A star for each slice of green pepper on my Philly cheese steak. Thats right, one. 40 minutes after placing our order we were informed that one of the entrees we ordered was not available. About ten minutes later, our food was brought out by someone other than our waitress, so at about one bite in our waitress popped over to see how everything was. She didnt return to ask if everything was okay after that. The Philly cheese steak had only one slice of green pepper and also contained a long gross piece of beef fat. Each half of the grilled cheese sandwich came from different sandwiches and it was made up mostly of apple slices. The frites were soggy and of the two dipping sauces ordered, only one was correct. The potatoes in the potato salad were raw. Pouring mustard over raw potatoes doesnt make it a salad. Also the choice to serve a salad in a half pint mason jar, but only fill it 2/3rds full makes it look like someone already ate a third of my side.
Healthy farm to table food. GREAT CHOICE OF CIDERS N BEERS. I loved their soup and cheeseburger as it had a great melted cheese n meat was superb. They offer inside and outside seating. Although seating isn’t super comfortable, it was adequate and would definitely go back.
Great place for some good food and great specialty beers. Yes there is outdoor seating too.
Came in tonight on the brink of the kitchen closing, our first staff member was very disinterested in helping us, she told us the kitchen was closed and abruptly told us to take a seat and did not Offer guidance as to their new table service policy (we haven’t been here since pre-covid). After we sat down we were greeted by an amazingly positive and friendly staff member named Mason. We again asked if there was any chance of getting to order some gluten free fries. He kindly checked with the kitchen and came back promptly with a yes! He was friendly, accommodating, helpful and warm! Our experience here immediately changed after having his service! Thank you Mason! Hire more Mason’s! 😁
Fantastic idea and presentation. Oh but that Jeffrey. I think he had his period when we came in. I was scolded immediately for passing the wait for host stand by 2 feet. And then we were lied to when we were told we had to wait an hour and a half when there was nobody waiting and there were 8 tables available. He just lost $500 worth of the business. Good job, J-Dog. Whatta putz.
Delightful little place with decent food. Good service, good food, and solid selection of beverages. Seems like a cool place to bring guests from out of town for a place to hang out and get some elevated pub food.
Nice place and great staff, beer menu needs work. Bar seating is closed so you have to pick beer from a list with just beer names, no info. Another option is to go on their website and go through hundreds of beers on many pages. Maybe they can just print a menu with descriptions and abv. Great food tho.
Ill start of by saying the the restaurant was clean, the server was excellent.Im not a big beer drinker, but they do have a pretty good size selection. That being said, there twice fried fries, not that good. There brisket lacked seasoning, there take on nachos fell short, the cheese sauce was gritty. And the pulled pork sauce was a little to sweet. And the side of pickels had a odd taste, I believe it gas cinnamon in it.
Will never step foot in this pretentious place again. Got attacked the second we walked in as we were wearing medical grade clear masks but asked us to put masks on. Then he noticed we were wearing one and quickly apologized. Proceded to follow us around and tell my cousin his wasnt covering his nose enough when it was. Like seriously? Was just a very uncomfortable and stressful situation. Ended up putting our beer back and left. Went to multiple places after and they were much more welcoming and relaxed. This used to be my go-to spot to start the night. Not anymore.
I love this place! Great ambience, and the selection of mead, beer ands ciders is like no other. The only thing missing are the goat cheese puffs. There were extremely delicious and I dream about them weekly. Please bring them back or send me the recipe so I can once again mouth orgasm.
I could stay here all day and eat. I had the brussels sprouts to start and then the turkey prosciutto sandwich on gluten free bread with a side of potato salad. The sandwich was especially good.
The concept of Longtable is great- they have a huge selection of can and bottled beer/drinks when you first walk in. You then pick a spot, look at menu and then go up to counter to order and pay for items. Food is bar good but upscale. The brisket sandwich was really good, the fries are amazing, and the cheese curds were absurdly greasy (like Fair food greasy) which I didn’t really like but they were still tasty. Overall, good but kind of pricey. The restaurant itself is very nice, with indoor and outdoor seating and windows that open to let allow for the inside-outside feel (which is lovely)! Would go back to try their big pretzel and for more fries (which come with two dipping sauces- the malt vinegar aioli is the bomb!)!
Not busy. Open tables, bar but not enough staff per host for us to sit and have a beer. Takes 2 minutes to pour a beer and they wanted to wait list us. Walked across street to Freehouse and served immediately a great beer
Good selection of brews on tap. A large number of canned beers/ciders/etc. as well. Pretty cool to be able to get your beers to go to hang out on the green space across the street. We will make a return visit on our next trip to Madison.
The brisket soup was amazing. And the smoked taco trio was delicious
Very trendy bar with great food and an even better selection of hard to find craft brews. Ill be back for sure.
My first visit here was enjoyable. Its a social gathering kind of restaurant. You can bring in a group of friends, a deck of cards, and just drink and eat till your hearts content.I had the brisket sandwich with greens on the side. It was absolutely delicious. The brisket practically melted in my mouth. My GF and I shared the cheese curds which were probably some of the best curds Ive had in Madison. They have a fantastic selection of beer. About seven on tap, and an entire wall with quite the variety. They also offer discounts on beers to go! (Unopened of course)I highly recommend this place if youre looking for a bite to eat; but not if youre vegetarian. Or, if youre looking for a place to hang with a large group.
Girls lunch out. We thought it was a great atmosphere. The long tables are fun and friendly. The food was delicious albeit a little pricey. The frites were good; go with the Green Goddess sauce. The muscles were enjoyed at our table as well as the goat cheese puff pastry appetizers. The crispy goat cheese and beet salad was excellent as well. We were all pleased with our choices. It is a great addition to downtown Middleton.
Good atmosphere. Wish we could have the fire turned on while sitting outside. We nicely asked the manager, Justin, if we could turn it on and he was very rude. He said nope! We are not turning the fire on during the summer. Very rude, lazy and no customer service. The host was excellent.
Before the review of the recent visit we took advantage of their Hanukkah Special meal offering for curbside pickup. It, the tender brisket & potato pancakes were out of this world amazing as to flavor, portion size and price. We also did curbside pickup for their BBQ Special. This was our first time in-person visit. We split the BBQ PLATTER; the perfect amount of food for 2 people plus local beer & lambics. The pulled pork is hidden in the picture but it is there and again the brisket tasted as if it were channeled in from someones grandmother in Eastern Europe; so succulent!
Excellent service and the frites are superb. Good fresh flavorful salads and the grilled cheese was good despite the apple slices. Hubby truly enjoyed the cheesesteak. Would have been 5 stars if any vegan choices or even a Veggie burger.
Sat outside, very nice patio with fireplaces in the tables. The beer was really good and the tacos we absolutely delicious. Our server was attentive and very friendly. Will be a new staple of ours.
Just what Middleton needed! Whether you are familiar with town or not, Long Table is a great casual yet refined addition to the neighborhood. From hosting a happy hour to dropping by after a long hike, its a comfortable place to be. Community style tables, big range on beers appeals to most people. As the wine lover, I am not as thrilled, but manage to find something to drink. Food is basic and pretty good for bar-food (tho no Michelin stars anytime soon). However they do have some surprisingly good salads like smoked trout and spinach, despite being drowned in dressing, is a pretty nice choice. Lovely indoor-outdoor feel with one corner opening to the outside. Perfect for long summer evenings!
We ordered a burger asking for only the meat and cheese, but they must have been busy and kept on the onion and condiments. Im allergic to onion so I couldnt eat the burger, but the cheese curds were absolutely amazing! The burger looked amazing as well, luckily i bad a friend who could eat it!
In the heart of downtown Middleton Longtable is a neat place to grab a bite to eat. It is casual place with great friendly service. They have a huge beer selection available in cans, bottles, and on tap. I had a pear cider on tap and it was delicious. The bartender will let you sample the taps before you purchase.I grabbed a bite to eat. I had a vegetarian sandwich with a side of coleslaw. Food was freshly made and very good. Good place to sit relax on the outdoor patio.
A great place to experience the best beers in the world. Outdoor dining and the new Middleton is a very comfortable place to be. The service is complete.
Great food and beer, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and great atmosphere. You can just describe what kind of beer you want and they make it show up.
This is a really cool cafe with a ton of beer selections! They have a bar and a bunch of seating for everyone. You pick out your beer when you first enter the cafe then pay for it at the register/bar and they give you a glass to drink it in. They also have a delicious selection of food which Id recommend the BBQ frites! They also have board games, would highly recommend this place!
Been here many times on trips into Madison. Great beer on taps, good food to eat and soak up said beer and a great bottle/can selection to pick from as you are going out the door. If you are into beer this is a must stop in an area with lots of beer choices.
We thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. They have a great beer selection, and good food choices. Our party of four shared a couple of the sharable plates, which were both very good. The sausage variety was great, as was the cheese/meat board. You can sample some of the beers before making your final selection. They have long picnic table seating, so you may be sharing the table with strangers, but that wasn’t a problem for us. I think anyone would enjoy having a beer there, and some of their great food.
Poor service and over cooked burgers, and can’t forget the 50min wait for our food.
Great place, great people, great location.
Long Table has always been good to us whenever we had gone into the restaurant to eat. Ive ordered several times from them during the stay-at-home orders since I have Celiacs and I love being able to eat safe fries. This order was supposed to be picked up at a certain time, but we had an emergency pop up and were unable to arrive until an hour later. Upon calling to deliver this information, they offered and then did remake our entire order for free, even though we asked no such thing. I look forward to my next order from them. Now if we can just get their cheese curds to be gluten-free too then Ill be all set. (:
Cold cheese on nachos. Ended up getting sick from this food.
Came in with my family for lunch on Sunday and was surprised how empty it was. I don’t drink beer but the cider selection was great. My kids were excited that the high tables in little room by the entryway convert into dart boards, so we threw darts while we waited for our food. We loved the frites as much as Brasserie V’s. The lamb meatballs were tasty but a bit dry. The roasted duck salad was delicious and the wild boar sausage was great too. My kids enjoyed their hot dog and pulled pork. Overall a great experience!Came back for another Sunday lunch and it was nearly empty again. The kids were happy to throw darts again. This time, we got the special—a chili dog. The chili could have been more flavorful but it was good. The beer cheese sauce for the frites favored beer over cheese. We prefer the aioli. The stuffed mushrooms were tasty but you only get 5 small (1-bite) mushrooms, which was disappointing considering the price.
Visited with my husband so he could use his Pub Pass. Enjoyed the socially distant patio while he sipped his hazy IPA and I tried Potosis root beer (great hints of honey!). We also ordered the cheese curds, large soft pretzel, and the apple fennel salad (sold as a side). Enjoyable evening munchies
We love the true gluten free frites!
The space is great! You can see it was decorated with great attention to detail. Staff is very nice and knowledgeable, they will answer any questions you might have. The food was good. I had the pretzel and frites. I enjoyed both, but I wish I got a bit more dips with it. I will make sure to come back soon :)
A great surprise of a place. This cafe is very cozy. The choices of beer and ciders are amazing. Prices are reasonable. The coffee is delicious too.The place has decent cheese curds. The staff is helpful. The location is somewhat convenient but finding a parking spot can be difficult.
Yummmmmmmm. Great beer list and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken was AMAZING. Like don’t-share-with-your-husband-and-throw-out-all-table-manners-amazing! (Hey Longtable: if you made those as bite size boneless chicken bites I guarantee a new favorite!)Also - shhhhh but not on the menu is a delicious Peanutbutter Pie. Just ask if they happen to have some, I don’t think it’s a regular item.Lastly, kid friendly. Because parents need beer.
We enjoyed our delicious lunch. Very clean and safe. Will return.
Decent food. However, ordered cheese curds, but got no cheese, just empty breading pockets. Whoever makes them is poorly or not trained on frying. Be wary of quality.
Fantastic beer selection and attentive service. I love the location near the park with the option of buying a can or two to take to the park and enjoy the outdoors !
Too a long time to get a table. No that busy but nobody to seat.food was okay.
Super inviting atmosphere. Literally long tables fill the open room. Very relaxed communal eating area. Greeted at the door by a massive cooler with at least 200 beers. They have wine as well! Fun menu and FLAVORFUL cuisine. Bartender was friendly and sampled us a few taps. Soup was amazing and my vegan brat with fries was tasty. Can’t wait to come back!
I love long table in normal times. However, I do not like it in COVID times. Basically, COVID 19 has made the whole premise of long table something that really cant exist right now. The idea of long table that is so fun is that many people sit at long tables and you might be sitting with strangers. Obviously, that cannot happen right now. They apparently only have outdoor seating but the outdoor seating is poorly allocated. They could have had seven separate parties sitting in the patio area if people were sitting at the fireplace tables however they had four groups at large picnic tables making the rest of the patio unusable that meant that there was no room for other people including me and my husband. However, because Middleton is so awesome and they made the picnic table area in the town square you can take beer in cans and take it to a picnic table area across the street from Long Table which is what we did because we were on a quick after work date and wanted to do something before picking the kids up from daycare. I will not be back to Long Table during COVID because they did not adjust well. Five stars for Middleton and the picnic area idea two stars to long table for poor adaptation.
Great beer selection and good frites
Cool bar. A whole wall of bottled and canned beer to choose from. Not that many draft options. I had fish and chips for dinner here and it was quite tasty. Cheese curd appetizer was phenomenal.
Really good food, cool idea, fun if you like to try different beers.. the only reason Im giving 4 and not 5 stars is it is LOUD inside at peak times...like shout-at-your-dinner-partner-to-be- heard loud. Pretty annoying.
The space is pleasant and attractive. Choosing your beer from the cooler is fun and interactive. But counter service is slow, and you have to go to the counter repeatedly. Execution is lacking in the food, although fries are great. Beef is a large part of the menu, and I would have preferred more options. Worth a visit if your in the area, but not worth a long drive.
Longtable always seems full of happy people, talking, mingling, having fun. They seem to have an endless selection of beers and non-alcoholic beverages too. Great food, and they open their glass garage doors in warm weather bringing the outside in. They also have a nice adjacent courtyard. And they look over the new Stone Horse Green, the city’s new downtown town square where events are held.
The patio is such a great addition to downtown Middleton. The brisket poutine is awesome.
Such a good place! While their tap beer selection isnt huge, they have a MASSIVE selection of bottled and canned beers. They are great and guiding your beer selection as well. Good food too!
Had dinner on 5/3/19. Staff was friendly and helpful. Place was about 90% full, and it took about 30 minutes to get our food. Its not bad, just plan on having a drink in hand. Beer selection was great. BBQ platter was pretty good; the smoked chicken wings were 10/10. Brisket was also good, and pulled pork was decent. Frites were quite good, and their soft pretzel is among the best in Madison. Only negative was just how loud it was. It did seem to get a bit quieter after 8:30 or so, but it was hard to have a conversation at times. Also, one of our appetizers came out after our entrees did. It wasnt a big deal, but it was a bit odd.
Great spot! It has beautiful wood tables, excellent beer selection, and a delicious menu. They really step outside the box of a normal beer spot. Everything feels very thought-out and well executed. Great spot to go to any day of the week. Go grab a beer and some delicious food.
Normally service and food are great, but tonight it took almost an hour to get a meat and cheese board. Then the server promptly forgot about us after we finally got our food. Wouldn’t recommend on a Friday or Saturday night.
Best beer selection in town. So many fun and unique options in the beer cooler, and good selections on tap. I do believe they have a small collection of wine available to. The food is great, lots of flavor. Some food options are slightly pricey. Inside is really cute, with doors that roll up in the summer creating an indoor/outdoor feel while still remaining cool inside. Great addition to the area. I would highly recommend a visit.
Great place! Order at the counter and your choice is brought to the table. Tried 2 tap beers, liked both. Large can/bottle selection also. BBQ plate and stew were both very good. We had the pickled veg and dip starter and it was very good.
This is a very nice casual order at the counter restaurant. It has a trendy vibe to it and offers a great variety of meats and cheeses for their charcuterie boards. I was a big fan of their boards, they serve them with nuts, honey, a variety of toasted breads and crackers. The rest of their menu is eclectic but tasty. They do a BBQ brisket poutine which is a very unique dish. They have a couple burgers on the menu but I wasnt massively impressed with those, solid good burgers but not a stand out. They have a great variety of beers on tap and bottles including a large selection of local beers. Great place for a casual dinning experience. The majority of the seating is bench style seating but I also noticed a table or two if you prefer that.
What can I say, I have been multiple times and I will keep coming back, food is excellent and man, the beer selection is on point. When you walk in you have a choice from the large cooler or a tap beverage, food is divine, I personally love the Chicken wings and curds but the burgers and veggie options are all there too.
Great Burger! Comfortable seating on Long Tables! Upbeat atmosphere! Kids are welcome. Beer and wine were fine. Volume of multiple conversations was LOUD.
I constantly stop by buying some food in this place. I loved the quick service and well cooked food. 5 stars.
Interesting concept! Good food, good beer on tap, good space and feel. Impressive service. But their wall of bottled beer was too large to appreciate and too expensive to matter.
This place the vibe of a few places I went to in Brooklyn. It was nice to see it again so far from home. They have a good beer selection on tap, stuff youve likely never tried before. Ask the bartender what to try, theyre helpful. The real goldmine is the cases of bottles they have. Definitely going a few bottles of never seen. I recommend giving this place a try.
The food is excellent, beer selection is extensive, and staff is friendly. Get the goat cheese puffs and the BBQ frites!
Great atmosphere! The menu could use a couple lighter snacks such as soft baked pretzels and popcorn. Overall, a great addition to downtown Middleton.Edit: I would like to think it was this review that prompted the addition of a soft pretzel to the menu. Who knows, but they did add it and it is delicious!
No seating inside due to covid, BUT it costs 10 dollars to sit outside. 10 dollars just to sit.
This is a wonderful place to spend an evening with friends. Excellent food. Wonderful selections. WHY CANT I LEAVE MORE THAN 5 STARS?!?
Great beer selection. Everything we have tried is delicious. Very unique and yummy sides.
Its unlikely you will find a larger and more diverse beer list. Almost entirely micros, but they do have some staples as well. A beer for anyone. The food is also very good, the barbecue platter was delicious and fed 2 people easily. Cozy atmosphere, the namesake isnt a joke, the tables are long and communal. Good informal date night destination
Unlike any other bar or restaurant in Madison. Truly a hidden gem in Middleton. The atmosphere is lively and beautiful with a hipster vibe to it. The food is excellent and the beer list is as good as youll find in Madison.
Went to Longtable last night for the first time and was quite underwhelmed. The food was okay at best and portions were small. Brisket was okay as well as the pulled pork. Bbq frites were very good. The pulled chicken had zero sauce and we got pulled chicken that felt like cartilage-like texture. We also got poured the wrong beer. Overall we spent over $100 for 4 people for 4 small meals, a shared app, and three beers and it was no where near worth that price after this visit. Also now looking back I should have read what was rang up because it should not have been $100 before tip for ... but that was our fault for not double checking the total. Maybe we just went on a bad day but with the other Belgian restaurants around like Brassiere it will be hard to make an argument to go back. Would recommend looking elsewhere
As a long time fan of the Brasserie V, I was looking forward to trying out their latest creation. The place was almost full on a Tuesday night. The food did not disappoint ... the brisket was delicious, as well as the burger my wife had. The sides were interesting; I liked my garbanzo based one. The cheese curds I ordered never arrived. I went up to the register and cancelled them, since we were done eating. The beer selection is awesome like I expected.Service and dining area upkeep were definitely lacking. We sat at a table that had several empty glasses and cans and discarded napkins. It seemed like it had been like that for some time. Nobody ever came to pick up, even after been there discussing beers and food for 10+ minutes. There were no napkins on the utensils bucket, nor there were any knives. Some knives arrived just went we were leaving 2 hours later.I know they will get better since it is a new establishment, so I do plan to return! I hope they iron out those smaller issues.
Nice beer selection which you pick from the cooler. They do have some beers on tap, but I didnt notice until after I had already selected a bottled beer. Small plates were tasty and featured top notch ingredients. The premises are nice in generic trendy way - needs a bit more character...
We called ahead to see if we’d be able to get seats for 4 people, and we were told “No problem!” We arrived and there wasn’t a single spot open. One group would get up, and it was like a flock of rude vultures trying to snag the table. There were groups of people taking up extra space then they actually needed. This place could have potential on maybe a middle of the week afternoon, but definitely can’t handle busyness. We ended up leaving after standing at the entrance for 15 minutes.
Great beers and great atmosphere. Ordered a burger, which was overcooked and plain. That is why I am not giving 5 stars. I have to be honest.
Overpriced beer. Overpriced food. We had community burger and it wasn’t tasting good. Long wait time as well.
Nice atmosphere... it can get a bit noisy when its busy. The long tables are fun to sit at and potentially make some new friends. The food is great with an equally great selection of beers and ales on tap or in bottles.
