This is for service done a couple of years ago. I was skeptical of the repair at the time it was done but figured Id wait and see how things turned out. The repair was for broken manifold studs on a head. I needed them replaced and sealed. The new studs were too short and one was installed crooked, i.e. not in line with the other studs. I also asked for the valve depths to be measured and all I got was that they were in spec, no numbers at all. Now, less than 400 hours of run time later, the crooked stud has broken, leaving me with a difficult repair again. I hired this company to make the fix because they seemed like professionals, but the actual work was anything but.
I recently used CT Diesel and Marine for a survey on twin Cat diesels as well as a repair as a result of survey findings. The mechanic (I cant remember his name), was thorough and spent time speaking with the buyer of the boat. We found an issue and the mechanic started the job immediately without having to go back to the shop etc. No nonsense, prompt service, all good. Tom Prestige Yacht Sales.
Great service! They responded pretty quickly and worked so neatly. Their prices are reasonable. I would highly recommend!
From communication to the actual work my experience with Connecticut Diesel and Marine was superb. This is a company and crew that really has it together in an industry that normally leaves a lot left to be desired. Thank you to Chelle, Marla and Paul for making sure the Grand Banks 58 was more than ready for her long by water journey to Michigan. A trip that was truly made possible by these 3!
I highly recommend CT. Diesel and Marine for all your Yachting and Boating needs. They are Professional, Knowledgeable, and Highly Skilled. They can do any job Big or Small. Call them to get the job completed right the first time.
My experience with Ct Diesel was very poor at best. I would not recommend them. First the communication and scheduling are terrible. I called and emailed and never could get information on the status of work or when they would show up. Mechanics were always in the field so they were never available to update me. Other mechanics I use call me on their cell phone and do not try to communicate through the office. In September 2018 I had a low fuel pressure issue my CAT engines. I spoke to Paul once who thought it might be a wiring harness issue. I called and emailed numerous times and spoke to the office but never heard back with an update and they did not service the boat in Fall 2018. I had the same issues in Spring 2019-no information and no service. I finally gave up in June 2019 and hired HO Penn. And btw I changed the secondary fuel filters myself and this fixed the low pressure issue. I am told by other CAT mechanics that advised me that this should have been the first thing that should have been done to address such an issue.8-1-19: In response to below reply my review is not utterly and entirely false. I first contacted you on September 10, 2018 for service and it has never been completed nor did you address the low fuel pressure issue which I requested on September 17 to be addressed asap. While the office did commnucate with me from time to time you provided no information on the status of my job and no service person ever called me except for the single call I had with Paul. After that call I was told a few times that a tech would be in touch but I never was contacted and no service was done in the Fall. My last email to you on November 14 was not answered I left a message at your office on Friday and I was told you would call me back on Monday. I have not had an update since we last spoke on October 5. Please provide an update when you have a chance. In addition when we spoke on October 5 you said that you had someone who could paint the engine and ER floor and would provide an estimate. I would like to hear back on that also. To this day I have never heard back from anyone as to painting the engines even though I was told several times someone would contact me. The painting could have been done while on the hard. In the Spring I contacted you in March 2019 and again in April and May to try to schedule service. No service person called or was a service date scheduled. Lastly I was not advised that you scheduled an appointment in May while the boat was not yet launched. If you you did so I could have told you that the boat was not launched and I could have connected power to the boat, which I later did.
Paul and his guys are top notch!! They come in get the job done, clean, neat and total pros!!!
CT Diesel ruined an entire boating season for me by not calling back, not showing up and not knowing how to fix the problem. In decades of boating this is the absolute worst experience! I can’t imagine why anyone would want to use them with the way they treat the customers! I think they would be challenged to run a popcorn stand.
Great people great company!
