Darwin and Jimmy, the two leaders at CR Automotive do a great job: they carefully and patiently explain what work needs to be done on my car, and give me a clear estimate of the cost. They also are willing to care for my car even if I havent made an appointment, if a difficulty suddenly comes up.

Coming down the grade after the Golden Gate Bridge my accelerator stopped working. I coasted into CR Automotive hoping that theyd be both quick and legit. Within the day theyd diagnosed the problem and had it fixed at a reasonable price. Pulling into an unknown mechanic is always anxiety producing, but Im glad I ended up here. Would definitely recommend

This place is honest and got the job done (water pump) as scheduled. The guy diagnosed the problem quickly at about 430pm while I waited without charging and gave me a reasonable quote to have it done by the next afternoon with OEM parts. And he gave me a smog check as well for a very reasonable price. I would DEFINITELY go back for more service!

They are a good team with a nice communication style -- they take the time to explain what needs to be done and will often show you a part theyve replaced so you can see for yourself what the problem was.I like that they itemize and prioritize the various repairs so that I dont have to get everything done at one time. Also, its easy to make appointments using their online tool. The email reminders for when theres a service due, do help keep me on track.

Honest, Accurate and Fair.My girlfriend knows nothing about cars and they have had plenty of chances to take advantage of her and yet they never do. They fix her car and when I suggested a incorrect diagnosis (that would have cost her more money), they let me know that I was wrong and it would be a wasted expense.I recently brought a car by that I was going to purchase and they did a diagnositic evaluation for $120. It took more than an hour, included a test drive, and they explained many things that I was unaware of from my test ride. Over the next year of owning the car I had them repair each of the items by priority when I could afford it. The work is always done on time and I believe the prices are more than fair.I am amazed that reviewers complain of the diagnostic charge. It costs time and time is money. The computer gives an often vague code: ex. fuel system. But figuring what in the fuel system is the problem takes time.

Went to CR for the first time with my Mercedes Sprinter to replace the front brakes and rotors. The customer service was excellent from start to finish. I soon have to replace my rear brakes and will definitely go back to see Darwin and the rest of the crew when I need more work done on my Sprinter.

I have so far only used this place for small things (a window stuck open, and a trunk stuck open), but they were very responsive, quick, thorough, and communicative. I will go back for sure. *** EDIT *** I now have used these guys a lot for our 2000 Passat and 2005 Honda. They are very competent and very honest, and reasonably priced.

I was disappointed with my experience here..I was towed in with a blinking check engine light..; and I was just visiting the bay area (altho I grew up here so I do know the area, I no longer live here). ..anyways, they couldnt finish their diagnosis by the end of the day so I had to leave it overnight..the next day it took them too long to figure out what it was..I rode around on my bike trying to waste a few hours ..I forget what triggered a conflict but I remember coming back and these guys still just sort of hanging around my vehicle but didnt seem to be getting much done.. (still diagnosing).. I finally said I would take it somewhere else..and they still wanted $150 or so for a diagnosis of a bad sparkplug or something like that.. ; I hate to say it but I think they were making it seem like they were working on it when they actually were not...(ie just because a vehicle is in the shop doesnt mean they are doing anything to it or for it...; do they think we are all idiots?) You dont get 8 hours of diagnosis work just because the vehicle was in the shop for 8 hours. I really get the feeling sometimes that some mechanics think that everybody else are a bunch of idiots, like we were all born yesterday.. ; I ended up paying $100 for just about nothing than a piece of paper saying there was a sparkplug issue.. probably something I could have gotten if I had gone to pepboys and asked to use their free plug-in diagnostic tool.

CR has fixed some serious problems on both of our cars lately and they always give us a good price. They fit us in last minute to fix them quickly too!

As always the work, Im sure, was capably performed -- however $118 for an oil change (even synthetic oil) is quite high.

I was surprised and disappointed by this place when I took my Subaru there for a smog test. They did a complete test on all systems and came back with a report that sounded like my car was falling apart. I needed a catalytic converter for starters and at there price estimate of $1,000 just for that (I knew I couldnt afford it and asked whether there are refurbished ones as my car is a 2002..they said no, there was no other way), and breaks were at %2!!! Well, I called a place in SR where they put in a universal CC for under $500...then I went to Malugani Tire to check breaks and they said theyre fine and I should wait 6 mos and then come by for pads and alignment...so for $500 my car was fine where at this place $1,000 was just the beginning...I will not go back!
