I am 75 y.o. & have traveled on 4 continents. Mill Valley Coffee is my favorite breakfast place on planet Earth. I live in NY but fly to CA regularly, & I never fail to come here every day I can manage. Owner Lorraines subtle & gently humorous charm as well as flawless customer care, & Chef Philips astonishingly perfect cooking, have me eating & lingering for more than an hour every time. Their eggs Benedict Florentine (with my idiosyncratic but customary side of their exquisite chorizo) is my favorite dish at this, my favorite place
If you’re looking for not the friendliest or attentive service with mediocre food greasy enough to clog your arteries in one meal, then this is the place for you.I just moved to the area and was excited to try this restaurant. It’s quaint, small old diner with the breakfast bar and stools, it’s cute. Sadly I was very disappointed.Ordered mushroom and cheese omelette. Hash browns over fried and extremely greasy, I did not eat them. The mushrooms were not cooked and the cheese not melted, also very greasy. Coffee is good, strong. Asked for water that never got, obviously they take the drought very serious to the point of even upon request they don’t serve it. Service not friendly at all, was not greeted when I arrived. I’ve had DMV clerks more warm and fuzzy than at this place.I always look to support local small businesses which is why it pains me to say spend your money elsewhere.
3rd time here and besides free coffee, nothing to write about.Food is pure garbage, unless you like bland ground meat, overfried hash and dry pastry that cant be revived by heating up. Definitely my last time here.I work as a tour guide and this place is on my black list.
Great customer service and good prices.
The first time I came OMG yhe breakfast was incredible and this is my 2nd time here and I swear I had a Déjà vu there food is incredible and the owners couldnt be more friendly and hospitable!!!! Must go check this place out when your in town!!!!!
Nice little diner for breakfast . Good food nice service. Fyi No bathroom.
Wildly overpriced basic greasy spoon. At half price would rate two stars.
Last of the original Mill Valley Restaurants with Original Ownership! Great service, Friendly service!
Absolutely hands down the best little café there ever was!
The best Reuben sandwich
☕️🤲6:30am when everything else was closed I found my way into this magical little portal. As I enjoyed some coffee and a pancake over a conversation with the woman at the register I was at once saddened and grateful. Saddened that humanity and especially the wealthy people in this neighborhood haven’t made the people of this restaurant wealthy enough to live in the neighborhood they work in. So grateful for the wisdom of this woman pouring the coffee. As if she’d seen this scene so many times she knew every mood and move and exactly what it means to be at the helm of a social nexus point such as her Mill Valley Coffee Shop. Left this place in a daze of thoughts about how our world needs to balance our collective way of life. The caste system, classism, monetary system, capitalism and all the greed and separation they generate have got to go... Anyway I thought, among many other things, if I ever hit it big I might go into that coffee shop and set those beautiful people free from having to serve in that way to survive🛸✨🎶
This is a hidden gem. Service and food like home.
Like it was ... an old shop hidden in the valley. Very cool coffee cups! Large pancakes double doller signs plates run average 15$+ !
Lovely little coffee shop (in the older sense of the term) in the middle of Mill Valley. Food is good, service was excellent. The strength here is the unusual variety in some of the plates - I had garlic-basil sausage with my eggs and hashed browns, which were really quite remarkably good. The scrambled eggs were light and fluffy. Everything else was good too, more typical of most places such as this.
I live in Mill Valley, and took some out of town friends here based on good reviews, food was subpar at best. Friend had a Mexican omelette w/ cheddar, the cheese wasnt melted and was obviously old and solidified in a couple of corners. I had a burger with an egg. The egg came scrambled (?) on the burger. Everything was very overpriced and underwhelming, or in the case of the cheddar uneatable. I would NOT recommend this place.
Great brunch, just the way you like it! We travel from SF to eat there. Fast friendly service too! The price is right!
Just the Best In Marin! Cant beat the Service by these gems as Host & Hostess!! Best Breakfast in the North Bay. Best smiles and good homemade quality food ever. So many years, dont miss out!!
Your cup of coffe will never go empty until you say so! Food is great with healthy portions! Service is wonderful and very helpful to wayward travelers!
Absolutely fantastic food!!! Best old-school diner in the North Bay!old fashioned breakfast; great BLT; Hamburgers - all made to order by Phil (the owner/chef)!!
Such a charming little place clearly frequented by locals because the amazing waitress Lindsay knew most of the people I saw come in by name.Portions were really huge and fitting to the prices. Chicken fried steak and eggs was delicious and this place seems to feel homey when the lot of the area seems out of touch and pretentious.
Good food. Great service.
They were very nice with a cozy atmosphere. Some of the best French toast Ive ever had, but I will suggest that the bacon is much better than the sausage. Would deffinately reccomend
The great coffee shop ever in this place thank you.
Lovely little breakfast joint. So homey. Large portions and simply delicious.
Great service but the food left more to be desired
Best coffee in town. Stopped in for a quick coffee break and left with a smile on my face and a belly full of glorious-ness
If you are looking for an old fashioned diner with great food and atmosphere, this is your place. Friendly service
Old school diner with comfort food classics and efficient cheerful service.
Great small diner with filling breakfast.
Old school feel with all the comfort foods.
A great place for a good old fashioned American breakfast. I hadnt been here for years, but everythings the same except for the Marin County prices. Expect to pay $11 to $12 for omelets, bacon and eggs, pancake and waffle plates, etc. so that was a bit of a shock. We were actually on our way to Toast in downtown Mill Valley because us Sausalitoans know its rediculous to fight the hoards of tourists at our usual breakfast spots in Sausalito on a sunny weekend day. So it was great to remember this place on the way downtown Mill Valley. Somehow I thought the prices would be less than what we paid but I guess everyone has upscaled to typical Marin prices. We really enjoyed the food here though.Another place we passed on the way to Mill Valley was the quaint little diner at Tam Valley stuck way back in the corner, I forget its name, might be Shoreline Coffee Shop, thats a guess but we always used to order Huevos Rancheros. My friend Kevin said they had been sold and greatly upscaled, especially the prices which were no longer $6.00 breakfasts. Oh well, since Dennys in Corte Madera closed I dont know if you can get a working mans priced breakfast without driving to San Francisco. Sometimes its less expensive to bus round trip to the City for a good meal than to pay Marin prices.
I been there when I used to live in Mill Valley Marin CA and at the time I was their a tons of times! The people there are sooo sweet and it does has a homely feel like your home and yet its not over price on few small cafe are! Now as for parking goes good luck in that! I strongle tell people take a loc bus down town Mill Valley CA. Its more easyer then hunt for parking! I should know my family and friends has a hard time finding ANY parking! Now if you own a HUGE SUV leave it at home! Drive small cars NOT small suv you wont find ANY parking!
Good Coffee, good eggs, very good bacon and very good service.
First impressions great cook!
Great food and service
Very good pastries
My coffee tasted like poopie
Its old. Ok food, sometimes.
Fast Tasty Amazing
Weak coffee and unfriendly service.
Horrible service. The lady at the counter was one hundred percent rude. I never write reviews and she was so rude that I couldn’t help it.
