away two stars) as I’m on crutches, and this Barriques has no disabled parking spots! That’s pretty shocking and in bad form.
Good vibe, decent food
The staff here are extremely helpful and the atmosphere is amazing with their selection of coffees and teas as well as alcohol. Its one of the few places in Madison that sells sake by the bottle and their coconut oolong is to die for
Really great place to meet for informal work meetings and have a relaxed conversations over coffee.
Nice atmosphere. Good service. Great drinks.
Cute AF. Hip lattes and guilty pleasure baked treats.
Great food, free Wifi, nice people!
This morning, An Asian girl took our order quickly and after we tipped, we waited for our recipet. She just stared at us. Then we said recipet please. She just gave to us. Immediately, she talked to the next customer and said, I wondered what the hell they wanted. My husband stopped me from going back to say anything. While we were waiting for our food and drinks, I realized we didnt have much time to finish our drinks, so my husband was going to look for someone to ask for a to go cup before they brought our drinks. Then the Asian girl finally talked with my husband. When he asked for a cup, she said, next time you should tell us earlier! REALLY? We should be allowed to change our mind without being lectured!
Great mocha, warm fire, friendly staff.
Great coffee...in real cups when staying in. A bit crowded (tables are somewhat close together. Would have given 5 stars but parking is horrible, especially handicapped parking. Its not close to the entrance at all. Difficult for anyone with walking issues.
Good coffee, good food, great service, great (unbelievable) selection of organic whole beans to take home. They have three screens you have to navigate in order to pay with a credit card and get Belly points, but its good for a laugh.
Great coffee. Good atmosphere. Breakfast sandwich could be improved upon.
Charming place to get coffee and pastries.
Nice airy building with lots of light. Can be noisy when full. Great coffee drinks and pastries. Also, good bargins on wine by the bottle to take with you.
Great and friendly service. Perfect spot for work and meeting clients.
Loved the Mexican Mocha coffee. Its spicey and sweet with a great balance of cayenne, cinnamon, and cocoa. Friendly staff!
The breakfast sandwich and quiche were both horrible (over-microwaved tough and chewy). My coffee (Americano) was good. The cookies/pastries looked good but after throwing away our breakfast, we didnt bother trying them.
Update; They should call it S&M Wine & Spirits.I must like suffering because Im still getting my coffee hereThe worst of the Barriques around....Yes, still the worst locationThe attitude from the girls working there! They do everything they can to make you feel you are beneath them. I work in Middleton and was stopping daily until I could not put up with the attitude any more. The final draw was when I stood there at the counter for 20min with other customer behind me waiting while I got to listen to. You know Oh my god She didnt. really, really Oh my god He hooked up with who. The girl working the cash register would look over at me and the others waiting and roll here eyes as she kept on talking with the barista....Well, every drink is made half hearted... I still go here because there really is no where else and I cannot bring myself to support Star Bucks
The oatmeal cookie was BOM!!
Vibe was cool but food was terrible. We tried the tuna melt and grilled cheese. Both tasted microwaved and not toasty like they had come off a griddle. Total let down
Best place for coffee and liquor, I never go anywhere else!
Great food, coffee, and atmosphere!
Great selection. They offer every kind of caffeinated creamy treat and wine you can imagine, though their food choices are lacking.
This is a nice coffee shop. It has a decent amount of seating and there are usually a good number of people seated doing everything from studying or reading to having a business meeting to catching up over a cup of coffee or tea. My experience is mostly during the daytimes, and while it sometimes looks very full, you can almost always find a seat. It can be coffee shop loud with the milk steamer and espresso machine noises with all of the seating in same big room, but its pretty much the good coffee shop white noise type of bustle that works for a lot of folks for background sounds to get things done. Theyre also a liquor store/wine shop. I cant speak for the wines (not really my thing), but the liquor selections are a fun mix of interesting items that you dont see everywhere, and they seem to have a good representation of local and smaller distilleries. At times, parking can be a short walk, but there are frequently spots in the lot and adjacent street spots.
You can never go wrong with ordering coffee or whatever drink from Barriques. This particular Barriques had a HUGE assortment of wines on display. Lots of indoor seating and some outside seating.
Phenomenal place with friendly staff that remembers your name and great coffee and treats. A very comfortable environment to meet up with friends:)
Great local coffee
Great cafe to go with friends and family
Great place....if it was a little bit more affordable it would be five star rating!
Very nice iced. coffee today - black smooth and cold
