Pretty nice diner, open late, which is great.The food is good and the prices are reasonable. Just be aware that this place can get pretty crowded, so wait times can be long as a result. Overall, a solid place to grab some food.
Excellent local diner experience — the food selection is extensive and impressive. The fried chicken dinner is crispy and juicy, perfection! The stuffed scallops special far exceeded my expectations, and the desserts were amazing (creamy, chocolate goodness!). Great diner ambiance.
Excellent again! With Covid and so many people out of work, they sis such a goof job at everything. People Need to Understand and have patience. The Government let people collect way too much for too long and businesses suffer, but people still want the world. Have a heart and gain some patience. We had a great experience there and the food is amazing. Our waiter and the woman that was the hostess were personable and professional. Definitely going back again soon.
I am thrilled to write a review of The Athenian Diner in Milford, CT. I found this terrific gem of a diner purely on accident when I stopped off 95 between NYC and Cape Cod, MA a few weeks ago. This diner is extremely clean, the staff is wonderful, the food is delicious and the prices are extremely reasonable. Since finding this gem – I have stopped three more times for breakfast and dinner as I travel weekly between NYC and Cape Cod, MA. There is also wonderful Shop Rite market, CVS, Car Wash and Total Wine Liquor store so close to run any errands as well.
Ordered grilled cheese, French onion and spicy curly fries and it came to $15 for take out. It was good food however the grilled cheese was small and the French onion was small. Don’t think it was worth $15 but it was good for a diner
This is one of my fav diners now. The customer service is great, there never seems to be a wait to be seated and the food does not take long to be served. So I’d recommend this place to anyone searching for a 24 hour diner that serves delicious food quickly and provides great customer service.

So fantastically yum! First time eating Moussaka. It was so delicious I couldnt stop eating even though I was full. Highly recommend their Green Goddess dressing if youre eating a salad! The ribs and bbq were tasty, but we had to take it home because we ate too much moussaka!

Sausage links looked and tasted like Brown and Serve. Home fries come with onions, not available without. Im sorry but if its a diner, a person should be able to order Potatoes with out onions.

Service terrible. Waitress coughed right in my husbands face. She didnt even turn her head or cover her mouth but by the looked of her she was a crackhead. We are in the middle of the pandemic and no one had masks. Didnt trust the cleanliness after that. It was freezing inside in summer. Food was ok but not worth the very expensive prices they charge. Everyone working there from the host to the waitresses looked flustered and miserable.
Very nice diner. I was here for breakfast and I really enjoyed my meal. The workers were very courteous and responsive. The place is always crowded especially at lunch so you get there early. It’s pretty close to the road and can be easily noticed from a vehicle in normal traffic. There’s also a wheelchair accessible entrance and parking. It’s definitely a return visit for me.

I ordered dinner for my parents and I for Father’s Day and the food was delicious. The only thing is the chicken tasted like a pizza topping and was kind of bland. The cashier/waiter was alright but he made a face when I called him back to change a part of my order. I will probably go back though, my mom wants to try their breakfast.

Waitress was very friendly with great service. Theres my 2 stars. Food on the other hand not so good. Went around 11pm for takeout. Ordered a turkey burger fries and a tossed salad. Salad and fries were decent but how do you mess that up? Turkey burger had an off taste. Possibly freezer burn. Idk. But if youre not selling enough of an item where it wont taste tainted when served the pull it from the menu. I was only able to eat half of it half my fries and half my salad due to being worried id end up with food poisoning and be vomiting the next day. I live to tell my story today so I didnt end up sick. But ill end this by saying I was starving after not eating for 18hrs prior, so to throw half my meal away is worth a thousand words in of itself.

My favorite diner! The shiny diner! They really go above and beyond with the little things other places tend to do. Coffee and water instantly refilled. Which means a lot to me. James and Emily are awesome at their job. Well, the entire staff is a actually great. Its a job and waitressing is not easy but they do it with a smile. They all have this conraderie which is nice to see. I go at least once a week and it is always good. The food is great and the desserts are all extra good. Dont leave without at least sharing sonething!

Wee made it a little tradition to come here every Sunday. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the design of the actual diner is pretty cool, and their food is wonderful. Perfect little diner in an easy to find location! Their farmers omelette is fantastic.
Went there last night after our weekly Wednesday night prayer night at Cornerstone and it was a great experience. It was my first time ever dining here and I always like to ask the waiter/waitress what there recommendations are for their best meals. Our waitress recommended everything lol which is great because their menu is stacked. Greatly look forward to going back hopefully Sunday, and God-Willing will become the Wednesday dinner and after Church brunch norm. 👐👐👐

I got the reuben sandwich it was a little on the room temperature / warm side I would have liked it a little warmer but I was with three other people so I suppose once it was done they let it sit for a little bit before serving it to me it was okay its diner food general diner food nothing special but a good atmosphere at 10:00 at night

I dont know why people are lying about this diner and the terrible food and horrible service. Over priced and over seasoned food. I walked in with family for breakfast and the place was literally empty. I wondered why? Its the beginning of the month,tax time and of course stimulus checks are out. After eating I quickly realized why. Food used to be great years ago but I guess new management and new cooks have declined business. I talked myself out of going to the busy diners in new haven to have a quiet more relaxed breafest at local diner. That was a mistake and I will spend my 50.00 for breakfast elsewhere. Especially since I have everything I ordered at home and can cook the food I ordered better than the chef!!! Why is the cook taking orders and bringing out the food within 10 mins of three people ordering? No chef gear just a blue face mask lol waitress didnt speak english. Dirty dishes and cups we sent back. Dirty windows etc of course no one asked how was the food. I wonder why. Who puts lemon season on uncooked home.fries? Burnt eggs? Terrible experience and it was my family first time there. This is exactly why restaurants in new haven dont last. Overpriced food,terrible quantity, and dull taste. Athenian diner should be ashamed. Huge establishment as far as size and they have empty seats everyday for years. I would have been happier going to hood and paying less. None of my food was ate. I left everything paid my bill and continued my hungry morning because I was turned off to eat out. Chef says hes been cooking for 45 years lol I wonder where!!!

We have been here pre-Covid and were not turned off however this visit was extremely disappointing. The food was ordinary at best and the service was shocking. Unfortunately there is ZERO social distancing (not an empty table to be seen) and we saw several tables get turned over without being wiped down between customers. As someone trying to support local businesses during a pandemic, this is the first time we actually felt uncomfortable sitting in a restaurant. Will not be going back to dine in.

Usual diner fare. I am partial to my husbands omelets which are fluffy- this one wasnt. Taste was fine. Why do diners put butter only on the middle of the toast? Its plain dry everywhere else. Not the only place that does this.

Very Clean, friendly service. Decent food at a reasonable price. Because its on a divided portion of Rt 1 takes a bit of navigation to get to depending on where you are coming from but worth it.
Was there 8/18/19. My wife and I ordered hash and eggs. Was told the corn beef hash was homemade that’s why we ordered it. The hash came from a can. I get the same breakfast at every diner. NO WAY that was homemade hash. Not a big deal just tell me it’s from a can so I can get something else... home fries below average same with the pancakes we shared. The waitress was wonderful though!! We moved over on that side of town so we wanted to try it.... MUCH BETTER options for a diner in Milford, Bridgeport flyer in Devon or Pops I would strongly Recommend over this one

I used to go to the one in Middletown but then I moved. Lucky enough theres one here too (I guess 3). Food is the same as the one in Middletown which means its delicious. Menu isnt as expansive but has everything you would want from a diner. Friendly service and they wear their masks
Typical Greek style diner (which are awesome). Burgers were good. Gyro wrap was good. Cole slaw was crunchy which is great. They gave us plenty of fries. Only real complaint was the beverages were tiny.

The waitress was so nice and so attentive to our needs, by the time we finished we had made a few jokes. Took my daughter here for dinner before the movie. I ordered the mini corned beef and cabbage special which came with carrots, peas and boiled potatoes and my daughter ordered a bacon and egg sandwich on a roll with homefries.The mini was a nice size. Came with a soup and beverage. Only issue I had was the lack of flavor. Knowing corned beef is typically salty I decided to take come with the potato. It was so bland tasting. I tried everything individually and everything needed salt minimally. My daughters potatoes too had no flavor.The atmosphere was nice. Waitress was too. But not sure Ill be back. I like a little more flavor to my food.
